As the sun began to fall down past the mountains, a mutated creature stirred beneath the darkness. Boi-Tatá very rarely went out when it was light, and tonight was no exception. It was just dark enough, that his eyesight wasn't impaired and even if it was, he knew his swamp well enough to get around. Cautiously, he stepped out from the safety of his cave. The swamp was just as alive as ever, but something had triggered his interest.
The stallion's ears flicked back and forth, facing forward, then to the side, trying to detect any sound at all. He could hear the slithering of snakes high up within the trees, the sound of gators slipping almost silently through the murky water, and something else. It was something that he wasn't familiar with, or was it someone? Bo carefully crept along, looking for the source of the disturbance.

Pirata had long been searching for just such a place as this - oh she'd thought she might have found it a time or two in the past but it had never worked out for one reason or another. Spiders were finicky creatures really - or at least her spiders were, and nothing but the best would do for her precious pets
And now at long last she thought she might have found it, the swamp contained much in the way of small prey for her pets and was secluded enough that when they desired a larger meal she wouldn't have too much trouble keeping it from becoming common knowledge. The low slung branched with their trails of hanging moss made the perfect places for her to hide and her friends to weave their webs. Oh yes she was moving in. No question about it.
"Go along and make your homes now my pretties" She urged the spiders along as they crept off of her and into the trees "Weave nice strong webs so that we might catch you a good meal" She encouraged them in a pleased voice.

The stallion silently made his way through the swamp. He could still hear the surrounding sounds of the swamp, but as he neared the source of his uneasiness, he could hear them die down, almost as if they were afraid of whatever lay up ahead. With a land such as this, it was hardly ever quiet, only when the creatures were spooked, did they remain silent. It seemed that the mutated stallion had a trespasser in his swamp. Immediately he filled with anger. No one should be able to make it this far in without his noticing sooner, how could he have let himself slip up like this? Shaking his head to rid himself of the thoughts, the stallion moved on.
It would do him no good to dwell over what was already done, and he had more pressing matters. Only a few yards off, he could hear the sound of spiders in unusual amounts. Immediately he was puzzled by the situation. For the most part, spiders seemed to be solitary creatures, and he had never heard so many skittering about all at once. Curious, the Stallion drew closer.

"What's that my darling?" Pirata asked, head turning to regard the large spider poised upon her back, the spider was rather large for its species and say drumming its feet rhythmically along her back - Pirata found the effect somewhat soothing even though she knew it meant the spider was agitated.
Of course only one thing tended to get the spiders this upset - the arrival of a stranger and so Pirata merely mentally supplied the spiders answers. "You don't say" She remarked to her pretties, extending her muzzle and letting the spiders leg tap dance over her nose for a few moments before she huffed and pulled back "Well we shall have to do something about that' She declared and turning about marched across the little clearing she had claimed as her own and into the remainder of the swamp, nostrils flaring as she scented the air for any sign of her intruder. "come out, come out who ever you are...my pretties wish to meeeet you..." She called out in a fake sweet voice.

Upon hearing the mare's voice the stallion was shocked. He wasn't entirely sure who he expected this intruder to be, but a mare was the last thing he'd expected. Some sort of giant spider creature would have come as less of a shock. However, the mare was here now and she was the one who had intruded. The thought irritated the stallion, that wasn't right it. Mares weren't supposed to get themselves lost in his swamp, he was supposed to take care of that for them.
Boi sighed a little. It didn't matter anymore how she had gotten here, at that mattered was that he had a new toy, he only hoped she was as much fun to play with as all the rest. Carefully he stepped forward so that he could see her while attempting to keep all but his eyes from her view. She might have gotten herself here, but the game was still the same, and he only knew one way to play it.

Pirata edged closer to the area she thought to intruder to be hiding within, her steps were guided by the increasing agitation of her eight legged companions - the closer she got to the stranger the more agitated and excited the spiders seemed to get. It was a method she had grown accustomed to following even thought her own senses worked perfectly well. The spiders seemed to have a sixth sense about such things - she assumed it was due to their predatory nature.
"I it i a shy one my sweets" Pirata told her spiders just as the stranger deemed to show himself "Or perhaps it is not another stranger at all..but another of your kin" The mare suddenly exclaimed in delight as she caught sight of the glimmering eyes and blinked her own in return. "Not food then my pets..not food, but perhaps a new playmate?" Pirata stated as she edged close, whisking a tail which seemed to nearly disappear towards the end as though melding with the fog of the swamp, her voice gaining a slightly wicked ring to it.

The mutated stallion was taken aback by the mare's words. This wasn't right! How could he play the game if she wouldn't cooperate? Boi-Tatá was frustrated but he didn't have very much time to think. Every second he could see her coming closer and closer to him. It seemed, that for once, he was not in control of the situation and he didn't like it at all. For a split second, the stallion debated on retreating but he couldn't allow this new mare to invade his swamp without confronting her first.
Finally, making up his mind, the stallion stepped forward and allowed the mare and her 'companions' to see him fully. It was a risky move on his part but he had no other ideas and simply hoped that she would still be as fascinated by his eyes as she was now. Actually, come to think of it, she had those same eyes. Boi stood a moment, entranced by the way they almost seemed to glow, but then immediately blinked and shook his mane to clear his head. He was falling for the trap that he often laid, and it was a deadly one. The stallion debated on speaking up, but thought better of it and preferred to let her speak first.

Pirata seemed absolutely delighted as the green stallion came forward to show himself completely "He has no pets of his own my darlings...but sharp teeth and pretty eyes" She continued prattling on to her spiders who spent the majority of their time showing the stranger they're fangs."A handsome addition, pretty and green just like our new home!" She stated as she edged closer glittering multi-eyes keeping a sharp lookout in case this wild new 'pet' decided to act out.
She'd had pets like that before. Troublesome...but fun. "Does he have a name?" She mused almost to herself although the slight uplilt at the end revealed it to be a question instead "We don't know..." She said.
'We don't know because he won't speak to us!" She continued with an irritated tone to her voice "It shakes it's head but keeps silent, it is not dumb though I can see some smarts in his eyes"

Boi was relieved when the mare stayed where she was and continued to talk. He didn't know how strong she was, but if it came to a fight he'd really rather not have to find out. Sure he might be smart, and he might even have a bit of muscle, but the stallion wasn't about to stick around and risk his own hide if any sign of danger arose.
Alert for any danger or hostility, the stallion thought over his words carefully. "Boi-Tatá" He replied to the mare, answering her question. "I'm Boi-Tatá. And what of you? Such a beauty as yourself must have a name too?" The stallion really did hope that this mare responded to flattery in the way all other mares tended too. It'd be a pity for him to upset her so soon, for he wasn't lying. Her eyes fascinated him, he had never known another of his kind to have eyes like that.

Pirata's ears flicked back and forth as the stallion spoke and she turned her head slightly to better regard him from her glowing multitude of eyes. "Shhh.." She hushed the spiders as the strangers voice caused them to skitter across her body though it was clear that her attention was only partially on her pets. Blinking her eyes she gave a satisfied snort. "Knew you could speak" She told the stallion before turning away and heading back towards the webs her little friends were building. She gave a little flick of her tail though it wasn't completely clear if it was a dismissive flick or a 'come hither' flick.
At least not right away. Once she'd reached the webs it was clear she'd expected the stallion to follow. "The slave has run off again...I will have to track her down again soon" She stated with a slight huff before turning about to face the stallion again. "Pirata Noctis" She told him "But you may call me Pirata...for now"

The stallion eased himself across the muck of the swamp to follow after the mare. At first he hadn't been sure if she'd invited him to do so, but he wasn't about to leave. Oh no, he needed to find out what she was doing here. This was his swamp and he wasn't about to share it. At least not with some strange mare he wasn't very sure of.
As he followed Pirata, the stallion noted the webs that the spiders were beginning to make. They weren't unusual to him, plenty of creatures lived in the swamp including spiders. Boi-Tatá navigated the webs with ease and came to stand beside the mare. No more fooling around, he needed to know why she was here and how long she intended to stay.
"How did you come to be in my swamp?" He asked the mare, his voice perhaps a little bit more vicious then he had intended. This was his swamp, and he wanted to keep it that way.

Ha! So he had followed her - she'd thought he would now that she had gotten close enouh to get a good sniff of him she'd realized she'd scented him a few times on her way into the swamp. She assumed that he must live here and of course his next words confirmed it, the nasty tone he used when confirming her suspicions had her arching a brow however and she sidled up closer to the stallion. "Does he not like company? He is a horrid host" She declared seemingly to the spiders in an annoyed tone before returning her focus to the stallion.
"I walked in, it was quite easy - follow the grass..stay off the murk, listen to the spiders..they are quite good at sensing dangerous terrain" She told him in a seemingly cheerful voice before suddenly flattening her ears "A good host offers welcome, does Boi'Tata not welcome Pirata? Angry guests are not fun guests..." She asked, her voice dropping in a dark manner.

Immediately the stallion regretted the tone of voice that he had used with the mare. He didn't particularly like the fact that she had just wandered into his swamp without his noticing, but he wasn't about to pick a fight with her. Quickly he tried to amend the situation without causing any further damage.
"I was just surprised that's all." He told Pirata. "I'm not used to anyone just wandering into the swamp, especially without my noticing it sooner." He continued on, hoping he wasn't managing to offend her further. He had heard her words, and he did believe that indeed an angry guest would not be fun for him. Especially one as unique as her.
"Is there anything I can help you find? You must have had a reason to come here." He asked, trying to be helpful and a 'good host'.

"There you see my Pets...he can be good" She told her spiders in a pleased tone as the stallion quickly backtracked with his anger and she stepped off to inspect a newly constructed web - if Boi looked close enough ti seemed almost as though the spiders were constructing a webbed..cave for lack of a better term, pulling and weaving together the local plant life to construct something something a bit more durable and thicker then an ordinary spiders web. There wouldn't be much point in building such a construction unless she planned on staying and turning back to Boi she gave him a pretty..if somewhat dangerous look.
"We are stealthy when we so desire to be" She told him with a motion towards her spider pets "But we are new neighbors" She told him briskly "No need to apologize for not coming to welcome me earlier, my spiders have found all the materials they need" Never mind that the stallion hadn't apologized or come to welcome her - surely he'd meant too and only forgotten once he'd met her.

Perhaps Boi might have commented on her apology statement if he wasn't too busy watching the spiders. It seemed that they were building a giant cave for lack of a better description. The way they formed their webs and worked the surrounding plant life into them they seemed to quickly begin forming a shelter of sorts. He assumed that the shelter was meant primarily for the mare as spiders would have no need for anything of the sort.
At Pirata's next words, the stallion turned to face her warily. He didn't like the idea of her moving into the swamp, not one bit. This was his swamp and it had been his ever since his mother had... had.. well since he'd finally been alone. He had to figure out how to get this mare out of her without a fight if he could avoid it.
"Oh neighbors?" He asked, trying to sound bored at the thought. "I'm surprised really. Most others I've encountered have hated this place. That's why I love it so, it's so secluded and I can be alone and at peace." he hinted to the mare. "I think it's so avoided because of the creatures you know. Gators, snakes, myself, and all sorts of nasties out there." He went on, trying to make the swamp less appealing to her. "Oh and not to mention all the muck and the sink holes. Those tend to be an unwanted trait for a home too." He only hoped he could persuade her she didn't want to live here.
