With backpack in hand Klyde headed to town where he would be meeting Riyo at the park for some study time. While the pretense was that they would be studying science, Klyde had a little research in mind as well. He had been curious since the night he found out Riyo all but melted to having her ears touched and rubbed. So, in the name of 'science' his backpack was filled to the brim with not only his science study items but a few other odds and ends. It would be interesting to see what happened.
Once inside the park grounds Klyde took a seat at one of the picnic tables a ways off the path so that they would have privacy. Opening his bag he set his text book, notepad, and pencils out leaving the other items hidden for the moment. And from there he waited for Riyo to arrive.

Being none the wiser to Klyde's plans, Riyo toted her messenger bag into town with the sole purpose of helping him study. She was smart, and generally didn't have any trouble grasping concepts that were handed to her. Especially when it came to things like philosophy and language.
"Klyde?" She called as she reached the park, looking around. When her eyes didn't do the trick, she followed her nose to the best of her ability. She was no bloodhound, but his scent had been memorized by now so she could follow a small trail at least.
When he finally came into her sights, she opened her messenger bag and took out her books, setting them in front of him with a smile. "So, Mr. Dunce, What do you want to study first?" She asked as she sat down next to him.

"Mr. Dunce? I feel motivated already." To keep up the act for now he turned to their most current lesson in science class. While he wasn't failing....he wasn't doing great. He hardly had the attention span to get him through most classes, science especially. This occasion would be no different, he had far more entertaining things in mind.
Turning to his bag he grabbed something from its dark confines before turning back to Riyo. "Since I need to work on science why don't we start with some experiments." Finally revealing the laser pointer in his hand he hit the button, a red beam of light hitting the table which he moved about. "Maybe how light effects different elements." He waited for a reaction, studying her face thoughtfully.

Immediately retrieving her science book as he mentioned the subject, she began flipping through the pages. "How light effects different..." Looking up from her book with a raised eyebrow, Riyo's eyes looked towards the pointer he held in his hand... Then to the light it produced on the table. "And how the hell is a laser pointer supposed to accomplish anything on that subject?" Obviously she wasn't impressed or interested in the object. A cat she was, but that didn't mean she adopted all of the feline traits.

Frowning a little, Klyde set the laser pointer aside. He wouldn't let this discourage him, he had plenty of things to try. "Okay....bad idea. I've got to come up with a project though. Maybe...." Reaching into his bag again he produced a ball setting it on the table and rolling it back and forth between his hands. "Maybe the theory of motion then? Though maybe that's too boring?" Again he studied her face for a reaction, trying to keep a mental tab open on what she might respond to.

Setting the book down to pay him more attention, Riyo watched as he pulled a ball out of his backpack. Why the hell did he have a ball? Moreover, why was he suggesting all these stupid things? She wouldn't say they were stupid to his face because she didn't want to hurt his feelings... But seriously.
Tail flicking behind her, Riyo snatched the ball from him, holding it in her hands and examining it. "Sounds more like something for a middle school project." Was a kinder way of saying what she was thinking.

Ouch. That stung a little. But no matter. He noticed her tail flicking a little but that could very well be out of irritation. She seemed to be holding back some of her more colorful comments she used to like to use with him. Guess that was some kind of progress. But what should he try next?
"Alright, that's out then," Rooting through his bag again he set another ball aside to 'get it out of the way.' However, when this smaller ball hit the table it gave a bit of a jingle. Glancing up momentarily he went back to searching through his bag. "Maybe I should do a project on plants and the different effects they might have?" He asked offhandedly trying not to smile at the thought.

Ears twitching as Riyo heard the jingle of a bell, she sat the bigger ball down to 'examine' the smaller one, rolling it across the table with her index finger idly. "That could be interesting, I guess." She commented offhandedly, enjoying the sound of the bell and temporarily forgetting to ask the question why he'd have something like that in his bag. "What kind of effects are you talking about? On the environment or on people?" She asked, still staring at the round object. "Interesting fact. The plant called oleander is a very popular decoration, but can be fatal if ingested at a sufficient quality." She didn't study poisons religiously, but it was an interesting fact she'd come across at one time that fascinated her. Something deadly right under your nose.

Klyde smiled a little seeing her take to the little ball with the bell. It was intriguing to watch her roll it around enough for it to make a noise. "Well," His grin widened a bit as he pulled a small plastic bag from his backpack, placing it on the table. To any random person it probably looked like weed, but once the bag was opened it would be obvious that it was not. "Why don't we start with the effects on people."
He mused at the thought that she would probably take this as him asking her to light up a joint with him. Not that it wouldn't be interesting as well, but that wasn't what he was testing at the moment. He just hoped she would be curious enough to investigate the contents, otherwise he might have to give her a little nudge.

Riyo's movement soon stopped as she stared at the bag, eyes widening. Quickly looking around to make sure there were no cops around, she glared at him. "Are you stupid?!" She hissed under her breath. She had never seen mary jane in person before, but she had a vague idea of what it looked like... And sitting on that table was her vague idea. "I don't want some cops jumping my s**t because you wanted to pass around a joint in the park, now put that away." Honestly, what the hell was he thinking?

Alcohol was no big deal but drugs were a little more on the down low. Mental note made. "Come on aren't you a little curious? There's no one here." Picking up the bag again he opened it and lightly tossed it on the table in front of her. "I got the good stuff after all." He teased waiting for her to get a whiff of what it really was. "Not like I got it for myself."

Not only was he keeping it out, but he was opening it now?! Riyo's anger seemed to be growing... Until the scent hit her nose. Her face went blank and turned more toward curiosity. "W-what is that?" She had never actually been around catnip before, so she had no idea. Leaning over to take a better smell of it, her pupils seemed to dilate as her sensitive nose took in a bigger whiff. "My God. It's fantastic. I..." She took another breath and sat up straight, staring off into the distance. Her iris was almost covered up with black. "... I can see into forever."
Staying silent for a moment, she looked back down at the small jingly ball, batting it across the table with her significantly slower hand. "It's like... some crazy kind of noise making thing. Teehee."

For a moment Klyde thought Riyo might explode. The look on her face spoke of untold volumes of anger, but with the drop of a hat that all changed. He watched with avid curiosity as she investigated the bag giving its contents a stronger whiff. Chuckling at her statement and her random expression he reached for his bag again. This was just too good.
"Yes, noise making thing. I also have this one." Pulling his hand free of his bag he produced a ball of yarn. A little cliche but heck, why not? With a gentle toss it landed on the table in front of Riyo with a little bounce. "If you don't like the plant idea I can always go back to the theory of motion."

Jaw gaping as he rolled the ball of string on the table. "It's a ******** ball... Of ******** string. Delayed slightly she lunged for the object, immediately pulling back... a little too far. With a soft 'thud', she landed in the grass behind them... But she didn't seem to mind.
"L-look at how the ball is made out of yarn." She began pulling the single piece away from the ball, slowly unraveling it. "Isn't that wild? There's gotta be... Something deep behind that." Her words were clearly unslurred... But she seemed to have trouble gathering them. Remembering she'd spoken to him moments before the discovery, she turned up to look at him, black eyes sort of creepy. "Did you say something just now?"

As soon as the ball hit the table it seemed that both it and Riyo suddenly vanished. Brows furrowed Klyde leaned around the table to see her laying in the grass, enthralled with the make-up that was the yarn ball. "No, I didn't say a thing." Chuckling he grabbed the bag off the table and went to join Riyo on the ground. It looked like she was okay so there didn't appear to be a need to worry.
Taking a seat beside her he grinned with intense interest watching Riyo unravel the ball. Now...curious as always, he wondered what kind of reaction he would get if he touched her ears at present. Reaching out a gentle hand he pushed her hair behind her ear before grasping the tip between his fore finger and thumb to give it a little rub.
