It was early, very early in the morning. The sun had barely risen, but Maia was up and about having taking a night off from patrolling she was up before dawn to get roam before school started.
She walked along, happy for the cold, because thus far it had been very quiet and well no seemed to be out. The park was empty save dodging the occasional dog walker. Why at 4 in the morning, Maia had no idea, but at least she was about in case the ran into trouble.
One would think in a city lacking normality, one would make their dog wait or limits night time drinking because really it was just insane for a civilian to be out now.
Maia stopped for a moment on a park bench towards the middle of the park. It was close to a shoveled path and not only that it was mostly out of the way. She could take a moment to try to rub some warm back into her legs without much fear of being seen.

A cat's job was never done. Certainly, many cats would nap a majority of the day away, but ********* seemed to suffer the opposite problem. She only slipped in an occasional cat nap when it was absolutely necessary.
The tailless feline could be seen at nearly any hour (varying from day to day), and today she was patrolling the park for more potential senshi. She had managed to locate a civilian who was walking their dog. Sadly, there was nothing special that the feline could sense about the starseed, but there was something she couldn't help but wonder.
Did this person have any dog treats? Eagerly, the cat began to stalk after the civilian. The large dog seemed quite aware of her presence, occasionally yanking itself to the side as if wanting to investigate something. "Stop that, puppy dog!"
If that's a puppy dog, then I am chopped liver! A pause in thought. Mmmm... liver...
The feline's ears began to twitch slightly, and ********* was snapped out of her drooling. There was a senshi nearby. With a smile, the feline trotted towards the sensation. Soon enough she found not only a senshi, but a bench as well. "Hello Sailor Maia! We meet again!"

Maia looked up at her name and around before she spotted *********. She jumped up with a smile. "Hello *********! How are you? I did not think I would run into you again, but here you are."
Maia smiled at the cat before moving to sit back down on the bench. She really could not believe she was meeting the cat again, and really hoped nothing strange happened. No, she did not think she was quite up for a battle just yet. She was cold and really the bench was helping.
Maia patted the bench, "Sit with me, not many come past this way, so we should not be spotted. I need to take a break. It very cold in the early mornings, my legs are quite use to it, just yet. I do not wish to make myself sick."

The cat giggled a bit before hopping up onto the bench as well. None could accuse the manx of being graceful, for she landed rather heavily onto the seat-portion of the bench. "You make it sound as if I am a magician with a disappearing act up my sleeves." Cats didn't exactly have sleeves, but ********* was certain Maia could get it.
Without any hesitation, the feline wandered over and settled herself in right in the senshi's lap. It was like having a big warm water bottle underneath her, and in all honesty, ********* was probably like a mini warm water bottle at the moment. The guardian purred slightly. "Is this a bit better?"
Shifting her weight slightly, as cats were prone to doing, she eventually asked the question. "I see that your hair got cut since the last time I saw you. It looks nice."

Maia smiled as ********* settled onto her lap, the extra bit of heat was really just what she needed. Unlike most senshi Maia was nearly fully covered, it was just her legs that needed a bit of warming up. She wished senshi skirts were a bit longer or came with tights.
She looked down to ********* and nodded, "It is warmer. I do not understand why our outfits cannot change with the season. I think I will need to bring a pair of tight of legging with me next patrol." Maia gave a small laughed and gave ********* a scratch behind her ears.
Maia blushed at the mention of her hair cut and mumbled a quick thank you before she admitted that is wasn't her doing. "I was in a battle with Sailor Tisiphone, or at least I believe it was her. She had this void attack that ... well it ... it went through my hair and ate it. It was during the coma and my brother cut the rest off. I had to go to the salon later to get it fixed. I am glad that it looks nice though, it was a hard blow to loose my curls."
Maia smiled, "Its more manageable now though." Maia looked off over the snow, "A lot has happened in the last 10 months. Sometimes it still seems like a dream. Especially with the princess' appearance."

********* was a chipper cat. She was upbeat and usually pretty positive. Yet, one name actually caused the feline's fur to stand on end in an agitated fashion. The manx was careful to not let her claws bother Maia's lap, but they also clenched out slightly. Pale ears flattened upon her head as one name was vaguely hissed out. "Sailor Tisiphone... I know of her..." What the corrupted senshi had done was unforgivable.
"You are damned lucky to only lose your hair then, Maia!" Some were not nearly as fortunate. Sailor Scheat had not only lost part of her shoulder, but lost her starseed and her life. It was a sore point for ********* and had put Tisiphone on the very short list of ********* hateables. Taking in a deep breath and filling her kitty-sized lungs with the crisp cold air, she attempted to calm herself down.
The mention of the Princess' appearance managed to catch ********* attention, and her ears resumed their normal upright positions. "That was not the Princess." It was a fact. How ********* knew it, she didn't say, but it was a fact she knew. "What is more puzzling are those crystals that have appeared." The cat nodded as her fur finally began to calm down.

Maia looked to ********* brief tensing and wondered what was wrong, but at her words she nodded then smiled. "To tell you the truth, after I used my attack on her she fell of the roof, but then she appeared at the bottom and ran for it. I do not think she can handle my attack very well."
Her attention did a full 360 at ********* words. Not the princess. It made her hmm and seem to go off as she thought on the subject. It was very interesting topic and even more so, did she ********* say crystals. Oh yes, crystal. She looked down.
"Two have showed up now. One at Halloween, one in wrestling. The Basterds, the teams I joined have been trying to keep tract of everything. The first went to a boy, tiny and dressed and blue. The second to a girl, but I do not know who she is. I got tossed out of the ring pretty early on. It hurt a lot."
Maia continued to pet *********, but started to think out loud, "I want to get one, even if it is just to see what it does. Its hard to keep on track with crystals though when you are being attacked and even taken to space. That still seems like a dream."

"Bastards...?" The cat blinked slightly. "...children born out of wedlock?" ********* assumed it was a team name, but wasn't that the literal definition of a b*****d? Somehow ********* managed a shrug. Maia was offering plenty of information. The manx had only been present for the Masquerade, so the information about the wrestling scenario was music to her ears. Somewhat ironic considering the senshi she was talking to.
Rather notably, the cat's triangular ears twitched at the mention of one word. "Space?" For a moment, her head bumped against the senshi's side, as if asking for her to explain further.

Maia laughed at ********* reaction to her team name, "Yes, that is what it means, but our team name is spelled with an e after the t. I think Europa means to be a play on the movie Inglourious Basterds. The Basterds in the movie were a group in World War two that fought Nazi's."
Maia was a bit spaced so she did not really hear ********* at first when she asked about space, but the bump for the kitty brought Maia too again. "Oh yes. Myself and several others scout. Um, lets see if I can remember, Europa, Bellatrix, Themis, Polaris, Castor, Nemesis, Iris, Eskimo ... uh hmmm, Lyra, Perseus, Merope and an eternal scout with a bell that did not give her name. We met a guy name Kurma and he took us to space using our cellphones. He made it so that we could call home, our past home and go there. We all did, but when I went my would was in ruins and no one was there. I saw stuff, glimpses, I think of what it was like."
Maia looked down to *********, "It was all very strange and hard to take in. What's more is before we went we were chasing a youma. None us had been able to take it down. It took all of us to destroy it. That isn't common is it? Do you think it has anything to do with the crystals, or even the Kurma guy, not that he wasn't nice."

"Hmmm... well, I am not a house cat, so I guess that would explain why I've never heard of that movie." It wasn't like the feline had time to sit around and watch TV or movies. Every so often she'd walk past a store that had televisions at the door to display the fact they had televisions, but she rarely paid attention to them.
Resting her little kitty chin on the girl's lap, she listened to the list of senshi that supposedly went to space. Her head nodded each time she heard a name she was familiar with. That was equal to four nods. She recognized one name the most out of the group, but she decided not to point it out. It wouldn't achieve anything to mention Iris, or mention the fact Iris hadn't said anything. If the Senshi of rainbows did not feel like sharing that information, then it was Iris' deal, and not *********. The manx had a feeling she'd eventually spill the figurative beans.
"Why do you think you are on Earth now, Sailor Maia?" The redhead had mentioned herself the home world was in ruins. There wasn't much that could be done to fix it in all honesty.
The feline's ear flicked slightly as the girl asked about the youma. "There are many types of youma. Some are easy to take down, and some are not. Not all youma are created equal. Maybe it has to do with the crystals, or Kurma. However... I doubt it."

Lily gave a light laugh at ********* statement. Of course she would get to watch much television. "Yes," she said, "I don't suppose the guardians cats have much, with awakening and debriefing senshi. Which reminds me I would like to speak with you about chibi senshi, but later."
Lily sighed thinking on ********* question and frowned lightly when the answer came to her. It wasn't the answer she thought it would be either. "I am not entirely sure, but I do not think it is to find the princess. I feel like that is less important right now. Right now, I am most worried with what happened to my own world and preventing it from becoming earth's fate. I also want to know what purpose the crystals serve in all this, but I've no doubt Europa will figure it out from the information the team gathers on them. I am also a bit worried about the possible threat the two claimed crystal might pose. We do not know what they do or who actually has the second aside from her being a girl."
Maia appeared to be lost in thought when ********* next spoke, but she nodded in response to the statement. She sighed lightly, "Yes, I guess you are right after all the queen seems to be able to charge them up making them much stronger ... but speaking of Kurma he knows about the Mau techology. It was through our phones he gave us the ability to call home and be there. We are tasked with teaching others."

********* had only encountered one chibi senshi before, and it was the one she had awakened. Sailor Chibi Hugbell.
The next thing ********* would say perhaps was a bit of a shocker to anyone who was familiar with a different gray cat with a different personality. "Your reason to be here is whatever you make it to be." Astraea would have probably thrown a fit if she had heard that. Different cats had different opinions. Or perhaps the manx just had enough faith to believe a senshi would know what to do when the right time came. She didn't mention at the moment the fact the only senshi she had any sense of decision-making about were her girls, still two in number.
The cat snuggled further against the girl's lap. "Kurma does? You don't say?" Somehow the voice was too pleasant and not nearly surprised enough. Somehow, it seemed as if the feline wasn't even phased by the mention of space travel through phones.

Maia gave a bright smile at ********* words and let out a small sigh of relief. "Those are good words to hear. I will admit after you awakened me I didn't not really really understand why the other's seem to be set on finding her. It was a pull some have, a loyalty and it is easy to get caught up in that, but than when I really think about it Im not sure I have it. I will admit it was heartening to see the 'not the princess', as well as disappointing and confusing, but I not sure if it was for me or for the others because it was like a glimmer of hope," Maia looked up to the lightening sky and sighed, "does that make sense? I am still a bit confused, sort of all over the place. Its hard to keep it all straight."
Yes, she had gotten caught up in the whirlwind of being a senshi and what that meant for others. Though, while it was taking a good amount of time and her thoughts and feeling on the matter were jumbled, she was starting figure out what it meant for her. She would figure it out in time.
Maia blinked, wait what did ********* say. She gave the cat a curious look. "What's that suppose to mean? Do you know Kurma ********* or rather do you know of him?" Her question regarding chibi senshi forgotten for the moment.

Remaining curled up in the girl's lap, the cat purred out "Makes perfect sense to me." The cat had her loyalties, but at the same time, she wasn't nearly so bullheaded to not try and understand how the senshi could vary, person to person. So far she had two girls, and they were completely different. One accepted her duty grudgingly, and the other didn't seem to question her responsibilities in the slightest. They did not understand many of the important things, such as the Princess, but it was also not something to force on them.
All senshi felt confusion, and even if ********* didn't have all the answers, she tried her best to understand. So even with all the jumbled words, she still was able to understand.
The mention of Kurma again didn't seem to cause the feline to stir. "It means what it means. I've never met a Kurma, but the universe is far larger than any of us can understand. It just isn't surprising that Mau technology is known of."

Maia smiled feeling for the time understood and less confused. She wondered if she should relay her conversation with ********* to the Team, but knew she would. All information was important to the team.
Maia nodded her head to the comment about Kurma. It seemed even though Kurma had the answer to unlocking their past he was a bit unsure in things like how any of them got to earth or even he himself. She still wondered however, he was able to make the phones do the extradinary in helping a senshi travel through space. She would have to find and talk to him again someday.
"Well then," said Maia looking to the ever lightening sky, "one last thing and then I do believe I should head off to school." Maia looked to ********* obviously concerned about what she was about to speak on.
"Chibi Senshi," she said as though the meer thought was a travesty. "Why so young? It it really necessary to bring so young into the fight? I have to say many senshi do not agree with the comcept and are quick to agree that it seems wrong. The lack of sleep often weighs heavily on us teens . I can't imagine an 8 or 9 year old going through it. Mysterious bumps and bruises, unexplained breaks and sprains. Its a bad way.
