Yavie meandered through the field with no particular purpose in mind. Papa Ixen was off wandering again and Yavie had forgotten to follow him his time. Itov was off thinking about some girl fox and being more broody than usual. I don’t like being alone. It’s boooorrrrinnnng! I wanna chat and play with someone. Maybe I should go to sister Kit’s tribe and visit my Amy. I don’t have anything else to do and I don’t know where anyone else lives! Come to think of it I don’t know where sister Kit’s tribe lives either. I’ve never gone to visit her there. Does that make me a bad sister? I hope not. Yavie’s movement through the field of sunflowers stopped as this thought occurred to her. It bothered her to be a bad sibling. I want papa Ixen or papa Yuki here so that I can ask if I’m a bad sister. Her tail made a slow looping motion as she tried thinking more. Unfortunately for Yavie’s thoughts a small little bee happened by at the time and Yavie instantly locked in on it and squeal loudly. SO CUTE! Come here little fella. I’m gonna name you um.. mmm… Janis! That’s a pretty name for a pretty bee. Come back Janis. Yavie procedded to follow ‘Janis’ as the bee flew from flower to flower. After a few steps Yavie started humming like a bee.

"Well now, tha' be an odd noise y're makin' lass. Are ya tryin' ta communicate with yon little buzzer?"
The speaker emerged from curtain of sunflowers to Yavie's left. He was male, mostly black with some gold and red stripes. He would have been an unremarkable creature, were it not for the odd mask he wore. It was in the style of a pumpkin, the holes for mouth and eyes cut to resemble the jack-o-laterns humans put out in Halloween. His face was entirely hidden, but you could see the red gleam of his eyes through the holes.
The entire contraption looked quite bizarre, even inconvient, but the fox moved around and talked like he didn't notice. "Take care the wee thin' does no' land on yer nose. 'Twill be a fair painful greetin' he gives ya if he doesn, ya ken?" His voice was a little muffled by the mask, but you could clearly here the mirth behind it.

Yavie stopped and stood completely still. One foot was still in the air as if to head forward. Slowly she turned to face the speaker with the odd sounding speaker. Well I don’t know if I was really saying anything so I doubt that Janis would come back and land on me… Yavie’s eyes grew wide as she saw the odd fox with the mask. She blinked momentarily shocked by the mask. Sadly the blissful silence didn’t last long. Wow that’s a cool looking mask. What are you supposed to be? Is it hard to talk with that thing on? Why are you wearing it anyway? Oh I’m sorry I didn’t introduce myself did I? Papa Ixen is always telling me I need to introduce myself before I start asking questions. I’m Yavie. Yavie smiled happy to have someone to talk to who could actually talk back. He sounds funny. I wonder where he’s from. Yavie’s tail started waging slowly.

The male chuckled. "Yer a fiesty wee bumblebee yerself, Yavie. Ye c'n call me Yabetz." He shifted a little, brushing past some of the sunflowers so they weren't leaning on him.
"So many questions! Well now, Ah suppose Ah'm just mahself. Ah've worn this mask since Ah w's a wee little bairn no higher than me Paw's foot. 'Tis no' hard t' talk in, Ah've been doin' it f'r awhile now." Yabetz made sure to keep his speech as simple as possible. Occasionally he would let loose with some slang from his native tongue, and it appeared others had a hard time following what he said.
Not that he minded, he was happy to repeat himself if asked. He couldn't help his accent, but did his best to keep from throwing words out like "braw" or "chanking".

Yavie’s tail wagged faster when the male compared her to a bumble bee. She thought it was a good thing since bumble bees are cute little things. A few of the sunflowers behind her started to sway as she unknowingly thumped them with her tail. Ya know you’re not the first to say that I ask a lot of questions. Everyone seems to think that I ask a lot of questions. I don’t know why they seem always have to point it out. If I’m curious shouldn’t I ask? After all that’s how you learn. Yavie leaned down to get a closer look at Yabetz’s paw. He must have been a small kit to have only been the size of his paw. Straightening up she looked back at Yabetz. I like the way you talk Ya-bet-z. Where are you from? The name sounded foreign on her tongue. Yavie wanted to say a million other things but she was trying her best to practice being quite and letting others talk. Papa Ixen was always scolding her for that.

"True, true," Yabetz agreed. After all one usually did learn by asking question. "Ye jus' seem tae have a lot of them all a' once. Ye be leavin' others in th' dust." Not that Yabetz was complaining. He'd certainly been guilty of the same thing himself, once or twice.
"Do no' be lookin' at mah name f'r mah home. 'Tis from an entirely diff'rent place, a fair donner apart! Ah'm from a land th' humans call Scotland." Yabetz chuckled. "Twas a fair donner from there tae here, now tha' Ah think upon it. Ah miss mah home now an' again, bu' this place suits me fair enough."

I suppose I do have a lot of questions but I think others can keep up. Yavie offered a lopsided grin absolutely confident in her judgment. Where is Scotland at? Donner. I don’t know what that means. Sorry. If you miss your home why not go and visit every now and then. I go visit papa Ixen and papa Yuki all the time. I live right near them and they are always coming up and checking up on me. I once asked papa Ixen why he came so often and he said it was to see if any strange foxes were laying nearby foaming at the mouth and twitching because I talked to them. You won’t start doing that will you Yabetz? I really hope not. It would be hard to hold a conversation with you if you did I think.

"Ah'm sorry abou' tha', Ah fergot. Donner is like tae take a walk." Yabetz chuckled a little. "Ah should no' be thinkin' ye'd make meh foam at th' mouth, Bumblebee. Ah've held stranger conversations with pixies, ye ken."
Sensing he might be here for awhile, Yabetz decided to take a seat. It didn't bother him that this vixen had as many questions as a year was long. It was actually amusing to him. A lot of foxes found his personality and cheer a bit too exhuberant for their liking, so this was a nice change.
"I's no' just a longer donner tae me home. 'Tis an' awful long swim too. Ah got lucky and wandered over on a frozen bit o' ice, but i's gone at the mo'."

Yavie began to beam. I’m glad you won’t start foaming at the mouth. Umm.. What’s a pixes? Do they like to talk too? I’d like to meet one they sound like they could be a lot of fun. Yavie began to fidget. Yabetz was exciting to talk too. He has so many interesting things to say. I wonder how long he will stay and talk. Papa Ixen stays and listens until I start running out of things to talk about but most other foxes I have met like to leave when I haven’t even gotted started chatting yet. Only my Boni, my Amy, their friends and my family actually listen to me. You walked over ice to come here? WOW! Yavie’s eye’s widened. Was it really cold? How long did you have to walk? Wheren’t you scared the ice would break or melt on you?

"Well it were fearly baltic, wit' ice an' snow blowin' every which way! Quite chanking! Ah wasn' payin' much mind tae where I was goin'." All he'd really been thinking about was finding somewhere warm to get to, really. Yabetz was used to cool weather, but nothing like these ice storms!
The subject of pixies, though, was one he warmed to. It was something he grew up hearing about. Some stuff was repeats of what he heard, some he made up himself. Whether it was true or not was debatable.
"Well, pixies are wee toaty things. Ye could squish one under yer paw! Some have wings an' some don't. They all got sharp little teeth on 'em, and make naw mistake they'll bite! Pixies like tae go about causin' all sorts o' trouble for folks, they do."

Scrunching up her nose Yavie shivered a bit. I don’t like cold weather. It makes my nose all cold and I shiver a lot. It’s not fun at all. Ya know the only thing I do like about the cold weather is when Papa Ixen has teeny tiny icicles hanging off his nose. This one time he some and sneezed and they flew everywhere. Even Itov laughed at that! And he never laughs at anything. Yavie rolled her eyes at the end of her spiel to emphasis her point. Yavie leaned in. These little pixies sounded like a lot of fun. She held up her paw to look at its size. They sound like fun ; well except for the biting part. I think I would be really said if I accidently squished a pixie. Hey Yabetz how can you tell were a pixie has been? I don’t wanna accidently step on one when I’m out and about and not even realize it! Yavie’s ears perked forward as she watched Yabetz waiting for an answer. Her tail that had been waging came to at stop.
(oh dear… she believes him that they are real.. >.< *hides*)

Yabetz threw back his head and laughed. With his nose pointed at the sky it was possible to make out his lower jaw where the gap between mask and neck was. The laughter lasted for quite awhile. When Yabetz finally brought his head down you could see humor still sparkling in those red eyes through the holes in his mask.
"Icicles flyin' off his nose? Ah'd pay tae see somethin' like tha', it must o' been dead pure hilarious!"
Now Yabetz focused on the questions Yavie had asked him. "Weel, it's fair hard tae find th' wee beasties. Ye have tae look hard. Ah shouldna be thinkin' ye have tae worry aboot steppin' on one though, Bumblebee. No' unless ye have excellent luck an' stumble upon a nest o' th' blighters!"
((Well Yab's Scottish, he thinks they're real too >.< So no worries lol))

Yavie grinned. She had thought the icicle incident had been really funny too. Yeepers there we little icicle shards everywhere and papa Ixen rubbed his nose and scrunched it all up like this. Yavie attempted to replicate Ixen’s face making a funny one of her own. It looked like he had a bumble bee up his nose the way it was all twitchy.
Yavie nodded. O.k. That makes me feel a lot better knowing that I don’t have to look where I step. Have you ever come across a nest of pixies? What do their nests look like? Where do they like to nest? Could we find a nest of them out here? Yavie looked around at the sunflowers almost expecting to see the little pixie peeking back at her.
(that scares me even more)

Yabetz chuckled at the face Yavie made. He himself couldn't try to replicate it, what with his mask on and all making it impossible to really see his face.
"Weel, 'tis hard tae find a nest. They prefer thick forest land, or quiet fields o' flowers." Yabetz looked around at the maze of sunflowers that surrounded them. "Ah was lookin' fer some when Ah happened upon ye, tae be honest."

Yavie looked at Yabetz and started waging her tail again. I’d be more than happy to help ya look. I haven’t been here that often so I don’t know where everything is but I’m good at finding things. Itov told me that I can find a way to pester anyone. I know that it’s not a good thing but apparently it’s hard to do according to papa Ixen. If I can do that then I can help find anything I think. Shall we start looking for some pixies?
