I need to know what will bring this place back to life. i need a good bloody well pop. >.< plus im trying to infuse some minor rping like unoffical rp's that are just like the pub. i will try and get afew like it for diffrent people and diffrent what not. i need to know peoples opinions >.O

The easy answer is dedicated people. Even if we had a single RP about, I don't know, a cook-off, if people were interested and active as expected, the guild would always look alive. User Image

i need a good bloody well pop.

lol You need what?

The obvious solution is to get more people in here. The more the merrier. The busier it is the busier it will get, because people will want to stick around more. That's why guilds that are dead stay dead, and the forums always thrive. Because they're fast-moving and most people are there.

TS, The problem is, and always has been, two-fold: We've struggled at recruiting members to get the metaphorical fire started, and to give the fire fuel. Members join up and essentially forget about us, no matter what we do.

yha. well atleast some of us are here. 1 in a 100 i guess

Yeah, 1 in 100. *raises hand to be counted in such*

Another thing is that mercenary RP is VERY directed/encapsulated, and will appeal to only a certain set of hardcores. It simply cannot have the wide/broad appeal of, say, Aquariums or chat forums, by its very nature.

Glad I'm a violence/military/merc RP hound. wink mrgreen

Coming in from the outside as I'm wont to do...it seems pretty obvious what your problem is. No offense, gents, but this place isn't exactly heartwarming and friendly, and stuff's WAY too complicated here. Like, wtf is the point of registering? That's a rhetorical question, durr. I know what the point is, but MY point is that does it really matter? It's little stuff like that which is kinda off-putting. That, and most of the threads on your first page are all pissy and moany and logistical and stuff and people don't really want to see that. It's kinda what everyone sees when they first get here. I totally ignored the subforums completely until someone told me to come here. So, as a new member, I see bitchy whiney threads and my first thought is, "Holy crap, these people are uptight". Am I right in that assumption? I got a feeling I'm not, but most people dgaf enough to stick around and find out.

I could care less what's on the front page. But if you care about what new members think, then you should probably care about it.

Also...this place is slow. neutral

who are you, you have been here for around a year. jw beacuse curiosity as they say killed the cat but satisfyed teh sences.

The problem with quality versus quantity is that...well, tis difficult to have BOTH. People can host a Guild that has uber-f*ckteen-tonnage of members...who post random, solipsistic blatherings about nothing much. That's a social-type guild.

When a Guild like the GML is looking for at LEAST semi-literate RPers who really want to play and are willing to put for the the effort to evolve into GOOD RPers...well, you're looking for more diamonds-in-the-rough than just your run of the mill/could give a sh*t Joe/Jane. Wanting *Quality* tends to keep numbers down by the simple law of averages.

One also has to take into account that online interest from people is a fickle variable: too many people these days require themselves to be the focal point of anything. Once they stop feeling like they're the star, they beat feet. Thusly, you have attrition.

Again, I understand this paradigm: those who are willing to put forth effort, work with others as a team to some extent, and have a mentality beyond a 'live for today and myself!' are more likely to find a better fit here.

Well...and those who want good RP with a militant theme. wink

Just my 10 cents-worth.
