--- ❀ Garden of Bears ❀ ---

Miss Felicity Wickes (X Purple--Platypus X) with her Caedos, Claudia & Miss Lulu Rogers (Bear-Garden) with her cloak putesco.
In Gadu, Imisus, in an industrial area; a beargarden is nearby.

A haze of smog was hanging in the street that Felicity was scurrying down; the produce of the squat iron roofed buildings that clustered together in this unpleasant section of the industrial city. The poor frail woman was clutching a thin off-white handkerchief to her mouth as she tottered along, desperate not to inhale the fumes for fear of breaking into a violent coughing fit. Already she had wheezed and hacked up what seemed to be half of her lung and her unsympathetic rose companion had simply complain about how much the coughs shook her place upon the human’s shoulder. The reason for her being in this grimy section of the town, away from the safety of her place of residence was nothing fancy... She was lost. One wrong turn followed by another had led to her becoming ensnared in the labyrinthine depths of this place and with startled sunken eyes she was looking for a way out.

However, rather than an exit from the area - a golden pathway of sorts, leading back to the safety of the wider cleaner roads - the only thing that popped out of the gloom was a short figure huddled up against a wall, a flat cap shading his eyes. Even out of context such a shady looking being would raise questions in the most trusting persons mind, but for the highly strung mousey woman the solitary being produced a sensation in her chest like a vice gradually crushing her feeble heart. Every rapping step of her hobnailed boot that took her closer to him was like a clap of thunder: terrifying. She wanted to stop, turn around a flee but the likelihood of him chasing after her like a hound after a hare was more scary than a simple stab to the back. Thus she powered onwards with barely more than a little whimper...

However, as she moved past him a little hand clasped her arm: not the gnarled and villainous hand of the thief Felicity imagined, but a child's hand! Eyes becoming buggy with surprise she snatched her arm away as though branded. He squeaked (seeming almost as fearful as she - his face wincing as though expecting a slap) and Felicity's face softened allowing a pre-pubescent voice to wobble out of the sad looking mouth of the grubby child.

"Please Miss... Please... Buy a ticket." He dug around in his pockets before producing a handful of thin strips of paper. "I need to sell them all or m'master will beat me.." Fat globules of water glimmered in his wide innocent eyes and like all street urchins, his poor state tugged perfectly upon her weak maternal heart strings. A few minutes later the woman had parted with a glimmer of coins and was being escorted by the gleeful youth to the 'beargarden' she had just paid a small entry fee to... She hadn't the foggiest what a beargarden was but she hoped that it was some sort of private exhibition of flowers - a naive thought that she clung to for a little while... Though judging by the rough crowd around the door, smoking tobacco stuffed rolls clutched in calloused fingers, she was horrified to find that possibility seemed unlikely.

"Where are you taking me?!" Hissed the flower...

"I... I d-don't reall kn-now? M-maybe after t-this is d-done we can g-get someone t-to lead us home...?" A waver of nerves cracked through the woman's voice and as she nudged past a heavily muscled man her pitch shot up to a squeaky soprano.

As Lulu, clad in bright red, stood outside this rather saturated and mysterious exterior, and as she stared at the sign that said "Gadu Garden", she couldn't help but ask herself, "What on Profugus brought me here?"

And randomly, she recalled. Oh right--one of the maids at the house suggested for her to leave the house. Though Lulu was highly suspicious, this maid had been at the house since even before Lulu and Alfred were engaged. And therefore, had seniority. Besides, she was always nice to her, and Lulu found her favorable compared to some of the other maids. After all, this maid actually listened to her requests.

Since moving to Gadu, Alfred had always insisted on her staying in the house, where it was safe and sound and away from potentially dangerous people. He only allowed for her to leave the house when he was there to escort her, and when he needed her to make appearances at work-related events. Oh, and of course, when it came to church. Other than that, Lulu always found herself stuck at home, sitting around and practicing her Panymese amongst other random womanly and wifely and homey activities. Sometimes, she didn't know why she kept up with it. Perhaps, for a while, it was her love for him. Upon Alfred's death, however, that all changed. For once, she could step out of the front door, instead of simply staring as people walked around. She found herself visiting his old factory at times, since technically, it belonged to her now. She realized that she didn't know everything about Alfred, even though they shared a few years together. And it didn't bother her at all.

It must have been strange to see someone like Lulu here at this shady place. From what Lulu could have seen, it was filled with low-class factory workers and others who came here as some sort of escape, or perhaps, a distraction from their tough lives. She was almost disgusted with a lot of the appearances of the crowd, and she clearly remembered why she didn't like visiting Alfred's factory. It was dirty, smelled horrendous, and simply not a place where a person like Lulu should be.

However, the idea of the beargarden enticed her. It seemed thrilling to watch enraged animals duke it out, and when she was approached two days ago by an old man on the street who was describing the wonderful experience of watching bear-baiting and other animal sports, she couldn't help but indulge herself. For once, she didn't need Alfred's permission to go somewhere. Finally, she was able to make her own decisions once again.

She was brought back to reality when she heard a couple of unfamiliar voices that also didn't seem to belong in such a crowd. Upon turning around, she noticed a strangely placed woman--who was accompanied by some...just as strange...little being upon her shoulder. The woman had walked inside, and prompted Lulu to follow. To be honest, Lulu wasn't sure why she was intrigued by them--maybe it's because of the strange little flower lady, maybe it was because she was practically one of the few other ladies around. But whatever it was, Lulu was curious about them, and found herself wanting to see them. She wasn't normally the type that approached others unless she knew there was an explicit gain for her, but she had a feeling about this one.

"Good evening." Lulu simply said as she gracefully took out her handkerchief and placed it on her seat. Finally, she sat down. "Are you here for the display of flowers or for the fight?" She managed a smile and almost wondered if the other lady would take her seriously.

After entering the grubby place Felicity and her ward quickly stiffened as their surroundings became more and intimidating. As far as she could see there wasn’t a face in the building that was female, and amongst the men nearly all have unclipped bristly beards – an uncouth feature both women disliked – and many had crooked noses... From fighting? The horrible thought caused the northerner to tremble and for once the delicate flower empathised with her Grimm; not through any human compassion but because she too was rather unsettled by the scene. What if some gruff creature snatched her away in hopes of selling her in a grim black market! The black skinned imp muttered a prayer to her glutton god and inched closer to the straining neck of her human... They should get out whilst they could... It seemed their youthful guide had vanished and it was only the rough movement of the crowds that was guiding them inwards, down a corridor to where the real ‘beargarden’ was situated.

Even if they wanted to they wouldn’t be able to turn round now. There was a brawny looking man on every side and the corridor was coming to an end – an open space was in front of them and a few moments later the almost claustrophobic corridor had given way to a domed space full to the rafters with rows upon rows of people set out in a ring. Perhaps it had once been a factory, converted to be this mini stadium... But Felicity wasn’t interested in the architecture and neither was Claudia, both were far more interested in getting as quickly as possible to a seat and making their way through this ordeal without becoming entangled with any of the usual patrons of this establishment.

What do they even do here?!” Fright dangerously mixed with the plague’s usual malice laced Claudia’s voice. “I d-don’t kn-now..” She peered at the centre of the ring looking for an answer to the rose’s question. There was a table with a brightly garbed man prancing around adjusting a few equally gaudy vases but that shed no real light on the show they were about to watch... Atleast the vases made her hopeful that this place had flowers involved somewhere – it was only the bear half and the unruly crowd that made her desperately nervous.

So wrapped up in trying to gauge the purpose of the building, Felicity barely heard the delicate voice greeting her against the clamour of drunken male voices. Claudia, on the side closest to the stranger, was more attentive however and cast a glowing observatory eye over the speaker. Surprisingly it wasn’t a gruff and filthy worker but instead the caedos was faced with a delicate female foreigner. “Oh,” the flower clicked her fingers in Felicity’s ears to bring the human’s attention to perhaps the only half-decent company in the smoky room, “hello. The flowers or fight? Hmm.” With a smirk she left Felicity to answer that one.

Th-the f-flowers...?” Despite being a response the fragile woman’s voice lifted into a high ended question belaying her complete lack of comprehension. What was she here for?!

Lulu smiled at the frail woman, but her eyes were transfixed on the plague that stood before her. She never really felt this way with something before. Lulu just had the random urge to pick the flower girl up and give her a few shakes, throw her around--just to see how the latter would react. It was strange even on Lulu's level. Perhaps it was just because this was the first time she saw one up close. Perhaps this was why she was so drawn into the duo. "I heard that their array of flowers are admirable. I'm sure we'll be in for a treat." It was true, though. Despite the nature of the arena, there was, in fact, a circus act as part of the opening. At least, that was what she was promised when she purchased a ticket some time ago. The gentleman who sold her the ticket was more interested in advertising the bears, though. He probably saw the glint in Lulu's eyes when he first brought it up and ran with it.

All around the trio, drunken men were swaggering around with their bottles of liquor--at least, to the best of their ability given their current state. Lulu gasped with disgust as a man dropped onto a seat near her. "'Ello ladies." He clicked his tongue and gave them a wink. As he saw their reactions, he simply gave them a nice hearty laugh and a huge smile before downing some more alcohol and...rolled away.

"Some men." Lulu simply said as she shook her head. She was more used to the dignified gentlemen that woo'd her from her past. Lulu wondered why she didn't buy a better seat--if one such even existed. And for a moment, she forgot she had company. "Oh! Silly me." It came out as "sirri", though. There were times here and there when she still slipped. "We have not introduce!" And not to mention, her grammar skills are still in the works. "My name is Lulu. It is a pleasure." She extended her hand out to shake with Felicity's. She observed the woman's face closely, trying to remember if they had met before. "Are you from around here? I don't recall ever seeing you around town." But then again, Lulu didn't remember a lot of people.

Suddenly, a man walked towards the middle of the stage. He cleared his throat, and Lulu wondered how he expected anyone to here him over the men. "Thank you for being patient! Tonight's show will begin shortly." Certainly, she was surprised to hear him herself. She watched as the man walked back and turned back to her new companions. "Well, then. Where were we? She offered a small smile.

Th-they are?” Felicity’s eyes moved downwards to the vases placed upon the table... Yes, she supposed that they could be used to display flowers, none were there right now but perhaps they would be brought out momentarily? It just seemed strange, she had always thought flowers would be much more interesting to women, she had certainly never thought that such a drunken crowd of men would pay money to sit and admire a display of colourful petals and finely shaped leaves. Never the less the woman sounded quite assured and the Sherygoedian took her word for it. The men of Imisius must be significantly different in their tastes to those of the north. It was entirely possible that Felicity had been hasty in judging them so poorly... Being overly nervous was a trait she knew only too well that she possessed.

However, the behaviour of the men was soon shot back into the stereotypical lecherous swine category when a clearly inebriated man leaned over her fellow female company and drooled a greeting. Felicity gasped and held a shocked hand to her mouth and nose. Such a reek! She had never liked the scent of beer but the stench that had originated from that man’s mouth was something else. The best description Felicity could put together was a crude mix of alcohol, cheese, sweat and vomit. Even Claudia who found the scent of death and rot satisfying sneered at his drunken expression and shuffled away from him for fear that the putrefying vapours literally caused her leaves to curl. Yet somehow the other woman, who introduced herself as Lulu, seemed to brush it off with ease... Felicity was in admiration of her coolness in such a vile place.

Claudia on the other hand was less admiring and more inquisitive. There was sharpness to the foreign woman that she identified with. Lulu was interesting at least. Laughing with a pretty little laugh Claudia took the role of introducer. “My human is called Felicity,” she stood and gracefully and extended a small black hand like a member of nobility allowing someone of equal standing to politely kiss her knuckles in greeting, despite the fact such an action was not possible. “I am Claudia, it’s a pleasure to meet you in such an uncouth place Lulu. Every cloud has a silver lining I suppose.

Before she could continue and state where exactly they were from the man in the performance area made his announcement and the attention of both humans was swept away from the plague to the brightly dressed and very zany looking individual who was strutting around the ring. Claudia tutted. He looked and acted like a fool! His strides were long and he seemed to dip up and down with his steps in a far too exaggerated fashion... But for some reason a good selection of the men in the crowd were already chortling at his peculiar antics. “What is he doing?” She sneered as he moved around his table full of vases and dipped a red gloved hand into one of them...

POOF! A flash of light and a cloud of smoke exploded as he yanked his hand out of the vase and the audience broke into raucous calls of admiration. In the previously empty vase was a bunch of flowers – sunflowers to be precise – smiling out at the crowd. Literally smiling. “Oh...” Claudia raised a brow. Was that it? Were they to be entertained simply by a few amateur magic tricks?

Lulu thought their names rung well. Felicity and Claudia--like two peas in a pod. She was, once again, interrupted. "What is he doing?" The three of them watched closely as he worked his way on the stage, and-- POOF! Lulu blinked. Claudia rose a brow. Felicity? Who knew. But from what Lulu imagined of the woman so far, she probably jumped. A smiling flower, while somewhat pleasant, wasn't really special. There needed to be more...pizazz. Sure she hadn't been sold for the flowers and the circus acts, but come on. Even the drunks weren't amused--nor did they really respond. They booed and threw whatever they had on them towards the middle of the stage, and the man had trouble dodging. "How utterly...bad.." Lulu rolled her eyes at the man's attempt to redeem himself. He had a small shuffle here and there, did some random hand movements and something something blah blah blah. Lulu could care less.

It wasn't until, finally there was something fresh, something a tad bit different. The man had ran back inside to grab something, and, of course, to avoid the random foods that were being thrown at him. He brought with him a big wagon of some sort, inside had huge flower bulbs--fake, of course, and Lulu hoped that there weren't just as fake flowers inside. He pulled out a pipe and played it, as some sort of pathetic music began to play (Lulu figured that the place wasn't really rich enough to afford an entire ensemble--and this wasn't really their main attraction anyway) and continued to pull along the wagon. Slowly, things got a bit more interesting. Not that the rowdy crowd really cared. They wanted the bears! But, nonetheless, it kept Lulu's attention--even if it was barely hanging on. Those who were drunk continued to be rowdy--and were booing the man even more, but Lulu almost....almost felt sympathy for him "He is trying, isn't he?" Lulu looked at Claudia and Felicity with doubt. "I do hope you two are enjoying the show. I've never been to one of these before, but so far, I'm not sure I'll be giving this a second try. I know I'm only here for the bears, but..the smells that some of these men are giving off is quite unwelcoming--and it's making me quite nauseous."

The man danced and played on his pipe, as if he was the Pied Piper and suddenly, one of the bulbs began to float! Upon further investigation, of course, there were strings attached to each bulb, but nonetheless! As he played, the bulbs began to swing, one by one, being slowly placed upon the stage. Lulu rose her brows with slight interest, wondering where this was going. Finally, after what seemed to be an eternity, they formed a circle, and the man piped his way towards the middle. When the song was drawing near an end, he finally let out one long note, making a signal to...the ladies inside to "blossom out." Lulu was...not sure how to take it. Sure, they looked pretty as the women danced around the stage, but...still...The drunk men began to roar with delight at the sight of the women, clad in flower costumes, and Lulu didn't want to know what was on their minds. Obviously the attraction to these circus acts were supposed to bring in the wild men, but Lulu still watched with intrigue. "They kind of remind me of you, Claudia..."

Suddenly, flowers poof'd into the arms of each flower lady, and they made their way towards the crowd. The chrysanthemum lady was the closest to the trio, and she approached them with a kind and relieved smile. Lulu wondered what it would have felt like to have approached one of the drunk men who presumably wanted to do more than just accept their flowers.

He is indeed trying... Trying my patience..” Claudia responded, a sneer on her face and a general air of aloof disinterest settling about her tiny frame. Lulu had just commented upon the rank odour of the pace and that amongst the other disgusting factors was leading the flower to want to leave as soon as possible. Did she care if her Grimm had paid money to be here? Of course not! She had been nervous outside in the gloom, not knowing where they were in the complex backstreets of the grimy city, but now they had a new acquaintance – a resident of this place. If all three of them were fed up with the poor standard of the show perhaps they could make their excuses and quit this place together? Lulu could lead them home, or at least to a place from which they could navigate the rest of the way safely.

Felicity was less condescending of the show and more inclined to shock. Her nerves were fragile at the best of times but as her caedos nattered away on her shoulder to Lulu her eyes were as wide as a startled rabbit’s and her mental state was just about as good as the shocked critter that she resembled. So much noise, so many pungent reeking scents! The bright show in front of her was almost mesmerising... As the woman next to her spoke she could only mutter a garbled, “n-nauseas.. y-yes.

The act stepping up a gear or so in pace reduced her input into the conversation to zero and the impish Claudia snarled in agitation. Brain dead! Her human was near enough to a base level of stupidity that she might as well be sitting upon a donkey for all the good that Felicity was doing. “I’m sorry about her-“ She began, but stopped and turned her attention to whatever had started to happen on stage that was attracting whoops of joy from the men and comparisons from Lulu. At first she was taken aback. Were these plagues employed by this circus act? Siblings born from flowers like her? However, she was sure that it that were the case she would have caught their scent. In her experience plagues often had such potent odours that they would have cut through even the stagnant reek of beer and urine. These were simply prettily dressed humans thus the comparison was derogatory above all else. They were nowhere near her level of perfection! Perhaps Lulu was correct in insinuation that they strove to be like her though? She almost liked her civilised companion and thus refrained from snapping at her.

Pretty mimicry.” She cocked a half smile at the approaching performer. “Take the flower Felicity, don’t just gawp. It’s not real magic.” Obediently her Grimm did so and gave the woman a bashful thank you before examining the colourful object...

W-would you lik-ke it?” She held it out to Lulu.. She had her own animated flower after all.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 30, 2010 1:06 am

Lulu took a brief glance at the flower. There was nothing special about it, and she didn't have a particular use for it--simply a hassle and a waste of space. However, Felicity did look sincere and Lulu suspected that if she refused the flower, the latter would burst into tears in disappoint, muttering to herself for being an utter failure. Exaggerated, of course, but nonetheless. "I'd be honored to. Thank you." Another faint smile as she slowly accepted the chrysanthemum by its stem. The longer she stared at it, the less appealing it was. She noticed a dead petal amongst the rest--the imperfection. Then she started to see the wrinkles here and there, and suddenly...it was hideous. Lulu wanted to throw it away, but placed it in her bag for now, where it would surely suffocate and die. It was on its way anyway.

Lulu wiped her hands on her handkerchief that she was sitting upon and looked up to see that the circus act was finally coming to a close. The flower ladies made their way to the center of the stage once more, as the man continued to pipe and dance, calling them in. The crowd was rowdier than ever, wanting to feel the touch of a woman as the people in the front rows did. Lulu inched closer to Felicity and Claudia, as the nowhere near gentleman thrashed about in his seat. Animals, the lot of them. She was even more disgusted by the wild behavior of these beasts when suddenly, the music stopped and the performers were bowing their way off stage. Lulu had missed the finale. "I hope I didn't miss anything...redeemable." She chuckled a bit before watching center stage again. They were clearing off the petals and the pedestals and the wagon that the man had left behind. "Well." Lulu paused for a bit, flattening her dress. "If the fights don't entertain me, then I doubt I'd come here ever again." She smiled at Felicity and Claudia as she ignored the man behind them vomiting to the side. "I must say, it is rather...funny to make an acquaintance in such a wild place." She leaned in closer to them for a second. "Do you believe in fate?"

Suddenly, there was a huge roar--both coming from backstage and from the audience. It didn't take much for the women to realize. The main event was here. Lulu watched with amusement as five men struggled to keep the black bear in...somewhat control. They finally got it to go into one of the cages that were set up. Five other men had to drag the brown bear to the other end of the stage. "This is getting interesting." She crossed her legs together before resting one arm on her knee and watched with bemusement.

A man walked back to center stage. "The moment you've been waiting for!" He yelled out, taking a hard glance towards the audience. "The bear fight shall begin." He hurried back to safety before the doors of the two cages were released. Huge roars reverberated throughout the room as the men around Lulu, Felicity and Claudia seemed to get wilder and wilder by the second. Lulu's eyes gleamed with delight at the sight of the bears attempting to maul each other to death, as they scratched and bit each other around the battlefield. At the sight of the blood and violence, she forgot that there were others around her. To put it simply, Lulu was mesmerized.

The first thing Claudia thought when she spied the first bear was how simply brutish and ugly it was. Black fur matted into a repugnant carpet no doubt riddled with fleas and other such nastiness. If it weren’t for the acrid scent of vomit hanging in the air around them – generously being produced by a nearby man – the flower was certain that the beast’s wretched stink would be making her gag. However, as she continued to keep her blazing gaze upon the brute her opinion changed somewhat. Not enough to make the animal seem appealing, but certainly diminished her outright disgust. It took five men to restrain him... A tether around each limb and one more keeping the slavering jaws shut and even then every lumbering movement made the men heave as they used every fibre of their being to counter its immense strength. This was a being that could fell a human with a simple swipe of its paw... Currently it was starved, mangy and shackled... In its prime it would be a black force to be reckoned with – Claudia could respect that. In fact, the human’s petty attempt at control irked her, she half wished a chain would break and human blood would be spilt... She would pay good money to see that.

However, there were no slip ups and as the other bear was secured into the waiting pens she felt a new rush of exhilaration. They were so close! The lumbering forms of the animals were so near and when the gates were raised and their tensed muscles sprang into action she would have such a view! Barely wanting to miss the start she only gave her company a quick glance. Lulu seemed just as enamoured with the scene whereas Felicity... Well.... She was not even looking properly. Her hands were clutching at her face and only a slither of a gap was allowed to give her a nervous view; which would be surely cut off the moment blood was spilt and she winced away. Disgusted at her human’s weakness Claudia looked back at the bears... The fight was about to start!

Blood was shed.

Bright splashes of red flew through the air, mixed with chunks of matted fur.

Pure brilliant violence thrummed in the air of the bear garden and as the crowd roared as loudly as the duelling bears Claudia found her own voice adding to the cacophony. What she was saying she didn’t know... Perhaps she was egging on one of the bears, perhaps it was a chant of “blood, blood, blood” like many of the men had taken up, perhaps it was just a sheer squeal of her enjoyment. The flower didn’t care! It was just so amazing. One moment the black bear seemed to be winning – pinning the other beneath its weight – the next the brown had slammed its bulk into the black, scraping the high boards protecting the audience. They were a good match for each other!

Felicity was witness to none of this... She had fainted with shock. Not that Claudia cared. So long as the woman’s body stayed relatively upright in her seat she would be fine, and even if she did slip downwards she would scramble onto Lulu’s shoulder – at least until the fight came to an end. It was simply too good to miss a moment of gory action.

She stared at the scene before her.

She continued. Almost immobile, Lulu's doubts and regret instantly turned into dirty joy.

As the voices grew, Lulu inched closer and closer to the edge of her seat, fascinated at the sight. When the brown bear raised his paw to slash the other, Lulu's lip crawled upward. As soon as the paw met the cheek and anguish cries were released, Lulu's eyes widened with anticipation. Slowly but surely, the shouts and cheers began to dissolve to the point where she only heard the thuds and the scratches as the bears brutally tackled each other.

Indeed, the bears before her were annihilating each other, encouraged by their berserk mindset. She was still fascinated at how easy it was to aggravate them. Anger and frustration flowed in their veins and were immediately released in ways Lulu couldn't have imagined herself. She had a flash in her mind--imagining the brown bear climbing over the "protective" board and attacking the humans. She imagined herself grotesquely watching as the bear mutilated one of the drunk men--at the blood that would splatter across her dress and her face. How she'd simply raise one finger and calmly wipe it off. How she'd almost be tempted to taste it with some sick enjoyment. How she'd be yearning for more.

Extra weight on her right shoulder brought her out of her daze. She took a glance to her right to notice a dead Felicity at her side.

Oh, scratch that. She was still breathing. Lulu rose a brow and was almost tempted to take out her handkerchief and place it where Felicity was resting, but resisted, as she remembered she was sitting on it due to the locale's...cleanliness. Lulu briefly met eyes with Claudia, who soon turned away to continue watching the fight. Well. It should be okay.

Shouts from either side of her supported both bears. It wasn't about winning here. That was the last thing on their minds. At least, if they didn't bet, that is. The stage was layered with blood as the opponents circled it, growling at each other. Seconds later, they were at each others throats again. Men around her started to throw their drinks around, and soon, brawls were fought in the audience. The attention was divided between the mob fight and the bear fight, yet no one seemed to really care. The bear fight was slowly coming a bore, as the animals were becoming exhausted--and it was still a tie in terms of rounds.

"I believe it is time to relocate." Lulu stated as she blankly stared at the men exchanging fists. She looked back down to the unconscious Felicity. "If she doesn't wake up soon, we'll have trouble from the pigs." She tried shaking her a little, but Felicity was out cold.

And speak of the devil himself, lo and behold, a drunkard (possibly the same as the one from earlier that night) had approached them. "Ya in need in some helpin there, lil missy?" He wiggled his brows and Lulu wanted to barf when she took a niiiice long whiff of his breath. "We'll manage." She gave him a disgusted look and hoped he'd walk away.

The violence spreading throughout the arena was thrilling. Just like the animals in the centre men were clambering over seats to punch each other – from somewhere nearby the crack of a nose being snapped under a fist gave Claudia a chill delight. Neighbours were tearing at each other’s flesh; teeth were bared in gruesome grins of pained ferocity; care and consideration were abandoned in favour of sheer aggression. As she looked on, clapping when an especially good move was played (one pair of duelling heathens had even fallen into the bear pit), Claudia was no longer sure who the beasts were and who were the supposedly civilised and higher beings. Humans were no better than the animals they taunted... Well... For the most part. Lulu didn’t seem all that bad. Something about her eyes – mean and focused, drinking up the gore – shone with the same light as Claudia’s and she supposed if she wasn’t a human they might have a chance at being friends.

However, it was getting to the point where they were in danger and Lulu was right in saying that they should leave was the honest truth. However, Felicity’s pathetic lack of movement was a problem. Claudia was obviously too small to do anything. Lulu was a lady and far too slender to carry the weight of the northerner – even if she was no more than skin and bones. The attempted offer of help was perhaps the only valid way they could get Felicity out of her crumpled position without rousing her... But the drunken man was not to be trusted. The flower didn’t care about Felicity’s welfare that much, but leaving her in the hands of a filthy drunk was a step too far for even the rose.

It was after slapping her Grimm’s cheeks a few times that a wave of remembrance washed over the caedos.

Smelling salts!

She turned to Lulu and gave a very knowing and proud smile. “Felicity may have some smelling salts about her person... She is prone to faints when shocked.” The flower scurried about on top of the woman, tugging at a piece of fabric here and a pocket flap there, rifling through the lady’s feeble possessions in hope that the strongly scented material... By the time that she had found them the fight had well and truely engulfed the seats around them and the helpful drunk was brawling with another two men – his top off in a display of his masculinity – yet he was still glancing back at them with an oafish grin. Wryly Claudia suggested; “I think he likes you Lulu... What a catch.” Before holding out the rousing materials - which were contained in a basic metal container, much like a cigarette case.

Would you do the honours? I don’t believe I can drag these all the way back up to her face and administer them without choking to death on the fumes...

Occasionally, she'd find the swine from before wiggling his brows at her, but Lulu'd give him a blank stare before turning back to the bears and the men who fell in. She secretly wanted them to get mauled as well.

"That's gross to suggest, Claudia." She playfully chided. She tapped her fingers and folded her hands when Claudia finally found what she was looking for and handed it to her. "I hope she doesn't need these as often as I'm assuming she does..." She cocked a brow but gracefully accepted the request. She hesitantly pulled out one of them and raised it to her acquaintance's nose. Lulu noticed the latter beginning to come back to the living, but was still in a daze. "I can't begin to fathom what sorts of things make her faint." She arched a brow before shaking Felicity again. "C'mon, dear, before all hell breaks loose..." She muttered to herself. The effects of the smelling salt was making her a bit nauseous. Lulu was surprised Felicity's unconsciousness--as if she was in a deep spell of some sort.

After a few minutes of absolutely nothing, Lulu was beginning to get frustrated with Felicity. Lulu almost wanted to stick the stick up her nose or shove it down her throat so the latter can finally flutter those eyes open and they can get out of the dingy place. Lulu refrained, however, from behaving in such manners, as this was an acquaintance that was favorable. If Felicity were any other woman--at least, if she didn't have Claudia, Lulu full-heartedly believed that she wouldn't be as interested.

"Does this happen often?" Lulu finally decided to ask as she began to speed up wavering the smelling salt left and right, hoping that Felicity would breathe it in and wake up. One whip to the right, and Felicity's unconscious form twitched a tad. One whip to the left, Lulu saw that her brows slightly furrowed and her lips parted slightly as a light moan escaped. Finally.

For the grand slam, Lulu gave Felicity a couple of slaps before she stood up from her seat and collected her handkerchief. "Time to go, chop chop." She took a wary look behind her as the idiot from before giggled and began to sashay his way over, tripping over his feet. Not wanting to deal with him (nor any drunk man again tonight), she quickly grabbed Felicity's arm, made sure that Claudia was with them and began to make their escape.

Lulu ducked under thrown mugs and chair legs as she tried to lead the trio to safety. She didn't look at how Felicity was doing, nor even Claudia. The crowds were participating in mob brawls and quite frankly she was only concerned with her own safety--all the while thinking about how, indeed, similar these men were to the bears just barely an hour ago. Twisting and turning, pushing and pulling, Lulu finally saw the main entrance and where she stood just hours before, wondering what the show would be like.

Finally, they squeeze through and the fresh winter breeze of Gadu slaps them silly. Lulu looks over to Felicity and Claudia after fixing her hair and wiping a brow. "All in one piece."

The pungent yet somewhat familiar scent that crisped her nose scythed through Felicity’s unconsciousness like a hot knife through butter. Every waft that Lulu directed towards her nose caused the safety of her dark, fright induced sleep to blister with light and sound. She was being hauled out of her safety zone and this was perhaps why she twitched and occasionally moaned in an attempt to get away. However, like a sleeper roused too early trying to squirm back into that blissful deep state of unconsciousness was impossible for Felicity. Behind her eyelids she could see shapes moving, lights flickering as people danced around her... Her ears were not safe from the drunken groans and the cacophony. Most shockingly she was not safe from Lulu’s assault on her cheeks and no pain was spared as the little woman’s palm struck a good few times. Felicity was sure that it was well intended... But still... She bit her tongue and held back shocked tears as her hand was grabbed and she was hauled out of her collapsed state and rushed towards the exit.

I’m s-so sorry!” She whimpered as she felt Claudia scurry up her back and into a fold of her dress where she could nestle safely until they had fled the bear garden. “I’m n-not used t-to su-such sights!” Recalling the sight of the artetial blood on the creature's chops, even after her break from awareness, made her quiver when coupled with the animalistic roar of the crowd. It was peculiar... She could watch a sacrifice to her god – though she could not take part – but seeing those bears ripping into each other had been too much. Too much violence with not enough meaning...

Savagery incarnate.

Lulu would understand, right? Claudia on the other hand was wholly unsympathetic and before another stuttered apology could tumble from her lips a savage n** to the soft flesh at her side made her shut her mouth.

Poking her head from a pocket, evidently it had a hole in it which allowed the flower to push her way around the inside of Felicity’s clothing and have access to the surface at the same time, Claudia hissed at Felicity to move. The doorway from which they had just exited was bulging with people as hundreds of men tried to exit the building. Some were blatantly fleeing just like the two women whilst others were still visciously scrapping. Needless to say the sheer volume of human bodies attempting to traverse such a small doorway had resulted in quite a bottle neck that Felicity and Lulu had been lucky to avoid... But any moment now the uncouth mass would break out into the street in full force and the flower didn’t quite fancy getting caught up in that... Watching from a distance was one thing – but being involved directly was quite different.

I think perhaps we should say our farewells... It’s been a pleasure meeting you Lulu.” The flower was civil for once. Felicity mimicked her caedos’ farewell but added a hasty – “Which w-way t-to the town cent-tre?!

Lulu took a look at the crowd once again as Claudia spoke. She too noticed the brawl beginning to swarm the streets. Lulu took a slight second to ponder whether there would be any type of reinforcement to civilize these men, but the thought faded as quickly as it came. The beasts were a lost cause. She found it funny how merely half a day ago, these men were working in the factories, or the streets, making end's meet--trying to become the most civilized people to be accepted in society. These so-called gentlemen were Imisus's fine working class who wanted to find escape, even if it was for a late night. She figured they would be here at tomorrow's performance, as that really was all it was. A performance between a group of males to see who can come out to be the last one standing before the sun rose up for a new day. A new day would mean a new opportunity for them to prove their manlihood. Men. Lulu shook her head. She doubt she would ever understand their way of thinking, and to be quite frank, she didn't care.

She faced the duo once again as Felicity quickly wanted to leave. "Oh, yes. Turn left here...then walk straight a few neighborhoods...You'll notice..." And after reconfirming that both Felicity and Claudia knew where they were going, she bid them a farewell. "Yes, it has been quite a pleasure!" She never thought she'd catch herself saying that to someone that didn't potentially have money for her disposal or of some specific use. She watched as Felicity scattered off into the distance, and smirked a little as she saw Claudia waved her little petal hands around. She could only imagine the dialog the two were exchanging and shook her head.

They intrigue me. With a nod, that seemed just fine--acceptable. As if the nod signified that it was true and matter-of-fact. She began to retreat as well, as all-out brawls made their way towards her. She didn't want to get caught in that mob again. She clipped her cloak on and made her way towards the general direction of her home. Her mind wandered to potential events that would occur in the near future--to Miss Potts and more Panymese lessons or perchance she'd come across Felicity Wilkes and Claudia once more.

Just as Lulu turned the corner, she took a quick glance behind her. She thought she heard someone yell out in fright, and if her ears were still functioning correctly--a slight growl. Perhaps it was a--
