The snow-and-silver lioness stood at the edge of the pool, icy mountain water swirling at the bottom of the waterfall. It was humid; the sky was yellow-streaked, and it was far too hot, even for the late afternoon.

Kinyamkela sighed frustratedly and thrust her whole head under the water before flicking it backwards, causing a spray of rainbow droplets to be flung backwards. Runnels of water ran down her fur, marking dark lines on the white and grey fur and trailing over her hot, heavy body. The lioness shifted uncomfortably as a little life moved inside her yet again, and she readjusted her paws on the rock slab by the edge of the falls. She closed brilliant golden eyes for a moment, calming herself before opening them again, a serene expression somehow coming across her face. Forget the discomfort, the constant hunger; all that mattered was the survival of her young that would come soon, soon.

One grey ear flicked backwards briefly, and she swung her head around. Was there something in the jungle? She did not call out for Enki; if it was him returning, she would know soon enough, and if it was not, no need to bring attention and danger down on herself.

Turquoise eyes peered through the bushes, the white marking over her eye slightly visable. She saw the other lioness so slowly moved from the trees to the waters edge. She lowered her head to the water and lapped up some water, her ears flat on her head and her eyes on the lioness. She was now timid around any lion or lioness that lived in these lands. She was self pitting, Maji was right but each time she got out of the self pity it seemed to pull her back down.

Laana liked her and she was sure Ramses would forgive her if he hadn't already. She hadn't asked Nyk to come but yet she couldn't get it out of her head but yet she was trying so hard to forget but yet it didn't seem to work. She wanted to be free of that night but it haunted her, she was scared she would end up like that male.

She finished her drink and raised her head slowly turning to the female. She tilted her head slightly, hoping that nothing bad would happen, not right now anyway, she just wanted a friend.

Kinyamkela couldn't help but stiffen instinctively as the soft grey younger lioness approached the water. She kept her head down, her muscles tensed to flee. But the other was not threatening; moreso she was wary herself, and 'Kela slowly raised her head. She couldn't jump these rocks very well as it was, not in her condition, so rather determine who this was first, and whether she was friend or foe. She turned her head towards the other, and smiled softly, golden eyes reflecting wary friendship.

"Greetings, friend," she said clearly. "What brings you to this place?" She had never seen her before, but a memory surfaced to mind, and she waited to see if her deductions were correct.

Ithi looked over the pregnant lioness and realised in her state she probably wouldn't be much of a threat. She looked as if she was about to burst! Ithi's ears raised a little as she spoke and she looked over the lioness once more before answering.

"What brings me here? I was hoping for a home, now I am stuck and turning mad and I fear Maji hates me. Sorry if I am interrupting anything, I shall leave if I disturbed you." She was being truthful for she saw no reason to lie ever again really. She wasn't how she use to be when in the mistweaver lands and she feared herself when she left but then again she was calming down, maybe she would even start to accept her family one day.

Kinyamkela blinked. Well, that wasn't the answer she was expecting... she was expecting more along the lines of 'I'm here for a drink.' Shaking her head slightly confused, she tilted her head.
"Too much information all at once for me! How about starting with your name?"

The lioness padded slowly away from the water's edge, seeking the shade of a small tree nestled amongst the rocks and never taking her eyes from the other. She smiled warmly. SHe remembered what Ramses had said to her however, if this lioness was who she thought she was... but time enough to make her own judgement on this forthcoming bold lioness.

She realised she had said alot and wished that she hadn't, "Oh.. sorry.." She sighed and took a breath, "I am Ithibati. Ithi to most." She looked at the lioness, her ears flat on her head once more. She didn't know if this lioness knew anything about her and if she did then well, she would probably already have been judged, in which case she had no chance, but she would wait and see. She wasn't normally this bad, she really wasn't.

"May the Storm King watch over you, Ithibati," The snowy lioness smiled at the formal greeting she found herself giving. "My name is Kinyamkela... you probably have not heard of me, I suspect. My mate and I... have been rather scarce from the pride recently." She laughed, flicking a white tailtip over her swollen sides. "As you can no doubt discern. But you have met Maji? I'm sure he does not hate you... I know him as well almost as any other creature, and he does not have much hate in him."
She did not want to dwell on the subject of what she had heard, in case it all was true. The horror stories told to her of the 'cub-eating rose-hued lion' was still fresh in her head, and she curled slightly more protectively around herself. However that did not stop her warm grin.
"Ramses mentioned you now, I remember. How is Laana, that you were looking after? Is she full-healed now?

Her ears raised a little at the formal greeting. "It is nice to meet you. I would like to meet your mate sometime." She also let the topic of Maji drop as she didn't see it necessary to dwell on it. "I wouldn't know too much about Laana, Maji and Ramses have been with her. I think, though don't quote me on this, that Laana and Ramses have got a thing going, I dont know if its official or anything but they are so cute together!" She went a little girly at this point and her voice seemed to raise a little as she said the word 'cute'. She could be normal.

She looked towards the lioness again and at her sides, "May I ask if you know how long it may be till your cubs arrive?" She was slightly weary at this question, the lioness had to be pregnant, no lioness could be that fat naturally, surely?

At the mention of the fledgling romance between her mate's brother and the dark lioness, Kinyamkela's bright gold eyes lit up, and she smiled infectiously. "Ramses had mentioned something to me of the sort, but I haven't seen Laana in so long... Oh, it makes me so happy." She shuffled a bit in the shade, silently offering the younger lioness a patch out of the heat also. "My mate... Enki is Ramses' brother, did you know? I know they didn't until only a short time ago..." Her muzzle curled in a grin. She hadn't done any 'gossiping' since... well, since she'd been a cub squabbling with her siblings, back over the mountains. She adored her time with Enki, but she missed companionship of her own gender. Perhaps they could get Laana to come up here as well...

At the mention of her condition a dreamy smile crossed her face.
"All going well, it should be very soon... I can feel they are living, and yearn to be free in the rain that should come soon also..." SHe drifted away in a little contemplation then, silently communing with her unborn cubs.

Ithi smiled and walked over to the female, the smile on her face grateful for the shade. "No I had no idea about that! Is Enki of the same colouring? I will say if Ramses and Laana also have cubs the black mistie cubs would look adorable! I am sure yours will as well even if I have not seen the father!" She smiled adn then thought over how this pride seemed to all be on big family. "I haven't seen my brother and sister, or mother in so long.." She randomly said that without even reaslising what she had said. "Oh I am sorry.. I didn't mean to say anything, thinking aloud again!" She chuckled and licked at her paw, also quite random!

Kinyamkela smiled fondly at the mention of her beloved. "Enki is rather mist-coloured, with an earth-hued mane... not much like his brother, I admit," and she laughed freely. Her body had fallen into the relaxed part of the cycle, no longer wishing to flee but instead to lie and be comfotable amongst aquaintances. But something the other lioness said struck a note.
"You... have a brother? A sandy-hued one?" She kept wondering why the name 'Ithibati' was ringing a bell.

Ithi smiled, then the smile vanished, "Yes he is, his name is Tumai. We didn't get on, I use to bully both him and our sister." It then dawned on her that she knew what colour he was, "How did you know what colour he was?" She was curious now, it didn't make sense. Was Tumai here?

The snowy lioness blinked at the vanishing smile, and then smiled sympathetically as she moved her bulky weight into a slightly more comfortable position.
"Not here, Ithibati, but I did meet a Tumai on the edge of the jungle. I knew I'd heard your name somewhere before," and she laughed. " And when he mentioned you, there was only concern for your wellbeing, you know," and her gaze turned serious. "Are you not worried about your family outisde the pride borders?"

As soon as she said it she could not help the guilty start in her head, however. She had left her family, with no knowledge of what they would do alone... she frowned, and closed lumiscent golden eyes for a moment. That was something to be thought of another time. Perhaps... when these younglings she carried could have lives of their own... she might...

Ithi listened slightly confused, "He wanted to know how I was?" She was more then a little confused, then mention of her family and truth be told she hadn't thought about them that much, "Mother seemed to dislike me, always took a liking to the youngest... I never got on with either Tumai or Hisani so.. I don't know. I guess I do wonder sometimes..." She lowered her head and wondered not knowiing what she was thinking much anymore, her family... Where were they?

"Well, I'm sure you'll see them again, Ithibati." Kinyamkela smiled comfortably at the younger lioness and closed her eyes briefly, tail flicking idly at the flies that appeared even in the shade. The rumbling of the water tumbling hundreds of feet above them was lulling her softly, and she shook herself awake irritably, a kick from an enthusiatic cub to her ribcage helping that process enormously.
