James strolled lightly in the cold air, striding smoothly along the pre-laid path in the park, taking in the splendor of the trees and the crisp tang of coming snow in the air. For one of his particular ilk, this time of year was a wonderful one, and brought with it many experiences.

One of which, for him, was skittering along beside him, giggling up a storm, and chasing the leaves which fell from the trees.

"CORWIN." James barked harshly.

The dragonboy stopped, and turned to look back to the man, giving a big 'but I'm an ANGEL, daddy!' grin to him, before taking off again after the next skittering leaf. James sighed as he did this, and let the child go, too enamored of the weather and the season to particularly want to pay much attention to the impossible child at his side.

Tony was sitting on the bench, humming as he watched his pink-headed bundled up boy play in the sand box. Of course, Theis wasn't really in the sand box. Sand was dirty and Theis didn't like getting dirty. He was carefully, oh so carefully, using a shovel to make his lopsided sand thing. Tony wasn't sure what it was, but whatever.

His blond hair blew in the wind that suddenly picked up, tangling it up. He brought a delicate looking hand up and pushed his hair behind his ear again. Just as he did, he jumped when he heard a male voice call out.

Eyes turned to look at who was yelling and was surprised at what he saw. A dragontaur boy playing with leaves and a very serious, but good looking, man. How interesting! Time to turn on the charm and see if he could pick up this other guy.

"Hello there!"

The pixie boy turned and looked toward his father, trying to see who he was talking to. Did his father know anyone? It made him pause completely in his sculpture, his tail thumping against the ground. He'd bathe later.

Corwin saw the sandbox, and that was all she wrote. He fairly flew into the box, and dived into the sand, while James watched impassively. He looked... lonely, irritated, and a little bit of something else. Confused? Perhaps.

"Greetings." James said, canting his head toward the other male. "Is that one yours?" he asked, motioning to the other in the sand. "I'm sorry in advance for my Corwin, he's not the most thoughtful... boy in the world."

He sounded rather unsure of that last statement.

A sharp scream echoed from the pink haired boy as sand flew all over him and in his hair. The pixie darted from the sandbox with tears in his eyes and he clung to Tony's legs, muttering something in sharp, high notes that couldn't be deciphered by anyone who didn't know the boy. Tears were rolling down his cheeks now, which only made him panic more.

From a back next to him, Tony produced a small hand vacuum which was labeled Theis on it and he began to clean the boy off. Even vacuuming up his hair. It didn't take long to get the little amount of sand off of him and he cleaned up Theis' face with a sigh, looking to the man. "Yes, he's mine. He's ....a little afraid of dirt and germs." He murmured something in Theis' ear and the boy thumped his big tail on the grass again and, seeming content for now, he moved back to the sand box, standing away from it.

".....Uhm... Y-you... you killed my castle..." Theis voice was small and girly. Much like himself.

Tony looked back to the man with a smile after putting the vacuum up. "Sorry about that. He's fine, really."

James sighed, and sat down on one of the benches, and rubbed his temples for just a moment before he gathered his senses back together.
"Urgh... This.. this CHILD..." he grumbled.

Corwin blinked, and stopped where he was, hurriedly trying to rebuild the sandcastle so that the other child would play with him. Continuing to try and build up what he'd knocked down, he spoke to the other child.

"I'm so sorry! See? See? I'm rebuilding it... right? Will you help me?"
PostPosted: Sun Nov 28, 2010 7:21 pm

Theis shifted his weight from foot to foot and watched the other. This boy looked frantic to rebuild what was destroyed and he knelt down on the grass, wings fluttering as he picked up his shovel with two fingers. "I'll play... My name is Theis." He figured he'd introduce himself now than later. "B-but.... but... no dirt.. on me?"

Honestly, he didn't want to explain why, but if he had to, he would.

Tony looked to James and patted the seat next to him. "Come on. Join me here. ...This is honestly the first... time I've seen him interact with another ...kid that got him dirty."

"Okay! No dirt on you, got it!" Corwin said, taking care not to soil his new friend with anything. He started to rebuild at a slower, more cautious pace.

James gave another sigh, and looked across at the other with an aura of distinct... exhaustion. "Seriously... I don't know what the hell I'm doing." he muttered. "I have never had a kid, and never wanted one, but then Corwin shows up and.... why am I telling you this?"

Theis moved to help the boy when he promised no more dirt would get on him. There were just certain things he couldn't handle. Dirt and grime was one of them. Which is why the pixie was so glad it was cold. That meant absolutely no sweat!

Those big black eyes of his wandered to the taur's hair, it was rainbow! Like the pins on his shirt. He had a fascination for rainbows. "...What's your name?" Theis asked, making a very lopsided tower.

Tony grinned and shrugged. "I'm good company, I suppose. 's all there is to it. But seriously, love. No one knows what they're doing at first. He seems happy enough. So you're doing a good job, I think. My name is Antony Wicket. But everyone calls me Tony."

"James. Reid."
Looking across to the children playing, he rested his head on one hand, and idly picked up a leaf off the bench to start playing with. Boredom and/or nervousness, perhaps.
"Your child looks so happy there." he murmured. "I... sometimes have trouble with my temper. I think I scare Corwin a bit. It's not something I mean to do, of course...."

Corwin was making stacks of sandpiles now - pretty much just one big pile, as they had nothing to get the sand to stick together with.
"I wish I could bring my sandbox from home." he said, trying to build back one of the taller towers. "THAT sand sticks together."

"Mistakes happen, love," Tony said, watching the other man with great interest. But then he looked back to the children and sighed. "Theis... Well, he's a handful, that is for sure. Everything has to be spotless. No dirt, no germs. He has to watch me clean so he knows I got everything. ...But he's a good kid. ...You know, when he's not crying or screaming bloody murder because the green beans touch the mashed potatoes."

Tony leaned back against the bench, putting his arms around the back. Which meant one was behind James. Oh, so smoothly hitting on this guy.

"Sticky sand is bad." Theis nodded at his own words and blinked, big black eyes looking to the boy. "....What's your name? You didn't tell me. ....But... your... hair is so pretty." Oh, the little pixie. Anything with color or anything shiny was automatically examined and played with, dirty or not.

"Not usually to me." he said, closing his eyes. "I've always had a handle on things, always knew where my life was going... Until I got Corwin. Now, I'm not sure WHAT to think. I've never been a father before in my life, nor had I ever planned to. My sister is taking to motherhood like a duck to water, but me? I don't even know what I'm doing wrong."

"Corwin!" the dragonboy said, giggling, and undoing his hair from the ponytail that James had put it in. It fell around his shoulders, soft, shiny, clean, and very pretty. Not even tangled.
For all that the man yelled, and sometimes threatened to smack him when he was especially bad... James had never actually HIT him, and was rather good to him. Made sure he had plenty to eat, exercised every day, had regular checkups, and was cleaned every evening.

"Hey, hey..." Tony leaned forward and patted the other on the back. like long time friends. "Don't go beating yourself up now. I mean, parenting isn't a switch. Women have more instincts because they, usually, carry the child with them for so long. If they adopt, it's because their clock was ticking and their instincts were in overdrive. A guy?" He paused for a grin, "Well. We don't have instincts. We gotta build up a routine that works. Eventually we'll get a kick in the a** to say: Hey, you're a dad."

Corwin. Corwin was a weird name. But it was pretty. Like the hair that now fell over the taur's shoulders. Oh, he wanted to pet it and touch it and put it against his face. But that would be weird, right? It was one thing to do it to a teddy bear or stuffed animal, but to another boy's hair? That was sill. Still, the urge was there.

Somehow, Theis tore his big black eyes away from Corwin's hair and back to the sand... structure. "Well... I.. I guess... we could go.. play somewhere else?"

James looked across at the male, and offered a small smile in reply. "Mmm... I suppose so. But there are times he just makes me want to tear my hair out... and his too - but I'd never do that."

He leaned back, resting his head on the bench. "I could go for a coffee right now." he murmured quietly. "I don't suppose you know any good places around here?"

The rainbow-haired dragontaur grinned as he stood, and brushed his body off with his own tail. Sand trickled off into the sandbox and, true to his word, didn't touch the other child.

"We could go play on the castle!" he said, gesturing to the playfort near the sandbox.

"I live close by... I could invite you for coffee..." It was purred out, a very tempting invite if one was gay and interested. Coffee often led to a few things, in Tony's experiences, but that was fine. "The boys could stay here. We can watch them out the kitchen window." He pointed at a house behind him, his house, that looked fairly decent and clean on the outside. Tony patted James' thigh and got up, looking to Theis and Corwin.

"Theis, we're going to the house for a bit. Do you want to stay here with him or do you want to come home with him and play in your room?"

Black eyes widened when the dragon cleaned himself off and then grinned. Corwin was right! He didn't get any dirt on him. His tail flicked as he nodded and ran for the castle before stopping when he heard his dad talk.

"Uhm..."

James nodded a bit, and stood. His arms were wrapped around himself, and he didn't even realize it. This new father thing was really, really getting to him, and not in a good way.

"Corwin." the man spoke to the dragonboy, voice stern but soft.

"Yes father?"

"Stay here with your friend. His father and I will be inside having some coffee. Later... Later, I'll treat you to something sweet, so don't wander off - alright?"

Corwin nodded eagerly, and took Theis' hand carefully, tugging him toward the playfort. "C'mon! We can play over here. There's a lot to do! Do you want to play castle, or house, or doctor, or... We could plaaaay... ummm... Well, what do you want to play?"
