Rain looked down at her note. She had written down Coralie's dorm information but her handwriting was always a challenge to read. When she was fairly certain she found the right room, she knocked quietly on the door.
She was nervous. She had never been a mom before, or a dad. She was unsure which role was hers. Did it even matter? The baby was a pumpkin creature. When she heard everyone say babies came from pumpkin patches, she never actually believed it. Didn't she come from a graveyard? That was her first memory at least, digging her way out of the cold ground. That, and being hungry as hell. She was certain her mom had told her that babies come from graveyards, not pumpkin patches.
Not to mention that the baby looked nothing her. Didn't babies usually favor one or both of the parents? Well, it was orange like Coralie's hair so that was something. She was so confused but she was a momdadthing now. She had to face responsibility and she couldn't be picky. It wasn't the baby's fault that it came out looking like a pumpkin. She would love it anyway, maybe even more. Both of them would as she was sure Coralie was a friendly person.
She waited quietly for her partner to answer the door. Hopefully, she wouldn't be upset at her sudden visit but she wanted to check and see how their baby was doing.

Every since the whole...baby thing she'd had a lot more free time. That sounded odd, but everyone else also had a baby so everyone was busy. Granted, it hadn't been that long since the class, so it wasn't like she was feeling bored or anything just yet. She had just been reading a little bit of nothing on her bed, Wilfred seeming to doze off on her head. Her and Rain's "baby" was on a pillow on the floor, where Luka had decided was his spot to nap so the little black cat was curled around the pumpkin. It seemed fine enough there, though honestly Coralie had no idea what wouldn't be fine for a vegetable, apart from dropping or eating it.
Hearing the knock she turned her head. Huh that must have been...Rain. She doubted anyone else would come visiting right now. So she slipped off the bed feet first and went to the door. After opening it she gave the other girl a casual smile, "Hey there Rain. Come to see the baby, I take it?" She couldn't think of another reason she'd be there, just because they weren't terribly familiar with one another at this point.

Rain bobbed her head up and down in an enthusiastic nod. "How is the baby doing," she asked as she entered Coralie's room. She had to pause for a moment to look around. It seemed that every dorm room she so was so vastly different than the one before, reflecting the habits and lifestyle of the person within. It was always so interesting.
It was impossible to miss the baby on the floor. How cute it was! "Coralie, we should give him or her a name, don't you think? But.. I don't know if it is a him or a her, do you?" Rain thought it was incredibly endearing to see the cat curl up against the baby.
She dropped down to her knees and touched the pumpkin as softly as she could. "How are you feeling, little baby," she asked it though she was unsure if it could even understand her. It was so strange, staring down at the little creature pumpkin thing and knowing it was their baby. She couldn't help but feel a bit of pride though deep down, she knew it was just a project, a part of her wanted to believe it was real.

"Seems to be doing fine," Coralie replied barely resisting a shrug as she shut the door. After all, how un-fine could the pumpkin really be? At least when it was sitting there like that. She went to go stand next to her partner, though she stayed standing for the moment. It wasn't as if the pumpkin could hear her or notice that she wasn't crouching, after all. Though if they were going to stay for a while they probably should move to sit on the bed, where they'd be more comfortable.
"I'm not sure," she replied in regards to gender. If she was certain it was a normal pumpkin she'd say it was both or none, as it was a plant, though just the part hat held the seeds. It wouldn't surprise her, though, if some creature popped out of the thing at some point and if that thing had a gender well...while it might be hilarious to misname the creature's gender, it probably wouldn't say much about their parenting skills. "We could always name it something pretty neutral, like Nicki or Jamie or Jess."

Nicki, Jamie or Jess were so.. weird but Rain didn't want to complain. She wasn't sure her idea of names were right for the baby either. Necrotic, Marrow, or Zombaby would probably be as horrible names to Coralie as the ones she had offered were to her. It didn't help that the names her partner suggested sounded human. Then again, her partner.. looked human. Reapers were so appealing. So.. delicious looking.
Until now, Rain had been really good about staying away from the Reapers, or keeping to groups so that she was always distracted. She had never actually been alone with one. Their blood, their bodies, their brains were enticing because of their human-like appearance. It was impossible not to react to it sometimes. Even now, she could feel hunger pains starting to form and feel traces of the yearning to feed that she tried to keep buried in her head. It was begging, pleading, urging her to pounce. To bite. To feed.
Of course, to do so would mean expulsion and would give the zombies a bad reputation. She couldn't have that. She wouldn't have that! Coralie was just like Emily. Emily was her friend. She would never hurt Emily. Coralie was just like Emily. Just like Emily, just like Emily. Just. Like. Emily.
Repeating it seemed to do the trick and hunger faded. She could do this. She had no choice. She would not lose control. "Nicki is a fine name," she stated, trying to concentrate on the baby, though she was careful to not look directly at Coralie.
"Do you want to play, Nicki?" It was a silly thing to ask but it looked as if the pumpkin had moved. Wiggled? Was she seeing things? She dropped to her knees and peered more closely at it and it wiggled again!
"I think it took its first step, Coralie!!!!!!"

Coralie had honestly never been around undead very much. But then she could say that for ghosts and such too, because she had lived in a very dense population of reapers. Not to mention her massive amount of siblings. It was here at school she was getting a better feel for the difference races and she wasn't particularly minding the differences. Her best friend was a monster, actually. So far Rain wasn't giving her a bad impression of what the undead were like...except if all of them were this chipper she might have to watch herself.
"Really?" she asked, not expecting Rain to go for anything she had offered. Honestly she had just listed off a few ideas to appease the other ghoul, not seeing them as serious suggestions. She shrugged it off, though. If Rain liked Nicki, then Nicki it was.
She quirked a brow when the pumpkin moved. Or at least when Rain said it moved. She hadn't seen it herself, but she hadn't really been paying attention either. So maybe it had moved. Who knew. "More like it's first roll. At least it's not up someplace high." Somehow she didn't think they would get a good grade if it rolled off the table and turned into pumpkin mush.

Their baby took their first roll. It was really sweet and the distraction worked wonders. As far as babies went, she was sure they had got the best one of the bunch. She couldn't wait until it was her shift with the baby. Nicki was such a good little pumpkin thing.
"It's not often that Reapers and Undead are together, as well, my kind wants to eat yours usually," she was always an honest sort, sometimes naively so, "But I'm glad you're my partner. The baby seems to take to you too. It really seems happy." It was an odd conversation to have but as she stared down at their baby, it did seem happy. She was sure it was a happy baby.
If Coralie and Emily were both reapers that she could be around and possibly even like, then surely she could overcome her need to want to constantly take a bite out of them.

Coralie lifted a brow. So Rain was admitting, in a way, that she wanted to eat her hu? That was interesting. She supposed she should have been unnerved by it, but hey, the ghoul hadn't done anything and certainly didn't seem like she would. It meant everything was cool in her book, nothing to get worked up about. "Really? Well, sorry if I smell good or something. It's totally not on purpose. I'm a tease, but that's a bit much even for me," she said it lightly, the tilt of her smile suggesting a joke.
She sat back on her bed, watching Rain with the 'baby' with interest. After a moment she said, "I'm glad you're my partner too. I'm terrible at telling what our baby is feeling, so I guess that's your department," she almost said it as if it were true, as if Rain could actually know what the baby was feeling. Or rather, that the baby could feel at all. But maybe, just maybe, the little bit of skepticism was just a lingering effect.
"Do you want to take the baby after this? It's spent a bit of time with me already," she asked.
