Amrita was so excited! This was the first time she had ever had someone in her dorm room! Well...first time to make plans for it. Lucien didn't count, clearly. In fact, even thinking his name made her head kind of hurt; she took a moment to grip her temples, willing the dull ache to go away. Nothing was going to ruin this! Noooothing. In her eagerness to make everything great, she'd cleaned her room. Sure it wasn't much to clean as Amrita had very few things and made very few messes (another thing that didn't count was the tree roots that pushed through the walls), but it was enough to make a difference.

When it came time, Rita shuffled her way outside, following the path that would take her to the Monster Dorms. Of course she didn't go all the way, the entire point was to meet at half; when she did stop at what she hoped to be the halfway point, she looked around. When she didn't immediately spot her friend, the little Vetala shuffled backwards to the side of the path, clambering down to sit back on her ankles with her feet making an impromptu chair back. Sitting up pretty straight and drumming her fingers on her knees, she waited; moving between glancing down the path, and staring blankly ahead of her, in her own little dream world.

--

Tahki was off to meet her friend Amrita. Not only that , the gryphon was getting the chance to see her friends dorm. Tahki had never been allowed to go over to other scarelings houses growing up so this was a big treat for the gryphon.

Tahki filled her beloved pets bowls with fear candy and was off. Proudly, Tahki walked down the monster dorms halls. She wanted to tell everyone what she was doing and where she was going but of couse the gryphon kept her mouth shut. Mostly because Tahki hated calling attention to her self.

Blissfully she wandered to the exit and toward the agreed meeting place. She could already see her undead friends twisty shadowy figure in the distance which mad Tahki all the more giddy. Tahki raised her hand and gave Amrita a huge welcoming wave. Tahki didn't care if anyone saw her acting all giddy and happy because Tahki was proud of her friend Amrita.

---

It was during one of those times when she was staring blankly ahead that Tahki showed up on the path. The wave was what caught her attention, and almost instantly her face (or at least what remained of it) lit up.

"Tahki!" Amrita called out, perhaps a little louder than she intended, and got to her feet as fast as she could. Black hair bouncing, the Vetala rushed forward to hug the Gryphon, not really caring who saw and even too excited to notice or care what she was doing. Of course with the height difference the childlike girl's face ended up against a stomach, but again, she didn't care.

"Hi!" She chirped happily, smiling brightly up at her light coloured buddy.

---

Tahkis face lit up when Amrita noticed her and even ran toward her and even when Amrita hugged her. She didn't feel strange that Amrita only came up about half way on her. The gryphon gave Amrita a pat on the head and smiled.

"Hey Amrita!" The gryphon wasn't sure what to do now. She couldn't hug Amrita because the hieght difference made it awkward and Amrita was already hugging her so she couldnt get down to her level.

Choco Choco gave a loud squawk from behind Tahki. Tahki looked behind her alarmed by the loud squawk. How the heck did he get out?

Choco Choco made him self at home by Tahkis feet. His bright blue eyes looked up expectantly at the two girls.

"Oh dear.." Was all Tahki could muster.

---

The pat on the head was perfectly good by her! She quite enjoyed them. It took her a moment, but she did realize that she was clinging to Tahki in public - not only public, but the middle of the road! The little Vetala released her friend just in time to hear the very loud squawk. Echoing it with a surprised cry of her own, Amrita awkwardly jumped to 'hide' behind Tahki's other side, staring down at the feathered thing.

"Wh-What is that?!" She sputtered out, clearly surprised and caught off guard.

---

Tahki wasn't too surprised by Amritas reaction. The gryphon was sure she'd have the same reaction if the situations were reversed. Choco Choco gave another cheerful cry and waddled happily over toward Amrita. The happy little bird was picked up before he could reach her and placed on Tahki's head for safe measure. Choco Choco loved perching on Tahki's headphones.

"Its alright." Tahki assured the undead girl, "He's harmless. He's a Choco Chocobo... named Choco Choco... Im not really sure how he managed to escape..." Tahki scratched her chin thoughtfully. She had made sure to close the door tight... maybe he'd slipped out after her before she had noticed. That was quite possible. Given free rain Choco Choco would follow Tahki every where on campus and out side of campus.

The ball of yellow feathers gave out a cheerful , "Kweeeeh."

---

Gray eye wide, Amrita stared at the thing as it happily waddled towards her...and even kept her attention on it as the creature was put onto Tahki's head. Woooow that was a high perch! What if it fell? Ohjack here's to hoping it was as used to falling as she was! She was all set to ask if Choco was a good fall-er like she was, but she never got the chance.

"Oh. He...uhh, Choco Choco, is cute?" Her head tilted. Yeah, he was cute, but she wasn't sure if it was nice to say that or not. Or if it would be appreciated. "Um..." The girl started, glancing down the path that would take them back to her own dorm. "Just...I have Demon Cat." There was a pause. "...And it can fly..." Yet another pause, before she finished what she wanted to say, albeit quietly. "Think he'll be okay? I don't...want him hurt."

---

Tahki gave a grin, "He can kinda glide.. not very well but its something."

Oh... Demon cat. Tahki had one of those too and it took a while before Aisha was trained to not eat Choco Choco. It probably was best to set the little yellow thing back home so that he didn't become lunch.

Choco Choco happily clung onto Tahkis head phones when she tried to lift him from his perch. The Choco Chocobo gave a loud and happy "KWEEEEEEEEEEH" as the gryphon struggled to pry her self free from its talons. Oh jack! She was stuck.

"Gaaah!" She cried trying to pull forcefully from the grasp of the little bird. It was no use. "He won't budge." She frowned. Did this mean that Tahki was going to part with her headphones?

---

"Oh. Well that's good!" Amrita nodded rather seriously. Gliding was perfect to the whole not falling hard thing. Falling hard hurt. Kind of. The Vetala continued to stare up at the chocobo creature, though by now she had released Tahki and had stepped away from her to give her space again. A smile split the remainder of the girl's face, followed very shortly by an amused giggle. Choco Choco looked so happy where he was! It was almost like they were playing a game, not trying to save his life. Snickering, Amrita covered her mouth with both of her reversed hands, palms outwards rather awkwardly.

"I-It's okay." She giggled, trying to contain her amusement, at least a little. "I'll...I'll find a way!" She promised, really not wanting her friend's pet to get hurt because her Cat was stupid. "Well...um...c'mon, then!" Managing to control her giggles, she stepped away again, took a moment to point herself in the right direction, and headed up the path to the undead dorms. The old, cold, and very creepy looking mansion.

"Mine's in the basement." She explained to Tahki. "And...it's very cold." Or so she's been told. She didn't quite notice it herself.

---

Tahki gave up on Choco Choco. The little ball of yellow feathers had won this round it seemed a nd he knew it with the smug look he wore as Tahki followed after Amrita. Well if Choco Choco had a good chance to survive if he clung to her head phones the whole visit.

"Im sorry. He's such a pest." The gryphon frowned some hoping Amrita wouldn't grow annoyed with her bird.

"Kweeeeh," Choco Choco gave a victorious chirp and made him self more comfitable.

Tahki felt the difference in tempature as the two girls decended to the basement. It wasn't so bad. Being an ice gryphon gave Tahki a little more tolerance to the cold. She'd be just at home in full gryphon form but the undead halls did not permit for her true form to comfortably navigate through. So humaniod form it was.

Choco Choco snuggled closer to Tahkis head for warmth. The little bird may have not thought this through all the way. Tahki gave a victorious grin at the little birds misery.

---

Amrita was far from annoyed; right now she was amused. Despite having been scared of the little thing when it first made its appearance known, she'd come to accept it. A friend of a friend was a friend of hers! Shyly tucking a piece of hair behind her ear, Rita smiled.

"Oh, it's okay, I don't think he's a pest." She promised with words, turning her head a bit to smile back at the Gryphon - and nearly tripping to the floor for her attempt. Luckily a hand shot out just in time to grab the wall, managing to steady herself before her body toppled. Whew! Laughing more than nervously now, the Vetala continued to move down further until the temperature was more in the negatives than anything, and pushed open the old, frigid door to her room.

It was...pretty empty. There was a small bed in the corner, perfectly made with patterned orange-yellow sheets; a well used desk, complete with a penstrictor and staplegator duking it out over the spot under the still on lamp. Oops, she forgot to turn that off! The bookbat was hiding in a drawer and the scisbird was perched on a fish tank on the floor, watching a doomfish swim in circles. Other than the roots breaking through the stone walls, it was pretty boring, dreary room. But more than that, Rita was on the lookout for two things in particular...

One of the two things let out a shriek of dismay, streaking across the two ghouls in an attempt to get away from the second very loud thing; a playfully hissing demon cat, hot on the poor golem's tail.

---

Tahkis eyes grew in wonder of her friends room. This was the first room she'd seen out side of rooms the belonged to her self and her family. Growing up Tahki had at least a dozen rooms to her self but no one to share her play spaces with. The Yuki family kept a close eye on the little fledgling when she was growing up. Tahki did not have a material want in the world but that didn't matter to her. Tahki wanted friendship and now that she had it she'd trade all her treasure to keep it.

"Wooooow," She whispered. Choco Choco echoed her sediments with a whispered "Kweeeeh."

There were loud sounds and Tahki's attention was now on the corner of the room where a Golem and a Demon Cat seemed to be playing. Was that the right phrase for what was happening? Choco Choco held on tightly to Tahki's head phones.

---

'Playing' was the term that the Demon Cat would have used, had it been able to talk; 'Endless Torture' would be the answer argued by the Mini Golem. Unfortunately for the Chocobo, Demon Cat's ears perked up and it sniffed the air; catching the scent of the feathered creature. Looking quite alert the feline's head twisted hard to look; for a moment the gaze narrowed in on the Chocobo...until it realized that it was perched on a stranger. A tall stranger, with big wings.

For now, the Chocobo had formidable defences, and the Demon Cat's narrowed gaze widened into an almost kitten like innocene, padding it's way over to sit at Tahki's feet, meowing at her. In part, it hoped that the new, big thing would just give it the feathered chewtoy to play with. Hoping.

Amrita had honestly been worried about what Tahki would think of her room; luckily she didn't need to worry! Sighing with relief, she gestured inside. "Um, it isn't much, but, make yourself at home?" She couldn't remember if she'd said that already or not, but it seemed possible that she had. The Vetala gaze her 'innocent' cat a hard, curious stare...but when it seemed to be pretty controlled, hesitantly gave it the benefit of the doubt.

"So, um, what should we do?" She'd never had a friend over before!

---

Tahki was also in the category of "never had a friend before". At least not a real one. Playmates sure, but all of those had been pre-picked for the gryphon and not of her own choosing. None of them had been terrible playmates. Just, none of them had truly wanted to be her friend. Now here was some one who saw value in her as a friend and Tahki wasn't going to let her down.

Though the question 'what do we do now?' stumped the gryphon. Where did they go from here? Her mind was quickly put at ease when Amrita's demon cat came up to say hello. Tahki, having a demon cat of her own, wasn't about to hand over Choco Choco as a plaything. Instead she offered a pat to the head.

"I'm not sure what to do," Tahki confessed, "We could work on some homework maybe together." Was that what friends did? That seemed awfully school related. "Or we could.. Lets see.. We could..." She blinked. "Amrita what do you want to do?"

---

Demon cat grudgingly purred at the headpat, but he did glare under the Gryphon's hand. So the big bird-thing wasn't going to hang over the fledgeling. Well, it had to lower it's guard at some point...and then...it would strike! But until then, it had to play nice. After the pat the creature seemed to get bored and instead decided to weave it's way through Amrita's legs, kneading it's claws on her feet in the most loving way.

Luckily, Amrita didn't really flinch; she was used to it, and the chill from the room made her feet too cold to feel most of it anyway.

The little Vetala stared up at Tahki, settling for staring instead of talking while she thought. Before school she didn't really have friends - there were other Vetala of course, but they were busy causing havoc and whatnot, messing with Humans by reanimating their dead. Before school, there was a lot of alone time, possessing things to try and when she failed she'd just wander. Of course she couldn't suggest possessing things as what she was possessing wasn't letting her go, and wandering seemed kind of counter productive to the whole come visit me thing.

"Umm...We could do homework." Amrita agreed, moving to sit on the floor near the bed, her reverse hands grabbing onto her big toes, even while Demon Cat crawled onto her lap for some nap time (much to Mini Golem's relief, who had taken the opportunity to go into hiding). "M-Maybe we could just...um, talk?" Talking was nice, she liked talking - never really had the chance to do that though, sadly. "...Maybe?"

Talk? The gryphons ears perked up. That actually wasn't a bad idea. Ghoul talk! The two could have their very own little ghoul talk. Only problem was Tahki wasn't really sure what ghouls talked about.

"I just beat Resident Good 87," Tahki smiled. "I beat it on hard! I was so surprised! The boss wasn't as tough as I was hoping.. They really should stop making sequels to that game series. Its kind of like how they keep making those Final Nightmare series. Some times they just need to know when to stop...." And the gamer rant began. Endless random information about what was up with this game series and why that game series was not as good as this one spilled out of the gryphons mouth for about ten minutes. Finally the gryphon took a breath only to continue a moment later.

"..And to think that they are already on their 20th sequel of kingdom heartless! When does the madness stop!? I mean not even all the games are on the same system its just so ... Jacked up!" Tahki covered her mouth... oh dear she had ranted.

"S-sorry Amrita... I guess I just kind of started talking and couldn't stop. I didn't even ask you if you played video games." Tahki twiddled her thumbs nervously.

Choco Choco watched the demon cat from the safety of Tahkis head for a moment before gliding down clumsily to The ground. Obviously Choco Choco was not the brightest of birds. The Chocobo decided he'd explore the new area starting with the doom fish swimming about. Tahki didn't have quite this interesting of a pet. She had a Scruffle and a Demon cat which were boring. This doom fish was obviously where it was at. Choco Choco gave a "Kweeeeh" of approval.

Tahki hadn't seemed to notice her little Choco Choco was loose.

The subject matter that Tahki had picked to talk about was something that went way over Amrita's head, though that certainly was not a tough thing to do. Not one bit! But Tahki was excited about it, and to be very honest the little Vetala was pretty interested! She had seen the consoles and games around at the Maul...it seemed so cool! Though she had no idea how it would work with her backwards hands and all. She never did think to give it a try!

"Never played before." Amrita answered, giggling lightly at Tahki's nervous little stop. "But I've always wanted to!" She informed her friend, playing with her cold, bruised toes. "I was never allowed, 'cause I had other things to do." Sighing, Amrita lifted a hand and waggled her finger in the air, at nothing in particular; her voice dropped as though mimicking someone.

"You have to get better!" She mimicked, but dropped her hand again to play with her toes. "So I studied...a lot. And I practiced a lot. But I'm getting better! Kind of. I'm a little stuck. But...better! So I think I want to try something fun when I can...like Video games, or practice Guitar...like, actually practice." Amrita didn't seem upset at her apparent lack of fun or excitement in her life. "Maybe not now though, I gotta stay focused!" Nodding her head in short determination, a thought hit her.

"...But...But I don't have to play all eighty-seven of them, do I?!" She asked, suddenly very, very worried. If she had to play Eighty-Seven games to catch up to Tahki, she'd never get there! Ever!

Demon Cat had been watching the Chocobo from Amrita's lap, and when the bird hopped off of it's big protector, the feline nonchalantly slipped off of her owner's person and set to stalking. It crawled on it's belly, wings folded tightly against it's back. It was playing super spy apparently, just stalking the creature, it's butt somewhat in the air.

Tahkis ears lowered slightly feeling bad having gone over a subject matter that was not very familiar to Amrita. That soon was forgotten though with the added ' Always wanted to '. Tahki could help in that department for sure with how many games and gaming systems she had. So despair disappeared quite quickly.

The discipline that her friend was discussing with her was no forgiener to Tahki. As a member of the Yuki family it often came upon the gryphons shoulders to be proper always and learn to keep her thoughts to her self. Being the prime example of a noble family was not always easy and as thus Tahki had turned into a shadow over time.

But now she was among students her own age and she was going to come out shining. At least Tahkis ultimate goal was to come out with a strong heart. She wanted to be strong so bad. So that she could protect Amrita and all her friends.

"N-No!" Tahki flailed a bit, "No of course not. You can pick up any where. Promise." The gryphoness smiled.

Choco Choco hadn't picked up that it was being stalked. The bird was to busy watching the doom fish to care.

"OH! Good!" Amrita sighed heavily with relief. It would have been terrible, just terrible, to have to play all eighty-seven of them! Her poor attention span...her poor hands! There also would have been a good chance she'd forget about everything else. It would be a shame to forget her name in favour of video games.

"Which one do you like best?" Amrita inquired happily, more than eager to find some more common ground between her and her friend. Of course she'd have to get a game system first, but if she ever did...it would be nice to know where to start. Something they could talk about, really!

"And wha----DEMON CAT." Amrita cried out, spotting the feline in a pouncing postiion, ready to go. Jolting, the cat turned his head to observe the Vetala, and then moved to sit down properly in the most nonchalant and blase way ever. Wings folding against it's back and tail curling around it's legs, it gazed at the chocobo, emitting a mrowl that could have been 'Hey, Sup?' had Demon cat been an english speaking gangster.

For now, it would be friends. But one day, neither would pay attention, and the fluffy yellow thing would be his.

Amritas positive reactions to the idea of gaming warmed Tahkis heart. At first Tahki had been a little worried that maybe Amrita didn't like her hobby. But now Amrita was showing interest in something Tahki liked and that made the gryphon happy.

"Well.. Its a toss up for me between 53 and 26... both are good but for different reasons..." And thus Tahki went on a long winded rant, "... and thats why 14 was only the third best ever..." The rant continued for a good long while, " ... but don't take it from me. You should play," And then Tahki realized just how long she had spent talking about nothing again. The gryphons cheeks flared red.

"A-amrita.. what sort of things do you like? ... I spent all this time .. uhh.." The gryphons golden eyes wandered else where. It wasn't til Amrita shouted at her demon cat pet did Tahki awaken from her silly doubt and realize that Choco Choco was no longer on her head.

"C-CHOCO CHOCO WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" The gryphoness got up quickly and retrieved the doom fish dazed bird.

"Kweeeeeh?" Was all Choco Choco had to say.

There she went again!

Amrita actually stared hard at her friend, trying to keep up. Fifty-six or twenty-three...no wait, fifty-three and twenty-six! Yes, that was how it went. But wait, 14? Which one was it where they adventured in the human food market? What was a veehickul? The poor Vetala was absolutely lost...but she kind of liked it! This wasn't a type of loss where she'd have to sit back and nod her head. No, she could play them and understand and talk with Tahki about it! "I want to! One day."

The question of what she liked was passed over for the time being, in her attempt to gave Choco Choco and Tahki's return attempt to save her doom fish. Not that she was worried about the doom fish, it seemed to be able to handle itself. She did not go to retrieve the feline, but she did look as apologetic as she could.

"I'm sorry...Demon Cat is...well, a Demon." Amrita sighed, poiting the tips of her bruised fingers together. Nobody had gotten hurt so it was safe to assume that everything was okay.

"Umm...But I like...reading? And...walking. Flowers...And...trees! I love trees." Was the Vetala boring? Kind of. A lot. "Umm...T-There's this legend of a Vetala named Baital that hung upside down from a tree in the middle of a crematorium and this Human King kept trying to take him for his powers and he always got away! He's my hero!" Well, Baital was captured once, but he technically got away then too, so it didn't count.

"So, trees are like...really cool to me...Because it reminds me of Baital..." It seemed a little lame to say out loud, but it was true. Baital was her hero; a Vetala's Vetala. A Legend. She aspired to be as brave as he was.
