Kali wasn't really sure if Luka was allowed to come with her, but she also wasn't really sure if she could get rid of him. She didn't have one of her jars on her; she only had two, and they were both mysteriously missing. She blamed a conspiracy of Katia and Luka for that one. But, she had no proof. Katia seemed to be in hiding, and Luka? Well, he was currently hanging off her fingers. She grumbled, shaking them, but the little Shadow merely fluttered his wings and hovered a bit. No use.
So, sighing, she realized she had no choice. Raising her hand, she knocked on Mizu's door, and waited for someone to answer. Hopefully Luka would let go before then.

"La! Lalala!" On the other side of the door, Kouki's excited form floated as he heard the knocking. He'd seen who was outside the window, and had been immediately thrilled upon spotting Luka and Kali - it had been some time since he and Mizu had gotten to see them. Moments later, Naoki came to the door, shooing the noisy shadow away before answering the door.
"Hello Kali; thank you for coming on such short notice. Yua and I really appreciate it. Come in, come in." He stepped aside so as to let the young woman in, gesturing for her to enter. "We got called in for an important affair, and we didn't want to leave Mizu here alone..." They didn't do much of that anymore, after the last time their son had been sent to the hospital. Apparently, their paranoia for his life had only grown worse after that. "Come, Mizu's in his room."
"La la, lala!" Kouki chirped happily, coming to a stop next to where Luka was sucking on Kali's fingers. Apparently, Naoki didn't mind the other shadow's presence - perhaps Kouki had caused him and Yua to become used to them. Mizu's mother in question wasn't present, currently - she was getting ready in her and her husband's room.

"Thanks, but it really isn't any trouble. I wasn't busy." Kali smiled. "I'm looking forward to seeing Mizu again. Is he in his room?" She smiled at Kouki as he approached, and smiled wider when Luka let go of her to hug his friend, trilling. He petted Kouki's scarf, snuggled him, and looked around. Where was Mizu? Was he sleeping again? Could they play hide and seek?
He was very excited. He hadn't been here before.
"Ooou..." he cooed lowly, fluttering over to a family portrait. Viktor had one of these! He pointed at it, chirped, and looked around. There was just so much new stuff to look at!

Naoki nodded, leading Kali to his son's room. "Yes, he had his nose in another book the last time I saw him." Mizu's father gave a light rap on his son's door before turning the knob and cracking the door open. "Mizu? Kali's here." The boy in question lifted his head out of a novel that he'd been flipping through as the door creaked. He smiled upon hearing this news, his eyes twinkling with something that may have been excitement, before he nodded softly, waiting for his father to let the girl in.
The sickly teenager sat up further in bed when Naori finally let Kali in and gave her a small grin as he marked off the page in his book. "Hi Kali...it's been a while." Really, the boy had been quite overjoyed when he'd heard that the redheaded girl would be coming to watch him. He'd been getting lonely as of late, despite Kouki's company, and he was looking forward to having another teenager to talk to, even if she WAS older than he was.
"I'll leave you two to catch up." Naoki said with a smile. "The emergency numbers are on the fridge; feel free to help yourself to anything in the kitchen." With that, the man left to meet with his wife so that the two of them could leave.
Kouki sang happily as he snuggled Luka in return, happy to finally have another shadow around. It had been so long since he'd seen either Cain or Luka, and while it would have been lots of fun to have both of them over, he was happy with just one of them. "La lalala, la!" Kouki nodded in affirmation to the small picture that Luka had been pointing to on the mantle. There were many, many things that he could show Luka! In fact, there was something that he could think of right off the top of his head - his music box! "La, la lalala!" The blue-eyed shadow chirped and took hold of Luka's hand to tug him off towards the room that he and Mizu stayed in. He was sure that Luka would like it!

"Thank you, Mr.and Mrs.Hamasaki. Have a nice evening!" She called after the man, smiling as she turned to Mizu. "Hey, Mizu!" She smiled brightly. "What are you reading? How've you been? Are you feeling better?" She was as full of questions as Katia was.
Luka zipped after Kouki, looking at everything with wide eyes. But just his eyes. Viktor had said looking was for your eyes, not your hands, and he wasn't to touch anything. Or STEAL anything - but he was still working on that last one. Did touching include putting things in your mouth? Oh, being good was so hard.

The boy smiled, and it seemed as though he wasn't bothered by all the questions. A conversation was a conversation, and he was happy to be having one at all. "It's just a manga - Gravitation." He wasn't sure if Kali read stuff like that, or if she even knew what a manga was - some people gave him funny looks when he said the word. "And I've been alright; I'm feeling a bit better, but Mom and Dad still don't want to let me up." The impling teen scratched the back of his head sheepishly and shrugged a bit. "They don't want me hurting myself again. How've you been? Anything interesting happen lately...?" He imagined that anything she did must have been more interesting than what went on in this house. It was always so boring around here.
Mizu looked over as Kouki zipped into the room with Luka and picked up the wooden music box that was sitting on the nightstand. It was the shadow's favorite possession, and he loved showing it to people. "La, la la!" It made such a pretty song too! He opened it to demonstrate, letting the soft tune fill the air.

Kali smiled, sitting down on the edge of his bed. "We've been good. Luka's a pain, and Katia and Dimitri can't get along to save their lives, so it's never exactly /boring/ around there..." She laughed, peeking over at the manga. "Gravitation...You know, I looked at it, but I've never really read it before. Do you have any other volumes?" She smiled.
"Ooo! Lu, ja~!" Luka leaned close to Kouki, reaching out to touch the lid. He closed it, for a second, then opened it again, fascinated at how the music started and stopped. Kouki had such a cool posession! The music was so nice, and pretty... He cooed, looking over at his friend. Where had it come from? He was sure Katia would like one; not that he would ever take something that belonged to a friend, like Kouki, but he wasn't above taking one from those store places, that just left stuff out on shelves for everyone to take home.

"Dimitri? Who's that?" Mizu was immediately curious when Kali mentioned a boy who he'd never heard of before. Was he another of her cousin's? He could only imagine so, since it sounded as if Katia may have been siblings with whoever Dimitri was. "Are you cousins with him too?" It sounded like things were lively at Kali's house either way. The blue impling wondered if he'd ever get the chance to visit there. The boy's ears perked up, and he was pleasantly surprised when the redheaded girl mentioned having looked at the manga before. Did that mean that she read them too? "Yeah, they're all on my bookshelf. You can borrow them if you want...it's got, uh...gay guys in it though." He flushed a bit and gave her a slightly embarrassed smile. He hadn't told his parents yet, and he hoped that Kali didn't mind that sort of thing. Not that he didn't like girls too, but he'd been finding quite recently that he held a liking for both genders - he was still trying to wrap his head around it.
"La, lala!" Kouki smiled, glad to see that his friend liked the music box as much as he did. He chirped in response, pointing out the window to a store a little ways down the street; Mizu had asked his mother if she could get the pretty little box for Kouki, and she'd gone to that store to get it. Kouki had only been in the store once, but he thought that it was a wonderful place, filled with so many little trinkets. "Lala la la! La!" Perhaps they could fly over there later! The shadow certainly wouldn't mind going back there for a visit.

"Yummy. Yaoi." She stood and walked over, browsing through until she found the first volume. She plucked it from the shelf, and took the second just in case, returning and crossing her legs as she settled onto the bed.
"Yeah, Dimitri's my cousin. Viktor adopted him. He...was given to him, by that girl, Darcy." She frowned. "You probably don't know her. I don't either, but she doesn't seem very nice at all." She shrugged, looking over at Luka and Kouki. They seemed to be having fun.
Luka nodded, poking his head against the window to look at the store. It looked like fun. They should go. They all should! It would be lots of fun. He was sure Mizu would like the store too. Wouldn't he? "Lu?" Was Mizu still sick? He remembered him having to go to the hospital, with Kali. That had been pretty scary...

Mizu couldn't help but feel relieved when Kali wasn't bothered by some of his taste in manga. Not only did he have someone to converse with, but now he had someone to talk to who had similar interests as him! It was like a dream come true! "Darcy?" The boy blinked, a confused look on his face. "I can't say that I've ever heard of her..." Why would she give a child to someone? Had Dimitri been hers? Or someone else's? It sounded so strange. Then again, so was a shadow appearing in your hospital room. "Why did she give him to your uncle...?"
Kouki nodded and chirped in agreement. However, the problem was getting Mizu to go; he wasn't allowed, after all. "La! La lala la..." Mizu was always sick - the little shadow couldn't remember ever seeing the boy well in the short time that he'd been living in the Hamasaki household. It was normal, and there apparently wasn't anything that they could do about it. Kouki did, however, hope that perhaps Mizu would get better, even if no one else thought it would happen - he had to recover sometime, right? "La, lalalala!"

"I have no idea. She just did. He wasn't very happy when he first brought him home...didn't want him. But he likes him a lot, now. He kind of always wanted a son, but after aunt Elisa died, he swore he'd never marry again. Figured that meant he'd never have kids again, either. Guess he never thought of Darcy. Though, who would?" She shrugged. "Most people, even magic people, tend to forget about magic..."
Luka frowned. Well, they weren't going to leave without Mizu! And the Shadow really had never been one for not doing things he wasn't allowed to do. In fact, he tended to do those things more. They would get Mizu out of the house. He swore it. And if it meant fixing whatever was wrong with Mizu, well...so be it.
Little did the little Shadow know, there was very little he could do to even help Mizu; fixing him was just...impossible.

The sickly nodded slightly as if to understand, but was wracking his brain in reality. Mizu REALLY wanted to know why someone would just up and hand a kid over to someone. He doubted that he'd be getting any answers any time soon though, since Kali obviously didn't have any answers for him. So, he started another conversation. "That was the first time I'd ever seen it. When you used your magic?" He added the last bit after realizing that she might not understand what he meant. "How did you learn how to do it? Is it hard?" He truly was quite the curious thing.
"La la..." Kouki fluttered back down to the nightstand, setting his music box onto it carefully. He knew that Mizu wasn't allowed to leave the house - not without his parents' permission anyway, and he doubted that Yua and Naoki would be letting their son go anywhere for a while. But maybe...they could bring something TO Mizu? "La la, lalala?"

"Using it isn't the hard part." Kali said, closing the book. "Controlling it is. When your magic surfaces, it's...unstable. It responds to your id, your subconscious." She thought back, to the day hers had been unleashed, on those unsuspecting boys. For the longest time, she hadn't been able to remember... But now she did. She remembered their heads swelling, their faces turning purple, the gasping and the choking... And the blood. The blood splattering around her as the bright light faded.
She was gripping the book hard, and her hands were pale. She assumed her face was, also.
"Sometimes...it's not pretty. But when you learn to control it..." She took a breath, and summoned the sparks to her fingers, letting them dance up and down her arm. "It's, well...magical." She turned, and grinned at him.
Luka looked out the window again, and nodded. They could, should, bring something to Mizu. "Lu." He said, jerking his head in the direction of the door. They would go, now, and get something for him.

Mizu didn't claim to know Kali very well - this was only his second time meeting her, after all. However, he could still tell when something was bothering her. Did it have to do with what he'd asked about magic? He hoped not - he hadn't meant to upset her! To his surprise, however, she seemed to recover quite quickly. The sickly boy watched in awe as she manipulated the sparks. It was so cool, like something you'd see in movies. "That's...it looks amazing..." He wished that he could do it. Maybe then he wouldn't be stuck in this bed all the time...
Kouki nodded in agreement; Kali and Mizu weren't paying attention. They could leave and be back before either of them even noticed that they were missing! "La lalala!" The red-clothed shadow flew out the door, dragging Luka along behind him. They had to hurry!

"Oh, it is." She said simply, letting the sparks explode into small puffs of smoke as she dispelled them. "But it's not all it's cracked up to be. It's...frustrating. It can do so much, and yet nothing, all at the same time." She remembered at the park, when she had only barely been able to help Mizu. There was something very wrong with him. And she, with all this power, all of her spells and skills... she could ease the pain. That was all. She had only just met him, but... She wanted to do more. He couldn't have a life, sitting in bed all the time. There had to be something, anything she could do to help him. That, she knew, would require much more time, study... She wondered if he would let her.
Luka followed Kouki, out the door, and onto the street, headed for the little shop. Good thing Kali was busy. This was definitely something she would say no to doing. She said no to all of the fun things. She was boring. Boring Kali, with her boring rules, and - oh my god, the shop was so sparkly. He pressed his face up against the door and oohed and ahhed until he couldn't any more. Almost everything shone and sparkled and... It was so pretty... What had they come here for, again?
