Player List ----------------
Sengdroma Drashi Chandra Io
------------------------------------------- Drashi's hooves hit the ground so hard and fast that he was worried he would leave scars in the ground forever. But that didn't matter, he had hidden the foals near the lake after Maion had fallen and ordered him away to safe the foals. He had returned and found.... nothing. Just blood. There had been a trail, but it ended abruptly leaving no sign of Maion. Drashi feared the worst... kidnapped.
That was why he ran now, no trail or scent to be followed to find the protector that had sacrificed himself for the life of his son and foals. For the herd. But that didn't mean Drashi was going to sit back and take the news lying down! No! He would try and find his mother, Sengdroma. She would know what to do.
He was getting closer to the lake now, his muscles burning and protesting with over use.... but still he ran. Using the rest of his energy he roared out a single word; "SENGDROMA!"

Her head shot up like a bullet, the sound of her son's voice echo'd through the land and filled Sengdroma's ears. Something was not right, not right at all. Inside her head she was worried, but she kept her calm. Maion, Drashi, and the children had gone out to explore earlier. It was time that the foals started exploring a bit further from the herd, but not without protection from at least a few of the protectors. Her heart dropped, something had happened to one of the children. With quiet grace, Sengdroma trotted to the boundary of the lake, waiting to catch a glimpse of Drashi. Her eyes caught sight of him coming down the path to her left, she turned and quickly made her way to him, he looked paniced. "Drashi, what is it son?" she looked past him into the forest, "Where are the children?" her voice was calm and soothing as normal, yet now there was a stern tone to it that told Drashi she was in no mood for games.

He was out of breath when he finally stopped, his heart thundering at a million miles an hour in his chest... it was roaring to life, and Drashi was sure it was about to explode. Still, now was not the time for rest.... he could do that later.
"Children... fine... near... other... side.... of... lake" he managed to pant out, his words may not have been clear but he hoped that Sengdroma had managed to figure out his meaning if nothing else. He knew that the news he was about to deliever would not be recieved happily... after all, it was sad but on top of that Maion was Sengdroma's lifemate.
Taking another breath in an effort to slow his heart and breathing he started to pass the message on once more. "Maion... I couldn't find him... he was injured.... ordered me to save the children.... blood... blood trail... but no him... I looked and looked...." He paused and hesitated. Should he voice his conclusion? Yes, Sengdroma had earned that much from him. In all the years before this she had been every bit the mother to him as Maion had his father, she had accepted him without difficulty... even when he had taken the death of his family hard and distanced himself from everyone. It had been Sengdroma just visiting him every day, talking to him, offering words of comfort or words on random topics that had eventually snapped him out of it. She had been there for him, persistant and consistant. He owed her much. "I think he was kidnapped. We were attacked by... by... a beast." Everything had happened so fast, he hadn't been able to fully see everything. The children had cried and screamed.... he ran to them, but Maion was there first.... then orders to flee with them to safety. Beyond that it was cloudy.

She remained posed as her son panted out the words, the terrible facts unfolding. Her heart was relieved, but only for a moment when Drashi informed her that the children were safely hidden away. His next though, brought the blood in her veins to a stop. Her mate, her lover, her best friend had not only been injured, he had been taken.
She paused for a moment, the report swirly in her head. How could this have happened? Maion was by far one of the strongest soquili she had ever met, but at the mercy of a beast, anything could have happened.
"Drashi, calm down, Son." she took a moment to nuzzle him and try to comfort him, "We will get him back, don't worry..."
Who was she kidding, she was worried... She knew her herd mates would surely know this, but she could not show weakness in this time of need. She cleared her throat and took a few steps back.
"Drashi, I need you to fly to the children. Get them back to the herd quickly. That is your first mission. When you return, find me and we will discuss our options." she motioned for him to go, the children were her first priority.

Drashi nodded at the command and asked no more. He knew she was trying to reassure him, but in many ways he felt the words she said were just as much for her as for him. Drashi wanted to tell her it would be ok, but he had looked everywhere, he flew above expecting Maion to be unable to due to his injury. What if he was dead? Torn apart and eaten for some beasts dinner? Drashi growled, first his blood family was destroyed by skinwalkers and now his family was slowly being detroyed.... Maion's loss would have an effect. He could tell that much already.
Still, he had a task. He spread his wings, turned towards the spot he had left the children and flew off. He would get to them, and he would bring them to the herd as instructed before seeking out Sengdroma once more.------------------------------------------- Not too far away..... ------------------------------------------- Chandra yawned and stretched out next to Io, the foals had been officially initiated into the herd about a week ago but still she was worried about Alice. Her condition was getting worst and even her combined efforts with Io was showing few results, her father had ordered Drashi on call to fetch Misaki if they needed her. Still she feared they would lose Alice if the babes didn't arrive before seasons end, the three foals were simply running out of room.
She looked in the direction of Alice, silence. A good sign she hoped, Io had given her something to help her sleep through the growing pains in her stomach... but they were different to contraction pains, and for some reason using her unicorn magic had done nothing to aid. Chandra felt helpless.
Standing up she decidied to go for a walk and find Io, see what condition Alice had been in before she left her. But instead she saw the figure of her mother. A bright smile peeled on her face as she called; "Hello Mummy!" She couldn't see her mothers face yet, just ther detailed pattern of her pelt on her rump and sides. Her mother truely was a beautiful creature, her pelt looked like the earth and sea while her fathers looked like the night... together they made the world. They were whole. Chandra felt she had found her other half in Sonnet.... what she hadn't told her mother was that she was trying to become with child herself.

Sengdroma watched as Drashi took to the skies after the children. She stood there in silence, her thoughts running wild. She would have to gather the herd, gather some of the protectors. They would have to come up with a plan of rescue, there was no way she would let Maion remain in the captivity of a beast.
She was shaken from her thoughts by the sound of her daughter's voice. She turned, a solemn look on her face. She did not answer her daughter, instead she waiting for Chan to make it closer to her. She tried to blink away the tears that had formed in her eyes...the fear that she felt in her heart. How would she tell their children that Maion had been kidnapped?

"Mother?" Chandra asked cautiously, her mother had always been naturally quiet in nature but this was.... off. Her mother never usually ignored a greeting, especially not from her. She gulped, her heart suddenly racing. Something was wrong?
Her head started to whirl with a million and one thoughts, each more dramatic and fearful that the last. The foals were injured. No... lost. One had died. Skinwalkers were back... they had stolen some of the mares. Blood was found... something! ANYTHING!
Chandra's mind roared with possibilities that she stuffed away approached her mother. "Is everything..." She stopped midsentance, stunned to silence by the tears she saw in her mother eyes. Why was she crying? Something terrible had happened to cause her strong mother to cry. "What is it?" She was afraid of asking, afraid of hearing the answer.... but Chandra knew she needed to. For both their sakes.
Drashi had found the foals easily, they had been well behaved and followed his instructions to the letter -it seemed practical Eden wouldn't let Crown do anything else, and Crown had wanted to impress Drashi and not become more of a problem. Brave and strong little ones, it made Drashi wonder why he had ever attempted to avoid them. Maion was right, foals were new life and new beginnings for all.
The track home was long since he didn't dare ask the small foals to fly over the lake incase they lost their strength or couldn't quite make it -to save them from the beast to only see one of them drown was simply not an option.
Soon, they would be back soon..... the urgency never left his steps. Follow orders, he thought.... take the foals to the herd mates at the other side of the lake then fine Sengdroma and prepare to fly. He was tired... but he could do this. He had to. For Maion. For his father. For his mother. For his herd. He would help bring him home!

She took a deep breath and straightened her pose, she could take care of this.
"Chandra, your father is injured...And, he has been taken." she paused for a moment. "The children are safe, Drashi has gone to retrieve them."
She cleared her throat and blinked away the last of her tears. "We need to find your sister and some of the others. I must take care of this."
Without much hesitation, Sengdroma walked dutifully past her daughter back to the sight of the herd. "Come, Chandra. Your father needs us..." she called over her shoulder. She knew that this would hit her daughters...her sons...and her herd hard, but they would make it through this. They had made it through everything before, this wasn't how their legacy would end.

Chandra stood still, heart filled with silence as she let the words sink in. Her father was injured AND gone! Her heart froze, mind and body fell numb. How could she ever be of help to anyone like this?
Chandra was not a fighter, even since she was a foal she knew she would never be such.... she had refused to learn more than the basics of self-defence, refused to attack anything ever.... she had chose the path of a healer, a midwife to be exact. She brought new life into the world... she didn't take it.
Still, as her mother summoned her she reaslied something... if this was hitting her hard how was her mother feeling? She didn't want to imagine something happening to Sonnet. That would rip fragments out of her heart and destroy her from the inside out.... it was decided; Chandra may not be a fighter but she WAS a healer, and she would heal and protect her herd.... help her mother.
Turning she followed in silence, until she saw Drashi. Was that.... blood? It licked the bottom of his legs and there was a spread of the sickening rich liquid along his side.... it wasn't his... did that mean.... her fathers?
She felt sick.
Drashi had taken the three foals to their mother, she was happy to have them home and was deverstated by the news... again and again she had thanked him for keeping them save and returning them home... but.... Drashi felt like anything but a hero. He had failed his father.
Tiredness was setting in but still he pushed himself forward, seeing Sengdroma almost at once. He nodded in ackowlegdement to her and in the distance behind her he could see his sister Chandra.

Sengdroma nodded to Drashi, acknowledging that he had completed the mission she had asked of him. She knew he was tired...knew he was sore and heartbroken. She would need his help though, she knew she would not be able to retrieve Maion by herself.
"Io!" she called out for her other daughter. She had a plan in mind, but she needed to explain to the others.
--------------------------------
Hearing the call of her mother, Io turned her attention quickly returning from just inside the treeline. She had started at a slow pace, but when her eyes saw the blood on Drashi's coat, she realized something was not right. She took to a run until she met the others.
"What's going on?" she looked from her mother, to her sister, then brother.
---------------------------------
"Io, your father has been taken, attacked by a beast. Drashi was able to save the children and come to fetch help." she took another deep breath.
"Drashi, I will need your help, but I need the others to stay here and protect the herd. If need be, you instruct them to go to Padmapani... but only if they HAVE to leave the safety of our lands. Round up your group and explain the situation and rest while you can. We will leave at night fall."
Looking back to her two daughters, she sighed slightly. "Your brother and the others will keep you all safe. This will be no different than when your father and I go on our yearly trip. You two are in charge of the health and care of this herd." She looked to Chandra, then to Io.
"As your mother, know that I am worried... As your Alpha, know that I will bring your father home safely." she took a deep breath, raising her head and regathering her confirmation, looking as regal as ever.
She had hoped she would never need the training she had received from Sofiel, but the time had come that it would have to be used. Thankfully over the years, even Sengdroma had trained with the protectors. She had been weak protecting her left side, but with the help of Maion and the others she had corrected that fault.
"Gather the mare and the children, keep them close. Do not panic or the children and others will worry. You must stay strong, act as if there is nothing wrong. Do you two understand me?"

Drashi turned his head away from Io in shame as she arrived. Yes his mothers words were true.... he had kept the foals safe, and even brought them here. But at a great cost..... Maion.... his father had sacrficed himself in order to give Drashi and the foals enough of a start to get away with the advantage of the knowing the lands better then the beast. There had been no evidence of a chance... it was clear they were satisfy with their catch in Maion. How stupid he was, he should have fought.... he should have stayed.... protected his father.... protected the foals. HE SHOULD HAVE STAYED!!!
Chandra felt sadness at the way Drashi held himself, it was clear he felt responsible for what was happening... and Chandra had been woried about she would deal with all of this... how selfish could one mare be? She felt guilt for her actions but forced it aside so she could comfort her brother.
She nipped Drashi's mane in her affectionate way before smiling at him... she receieved a small smile back for her efforts.
Drashi knew his family could read him like an open book... but still, he was guilty for his crime. He had left Maion.
Still, apologies would do no good.... he needed to follow Sengdroma's orders. "Yes alpha." He said with a nod of his head before turning to leave. He broke his orders down, his mind liking simple points to connect and fullfill. 1. Find the rest of the herd. 2. Assess the situation -including possibility of calling on the Padmapani herd. 3. Inform the protectors of the situation. 4. Do his job... PROTECT! Simple enough. If he took the situation as he would when Sengdroma and Maion took their yearly weekend vacation to renew their vows to each other then he could get through this... the only difference was that he would be the one to put things into the place and keep them that way. No Maion to assist him.
Chandra wanted to follow her brother, she could see him hurting but trying desperatly to stay strong... she also knew he would see it as an insult to his strength if she called him on it. Men could be.... stubborn.... at times.
Then her mothers words reached her. In charge? With Io? True enough she had taken the responsibility once before, but usually it was Mal and Io not her and Io.... what was her mother thinking? Still she managed to get out; "Ok" in her confusion and then listened some more.
The truth was Chandra wore her emotions on her hooves..... she couldn't hide them very well, never had and probably never would. She knew why her mother wanted her to act as if everything was normal but... "I don't think I can Mummy.... I'm.... I'm scared." She admitted.

Io's heart fell to the earth, her father was gone? Her ears pinned back to her head and her body stiffened. She was mad, she was upset, she was scared. She moved closer to her sister standing next to her. She nodded at her mother's instructions. "Candra, we can do this..." she leaned into her sister. Between the two girls and their abilities, they would be able to keep the herd healthy. "We just... We just got to pretend"
--------------------------------------
Seng looked at her girls, "You will do fine, Chandra. I -need- you to do this for me," her voice cracked just slightly. "You know I can not leave Maion out there alone. I promise I will come back...I promise you."
"You know I wouldn't ask this of you, Chandra... But I need Mal and a few more of the others. You and Io are next in line should something happen to me. It's a fact we are going to have to face right now. I need you to be strong. Believe in me."
She was trying to convince herself as much as she was her daughters. She had never used her fighting in anything but sparring, to be honest, she wasnt' sure she was up to it.

Chandra was thankful for her sisters support, she nuzzled her gently and nipped her mane in that affectionate way of hers. "Just pretend...." she repeated, trying to give herself an internal pep talk. She knew what was being asked of her.... and part of her had always known of her possible succession despite the fact she believed it would fall automatically to Io and her mate since she was the eldest, or maybe even Mal since he was the middle child... but Chandra? The youngest of three, completly unable and unwilling to fight Chandra... that was another story.
She knew that watching over the herd was much more than pure strength, after all her mother would probably not be considered physically strong in comparison to many of the stallions under her command but her strength was in a different area.... her mother was intelligent, clear minded and objective. She had seen her mother spend many an evening lost in thought as she tackled problem..... so far her mother had lead them true and well, her father (Maion) ever present by her mothers side.
Chandra also understood why her mother needed to go..... if Sonnet was in trouble she knew she too would have to go after him, except her mother had the advantage of knowing how to fight. Of being able to defend herself through strategy and will power alone.... perhaps it was time Chandra allowed her herd to teach her more than the basics?
At last she nodded. "Ok mother...." She was being asked this task by her mother... but her mother was also her alpha, and an instruction spoken by the alpha was as good as law. Chandra just had to place her faith in her mother, faith that the much older mare knew what she was doing. Faith....
....was easier thought that done.
Still, Chandra would try. For her mother. For her father. For her herd. Not just because her mother and alpha had asked, but because she felt duty bound to help in the rescue of her father. "How will you find him?" She asked, she knew Drashi had looked... could tell by her brothers tormented expression. Still.... her mother may have a trick? A bond perhaps that Chandra didn't know of. She had heard rumours that mates, true lifemates, could always find eachother... was it true? She hoped so!

Io continued to lean into her sister, she stood their quietly as the two others talked. Her mind was racing, she didn't have much desire to speak, only to listen and see what the fates were to unfold for her family...
----------------------
Sengdroma nuzzled Chandra, then Io gently. "That's my girls," she offered a smile, however small it was.
Chandra's question came across her ears, "There are many ways to find what is lost, Chandra... Sofiel taught me to use all of my senses, not just my eyes. I know your father's scent... My eyes can track his blood.. and prints...My ears will help me listen for clues.. But most importantly... Most importantly my heart will find him." She bobbed her head slightly.
"I want you two to round up the herd, keep them close." she took a moment to look up to the stars and moon. She knew, somewhere, Maion was underneath the same sky she was. "I need some time to think," her voice faded off.

"Ok...." Chandra said, she was enjoying the warmth of her sister... she needed it. It was herd, family, strength.
She knew her mother was torn between needing them and needing her mate, but she had done what she could for her herd.... in the end of the day the worry that would surely lean on her mother at the disappearance of her father would leave her unable to think properly, she was doing the best thing for her herd... Chandra and Io both knew it. Sengdroma was leading them even now, trying to keep them safe and the strongest they could be... even if that strength was with her not there. It was in that moment Chandra started to realise something about her mother... she was a good leader, strong and understanding.... after all, she understood what was best for everyone and was strong enough to accept that it may not be her -at least for the moment. It made Chandra respect her mother even more.
"Good luck mother," She said, trying her best to smile in return. She had to keep faith, had to believe in her mothers strength and power.... after all... if anyone could bring Maion home it was Sengdroma.
