A memory. A hand from the Moon. A hand the led him into the world through the mists of alabaster. A hand that disappeared into the past as he aged, not ready for a hand to lead him into the curious world just yet. But he, paler than moonlight, could not travel by the coverage of ebony. He was forbidden, a choice rather shackling, to remain where he rose from birth to stay. A wonderful prison, a terrible palace of whizzing machines and flickering motions known as “fire”. This world beneath other worlds was known as “The Labs”. He knew not what existed past the walls of “The Labs” but grew so curious under his ignorance he could not hold his questions no more.

What’s it like outside?” he’d ask those around him, eyes of golden beryl drifting from each busy figure.

Yet, none paid him a pinch of attention. All remained concentrated on their labor as “stretchy second skins” were pulled over hands and “eye windows” around spectrums of eyeballs. He remained persistent however and approached another busy figure, tapping her shoulder lightly with one of his three members.

Excuse me,” he whispered to her gently as he returned his limb to his bosom, one folded to another in a curious manner of complete bothering. “Um, what’s it like outside? Outside these walls, I mean. Could you kindly explain?

Nyx was making her rounds, checking on each one of the experiments, clones, and stored pokemon in their cages. Some of the pokemon, the more docile ones, were alloted a small amount of freedom to walk around the large rooms while there were agents to keep an eye on them. This particular room was highly secure, with reinforced doors and numerous security measures in place, so escape was unlikely. The smaller white haired scientist had spaced out while checking off various boxes and taking notes.

"Whah!?" The woman jumped when something touched her shoulder. She whipped around to come face to face with the white chest plate of some pokemon. "Ah- 7A289." Nyx sighed with relief, having thought maybe she had backed up close to the cage of one ore the more violent inhabitants. She glanced down at her clip board to check if it was the clone's scheduled roaming time and nodded to herself when she saw that it was. "What? Outside? It is hot." The scientist started to turn back around to continue her work, feeling that she had answered the subject's question adequately.

"Hot?"

He tilted his head and floated to the full of her, bending to her front to stare at her with a strange expression.

"Could you . . . please elaborate?" His docile tone had upped a bit now, a tiny bit of pressure in his tone. "Is it . . . " He remembered that word -- "moon". He did not know what it was, knew not what it looked like and knew nothing of where he heard it. Yet, it remained fondly in his brain like a childhood memory. "Is it hot like the moon?"

"Wh-what? No." Nyx looked perplexed at the mewtwo, "It is hot like a desert. There is no moon out right now. Why so many questions, 7A289?" Nyx jotted down a few notes next to the pokemon's serial number, mostly that the pokemon was showing increased curiosity.

"What's a desert? Is it hotter than an organism's blood?" That was the only warmth he ever knew and it was his own. What kind of temperature was it like to he hotter than his own temperate self? It sent a spark down his connecting tube at the thought. How curious!

That curiosity of his had turned tables when the female human in turn asked him a question. Why was he curious?

"I want to go out there." he replied promptly with a nod of his head. "I want to go there . . . and see this "desert" . . ."

This was potentially troublesome, but not unexpected. Even though they were not the original, cloned mewtwo were still exceptionally intelligent. "Unfortunately, that is not yet permitted. We are still reviewing potential caretakers, 7A289." A few more things were scratched down on the paper. "But one will be selected, and then they can help you sate your curiosity." Nyx was not a softy, anything but, however she did have a passion for knowledge, so she empathized with the subject, somewhat. He was still their property, and not a pet, and the rules were the rules. True, Nyx could volunteer to 'walk' various occupants of the labs, but she was busy with work and her own pokemon.

"To answer your question, yes, it is hotter than body temperature, save for fire type pokemon." Maybe the pokemon needed additional stimulants to keep itself entertained, she would make a note of it and have some puzzles books and toys placed in the clone's cage.

"Really . . ." His reply was more of a statement than that of an element which will never be found on the PToE, which is surprise. "Is it other temperatures?" He added, drawing his gaze up quizzically to the surroundings of his home for now. He recalled that chill from moments before and turned back to Nyx, holding a palm out to rest it against the wall which was unremarkably of a chilly sense.

"Does it get, like this?" he asked next, pointing to the wall. "Does it get this variation of hot?"
PostPosted: Sat Nov 27, 2010 9:35 pm

"Yes. Sometimes it is cold, sometimes it is hot, and some places are colder or hotter than others. That wall is cool." Nyx walked around the mewtwo and continued her rounds, though she walked away at a pace that might suggest she didn't mind if the pokemon followed and kept asking questions, but there was work to be done, and she couldn't be standing around all day.

Amazingly, she did not find the questions irritating. When she first joined team rocket, she would have, certainly, but she had grown the patience required to deal with Newton, her drifblim, and now she had a newly cloned Mew to keep out of trouble and teach. 7A289 was nothing compared to that duo.

He did a slow pirouette and floated after her with eyes concentrated on the illegible scribbles upon her flat invention.

"Oh my." he commented and withhold a small breath. To him, that piece of information was like spoken holy scripture. It led to him gaining the revelation of truth -- his first epiphany as a new figure to the Earth.

7A289 squinted his eyes shut, drawing lines together to make the shape. The moon . . . is not hot. So that meant that the moon was cold! But . . . that 'hand from the Moon' . . . was warm. How can this be? It puzzled him and circuits of vibrating neurons nearly made his head crack open. This deep thinking made his head hurt and he wasn't fond of the sensation at all.

"Can organisms in these cold areas . . . can they be warm?" he asked in a phrasing he found best to question in. "Or are they cold too like the places where they live?"
PostPosted: Sat Nov 27, 2010 10:05 pm

"They can be warm, yes. It depends on the creature." Why was temperature so fascinating to the mewtwo? It was a question that spent little time on the scientist's mind as she went from cage to cage in the large room.

"What about . . . a hand?" he asked next. "A human hand . . . from the moon. Is it suppose to be cold . . . or warm?" 7A289 crooked his tail and awaited her answer. It'll finally get the thought nagging him rested for good.

Nyx cocked an eyebrow high, "There are no hands on the moon, 7A289. Not only that, but it is too far away for someone to be able to reach down from it." Perhaps they needed to do some additional testing on the mewtwo; It may have been crazy.

"Than . . . ?" He was drawn speechless and more puzzled than a thousand piece jigsaw. So many questions, so much thinking! He didn't like this, not one bit so he didn't press on.

7A289 withdrew for a moment before choosing to change the subject somewhat. "Are there others like you, out there?" he asked. "Like you, a human . . . are there a lot of you?"

Nyx walked across the room and sat at one of the computer terminals where she began pressing keys and entering data. "Yes, there are billions of humans,." She smiled slightly, seemingly amused with the rapid fire of questions.

"What about me?" he pressed on, mimicking Nyx in motion as she pressed upon tattooed keys on the other piece of elaborate tech. "Are there billions of me too?"

Of course, he did not know how much of a quantity billions were but knew it to be more than just one. He had seen other humans, so that was his proof. If there were billions of humans there had at least had to be another of him, yes? Just another would make him content; just so he had someone else like him.
