To all members: What would you like to see in this guild? Are there certain topics that you are interested in?

Personally I like the topics that tend to come up. We just don't have enough active members.
I'd like to see more topics talking about specific paths.

I'm thinking that some "classes" might attract and keep people more active. We can have people who are knowledgeable on certain paths or things (such as meditation) and they can give a weekly "lesson" on the topic. There would obviously be a disclaimer for each topic, since approaches to ritual, meditation etc etc vary from person to person. But I think it might help to get members who are newer to the pagan path to come to the guild and be active, if we're offering up a constant flow of information, rather than just discussions.

I agree. I'm quite new to my path, and as I've been trying to find some books on the subject, it's quite hard to find them in store. And there's always the internet...but as we all know you can't always trust it.
I am personally a little more interested in the history of paganism. Where it all started, (though I'm sure it would be hard to definitely say where and when it first started) what it's all about, etc.
And I think I have a strength in healing abilities, so anything about herbs and medicines I would be interested in.

History could be tough since there are so many religions that fall under Paganism Is there a certain period of the history that you may be interested in? I love history and have studied some ancient history - Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece and Rome. I also studied the Burning Times. But I would be willing to post what I can. Anyway, I will work on that.
Is there anyone in here that is willing or knowledgable enough to post on other topics: Herbs, stones, etc?

I could definitely do affiliation lessons. Herbs could be the main focus, but I could also do stones, colors, planets, etc etc. Just giving basic information and a bit of a lesson.
I think history should be avoided, mainly.

I think learning even general history gives us insight and eliminates a small level of ignorance in some things. I have spent a lot of time and energy studying the ancient Egyptians and their culture in order to further my own knowledge when it comes to my path. I found it to be quite important. It is all about what you research and then relaying the facts in the proper terms and way. You know what they say: you should not live in the past, but you should learn from it. Besides all that, some people find it interesting. The only difficulty is that Paganism is such a broad and undefinable topic that the subject would have to be narrowed greatly.

Only reason I suggest that it should be avoided is because of human error (which is in everything of course) and because of how broad the topic is. However, if information is cited properly, I don't see why those of us who have a good understand and grasp of specific histories, should give a small lesson. Yes, I'm aware that the topic is broad, but one would simply relay what one knows. Basic lessons open people up to doing more personal research.

I'd like to see more topics on chaotic views and paths personally. See. I don't like to be called a chaos magician. While I am rather chaotic. I don't like using an excessive amount of terms in magic. It bugs the crap out of me when people try to label me in a specific magical path.
It's like... They don't know all my beliefs, views or experiences. Because I'm not about to share all of my most personal thoughts with strangers on the internet. I'm introverted and wary of cyberspace to a degree.
So, if someone doesn't know me in real life and hasn't ran into the same forces I have. Actually worked with them and such or at least given acknowledgment. And these forces have given some approval of them.
Then they wouldn't really know first hand where my beliefs lie. Or who my higher powers really truly are. So, it feels impolite and quite rude when people try to shove me into one of their boxes for terms.
If anyone is really wanting to coin a term for the magic I use. Well, Just. Customized Witchcraft? That's all I really see it as. It's essentially Witchcraft in general where I take what I like and don't like and ignore certain formalities.
I think that helping people create formulas for creating their own magic and ritualistic styles that are personal to them. Could be rather beneficial. But, also people who prefer to do more structured rituals steeped in history have something to offer as well.
For instance. I could be reading about a ritual from someone else's path/practice. I might not believe in the same power. But, some things from that ritual might be of use.
I think some focus on the common rules of magic might be good to have around too.
Such as...
Regular practice, keeping journals of such. Dream journals, the differences between going astral and lucid dreaming. (Since some people seem to think they are both one and the same, and they aren't even though the two can be intertwined sometimes. it's confusing xD) Personalizing their practices. Not doing something if you don't have a good reason.
Or, sharing ideas for sacrifices. Some people might offer blood as a sacrifice, others animals, some might offer a meal, or some of their herbs, and so on and so on.
Maybe a topic about the idea of a sacrifice simply being trying to to give something back to the higher force helping you out.
And definitely, good spirited discussion on philosophical views on practices. That is one thing i LOVE about this guild. People don't take differing opinions personal. Adults, actually exist on the internet. Who knew?

That is what I was talking about, the documented histories with references. I do plan on adding a little more history and culture to my Egyptian thread. Also, I will add some information on the so-called "burning times". I would like for people to know the actual facts instead of the SRW b.s. information that is out there. I will also be finishing and possibly redoing the fairycraft thread. I may post a little on Mesopotamia too. @ Dragoness - I would greatly appreciate it if you posted some of your knowledge on here with herbs and such. Although, we have tried to draw some interest in lessons and not too many were in to that idea but you can try if you would like. @ Satrevi - I do like your ideas but I for one don't know a lot about chaos magic. Although I do agree with the whole dislike of terms and labels. Would you like to start a topic on sacrificing? Even just a discussion type topic would work for that.

I can start a thread on herbs, though it may take me time.
I think a discussion on sacrifices/offerings would be great. Satrevi, if you're able and willing, I think you'd do great at giving a lesson on chaos magic, you might be able to incorporate quite a few other things as well. It would definitely be different, and interesting.
I think an informational lesson on the burning times is PERFECT. So many people now a days just simply don't know the historical facts about it, especially her in America.

Real life sucks and I might be crashing place to place soon. but sure, I can do some lessons in magic. I more just do, whatever seems to work though and usually chaotically make it up as I go along xD
I'll think up lessons when I don't have a throbbing caffeine headache I'm fighting. Took me like a half hour to realize this thread was a sticky.

lol, poor Satrevi. S'all good, I think we can both understand the hectic ways of life. Life, the truest form of chaos there is!
I'm working on an herbs bit, I should have something of it up in a few days. smile
