Back in December, I went to a special lab & got a 3D ultrasound of the baby, and I was wondering if you guys had ever heard of or seen this before...

Here is a link to a site about them, the pics are absolutely amazing. smile

I don't have any to scan in or I'd show you all mine. smile

Yes, I have in fact had one back in december! I have one of the better pics in the pregnancy thread somewhere! I think too I may be getting another one. My dr. mentioned doing another one around 30 weeks. They are indeed amazing!

I wish I could have remembered the name of the place I went, that link is just a random one that came up when I did the search to find one. smile

We had one 3-d image with our u/s too. I've seen ads in some pregnancy magazines featuring clinics in each state that offer the 4-d imaging and recording.

smile VERY cool stuff.

I've never had one. I think they are amazing and neat, BUT I think I'm wary of these mall setups where they do the ultrasounds. I've found out that a lot of people aren't educated on it and go just go whoever is cheaper (not saying you of course!). The best ones to go to are the ones who REQUIRE a note from your doctor approving this and/or having a licensed physician who is in charge/works/does the procedures.

I do believe (at least where I am), the military is very strict about giving doctor's consent to do these procedures, so I'll probably just stick to the one I get, lol.

It's amazing how far technology has come along!

At DACH they did a little of the 3-d Luna, so you might get one fo those too. If your clinics are like ours, they tend to keep the maternity/pre-natal medicine as up to date as they can. So while it wasn't a full scale 4-d imaging with recording, it was still pretty neat.

Yeah, it's been a few years since I've had Logan, and since I'm waiting to switch over to the AF hospital till last minute, I'm pretty sure BAMC will have the 3D technology, shoot it's all cool either ways. I've had offers to get a free 4-D u/s done in a clinic when the time comes, but I'm just very particular on that, personally.

Mine wasn't free...it was like $150, and it seemed pretty much like a normal ultrasound to me. (what they did, anyhow, the images definatley weren't the normal ones. )

i'm getting some before i leave s. korea, i saw some of my friends and they were AMAZING! Over hear I've heard that a 3d ultrasound from the women's hospital i go to is only $30 and is just gorgeous, so i'm hoping to get either a 3d or a 4-d one this coming appt even though i'll only be 16 weeks then

You might not be quite far enough along, but they may still be able to show something. smile

I've noticed a lot of the Australian sites are a lot more conservtive regarding ultrasounds than the American counterpart. Pretty much I liked the quote from the second link:
"This summary is not meant to scare you, but to make you aware of a few issues surrounding ultrasound use. "

Of course, take it with a grain of salt being that it isn't the American Pregnancy Association saying that and Aussie sites.

Be sure if you go to a non-hospital environment:
-That there is a certified doctor on staff and doing the ultrasounds
-That they get permission from your OB
-The equipment is approved for use on humans and up to date
