Terra had left Kousetsu. Not permanently, just to get away for a little bit of time. She wasn't very far, either, but the temperature was considerably warmer than on the tribe grounds. Though adapted to colder weather, she found herself very comfortable in the cool shade of the trees along the path.

Looking ahead, she saw the path lead to a small clearing. She decided to rest there for a bit, before returning to the tribe. Terra reached it and found herself a boulder to perch upon. It sat near a small pond and was surrounded by flowers of all different sorts. She enjoyed watching them, the flowers swaying in the cool breeze, the small fish swimming around in the pond. Resting her head on her paws, she stared and allowed her mind to wander.

User ImageIah took a sigh and shook his head. He knew that he shouldn’t have left the tribe grounds, but he said he would go out looking for things the tribe could use, after all it was the least he could do for all their hospitality but then he had let his mind wander to his current predicament and had gotten lost. It was a double blow to his pride because he wasn’t able to keep his word of getting herbs and he never got lost. Sure most people would think so after the year he had just walked around but it wasn’t the case. Iah wasn’t lost he just wasn’t found at the current time. With a sigh he looked around trying to figure out just exactly where he was and recognized…absolutely nothing.
This had to be a complete disaster, maybe he should have stuck with the shaman position. Then he wouldn’t have to leave tribe grounds, but this caused Iah to sigh, he liked wandering, he just had a problem of letting his mind wander as well.

The clearing had only two paths leading to it, and down the one Terra hadn't entered from, she could smell a nearby fox approaching. Lifting her head slightly higher, she watched the path and waited until the fox was in her line of sight. It was strange, since she wasn't in a very populated area; she hadn't sensed another fox since leaving Kousetsu.

Tired of waiting around, she jumped off the rock and walked a little distance along the path. Finally he was visible, a black and white fox not too far away from her. He obviously wasn't a memeber of Kousetsu, but she couldn't see any other tribe tattoos on him, either.

"Hello there," she finally decided to call out, once she was close enough.

Suddenly something clicked and he realized where he was. He had often come by here while still a kit with his sister. It was a place to get away from other foxes. Now he just needed to find out when he would be done being so depressing and find a way back. However something suddenly drew him out of his musings. It was a voice… a female voice.
Iah suddenly froze up. He knew he shouldn’t and it was the polite thing to respond back but he was unprepared. Iah did admit one of his more major faults was his utter social awkwardness. He mentally berated himself getting lost and being caught unaware by a stranger just signaled he had the worst luck ever. “H-hi” he finally managed to cough out.

Terra tilted her head to the side, examining the black and white fox as he neared her. He seemed very shy, since all she had said was hello and it still took him a while to respond. She smiled at him politely. "I'm sorry if a startled you," she said. For all she knew, he had simply been caught off guard. She had been fairly deep in thought only a few moments ago, also.

"What brings you around here?" She asked after a bit of a pause. "I haven't seen another fox around in a while."

Iah cocked his head to the side as he stared at her a bit. She seemed to respond politely enough and he was trying to be bet at dealing with social situations. she hadnt attacked but then again that didnt mean to much some foxes liked drawing you in before attacking. However something about her posture said other wise and she was sorry for startling him. " ah its okay. Its my own fault... was thinking to hard" he finally responded.
"I was just exploring. i was thinking of joining a tribe but I'm sort of... I needed some time away and I think I wandered to far" Iah explained still not knowing why he was divulging all this information. "ah well this part has always been a bit deserted"

Terra chuckled, shaking her head slightly. "I know the feeling," she replied with a smile. "I was the same way just a bit ago, right over there," she told him, indicating with a nod toward the clearing she came from. Terra didn't know of any other tribes nearby, so he must have been wandering around for a while.

"I understand, I just stumbled upon this place from my tribe, as well," she said. "Which tribe were you thinking of joining? Is it around here somewhere?"

Iah followed her nod towards the clearing and nodded. “Ah I see” he pointed out and wondered what he could add to bring more conversation. Then she asked a question and he took a deep breath. He could go with that. “Ah I was thinking about joining Yasashii, it’s a tribe of healers. I don’t know if I’ll fit yet but I thought there was no use in wandering around with out a purpose and I thought I would give it a shot” he answered. "Its a few miles away from here. not exactly close but not too far off"

"Yasashii, huh?" Terra repeated. "I haven't heard of them, are they new? I don't know many other tribes, besides my own. Haven't really been to many other places."

"It's a very interesting concept, though," she continued after a bit. "A tribe of healers... We could use some of those around here..." Terra trailed off, remembering the last long blizzard storms that Kousetsu had to endure. Her own nephew had returned to the lake with an injured leg. And he hadn't been the only one.

"So are you particularly good at pinpointing herbs and such?" Terra questioned, pushing away the earlier thoughts. "Or what else would your tribe members do? Grind and mix herbs into medicines? Deliver them to the tribes? Which do you do?" Terra was growing a little more comfortable around this stranger, and the questions seemed to come to mind faster than usual. She was interested by anything and everything, and at the moment he was the most interesting thing around. Still, she had manners.

"Oh, and sorry for bombarding you with so many questions," she finally said. "It's a bit of a problem I have sometimes. You don't really have to answer anything you feel is too personal..."

Iah blinked a bit at the onslaught of questions he was faced with. Normally he would be terrified and hide behind Zillah, but Zillah wasn’t here at the moment and he was trying to break out of needing her. He took a deep breath and wondered what the best way was to go about answering the vixen in front of him.

“Ah no its good to be curious and know as much as you can about your surroundings, even if they are a bit far off. It is a very interesting concept but I think my elder was called to create it for the case that some tribes didn’t have enough shamans and they could call for our aid. We go where we are needed healing foxes with medicine or with the small healing arts. My job in the tribe I guess is to use the herbs the others have created and make the medicines along with the regular duties required of shamans. I guess its pretty new its not quite official” Iah answered surprised even he was talking this much.

"I'm glad you're understanding of my curiousity then," Terra said, a small smile forming. "And I'm convinced your tribe's Modeity was watching our tribe when your Elder was called," she joked. Terra realised that she hadn't told him which tribe she was in, and wasn't sure if he knew the symbol on her hip.

"I'm in Kousetsu," she said, "and we've endured a few blizzards recently. We're normally well equipped to deal with them, but the last large bout of them wiped out over half of the tribe. We don't really know what's happened to them all, but hopefully they were able to flee the lands for a time. Anyways, we're still struggling to find food for the tribe, waiting for the game to return. And I know my nephew was injured a little in the storms. He isn't too bad, but he also wasn't the only one. And there aren't very many helpful herbs left in the area, obviously."

Iah found her smile contagious and smile back a bit weakly. He normally didn’t have to many facial expressions but he was on his way to trying to change that as well. “ah well if you tribe needs help just call we’ll be glad to help” Iah nodded knowing she was only joking with that statement.
“Well blizzards are tricky things. You think you are all prepared for them but Mother nature has a way of catching you off guard when ever she wants. I’m sure if they where used to the terrain and where able to see the danger coming they where able to get out. Foxes and other animals have an uncanny ability to sense the weather and things Mother Nature likes dishing out. I’m sure they are safe” Iah nodded. He looked around “well if you still need herbs and such there are a couple around here. I could mix up some stuff to take back to the tribe.” He suggested.

"I will be sure to keep you in mind, then," Terra replied with a chuckle. After she calmed she added, "I'm sure you are right about that, especially for their own sakes. A lot of the others are still worried, though." She sighed, but then determined to cheer up for the sake of her new acquaintance. She didn't want to bother him with the plights of her tribe.

She looked back up at him at his suggestion. "Oh, that's a great idea!" She said. "I know more thana few wounded foxes, and we have no more herbs back home."

Iah nodded in understanding. "well its natural for loved ones and friends to worry. I can sit there and rationalize hey they got away but for people who are closer you still worry because they mean something" Iah pointed out.
"well then I would be glad to help you out. mmm" Iah trailed off and looked around. He was great at healing other foxes and making the medicine but when it came to gathering Iah often got sidetracked and his attention caught by something else. However luck seemed to be on his side today. "ah thats a good plant to use" he pointed out with a paw noticing the small little plant over near a patch of bushes.

"Yes," Terra said, nodding in agreement. She was enjoying the company of this very delightful fox. Smiling, she added, "You have a good head on your shoulders, sir." She laughed as she said this, glad for a lighter mood.

She followed him over to the herb he had spotted. "Hmm, I'm not particularly familiar with any of the herbs around here," Terra said, examining it. "I may be a Gatherer, but they aren't really native to Kousetsu, even in the good months. I'll just have to trust you, then." She added the last part with a small smile. "Though I would also need to know how to use them, if they're different from the herbs we normally use."
