Vance eyed the front of Twilight Designs and he sneered. He'd avoided this place like the plague ever since Merci got Dio. Now he had a box clasped in his hands that he was hoping he could get away with leaving here. He was sure he wasn't the first person to return one of these things. After all not everyone was a suicidal psycho like his mistress.

The medusa had tagged along with Merci when she drove into town today. He'd spent most of the ride biting his tongue so he didn't tell Dio off. The stupid black thing had been telling him it was rude to leave his wisp in a tiny box, and that she would probably like to see the scenery. Like he cared what a soul sucking creature from the bottom of hell wanted.

Anyway, he'd parted ways with them when the creepy thing had seen a book store and drug Merci into it. It gave him time to come over here and drop this wisp, or whatever it was called, off before they headed home. Vance held the box closed with one hand and used the other one to push the door open. He slithered inside and flicked the door shut with the end of his tail. It wasn't really what he was expecting, it just looked like a normal jewelry store. For some reason in his mind's eye he assumed there was a display case with these crazy floating rocks in it. Maybe a torture chamber in the back room to scare people into wanting to take them home. Or some crazy mind control helmet on the counter that they had people put on before they went into the sales pitch.

Instead it was boringly bland. Vance approached the counter with a scowl on his face. His unique blindfold, with playing cards over his eyes, was firmly in place. It wouldn't be socially polite to accidentally turn someone to stone while trying to make a return after all. Despite his eyes being covered he could still see clearly, like a two way mirror. He kept a hand firmly on top of the box but placed it on the counter space in front of him, waiting for someone to assist him.

'Unsatisfied customer, are we?' Hawk murmured as he walked in from the back room. This was what had been dropped off, not the Star-gazer or Merci. No, he was likely not the one that the younger fiend wanted to pay attention too at the moment.

His tail flicked back and forth as he came up to the counter, blind eyes staring at Vance for a moment before he looked down at the box. 'If you keep her locked up - you may pay the price with her annoyance later.' A brief pause. 'And there's nothing worse than someone that is soul-bonded to you being annoyed at you. Let her out and come to the back room - we can discuss your situation there. It makes it easier, in the long run, and I can keep her distracted from you ...'

This one would have to be handled carefully. Though he was not sure how exactly Merci had managed to actually find something that was a shadow and give it to someone so ... unreceptive ...

The medusa furrowed his brows, it was another one of the parasites. This one however was older and more refined it seemed. He wondered what happened to the person who'd sacrificed their life force or whatever to this particular creature. Maybe they were in a closet somewhere half dead, or maybe it had finished it off already. After all no one was with him it seemed.

Vance moved his eyes down to the box and finally spoke. "I don't want to let it out. It's creepy." There was a bump against the box lid and it shifted a bit on the counter. He frowned and picked it up, firmly pushing the lid back down. "Can I just leave it here with you?" He pushed the container toward Hawk and then folded his arms. Once he'd left her here he'd meet up with Merci and go home. This whole ordeal would be over and he could get back to his life.

'He's not dead, my soul-bonded. Just so you know.' Hawk might have laughed at Vance, but instead just shook his head in response. He knew of the medusa's worries and concerns - he radiated them loudly.

'And I cannot take it - the bond is with you. To break it would do both grievous harm to you and the shadow. I assure you, I would prefer no harm come to either of you. Before you say something, I prefer guardian health over that of the shadow in most cases.'

With a swish of his tail, he pointed to the back room. 'Let us retire there. I have tea or coffee prepared, if you would like something. Or something to to snack on?'

He would the fiend stay in the box for the time being - though he would press the point later.

Sometimes he wished he had a rattle on his tail. It would be so satisfying to be able to shake it at people that annoyed him. As it was however he just frowned. Grievous harm sounded bad. "How can you tell that it's uh, bonded to me?" He unfolded his arms and picked up the box again, using his thumbs to hold the lid down. "Merci was there, and she's already got that other one right? Can't it have bonded to her?"

Okay so he didn't like the thought of it bonding to his mistress either, but that would be preferable to being stuck with it. She at least seemed to like having that black creature around her.

Vance slithered toward the back room, where Hawk indicated. He'd never been really back here before. Merci came all the time, but usually all the medusa tended to stay home. He only insisted on coming along on this expedition because he wanted to see this little yellow monster properly given back. The room however was rather impressive, the mural of the sky on the ceiling and the comfortable furniture.
