Morrigan was at her wits end. She was jumping the maggot and she didn't give a crap one way or another. She had taken the baby to her room after class and in the middle of a peaceful sleep, it started crying. And not just crying, mind you, but tears streaming, water pooling up on the floor crying. She had tried everything she could think of to get it to shut the hell up but it persisted in screaming bloody murder. She had danced in front of it, made Mimic dance, had made funny faces and sounds but no matter what she did, the baby cried all the harder. She had to fight the urge to pull back her fist and just beat the damn thing good. Morality won over, or perhaps it was the fear of Cricket's wrath. Regardless, she dropped her hand and began to cry herself.

Grabbing a small blanket she had stolen from somewhere, she bundled up the screaming pumpkin creature. She marched over to the dorm that the monsters stayed in. However, upon arriving she realized that she did not know which room her partner lived in.

"ISRAFEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL," she called at the top of her lungs, causing the baby to cry even harder. "GET YOUR a** OUT HERE!"

Any other time, she'd be aware of how badly she looked. She was wearing her black pajamas which were several sizes too big for her and her pink hair was kept back in a ponytail but it seemed a third of it had already fallen loose at the sides. She was a disheveled mess. Her cheeks were still wet from the tears she had released during her brief walk here. She was unsure of the time, just knew it was very late in the night and she was tired. So damn tired.

"Please be a good baby," she whispered, instinctively bouncing the baby on her hip. "I'll find your daddy." She wasn't sure if she was reassuring the baby or herself. The situation felt hopeless. There were simply too many rooms.

"Israfel?" She called again loudly, though there was no anger present this time.

Morrigan had to be one of the most respectable ghouls in the school, the siren decided. She had been easy to talk to and they had come very easily to an agreement on who would take care of their 'baby' when and how. The first night in she would take it, then him, and pretty much they would just alternate who got to take care of the pumpkin. They did agree however that at some point they needed to dress it up and make it look fabulous. Really. It would the best dressed pumpkin ever.

Dreaming of said fabulous pumpkin child, the Siren had no idea of his partner's distress. He thought she must have been doing darn well. So as he heard her voice crack out and scare him away, the Siren stumbled his way out of his room, tripping on the rocks of his floor. "Huh wha?" Peeping out of his dorm room, he realized with slow dread the ghoul who screamed his name was indeed his partner. And in her arms was their pumpkin.
It was crying.
"What did you do to our baby?" He stopped then looked at her. "And jack, what happened to you?"

"WHAT DID I DO?" She was angry again and it caused the baby to scream even louder. Frantic, she bounced it on her hip and tried to cajole it which seemed to actually do a little good. Lowering her voice, she hissed between clenched teeth, "I didn't do anything. It just started crying and crying and crying and crying and crying and crying," she paused momentarily before catching her breath, "and it won't stop. I thought maybe you could help?" She refused to address his second question. To do so would be to acknowledge how horrible she looked and she was under too much stress to lose what little bit of control she had left.

"Look, can we go to your room? The last thing we need is to wake up a dorm full of monsters. Some have really bad tempers. As tired as I am, we really don't need one of them harming the baby, even unintentionally." She didn't want to fail the class and a part of her, a really SMALL part of her was feeling bad for the baby. Something was wrong with it but she had no idea what!

"Daddy is gonna play with you soon, I promise," she whispered as she patted the side of the blanket, before fixing Israfel with a DON'T YOU DARE REFUSE stare. She was a demon. She was a female demon. She was a female demon in a very bad mood.

Oh god it was the look. The look any female could make and anyone with half a brain, (or even non in some of Halloween Town could attest to), and they would know they were going to suffer if the female was not attened too. Israfel got this look a lot back home, but seeing it on Morrigan's face? Oh no, he wasn't going to even try and attempt to skitter around this issue. "In my room them." Sure, him taking a girl into his room could be seen as bad, but really. It was Morrigan, she had a crying pumpkin on her hands, could anyone blame the siren for shuffling her in the door when she prompted? The case she made about how some monsters didn't like to be woken was also true. Some were..less understanding then others.
The lights flicked on, torches on the wall, free standing ones lined along in the water and scattered on the small island like set up The Siren had. Hopping the stone from door to the island, the nest of soft feathers and fur was tucked away under the tree. A tiny humming bird sprites came down to follow her master, obviously twittering her worry.

"Sit down, maybe we can just-" The pumpkin screamed. Literally screamed. "Okay okay let me hold it, maybe it'll calm down then! God, you think I should sing to it?" Singing always put him to sleep. At least when it was his mom singing. It couldn't be that hard to just sing a lullaby, could it?

His room.. wasn't even a room. It was.. what the hell was this? There was water everywhere and an island? It was a jackdamned beach resort! If she had a room like this, she'd never leave it. Clutching the baby tightly, she jumped as well. Her wings were worthless for actual flight but she was able to flutter and that came in handy as she landed on the little island.

She almost felt ashamed for getting mad. It wasn't his fault the baby was upset. Surely she had done something wrong. It was in her care but she was pretty good, right? She might have thought of a dozen ways to shut the baby up but she didn't do them. She didn't hurt it. She was doing better than even she thought she would!

"That might help actually. My mom used to sing to me. I.. just can't carry a tune at all," she admitted, almost blushing. She placed the baby in the nest so that it was nestled on the soft furs and feathers there. It certainly looked like a comfortable place to sleep. She yawned reflexively and sat down at the outside of the nest, resting her head against it. She would just close her eyes for a second. She wouldn't fall asleep.

Just needed..

..to rest..

her...

Pushing a good amount of the soft material around the pumpkin Israfel didn't think it needed to be watered or changed. It didn't need food. The sire sighed and ran his hand down it, attempting to sooth it. "I think-" She had fallen asleep. The pumpkin was calming down now, screaming less and less until it was just a slow hiccuping whimper. Soothing their pumpkin, Israfel hummed a gentle melody, letting a soft note or two escape his mouth. It wasn't really singing. He didn't want to try and ruin it. But oddly, his tiny tune made the pumpkin sigh in contentment, wiggling oddly into its miniature nest within a nest. Order restored, Israfel looked at his partner. She was a wreck, and the poor ghoul and obviously worn herself to the brittle bones.

As silent as he could be, Israfel pulled over a spare fur blanket he had shoved into a corner of his nest, laying it over Morrigan. It was black even, a perfect match to her natural accents! Happy to at least know both his pumpkin and his partner were now both going to be fine, Israfel smiled as his hummingbird sprite sat on the 'baby' already fond of the little thing. Curling into the ring of the nest, Israfel kept the pumpkin between him and Morrigan. They would get a good grade no doubt. Just look at their pumpkin! All sleeping, (it...was sleeping right?). Speaking of sleep, he was a bit tired himself. Snuggling into his nest, Israfel hummed the melody of his childhood. He couldn't wait for tomorrow to begin. He almost felt a tad excited to try and raise a pumpkin.

It would be a good thing he slept well in the end, and eventually, the siren would find pumpkins were not as easy as he liked to think.
