To submit a character for approval create a new thread in this subforum filling out the appropriate form for the type of character you wish to apply for. Please title your thread as follows:
[Weyr Name] Character Name --> Rank + Craft and/or "Candidate"
Examples:
[High Telgar] Bob, Journeyman Fisher
[Ghenza] Bill - Apprentince Healer / Candidate
[High Reaches] Billy Bob:: Candidate
If revisions are needed, a staff member will note the necessary changes or questions they see. Once you have made your revisions (in a new post so that we can see the differences), please change the thread title to [REVISED], at which point a staff member will look over your changes. We realize some people are shy and don't want inaccuracies pointed out publicly. Just put "PM crit" at the top of your thread.

Guidelines - Things that we do not accept as one of your two flaws: too stubborn (unless it presents legitimate problems and doesn't just make them look badass), too clumsy, too shy (unless they are so shy they can and will be bullied by other characters), anything physical (these are personality flaws), phobias (unless it hinders their life in a way that is not cute or comical) or anything that makes them seem more badass rather than flawed.
- What we look for in flaws are actual flaws. Something that makes your character unappealing in some regard and even weak. Jealousy is a flaw, for example; it makes people look petty.
- Submitting a character does not mean you can RP. They must be approved. When they are, "approved" will appear in the title. If something needs to be changed, a staff member will post what it is. We frequently visit to check for new apps, and if for some reason we don't, feel free to (politely) prod a staff member qualified to approve you to go take a look when you see them in the thread.
- Characters can not be played as dragonriders, wherhandlers or firelizard owners unless you have been given one. They can, however, be formerly bonded to any of the three.
- Realism is a must with appearance. We will be more loose than canon (so there may be more blondes for example), but no pink hair, no red eyes. Nothing like that.
- Both modern names (Debera, Thomas, Fiona) and more fantasy-sounding names (Lessa, Jaxom, Xhinna) are applicable. However, there are no last names.
- Characters with mental illnesses will not be Searched and will not Impress.
- Currently, we are restricting the use of HAD (Hear All Dragons).
- Do not tell us how your character makes other people feel. It is up to the players of the characters you RP with how they feel, not you. (Ex: So-and-so scares everyone ever every time he coughs.) Putting down "could be" traits is fine. (Ex: So-and-so might seem intimidating if you're a shy type of person.)
- Be aware of your characters upbringing and be realistic about it, please.

Questions and Answers Q: I want to RP, but I don't have a pet. Can I still make a character?
A: Absolutely! Most rider characters start out as candidates and have no dragon. We also strongly encourage characters that are not candidates! You can RP anything from a healer to a harper here!
Q: I want my healer / chef / similar character to have their own office / kitchen / so on. Is this allowed?
A: Yep, but it will have to be worked out with the staff who is in charge of that Weyr. Just to keep things organized!
Q: What kind of names can my character have?
A: English names, fake names (ex: Senra, Roka). They can be named after objects or dragons or anything reasonable for the setting.
Q: Can I make a former rider whose dragon has died?
A: Yep.
Q: Can I make a current rider and you color me a dragon?
A: With prior approval, which can be obtained here.
Q: Can I make a journeyman?
A: Yes, but they must be an appropriate age. No 12-year-old journeyman prodigies. Prodigies do exist, but if too many people have them it becomes a rather dull RP. So, if these are given out, it will be via contest.
Q: Can I make a master of a craft?
A: When we are in need of players for these types of characters, please feel to try for one. There's no guarantee we'll say yes.
Q: Since the age limit has been raised, can my journeyman Impress?
A: Yes, but if we get flooded with journeymen we're going to put a limit on how many we'll take. You can be an average Joe and still Impress!
Q: Why are there restrictions on what kind of characters we can apply with? You're restricting my creativity!
A: Because we're trying to control the demographics of the Weyr. Seriously. And also the rest of Pern. Think how angry Harper Hall would be, for instance, if all of its apprentices decided they'd rather be dragonriders. And for that matter, think how unbalanced the Weyrs would be if everyone was either a bronzerider or a senior healer. They won't remain permanently closed, so be patient if you really have to make a certain character.
