Players: Renesme Carlie Cullen Crown Cullen Shoshana
----------------------------------------- Renesme led her elderest son to the meadow she had visited a lot when she had been pregnant. Now that she could see all of her children she suspected it was crown that had made her crave the blue flowers here, his pelt was the only one of the three that seems to carry the blue of his ancestors. Both his Grandfather and Great-Grandfather were blue, but his own father was more green. It made Renesme wonder if there would be any more throwbacks as her children grew.
Still, she was enjoying them all as foals far to much to wish them to adulthood just yet. Smiling softly she called to her son who was trailing behind, it seemed something in the distant had caught his eyes. "Come on Crown.... we can't be too long my dear." Patience was something Renesme had always had in bucket loads, and although they did have to be back soon so that the herd could christen all three of her children into the herd and bless them with a wish for long life and prosperity she would never do anything to destroy his curiousity.
The reason for their adventure to the meadow was simple, as part of the ceremony Renesme and Rune needed to gather the things that Renesme had craved while pregnant for everyone to eat at the ceremony, it made her happy that her tastes hadn't been exotic or Rune would have had to leave her overnight -something she had always dreaded. Somehow, sleeping snuggled into his side always made her feel safe and sound. Happy and at peace with the world. She hated being away from him for long... she supposed that was the meaning of 'lifemates'?
Crown looked up at her, that cheeky smile of his peeled on his face as she moved to catch up to her. Often she spent time wondering what all three of her children thought of the world they now lived in, far from the safety of her womb. Each was so different. Paris was sincere an gentle to his core. Eden was much more practical, setting her sights on something and going for it full on despite the obsticals before her. And Crown was... noble. Always caring for those around him, always wishing the best for others and hoping to please them. Yes, her and Rune had done well indeed. Three beautiful and healthy children. Crown had been thrilled that his mother had invited him on an outing. He loved playing around the herd lands, the flowers and plants that grew there fascinated him and gave home to lots of different animals. He had grown to love the 'frog' especially. It jumped and hopped with such spirit that Crown would often copy it in his play.
Still, he had wondered what lay beyond the 'safe zone' of the herdlands, he had never disobedied, nor would he. He was told it was not safe beyond the tree line without an adult until he was stronger and he believed them. The herds protector Maion was scary sometimes, huge in size and with four wings that made his mothers appear to be dainty and pathetic in comparison. With Maion and his protectors around him Crown couldn't help but feel safe in their care.... part of him hoped that one day he could join their rank. Keep everyone he loved safe.
They hadn't gone far from the herdlands, but everything was different. Even the feel of the grass below his hooves and th smell of the flowers seemed stranged. He stopped several times, attention drawn by one thing or another. Each time his mother would softly remind him that they had a task and he would follow her once more. Part of him felt guilty for allowing himself to get distracted but he felt as if she wanted him to, to learn and grow the way any child should.
He smiled, ear wings wiggling with excitement as he followed her. "What are we looking for Mummy?" He chirped. He had heard whispers that there would be a party tonight but he didn't know what it was about, or even if it was true. He had of course told Paris and Eden what he heard... though he wasn't sure his sister was particularly bothered by the idea at all. A shame.
Either way, Crown was just happy to spend time with his mother alone, because there where three of them he often found it hard to spend any real quality time with either of his parents.

She was careful as she peeked from the tree line on the opposite side of the clearing, looking around to make sure there wasn't anything threatening in sight. Satisfied, she walked, or at least rather waddled out from the trees. Her budging belly the cause of her waddle. Careful hoof steps landed lightly as she passed through the grass, looking for the foods she craved. Clover seemed to be a most usual craving for her but this time around she searched for honeysuckle vines and primrose blossoms. The movement within reminded her this search was well worth the effort to keep her little ones happy and growing strong. Though she loved apples and carrots usually she found herself unable to eat them for the lack of appetite for them. Actually they seemed to make her most ill when she'd tried so she avoided them now. A small wiggle and a push on the walls of their safe home inside her womb caused a smile that simply caused her face to glow and her eyes to twinkle like the stars themselves.

Renesme affectionally nipped her sons short mane at his enthusiasm and question. "We are looking for blue wildflowers.... they where one of the things I used to crave while I carried you, sometimes I am convinced it was your craving since you pelt is more blue than your siblings. Like your grandfather Aether and great-grandfather Scythe." She smiled at him, already she was so proud of all three of her children, but there was a spark in Crown that intreguied and ever surprised him, she often found herself considering what he would become as an adult. Her guess would be... a very noble stallion indeed."Oh..." His mouth made a large 'O' shape as he stared in amazement at the meadow ahead, wondering what exactly a craving was, and what blue wildflowers looked like. So far Crown had tried everything offered to him, finding favour with the latest flavour of the day. He had even made a little poem about all the tastes....
Sweet grass was yummy, but reeds tasted nummy. Apples where crunchy, but Carrots are funny. Petals are girly, but taste rather pearly. And all of it grows under the sun. ....Ok, so it wasn't a masterpiece, or even something he would share but he hoped he was getting better. He had heard tales from the older stallions that tell poetry is a good way to get a lifemate, make you appear 'sensative', whatever that meant. Crown didn't fully understand the concept of a lifemate -being only a child- but from what he had seen of his mother and father it was someone to be good friends with and to go in search of baskets with. And then the baskets popped into foals... like him and his sisters, and if the baskets opened at the same time they where siblings. He grinned, thinking himself so clever for working out so much.
Looking to the field he saw some blue. Running to it, with a happy skip in his step, he turned to his mother only to call.... "Blue Mummy! Blue! I found Blue!" Before setting off again.
Crown was so excited about seeing the little speck of blue in the distance that he wasn't really paying much attention to anything else around him.
Closer he came, and there before him was a beautiful blue.... something or other. Sitting down on his bottom he waited patiently for his mother to catch up, his tail flapping and flicking from side to side on the ground behind him.Renesme giggled as he son leaped away towards his treasure of blue, and she found herself unconcerned about it until she saw a white blur in the distance.... someone else was here.
Heart racing, mind full of panic she took off after him, eyes darting between him and the distant figure that was slowly gaining distance on them. Danger! Her mind screamed the word again and again, echoing in the very chamber of her soul. Her foal was in danger... she had done, she had brought him here.... it was all her fault. Renesme knew she would never forgive herself if something happened to him.
He was sitting down, utterly unaware of anyone there. She doubled her efforts, reaching him mere seconds later despite it feeling like an eternity. "CROWN!" she bellowed, her voice laced with her panic and fear. Again her eyes darted to the figure that was nearly in focus. She moved herself instinctively between her son and the figure as she spoke; "Get up... we have to go... not...." she had been about to say 'it's not safe' but her eyes focussed on the figure and recognised it for one she had met not too long ago, a season or so now, when she had been heavily pregnant with child. Now it seemed the tables where turned. For the mare, Shoshanna, was indeed with child instead.
She made a gentle 'shhhhhh' and other soothing sounds to a quickly scared and panicking Crown behind her before catching her breath and saying, "My mistake son. But I think we are about to have company.... be polite."
In a bigger voice she called into the distance between herself and Shosanna; "Long time no see old friend."

Her ears perked at the familiar voice in the distance. She had to think and look closely before the smile on her face became bigger. "Too true, I've been meaning to visit you but haven't quite found the time." She chuckled and picked up her pace, eager to greet her friend. As the distance between the two of them, she took note the smaller figure behind the other mare. " Do my eyes deceive me or can this little one with you be one of which you were largely carrying when last we met?" Her belly bulge had a small lump form to one side and then go down momentarily only to reform moments later when she stopped in front of Renesme. The foals within her seemed to be expressing their wish for more room.

Crown wiggled behind his mother, the fear her words had sparked had disappeared with her greeting to another... he knew she wouldn't have done so if it wasn't safe. Trusting her completely Crown moved so he could see their 'guest', he had been asked to behave and bahave he would, he would do anything to make his mother proud and to show her how good he was. Smiling he bowed his head politely in welcome -a motion he had seen the herd protector Maion do on several occasions. "Hello." He chirped, smiling softly. His little ear wings fluttering with excitment.
"My name is Crown." He said, looking to his mother for silent approval.
Renesme nodded to her son before facing Shosanna again. "Yes, I have indeed had my children. A season ago now. Three. Eden, Paris and this very handsome little boy; She said as she turned and nipped her sons mane affectionatly. "Crown." She gave Crown a quick wink before facing her friend again.
It was clear a LOT had happened since they last saw each other. Then it had been Renesme who had been pregnant, at the time she had still been able to venture from the herdlands... but soon after her belly had become so swollen that she fell ill and became unable to travel on her own. Thankfully she had had Rune -her ever loyal lifemate- Chandra -her midwife- and her herd -her faithful support structure- to aid her through it all, even afterwards when she had been struck with tiredness again and again they had helped her by watching over her foals as she rested. But... did Shoshanna have anyone to help her? In many ways Renesme feared that without Chandra's expert care and motivation not to fail... she would have lost either her own life, or that of one of her children. The birth had been rough.
She feared for her friend, knowing the complications all too close to heart but not wishing to scare her... fearing something worst, a miscarriage. "I see you are now the one with child. Congradulations my dear... may I ask? Who is the father?" Renesme was not going to judge if he was going to be there or not, it didn't matter if her friends pregnancy was the result of a one night stand or a more commited lifemating. All life was precious. All children where to be cherished. And something told Renesme that her friend was more than happy to be expecting.

She smiled at the little colt and nodded her head in greeting in return to his own. " Pleased to meet you little crown, I'm Shoshana, a friend of your mothers." She smiled once more and turned her full attention to her friend. "Such a handsome boy you have there, no doubt he'll be quite the little heart breaker when he's older."
Her ears gave a small flick and perked at the question of the father of her children. She wasn't embarrassed or ashamed to admit that it had been all an unexpected union. "His name's Oracle, he's a quite handsome young buck. Though he's unaware of my status at this time." She gave a small giggle. "It wasn't exactly a planned coupling, but no matter, I'm quite pleased and I hope I can find him in time to let him know before they arrive. If only that I'd like to let him know."

Renesme smiled softly at the other mare, nodding enthusiastically as the mare told her the tale of her pregnancy. It didn't matter that the mare wasn't mated, all children where a gift! And Renesme was sure that Shoshanna would spoil her children rotton when they arrived. "What are you craving?" Everyone was different and it was fun hearing all the unsual things, the strangest thing she had heard of was coal..... how did one even know the craving was for the stuff? She didn't know about others but for Renesme sucking Coal was not something she did on a regular bases.
She watched as Crown saw a butterfly and ran off after it, it brought a smile to her face. He was such a free spirit, she wondered if he even knew he was so curious about everything. "Yes, he is handsome like his daddy, his siblings are just as beautiful. Eden takes after her father and Paris more me I suppose... except his Angeni wings are much bigger than mine. Their father had larger wind wings you see.... stunning creature!" She beamed, Renesme was very happy with both her lifemate and her three beautiful children.

She giggled lightly watching the foal. "Mostly the usual things I'd eat like clover, Only I've also been looking for primrose to eat and the last one seems to differ from time to time.. some times it's blue bonnets and some times it other strange things.. like water crest. Though I can't seem to stomach carrots or apples." She frowned some. She loved apples and carrots most days but now she couldn't even stand the smell of another eating them. The scent nauseated her.
"I can only imagine how the others look from seeing just crown. Congratulations to you both." She grinned wide. She could see the happy look her friend had as she spoke of her mate and children. She didn't know the feeling but only hoped she might some day.

"They are stunning as well," she said with a wide grin as she watched her son play amoung the flowers chasing butterflies and insects. "Thank you!"
She smiled again, looking at the pregnant mare before her as she listened to the cravings, "At least your babies have picked fairly easy things to find... that's good. Do you have a feeling for them yet? Two or three?" Renesme grinned, she had suspected three from her three cravings, though it would have been possible that the third had simply been her own bodies craving rather than an additional child.... though she was exstatic there were three, all stunning and beautiful. So full of life and interest and unique.... and all hers!

She smiles as she felt a light kick to her side and a wiggle. "Some days I'd wager on it being three of them in there with the way they move and as active as they are though I could be wrong. I guess anything's possible and as long as they're healthy I don't mind if it's just two of them." She kept an eye our on crown as they conversed amongst one another. Sure he wasn't hers but he was the son of her friend and even had he not been Renesme's son, she'd have kept an eye out on him all the same. She knew the dangers that lurked about and what they posed to foals.

Renesme would have loved to have spent more time with Shosanna, but she had things to do and flowers to collect. "Crown dear, will you start gathering those blue flowers. We only need a few.... ten at the most I would wager." She said with a smile, glad that soon her three children would all be part of the herd officially, sure right now any member of the herd would take them in and care for them as their own.... but it was nice making it official. Nice that they had been accepted without a moments hesitation. They were the great nieces of the alpha and protector, born of Rune the son of Aether who was in Sengdromas brother..... strange how small the world turned out to be.
She returned her attention to her friend; "I would say three... simply based on your size already, you seem to be as big as a tree in comparison to when I saw you last." She chuckled, Renesme didn't mean it as an insult at all, she genuinely did love babies and think that the size of the bump was relative to the number of babies... even Chandra, the Miakoda herd midwife had suggested the theory, it was she who first suspected that Alice was due to have three children.
"I am sure they will be healthy, you look radiant." Renesme had noticed that most pregnant mares seemed to glow with pride and strength when pregnant, the glow was so special and unique it was hard to consider that anyone would know a mare was pregnant simply by the look on her face and the delicate feel of her pelt. She grinned, remembering when she first discovered her own pregnancy. Chandra had spotted the signs first -increased appetite, glowing skin, and extra emotional outbursts. It had been the best day of her life, and only half a season after they found out her mother was also pregnant. She beamed at the thought that three foals would soon be joining her own children in the world. Elegant and beautiful.
Crown turned his attention to his mother at his name, nodded and smiled before going to work. He ran straight to the blue wildflowers he had seen when they first arrived, there were several different types but being a boy he didn't really care much for the sutble differences. Carefully he gripped them by the stem and pulled, trying his best not to disturb the delicate petals.
It was hard work but before long he had collected ten... or at least he thought it was about that many, and started his way back to his mothers side with a wide grin despite the flower stems currently hanging out of his mouth. "gotastsata tem" (Got them) he mumbled through the plants.

She nodded at the mention of just the size of her. She figured it was possible as well. "Yeah... I guess I have put on quite a bit of weight." She chuckled. Her laugh however, broke down to tears at the warm compliment from her friend. She'd been emotional since her pregnancy but just hearing a nice complement from a friend seemed to cause her eyes to leak tears. "I'm sorry.. I'm a bit of a mess I guess.. I know you weren't being mean.. just you're compliment..." She sobbed a bit before sniffling and attempting to pull herself back together off her emotional roller coaster. "It was such a nice compliment..." she gave another sniffle and smiled looking at Crown as he came back, flowers in mouth. "My, such a big help you are to you're momma." She smiled wide.

Crown smiled and nodded to the mare before he realised she was crying. He dropped his flowers so he could talk; "Are you ok lady? You don't.... em..." He hesitated, not sure if what he was going to say would be considered an insult or not, so he went for silence instead.
He looked to his mother, tilting his head out of concern. He didn't like mares crying.
"It's ok Crown, Shosanna is just suffering from pregnancy hormones, she is fine... it's a good sign, means her babies are safe and well. You want that right?" When her son nodded she couldn't help but chuckle as she turned back to her friend, "I am sorry Shosanna, I should have thought first. You look glorious though. Pregnancy really suits you." She said with a genuine smile and honest heart.
Renesme really was pleased for her friend, she had got the impression the first time they had met that the other mare had craved children of her own. Still, she was worried. "Do you have a midwife?" She asked casually, she knew of plenty of mares who didn't need such a thing.... but then she remembered her own pregnancy and birth.... without Chandra Renesme would likely be dead now, as would at least one of her children. No, that was definatly not something she wanted to happen to her friend.

She nodded in agreement to the worried looking colt. "Your mother's right.. I've just been having hormones that make me have odd emotions at any given time." She smiled kindly shaking her head some and finally pulling herself together a bit more. "Thank you, Renesme, I really appreciate the compliments." She gave another smile.
When the tables had been turned and her friend had been the one with foal, she had indeed wanted foals of her own. Only factor she'd though of was that she'd also thought she'd have been a bit older before they ever came. Not to mention she'd always pictured her having a life mate of her very own when it happened. Still it was a happy accident no matter how it had happened. "A mid wife?" She shook her head as she thought some. "I could possibly find one though, I've another friend who's had foals before though I'm not sure how much help she'd actually be." she was rather clueless about such things but she figured some help had to be better than none.

Crown looked to his mother then back at Shosanna, before making a big 'O' with his mouth. He was still niave, and although she had tried to explain he didn't really understand. Instead he looked to her extended belly. "Does that mean there are babies in there?" He asked with a tilt of his head... was it rude to stare? He didn't know.
Then he heard the word midwife, he had heard that before. Midwife... Chandra! It switched on like a lightbulb. "Chandra's nice." he chirperd.
Renesme looked at the other mare with a gentle smile. "Everything will be ok, I promise your hormones will settle as you get closer to the end. Everything just.... clicks." She smiled, almost jealous that the other mare was pregnant. She had loved the feel.... the way her babies would kick her and remind her they were there, happy and safe. She beamed and looked over at Crown before nodding. "Yes Crown, Shosanna is pregnant, and that means she has little ones much smaller than you in her belly."
She laughed, the innocence of her children was so refreshing from the harhness of life. It was a beautiful thing that needed to be nurtured rather than destroyed. There was plenty of time to grow up later.
She turned to face her friend once more, "I am sure you will be ok. Mares have been doing this for thousands of years....." True. She was still proud and scared at the same time for her friend.
