Hunter sat on the swing listlessly kicking his legs. This was the only downside to trying to be an independent young man. He was to short to make the swing move on his own. He frowned and kicked harder.

Kait watched him from a picnic table as she went over Riina's work. After a few 'incidents' during her preschool classes, Kait and Exile had deemed it a good idea to home-school her.

Howl was also at the park, lurking in the trees. Well, he wasn't really lurking. He was looking for his shadow, Puff; the small black dragonlike creature seemed to have disappeared entirely. He was still looking when he set blue eyes that should have been green on Hunter.

He smirked.

The boy seemed to be having trouble swinging by himself; so why not help him? The wizard muttered a word and gestured towards Hunter.

That would help him stay airborne anyway.

The little wolfling squealed in pride as he finally started to move. That would show that silly Riina that he didn't need anyone's help. He could do it all by himself. What did Riina know? She was just another yucky little girl. And everyone knew that girls were made up of lots of diseases.

He happily kicked his legs and imagined what it would be like to be able to fly. As he swung he looked around trying to find something to do next and maybe someone to play with.

Howl walked over to the swing next to Hunter and smirked at the younger boy. "Nice swinging skills," he complimented him, a knowing glint in his eyes. See? He could make people happy by lying. "Hunter, right?" he asked.

"Haven't seen you in ages." The last time had been at one of the many parties the Azoulais seemed to host. "Want to play?" Perhaps he was too old to play with someone Hunter's age; still... He felt the boy needed some guidance. He just didn't know why.

Hunter looked down and smiled. This was great! Even the older boy seemed to be impressed. He puffed out his chest a bit and stopped swinging his legs, letting the swing slow down so he could pay attention to talking. "Thank you." He looked closely at the boy's face. He looked familiar, but it took Hunter a moment to place his face. "Yeah. You're Howl right?"

He vaugley remembered seeing him at a few of the gatherings that mommy had taken him to. "Sure! What should we play?" He knew that it wasn't often that older children wanted to play with younger children, so he felt it was best to let Howl make the decisions.

"Good memory," Howl commented with a smile. He was liking this boy already. He reminded himself of how he had been when he was younger. He thought about the boy's question. "How about you pick?" he asked. "I don't know many games... unless you want to play tag or something."

Maybe he would feel dishonest enough to let the younger boy catch him if they did play tag. "What kind of games do you like?" Howl asked, interested.

Hunter thought hard on the question. He wanted to pick something that they would both enjoy, that wouldn't seem too childish to Howl. "Umm.....tag would be fun." He liked tag actually. He liked the way that the wind felt against him as he ran. "I like lots of games. Games that are challenging are my favorite. Like word games. Momma's really good at those. Daddy is better at things like chess." He laughed nervously and jumped off of the swing. "What 'bout you?"
