Onuris had decided that now was a good time for his son to get new toys or at least pick out some he'd want for when this Christmas thing rolled around so that he could sneak in and buy them for wrapping and later unwrapping. The tall red haired man walked into the toy store with his hand holding Ichabod's hand he looked around at all the little gadgets and doodads that children enjoyed playing with and hoped that his boy wouldn't pick out a dolly or something else frilly seeing as that's mostly what Ichabod had to play with at home.

The man was sorely underprepared to have a son.

The boy gazed around with interest and looked up at his Father, "May I look around by myself?" he asked fidgeting a little already wanting to go and look around.

Onuris paused a bit and rubbed at his chin with a free hand, "Only if you show me what you want afterwards. We need to get you some of your own toys. Can't have you keep playing with your sister's stuff."

Ichabod gave a small nod - for any other nod might knock his head loose - and soon he was released to roam. The red-eyed boy started to wander along the aisles and shelves with his father following at a distance.

Amy had been feeling guilty for a while now: instead of buying her daughter clothes and real human toys, she had been resorting to vintage knockoffs from the past season in the back storeroom, and pet stores for chew toys that would last longer than a bored evening alone. It was guilt, and maybe a little bit of parental indulgence that had prompted her to bring Maya out to a proper toy store. For proper toys.

"Go for what you want." she called out, finding herself enraptured by the toys herself. They were better than when she had been a child, and look! So realistic. Pausing for a moment, she spotted the flash of red and pink bob up and down from the corner of an aisle. "Stay in this section Maya, where I can here you." was in immature to be attracted to the dolls? Maybe a little bit. Wondering if maybe she could get some early (really early) Christmas shopping down at the same time, she gave her daughter space. It wasn't as if something bad could happen here...right?

Maya stared at the shelves and rows of boxes and brightly colored toys. They were different, and some (after having quickly molested a pony doll) were soft and sweet smelling, unlike the hard chewy things Amy kept around the house. Enraptured, she looked at the other children too. What were they going to get, and why were there so many kids?

Lucky dumplings.

Spotting one boy whose coloring mimicked her own, she grinned with delight.

FRIENDS!

Ichabod was currently looking over a small figure of some sort of superhero still in its cartridge. Supposedly if you hit the 'TRY THIS' button where the plastic was cut away something would happen. The boy stared at the tempting button for a long moment before the small boy nudged a digit into the niche and activated a voice recording, 'DON'T WORRY CITIZEN. CAPTAIN GAIA IS HERE TO SAVE YOU!'

Needless to say the volume and the sudden voice surprised the boy as his red eyes widened and he guiltily dropped the package (but thankfully didn't lose his head) and did some quick backpedaling away from the toy. A small blush crept over his cheek as he looked around and suddenly caught the gaze of the girl staring at him.

He blushed more.

"U...Ummm...Hi?" He murmured ignoring any of the other staring children that might have been in the aisle they seemed to ignore him in kind labeling him as a bit of a spazz.

THE DOLLS TALKED!

The only things Amy had given her thus far had been toys that squeezed if she bit on them too hard, but none that made actual noise the way these dolls did. Well, look at that right here! She was being upgraded to toys that could talk right back to her!

Watching the way the boy turned red was a funny sight. Him dropping the package had been entertaining, but at least she had learnt a valuable lesson of his actions.

Poking at toys made them talk to you.

"Maya." she said, taking a step closer, and then another. "First time." she said, before sidling a little bit closer. "They talk!"

Well, it was fascinating for her. She wondered what else they could do.

He tilted his head toward her and watched as she wandered ever closer toward him until she was pretty much in touching distance while she was introducing herself, apparently. Ichabod broke into a small uncertain (but sincere) smile while his blush faded, "I'm Ichabod...First time in a toystore for me too," he muttered softly as he reached up and scratched at the bridge of his nose thoughtfully before he stared down at the toy that he had dropped while the girl talked.

Ichabod pursed his lips and then nodded slightly, "They do. They talk loud. Wasn't expecting it," he admitted in a low murmur.

The boy wondered, briefly, what the practicality of a talking doll was before he just dismissed it as being a 'neat novelty'.

His first time too? Wasn't that cool! Ichabod. She would definitely... probably..remember that. Following his gaze, she bent down to pick up the toy to stare at it closer. Well... actually this one wasn't very awesome, was it? It looked a bit silly and not quite as soft and pretty as the other toys she had seen. Maybe that was the draw back of having talking toys. They weren't pretty.

"Mom said I can buy a toy." she put the toy back on any random shelf: it didn't matter to her any more, she'd lost interest. "You too?" maybe they could go look for a super awesome toy together.

It'd be an adventure, and so much better than trying to do this alone.

He didn't move to stop her from looking at the toy and he didn't stop her from putting it up. He'd pretty much lost interest in it as well, it was loud and it made him uneasy and it had way too many ... bumps on it. He supposed those were supposed to be muscles and stuff but he never seen anyone look that ... built before. Obviously he didn't watch enough television otherwise he would have known the truth.

Ichabod was addressed again and he nodded a bit, "Yes. Father wants me to find a toy I like," he said thoughtfully as he watched her. Obviously he was thinking along the same lines as her as he suggested, "Want to find a toy together?"

A father, was it? Instead of a mother? She'd seen that happened. She'd also seen what it was like when a kid had both, instead of one or the other. Not that it made a difference to her. Nodding her head, she reached out to give him a hand.

Wouldn't want to lose her new companion in the middle of a toy store. That'd just be...

Scary.

"What first?" what would he like? The fact that he hadn't complained when she'd put away the hard and not very pretty thing boded well for her. Plus the fact that he seemed to agree that this was a mission that needed two people to cooperate to accomplish successfully.

Go team!

He didn't hesitate to slip his hand into hers and grasp on. Why should he hesitate? It was a hand much like his own and the idea that someone of the opposite gender could carry any sort of 'organisms' different than his own didn't seem to register. Even if it did he was far gone. He lived in a house full of females along with his father.

The boy looked thoughtful for a long moment before he pointed a free hand toward a bin full of soft stuffed animals which was next to a shelf filled with building toys that connected together through small bumps, "How about over there? That looks nice," he said thoughtfully. Nothing over there looked oddly built or seemed like it would talk. Totally safe to touch and look at.

Ichabod kept looking just in case she didn't seem to enjoy his suggestion.

Maya followed the direction of the hand and grinned. Soft toys! Cute! The little girl in her (... or rather, the entirety of the little girl) began to squee quietly inside at the sight. They were adorable, and cute and look there were also those building things to build towns and houses for her new family members and then it'll all be...

Delighted at the idea, she nodded her head. Suddenly it felt as if the most important thing to do was go over and play with the toys. To hem and haw over the perfect choice to take home, until the next trip to the toy store. Because she was certain she would not let Amy forget to bring her often.

"Good idea!" she cooed, deciding it would be best to hurry. Tugging at his hands, she lead him over. "Ours!"

She'd learnt that word recently too.

Ichabod didn't fight when she started to tug him over and even voluntarily wandered over there with her smiling from ear to ear as they got closer. These toys looked fun especially the building blocks and things, when they got close enough he gravitated toward the building blocks first though he was mindful of the small girl he had linked hands with still, he didn't want to separate from her since it seemed rather safe and secure to hold hands with her.

"Ours," Ichabod agreed readily as he reached an open display of building blocks so that he could play with them, "what kind'a of toys do you like best Maya?" he asked endeavoring to get to know his newfound friend.

Building blocks first? With a mental shrug, she followed, liking the color and structure of them. They'd be nice to use to build little towns and castles for the existing toys she had, especially Dragon, her latest chew toy. Pausing thoughtfully, she looked over the display.

They were allowed to play here!

Deciding that this toy store was the best thing she'd come across since chocolate ice cream, she shrugged.

"Dunno." she answered, letting go of Ichabod's hand now. They had toys, and they'd need both hands to build things! "Mom buys squeaky ones for me." she frowned. "Only." something to do with her going through them too quickly. With a toothy grin, she pointed to her mouth. "Told not to bite people."

As if it explained things. Well, to her it did.

"Won't bite." she added hastily. The first time she'd tried to bite someone under Amy's guardianship, she'd been sent to her room with no dinner. She was not going to repeat THAT again. "You?"

He saw stuffed animals every day at home of course he'd gravitate toward the blocks more than anything else. When she released his hand he reached up and grabbed a set of blocks and started to tinker about with them thoughtfully as he listened to Maya's response to his question. Ichabod gazed at his friend as she exposed her fangs and seemed thoughtful but not worried about being bitten, in fact he smiled and gave a small nod.

He set his blocks down and moved to lift his head off of his shoulders. She showed him something about herself so he might as well show her something neat he could do! It felt wonderful to do this at his own volition rather than having it be forced, "I...don't have any favorites...I don't have any toys of my own yet," the disconnected head responded before he moved to put the head back on his shoulders.

Ichabod didn't mean to frighten anyone. He was just seeking to be informative!

His head. came. off.

Deciding that this was cooler than the toys, and definitely more so than her own teeth, she blinked.

"That's AWESOME"

She'd learnt that word a couple of days ago too, from a cartoon her mother let her watch some mornings.

"Does it hurt?"

Going back to his words though, she paused. Not having any toys wasn't a good thing. In fact, she didn't know what shed do without her own chew toys. She'd be bored for one thing, and for another... well.

Toys. That was enough of an explanation.

Handing him a blue block, she asked. "How come?"

Ichabod blinked and blushed a bit at her praise, "Thanks..." he murmured uncertainly. He had heard of his ability being called many things but certainly not 'awesome' and it sounded good. The boy took a moment to make sure his head wasn't going anywhere before he moved to play with the blocks again, "No, it doesn't hurt. Do you ever bite yourself on accident cause you have those teeth...?" it was a question of curiosity.

He couldn't imagine himself having fangs; he'd probably bite his lip and bleed all over the place.

The boy accepted the block as he started to fiddle with it in conjunction to the other blocks he had been using, "Mmmm I'm new in my family. Father didn't have any toys for me yet. He took me here to get some! What kind of toys do you have?"
