When Jagex changed the Achievement Diaries until Tasks they added a whole bunch of easy, quick tasks to the Lumbridge/Draynor area for low level players. The idea was to help new players find there way around the area and to learn about the available resources. It took me about 40 minutes to complete all these tasks and as I reward I received;
743,000gp
Mind, Air, Cosmic Runes
A sapphire Amulet
5 Herring
A Magic Staff
An Air Talisman
Red Dye
I GREATLY urge all of you to complete these mundane tasks. A free 743k is always nice, no?
All of the tasks can be completed within the Lumbridge area very easily.
I wrote down all the tasks on a sheet of paper, then broke them down into groups of what could be done at the same time. For example...
Mine tin.
Smelt a bronze bar.
Smith a bronze dagger.
Smith a bronze mace.
Smith a bronze helmet.
Equip an iron weapon *I used a dragger*
Equip an iron armor *I used a medium helm*
Equip a steel weapon *I used a dragger*
Equip a steel armor *I used a medium helm*
*I almost made the Iron and Steel things from scratch.
Doing the tasks in that sort of fashion will make it much much easier.
On a side note:
When you have to go into the Lumbridge catacombs, if you haven't already, collect all the statuettes and then sell them to the woman waiting outside in the graveyard. She gave me about 2k for them.

I don't recall having to smith iron or steel stuff, only wield them. In which case I bought from the GE. razz

Logging in the first time after they were released, I was attacked with Task completions. xp It was funny, as I was at Mossies, and there was a few things I was able to do with what I had there. Like the Ammo one, Iron Arrow one, which I just happened to have a few left from a previous drop.
My favorite was when I saw the task to obtain a hatchet. I was like, 0HAI, there's an iron hatchet spawn just North of me.

The most challenging were the using the minimap and running ones. Well, at least of the ones that I had to do, that didn't auto-complete themselves.
I've completed all available to me, except for the 4 activity ones.
Also, there are a few member ones that could easily be done by a f2p... One in the Karamja list, to pick 5 bananas. The other is in Varrock, an elite, to craft 100 Earths simultaneously. How n00by that Jagex won't let me do those...
