They're replacing me. I said that I wasn't going to run for president again so I'm interested in whom this guild will back for my replacement. Any nominations?

Not worth the time or effort. An essentially bogus position that would make me a target...if I want to be a target I can do that without elected office.

But back to the question at hand, what about our current VP? Would he not make a good candidate? Don't look at me, I hide from the public eye... sweatdrop

Don't ask me, I am not sure of whom would be the best replacement would be either... I guess whomever is willing to do it. Then again, if I became a target during the last election I didn't really notice.

I suspect they have to be willing to deal with the abuse that comes with the position, and skilled in their debating as well. I'll have to mull over who I would nominate...I believe you'll be a tough act to follow, though. xd

As we proved with soporific, we can band together. Soporific got nothing for winning. It was a waste of time. Why are we gonna put oursleves through that hell again. If you all remember we had a lot of pissed of guild people for endorsing one canidate.

Lixnia I'm pretty new to Gaia, so I have no idea what these elections are about. Can someone explain them to me? The first (and so far only) Gaia election was several months ago. It was to prove the effectiveness of the IRV (Instant Runoff Voting) in preventing minority presidents. I decided to run, even though the office was pretty much worthless, and the guild backed me. We got some heat for voting as a block, but I won pretty conclusively even though there were more liberal Gaians here at the time. Immediately afterwards M-mann, SovietTankT34, and a handful of other far lefties decided to stage a Communist Revolution. This is my opinion of the outcome. It was pretty pitiful for a Communist Revolution, in any event. In any event, the only postivies that have been resulted in the mean time is the unofficial title I have, and a validation (however temporary) of the political views held by this guild.

I'm afraid that the good Colonel wouldn't be able to be as drastic as I would like without being admin access...for example, I would have liked to have seen an Iron Fist that had the power to strip Shem of all his gold and items, and then an auto-filter that would automatically ban him for a week for mentioning the word "right", "conservative", "Razak", or "LRG" in a post.

If I had some more standing around here I would throw my name in. I have real-life political ambitions anyhow. But without name-recognition and standing I wouldnt have a chance. I'd revel in the chance to be a running mate if anyone is interested.

I am reading a book called "The South was Right" and it is true the South -was- right and Lincoln was a dictator. I think we -could- consider secession. We are not of the same culture as the Liberals (like the North) and we are treated as second class citizens. We should break off and form the Confederate States of Gaia! Note: Please keep this relatively on topic (if you want to discuss Southern secession in a historical sense create a new topic) Come on...if I didn't make a wild suggestion everyone would get disappointed...gotta keep people happy.
