When Erik had received the notice, it had been around the equivalent of six in the morning. Apparently, a letter had come for him, addressed to him, from a place that did not have a designation one might use to return an erroneous delivery. A letter that appeared to have been written in a typed format, printed on a piece of crisp, clean parchment. A rather odd way to send a letter to be sure, and most of this information had been told to him through his brother and father Dragon Arrikanez - seeing as he himself was blind to all but the feel of the parchment.
It did not take long to utter the spell to transform the flat text into a raised format that his fingers might read. Of course, he could have piggybacked on someone else's sight, but that was neither prudent that early into the morning, nor entirely polite. Thus, he read the letter with his fingertips, used to tracing such symbols in order to gather their meaning.
The language of the document appeared to be English, the tongue of Earth and its related planets. A tongue that was vastly understated and vastly over-analyzed by those who were in the habit of doing such things. Entire libraries had been written on the complexities and impossibilities of the human language, and it was one that Erik had made it a priority to study in depth. With this taken into account, it was neither unprecedented nor unrealistic for the psychic to be able to understand and comprehend the presented information.
"Quite a polite invitation, I would say." Erik quietly uttered while reading the parchment. "But I am not entirely sure what constitutes a life-changing event. However, considering my recent state of veritable depression... this might just be worth a look."
Upon this statement, he had contacted the family's good friend in the transportation business to give him an old and disused matter transport device. He then handed this device over to Kiri, another family friend. The cheerful and helpful elf was only too happy to rearrange the varied gears and springs into something that would be able to function to transport him to where the letter had said it would be wise to arrive.
Before too long, he was stepping out of an abandoned subway station - judging from what Kiri had told him - nearby to the location he had been advised to wait. A building that was not dissimilar to the larger structures in the city he was used to, apparently, as he could feel the air around him and how it circumvented the obstruction in its way. The wind was slight, but his enhanced senses could very easily detect where exactly the breeze was coming from.
More to the point, he was now standing before the doors of the location he had been directed to... or at least he assumed as much. As he was still blind, he had no recourse to see at all - not even the magic to allow him to hijack the vision of other people. Thus, it was rather a graceless entry onto a new world as he proceeded to trip over the first step up toward the building that was in front of him and sprawl on the ground in such a manner as to be utterly silly. And to embarrass himself thoroughly. What was worse, was that while his hearing was perfectly acute as well as the rest of his senses, he could not comprehend anything at all that was being spoken.
That was not all that uncommon, however, having being transported to a new world on which he had never set foot. English was a language he could understand in written form, by studying the raised letters... but understanding the spoken word was nigh-on impossible at this current moment. As, apparently, was walking without tripping.

What he was met with was a pair of brown-green eyes. The fact that he was able to see them at all would probably be a hell of a shock, but the fact that someone had curiously pressed themself nose to nose with him would also probably be surprising. The person's eyes almost seemed to contain knowledge of universes past and present, but clouded and strange. This was mostly because he wasn't actually LOOKING into the person's eyes as much as their mind, the combination of powers and people meshing strangely.
"Oh, I apologize." the words were in a broken form of Athrocen, as if spoken by someone who spent a good deal of time moving between that and basic human English. The voice was rough around the edges, but soft and generally unsure. "Are you here for a meeting?"

"Indeed..." he said quietly, rising unceremoniously with his hand searching the wall beside him to attempt to clutch at the unforgiving wall for some sort of purchase. Once he had risen to his feet and regained a semblance of his footing on the unfamiliar flooring, he turned to the person he could feel there, and reached out to grip whatever part of their anatomy that was currently in his reach. This part of the body happened to be a rather solid shoulder that provided enough leverage for Erik to not feel as though he were going to topple over into oblivion at any moment.
The fact that he could see the eyes within his mind made a great deal more sense of this entire situation, allowing him to calm himself to such an extent as he could gather his thoughts to some semblance of order.
"I find myself in quite a dilemma." he explained, attempting to feel out the area around him in a most ridiculous fashion. "I am blind, and cannot see around me to understand this world. I sense you are not a Yaoen, and your dialect is broken and distorted. This leads me to believe that you are most likely a human or some facsimile thereof that might be able - with the willingness assumed - to lead me to where I need to be?"
He yawned very quietly, covering his mouth as well as he could with one hand. He found himself extremely exhausted from the short travel through the matter converter. It was difficult to believe that he would have no side-effects from such a journey. It was as though setting foot on this world was something he could not possibly foresee the consequences of. Therefore, he was bound to be somewhat in a state of confusion as to what, exactly was expected of him.

The person seemed to be having a very hard time understanding what he meant, cocking a head to the side to look at him funny, something soft and fluffy brushing the hand on his shoulder. Whether or not it was hair or an ear though wasn't too obvious. Maybe it was both.
"Not Yaoen." the person agreed slowly with a nod that brushed against Erik's hand again, "Not human either."
"You...are lost, yes?" his voice was still broken, as if he was having severe difficulties with the language. Or maybe it was speaking in general he was having a hard time with. "My sister. She will help."

He was exceedingly tired, and ever the more confused. Regardless of this, the offer of help was well appreciated. Perhaps, even, he might have been a little on the peckish side as well. Some food might indeed be a good idea... and perhaps this individual's sister might provide some comfort of that kind. It was also highly possible that he might be suffering some form of energy drain due to the vast amount of distance he had traveled in a very short period of time.
Without speaking again, as his throat was rather raw just now, he gave assent to the offer of aid. Some food might very well be waiting for him, and he had, after all, gotten the letter from himself, telling him to meet someone here for a life-changing event. Perhaps this was so, but there was a very real possibility of going into shock from using the initial device he had walked into to get here. Shock, of course, was something he would like to avoid at all possible cost.

Had Erik known anything of this young man's sister, he'd have known how unlikely it was to find anything in the way of "comfort" and "gentleness" from her. Where this young man was actually rather warm and nice once he figured out what was up with people, his sister was cold and harsh. However, she would still be able to settle some matters for the misplaced Juridian.
Upstairs, a woman sat at a neat little desk in what was the "apartment" section of the home. She was tall and thin and very neat, her entire aura feeling strict and strong. She glanced over at the arrived duo as they hobbled up the stairs and cocked a brow behind her visor.
"Erik, I presume?" she inquired, her Yaoen rather cultured and stiff. Not a native speaker, particularly from the formality of her mannerisms, but she was definitely better trained than her brother.

Erik nodded at his name, and 'looked' up to where he thought her voice was coming from. He didn't know her name, or her background, or anything else... But he understood the command in her tone, and instantly became meek and obedient.
"Yes, ma'am. I am Erik. I regret my untidy appearance, and ask for your forgiveness, as I am rather new here and... "
He trailed off, realizing he was speaking completely out of turn. Bowing his head, he waited for the woman to say something else, still be supported on that unyielding and comfortingly solid shoulder.

"You are early. But that is to be expected." she stated smoothly, "You were selected to be guardian to a child that is part of our experiments here. As you are not familiar with the language and customs, nor do you have a home or anything here, it was selected that you would live with someone who speaks a bit of both and requires some form of living assistance as well. You two will be helping each other."

While those weren't the best terms, nor the ones that he expected, he decided to accept them for what they were. A chance to live on this world in such a way that would allow him to... Wait... a child? His heart skipped a few beats at that. Dare he hope? DARE he think that he was called here to provide love and care for a small one of his own?
"I would be happy to do this thing." he said, voice trembling a bit in anticipation. "I have never been instrumental in raising a child, although I have had a few myself... they were taken from me... It would honor me to raise a young one in this manner... And I fully accept the terms and conditions thereof."

The woman nodded a bit. "Diedritch may show you to the room you will stay at for the afternoon. You may meet a child you will be cared for later and you will be relocated to a proper home with him later. For now, just stay there. Food will be brought in later." she explained and turned away, back to work.
Diedritch, apparently the name of Erik's assistant carefully helped the foreign man towards a room to rest. It would be several hours before he'd be able to wake up and "see" the children.

When Erik woke up, he found himself with the immediate knowledge that he was not where he generally woke up - nor was he entirely sure where exactly he was... until he caught the whiff of air from outside. Things clicked quickly, and he remembered. Gaia. He was on Gaia. He pushed himself out of bed, and carefully put his feet - socked, not bare - on the floor. He found his shoes with a bit of feeling around with his toes, and pulled them over, putting them on. Really, he missed magic just now.
"Diedritch? Are you around? Are you here? How long have I been asleep?"

A yawning noise could be heard from nearby and the soft sound of a tail flicking back and forth in the air followed. "Mmph? he questioned, not quite awake. "Jus call me Mason. S'easier." he commented, pawing at his face and sleeping on the couch in the room.
The young man was sprawled on his stomach, arm dangling off the couch and other arm - the one pawing his own face - bent under his head. He was stretched out and his tail was wagging a bit but not really on purpose. The man was somewhere between awake and sleep.

Erik couldn't see any of this, but he could hear the rustling, and guess most of it. As he sat there on the bed with his legs dangling, he was ill-inclined to actually move from the spot. Being as he was quite literally blind to his surroundings, having been too tired to even remember how he had been assisted into this bed... he dare not try and move around carelessly. Even so, attempting to rise and find the rest of his clothing, which he assumed had been removed somewhere in the course of last night, proved to be a challenge that ended with his tumbling over his own two feet while trying to turn around. He landed with a comical expression and a sore leg from smacking into something hard.
"This really isn't getting me anywhere, my friend." he commented, voice slightly irritated at himself. "I believe you will have to rouse yourself in order to help me retrieve my clothing..."

"Why'dja take off your clothing?" Mason asked, the question rather a bit dumb but really, he wasn't quite up yet. Soon enough the male sat up and blinked around, wondering where the hell the other guy's clothes had been thrown. He eventually spotted the pile on a chair near the bed and tossed it to Erik.

"One usually does remove clothing in order to sleep..." Erik responded, cautiously. "... Or do they, on this planet? I will have to try and learn customs here..."
He felt about for what would be the areas his head and arms would fit into, and where the tag on his clothing was, so that he wasn't going to be wearing it backward. Once that was done, he pulled on his pants in much the same manner, and gave a soft smile to where he gathered Mason was, currently. After dressing, he rose to his feet, a bit unsteadily, and took a few steps around the room, gaining his equilibrium and strength. The headache from last night was still pounding, and the way he was breathing - combined with medical training Dragon had fairly insisted on - told him that it was the atmosphere that was causing all symptoms.
Fatigue, headache, trouble breathing, rapid breathing, and rapid heartrate were all symptoms of altitude sickness - which would naturally occur in high areas. Where he had originated from had been another planet with a far thicker atmosphere. It simply was common sense that having the sudden change affect him would occur.
"Do you know where I can find some ginger tea?" he asked, knowing that there were no such herbs as what he was used to on this planet, and using the closest alternative. "And perhaps a bottle of water, and an aspirin?"
