-He had probably thought she was never going to talk to him again after... 'the incident'. It had been weeks since she'd phoned or even texted him. How did she explain the kind of thing that had happened? How could she thank him properly? How did she get over the embarrasment and horror of failing.. and of then being toted around like a frail princess in nothing more than a thin silk nightgown. She was so confused.. as likely he was too. Which would probably have made the text Azzo had received slightly startling.
It was simple and shortQuote: "Could we meet tonight so I can give you your Christmas present? I'll be waiting outside the coffee shop on Fifth if you want to come." The night was beautiful, snow covering the world in an glittering ivory blanket, people bustling by with cheeks pink and rosy, the heated puffs of people's breath floating up into the sky. But there was not smile on Aurora's face as she sat and waited, a large wrapped box laying on her lap. Teal eyes falling shut, she wondered softly if he'd even come at all, or if she'd just be left with her ocean of brooding thoughts as the clock ticked towards midnight.-

Azzo was laying on his bed watching the snow globe he'd gotten. He'd bought Aurora gifts and Melody, now at least one he was unsure if they'd even get it. He sighed Aurora... she was probably still mad at him. He'd went through all that trouble, and Paris. OH god Paris, the thought made him blush.
His phone signaled he had a message, he looked at it sitting on his desk. He was debating on getting it or leaving it there. He sighed, as he got up and looked to see who it was. "Huh?"
Azzo couldn't help but feel some relief. He gathered the things he got for her, grabbed an old white wicker basket and some left over Easter grass, placed it all in the basket and wrapped it with the best paper he could find.
He made his way out with the basket and another something wrapped in a blanket and tucked into the crook of his arm. He wanted to show her this. He was dressed in his normal vest and button up shirt he had added a coat, and he had a hand knitted scarf around his neck. It was too cold to go without the extras. When he showed up he sighed, approaching behind her. "I'm sorry, I'm late. Aurora." He offered quietly.

-He had no reason to apologize considering she'd not specified a time at all. When he did arrive she was a mixture of thankful that he'd come and sick to her stomach nervous. Would he say something about.. everything? Certainly he would.. But for now they could pretend. She could see that he was toting something as well, and she hadn't really expected a gift, being as early as it was.-
"I'm glad you came" -Her words were polite, her smile genuine but small. It was obvious that something was wrong, but it was probably just the whole mess right? She was attempting to ignore it for the moment.
The gift in her lap shifted a little on her dress as she made room for him on the bench, the faux fur of her short jacket rustling around her neck.- "You didn't have to get me anything you know."

Azzo saw her smile, he didn't actually look much happier, but then when did he? He returned the smile, "I wasn't sure you'd talk to me again." He said with a pause and chuckle, "Silly isn't it?"
He sat with her sitting the basket between them. Then the globe was sat on his lap. He leaned back and sighed, "I know, but it's Christmas time. You're suppose to do something nice for those around you."
He looked down at the basket, "If you want, you can wait till Christmas to open it?" He offered, he'd adorned the wicker handle with ribbons and a bow. "Besides, you have no idea what I had to go through to get this." His cheeks were tinged with red, hopefully she'd assume it was from the cold.

"Mmmmm..." -The soft sound she made made it clear the same idea had hit her as well. And while for the time it might have helped.. to shut herself away and pretend nothing had happened eventually she'd miss him...- "I was acting silly I think"
-His comment on the present drew forth a curious look from her gazing down at the pretty basket.- "Uh oh... I hope you didn't totally outdo my gift"
-Her gift was lifted gingerly in his direction, waiting for him to unwrap. Elegant paper was wrapped with spiraling ribbon and once inside he would find a wooden box. Inside the velvet liked box was a puppet, carved out of smooth pieces of wood that shifted and turned on fine strings. Long feathers made up the wings and lush tail of the phoenix puppet, with carefully painted details around it's face. It was certainly an expensive gift, for she had nothing better to spend money on then anyone and whatever, but whether or not it was a good gift... her eyes searched his face softly for the answer.-

Azzo seemed to take the clue she'd thought the same, he sighed, "I'm sorta glad." He paused, "The silly part I mean."
He chuckled, "Well actually it wasn't the gift that was costly." He admitted with a frown. His eyes looked over the package she handed him curiously, his hand slowly undid the wrapping paper so as not to tear it. When he had the paper undone, he opened the box to a phoenix. He blinked, it was certainly fancy.
He had taken it out and was working with it to see how well it moved, he looked impressed. "Very nice." He said softly brushing a feather. "Thank you Aurora."
He said with a smile. "If you want to open yours you're welcome to." He smiled slightly, hoping she liked the array of bath stuff there was in the basket if she opened it tonight or decided to wait till Christmas.

-His gift open, she dutifully tore into her basket of goodies, another smile touching her as her fingers lingered over the mixture of bath items. Girls were silly... The fact that he'd remembered what she'd said was just as wonderful a gift as the actual present. She'd certainly use them, and she could never have too many. It was a really good gift.- "Ohhhh, it's wonderful. Thanks so much."
-Mood raised, atleast momentarily, she motioned softly at the shop behind them.- "Would you like to get some hot chocolate maybe?"
-She hadn't really been sure what she'd planned on doing after giving him his gift... and she'd suddenly realized it. Hot chocolate was a good start though on a nice snowy day.-

Azzo smiled, "I'm glad you like them."
He tilted his head at the offer and nodded, "I'll buy." He said with a smile. As he got up after the puppet was stored away and tucked under his arm with the other object and offered her his free hand. He was debating on mentioning what'd happened with Melody, however, he pushed it aside.
No need to ruin anything more than it was. He looked over the snow, "It's hard to believe that it'd actually snow this time of year." He said with some interest.

-Aurora relented to his request, having learned long before his views on paying. Following him into the charming little shop she chose a hot chocolate with a little french vanilla flavoring and a small stick of white chocolate in it. After he'd ordered his drink and paid, she juggled her warm drink and the gift baskets to open and lead him out of the door.
She didn't stop at the tables, or even the bench they'd sat at before, gazing out across the snow covered street before she started leading him off, offering little more then a slightly whimsical.- "It is strange.. but this reminds me of home at least"
"It's nice sometimes." -It was times like these that really made her wish she was home. Not the thing with Azzo... but everything else. Far far away from Destiny City.-

Azzo had ordered a peppermint hot chocolate, he got marshmellows in it, extra actually, and some mint sticks. He also ordered a bag of Christmas sugar cookies to go.
He followed her out the door and walking. "Mmm, it'd be nice if there were less buildings too. Like the country." He agreed, juggling the things he had, as he walked trying to fish out a cookie.
"I bet, it must've been pretty were you lived." He said after a second. Watching the sparkling of the snow as he managed to fish out one, "Want one Aurora?" He asked offering her the bag.

-The smell of peppermint and vanilla was fittingly christmasy, strongly noticeable on such a crisp clean winter evening. The chilly air was nice and familiar on her skin, the air crisp in her lungs. His sentiment was agreed with through a soft nod.- "Yeah, I lived in the country on a farm. There were always so many stars"
"We might be able to find someplace a little less cluttered if we head closer to the edge of town." -Atleast she was heading someplace now, rather than anywhere and nowhere.
The offer of a cookie was welcome, and she nodded softly, attempting to move her hand a little to get it, finding it difficult to do without either spilling her drink on the left or her basket slipping on the right. Pausing a moment, she nodded and faced him, adding sheepishly.- "I do but... could you put it in my mouth for me?"

Azzo nodded, "Yes, I do miss the stars." He said as he glanced up towards the sky obscured with the lights of the city.
He pondered, "Actually that sounds like a good idea." He said with a nod, it would be nice to walk out to the edge of the city and watch the stars.
He watched her seem to debate with how she wanted to juggle her things, eventually she ended up asking him to place a cookie in her mouth. He chuckled, as he pondered, "Sure hold on."
He pondered to give her the first cookie or fish out a second, it took years of puppet practice for him to learn to juggle things like this. When you're trying to play five puppets at once, you often find yourself with a lack of hands. He placed the first cookie in his mouth holding it there before fishing out a second one for Aurora.
He then walked over and held it up to her mouth, allowing her to bite down on it. Before they started walking again, he juggled his hot chocolate back over to his free-er hand and took a sip of it after eating the cookie. "Mmm not homemade, but it's good." He said.

-She waited patiently, opening her mouth a little when the cookie was offered at last. Her teeth secured the sweet and sugary treat, savoring the crispness of it for a long moment before her tongue helped to pull it into her mouth, crunching on it daintily. The cookie was good and fresh, delightful in fact when chased down by a sip of the thick and warm cocoa. The warmth and sweetness in her chest compared to the cool and glittering snowy night outside.. it was almost magical. It was the sort of thing that girly girls like her would coo and faun about as a perfect date.
Well... if it actually WERE a date. If things weren't so.. precariously strange between the two friends.
When she'd finished the cookie completely, Aurora turned her gaze once more to the sky, trying to pick out the few stars that were bright enough to be seen even through the lights. Maybe hers was up there? Maybe it's glow looked down on her fondly.. even if noone else did. When she finally spoke her words were polite and friendly, if not a little distant.-
"How has the beginning of your winter break been? Have you done anything exciting?"

Azzo chuckled as she munched the cookie. He was walking along side her looking down the street, his senses were for some reason or another kept sharp as normal. He often hated to leave his guard down. Specially when a monster could creep out from anywhere.
"It's.... well it's winter." He said a bit lamely, "Parents aren't coming from where ever they are across the seas so it'll be me and Grams." He shrugged, seeming indifferent about the fact, "Unless you know we have friends over." He added glancing towards Aurora.
His face twitched, "Besides the fact having done something on a whim and getting a bit hurt over it, nothing overly exciting has happened."
He paused, "Well asides from the usual." He added, "What with senshi and monsters and all kinds of other things running around Destiny it's hard to find anything exciting these days." He was trying to joke of course, the tone of his voice having changed from a possible tinge of heartbreak to a chuckle in a second... Though Azzo might very well be a poor actor, it's why he mans the puppets in the shows.

-She could certainly relate to the family thing. Had her family been a little smaller maybe then they could have visited. But as it was it would take like.. three hotel rooms. And then of course there was the farm chores. You couldn't just up and leave all the animals and work. So like Azzo Aurora was planning on being alone during her break.
Other girls in Crystal had gone home.. or went to spend the free weeks in the homes of their boyfriends, playing house and sharing snuggles in front of a fireplace.. christmas music filling the room. Ughhh.. every moment in her room that Rose wasn't there was becoming a nightmare.
His cryptic words drew a curious look from her, seeming to completely miss his totally true joke.- "Oh..?"
"You didn't do something silly like sky dive.. or try to stop a bummer did you?" -He looked in one piece to her. She was so torn up in her own egotistical lament it didn't dawn on her that the hurt might not be physical.-
