Mouse scurried along..or at least attempted the act. It was a lot harder crouching down and moving without being seen when you an adult! She stopped to unsnare the end of her tail from a particularly thorny pricker bush and sighed. Her 'wrong' tail was always doing this, mostly because she held it away from her as if trying to distance herself from the appendage.

The mare moved forwards once the tail was free and peered over the top of the small hillock she had been cresting so she could see the lie of the land and maybe make her way across the next bit without having to scuttle if there was no one around.

She looked over the left first, squinting in the shadows that trees made, her ears flickering to catch sounds as did so. She couldn't see any signs of movement there, and so she shifted her position, taking care to lie as low as her body would allow and looked over towards the right this time.

Hooves like dusty onyx breezed by the light and wispy grass blades of the fields, before crunching against the cold soil of the wintered land. While snow had yet to blanket these lands, the season symptoms were easy to notice already. Chilly air, browning leaves and early nights were all apparent to the soquili who dwelled here, and some were even making trail to locate warmer lands. Manjii' just happened to be one of them.

Moving confidently with the knowledge of the local trails and his end destination in mind, the half-Troll strolled on with alert ears and eyes. Perhaps he'd run into some of his kindred along the way? That'd be a pleasant enough change, considering he'd already traveled some miles without another soul to speak to.

But that was all soon to unexpectedly change. Just as he was climbing the slope of a hill, he caught sight of some dark mound against the grass. And it was too smooth edged to be a boulder. Too vibrant to be a carcass. As he neared slowly and cautiously, Manjii quirked a brow to see if it was perhaps a carnivore. But no....it was another soquili! Kneeling dangerously low and scouting the lands ahead.

Curious but speechless to the odd situation, the male continued his trot casually, till he was nearly beside her. "I wouldn't stay in such a pose long, if I were you.Your limbs might cramp in the face of danger..."

Mouse let out a shrill noise in surprise, looking up at the one who had addressed her, her whole body shaking from nose to tail tip. He was a male, bigger than her and with a very strange mane that was decorated in gold metal.

Her terrible and wrong tail was tucked away, lest he see it and make fun of it or just walk away in disgust. After all, her angel guardian Seraphia was the only one who could stand being around her for any length of time (or so 'Phia had led her to believe).

'M-more likely to be jelly..' she managed to say, finding her voice finally. He hadn't left yet, so he hadn't seen her tail..if she could just get away with hiding it for the entire time he was there then maybe she would be okay.

Small ears flew back as the grounded mare let out a loud sound from being startled. Had he really been that invading, or was she just that skiddish? "Oy now, no worries. I'm not that danger I was speaking of. The name's Jumanjii." In any case, he took a few back steps to give the other soquili confidence in space. He simply wasn't used to seeing other equines lounging about on the ground, unless they were small Usdia or honestly injured.

This speculation made the male quirk his brow and glance the other over, only to find no injuries on her. And there seemed to be no enemy nearby to be wary of, unless his eyesight was failing him more than he realized.

"Jelly? Is that what ye call it." The male clicked his tongue as he debated the situation. "Either way, I'm fairly certain that the ground is chilled and uncomfortable to crawl on. Ya need help getting up Miss?"

'You sure?' she whispered, looking up at him. It was probably a stupid question and she cringed inwardly after asking it; after all a predator would say it was okay! But he hadn't lunged at her or anything so far, and his attitude and tone of voice had been kindly..well, that she could make out in her trembling state. Mouse tried to get a hold of herself.

The mare quickly shook her head at his question.

'Oh no, I can get up.' she replied. Of course she wouldn't accept his help! It was going to be hard enough concealing her unnatural appendage without him helping her. She attempted to sort out her hooves beneath her body having fallen slightly to one side when he had first spoke. She wriggled her tail under her body and lifting herself slightly managed to coil it tightly around a hind leg. And then she slowly stood, her head turned away from him in a submissive manner.

'It was a bit cold.' she admitted in a mumbling voice, keeping her tail curled around, the tuft of the leonine tail sitting oddly on her hoof.

The male gave a somber nod, taking her question honestly. 'Sides, she didn't seem like she was the type to take any humor that was teasing or misleading. "Well, that's encouragin' to hear. But I won't believe it till I see it." Afterall, he had played that card himself many a times, where he pretended to be well despite wounds or injuries. Might as well confirm that this mare wasn't playing that same game with him and that her legs truly weren't 'jelly'.

Quirking a brow to her lowly body language as she turned away, Manjii' decided it best to ignore it for the moment. Or maybe....was it because he forced her (in some minor way) to get up from her lounge? Was she that sensitive, or was he behaving that bossy?

Giving a soft grin as the other finally stood, the male swept his tail as if in cheer. "Not too bad. At least now I don't have ta worry about you getting attacked by raccoons. Or something." Manjii' cast his eyes back on the path he'd been walking, wondering if he'd bothered the mare enough now and should head on out. One ear flicked to her whispered comment, and the soquili gave a half-shrug. "I don't doubt ya there. Why, seems even your tail was chilled in that pose. If the air is cold enough to make my spine bristle, I can just imagine how freezing the packed earth is."

And just then the half-Troll shivered with a scoff. It became a bother, he realized, that with every shift or tilt of his jaw that his hair bangles would move. And with this season, the cold metal was a shocking sting to his ears each and every time. Ruffling his mane back with a shake, Manjii' tried to ease out from his distracted embarrassment.

"Oy, I never did catch your name. That is, unless you'd rather I call you ;Miss'."

For a moment, for a brief shining moment the thought that he was actually looking to see if her legs were jellified broke though the nerves and she even went so far as to raise her eyebrows at the stallion. But then she soon remembered that at any moment he would notice properly how she looked and she shrunk into herself again.

'Y-yes...cold tail.' Mouse said, confused now. Had he seen the wretched tail? Was he going to leave laughing at any moment or make mention of it?

'W-what?' her eyes widened as she backtracked to what he said, pushing her insecurities about herself.

'Raccoons?' she asked, looking with darting motions to her left and right. Raccoons attacked Soquili?
'T-that happens often?' she chattered, both cold and skittish now. Maybe this stallion would escort her home, he didn't seem bothered by anything.

'Mouse.' she said, replying without thinking to examine his question. She made herself look at him and actually found herself wondering about him. Where did he come from?

His ears flitted back as he gave a simple nod in reply. The other was likely holding her form so huddled for body heat, including the coiled tail. But the best he could dare remark on it without being imposing is if she was indeed chilled by the weather. Although that question was pushed aside as he tilted his head to her reaction of raccoons. "Hm? Well, not that I have ever seen. But who would know? Raccoons are known to be crazy lil creatures. Although I'm surprised if that is your biggest fear besides other things." Like true predators of the lands, both soquili and non.

"In any case, good ta know you weren't lying there injured. That takes a fair chip off my mind already." It took a moment of thinking before the male realized what the other soquili had whispered. Then another moment for him to realize that she wasn't comparing mice to raccoons, but....

"Oh, so that's your name, eh? Mouse.....are you pulling my tail? Or is that just a favored nickname?" 8o

'Everything is a big fear..' Mouse squeaked softly, like the animal she was named for. Her mother, bless her for not making a big issue out of the fact that despite being a strong and capable fighter herself had ended up with a daughter that was timid all the time had named her because of her initial size. Of course the name had wound up being fitting in more ways than one.

'I'm..I'm fine.' she said, shivering still from cold and a little fear still. He was bigger than her, and she was a terrible one for defending herself. Not that he'd come across as anything but nice but still - for her, if someone wasn't family or a firm friend she was always on guard. As much as a scaredy mare could be at any rate.

She shook her head.
'Name and - and, description.' she replied. And gave him a little look, her curiosity still there and coming to the surface again.
'Does your name mean anything?' she asked, attempting to sound comfortable and not squeaky nor foolish.

"Not necessarily. But to each their own." He shrugged his shoulders, reminding himself that everyone held some taste of fear in their lives. Such as his own towards frozen waters...but that was another subject all together. Huffing an annoying lock of orange from his face, the male glanced back at the other with a lifted brow.

"Well then, you'd best be on your way if you're fine. Winter will be sweepin in these lands soon, and I doubt ye'd want to lounge in the snow." Manjii' flicked his tail as he stepped away a bit, his heavy hooves testing the already poof soil below. He'd bet anything his mother was already on the move to warmer lands, but who knew about his troublesome brother. He'd be certain to keep his good eye open for that kin, in case he was still wandering in this area.

Tiny ears checked back as the other soquili spoke up, taking in the information she was sharing. "Oh? What an odd sense of humor. Not that I am teasing you or your family, no doubt! Just...not used to animal names." Though it was fascinating to consider, as she was petite and hushed as a mouse. "My name? It's a family thing, using certain sounds and letters from the Troll lineage. As far as it's meaning goes, I've never been told...but that's no trouble for me. Only a name, right?"

'For me it is.' Mouse said, still talking quietly as if trying not to draw attention to herself. Which given that she was in company was slightly foolish but she still did so. She'd really not ever stopped to think exactly why she was so timid, why everything new frightened her. All she knew was that sometimes she wished she was like her sisters. Or her mother.

'I'll be wintering in these parts.' she replied. She had family around here, and then of course there was Seraphia, well, even though she was meant to be Mouse's 'angel', she still didn't want to annoy her.

'I suppose, it's just a sight more interesting than my own.' she actually smiled a little, a tiny thing that erased the constant worried look on her face.
'My mother is Fox. Father is Lamb. And I have two sisters, Owl and Wolf.' she said, giving him the full uniqueness that was their family names.

If Manjii had paws like the mentioned raccoons, he'd have ruffled Mouse's hair kindly for having such bothersome fears. He couldn't imagine living that way himself, always halting and second guessing everything around him. "Really? Well then, if you ever find the core or reason for such thoughts, do tell." He wasn't going to force such a topic on the mare upon just meeting her. In the very least he could leave that potential open, giving the other some light of motivation to seek such answers. If she ever hoped to.

The other news brought as much surprise to Manjii, as he quirked his ears to her announcement of staying. Shrugging pale shoulders, he only nodded to her, believing that she had family to stay with. "Heh, so long as I don't return to stumble on ya crouched on the floor again. Right? Otherwise, I'm sure it's....tolerable to stick around in the winter seasons." Though the idea made him shiver just to think of the cold.

A pause, before the stallion blinked and gapped. "Oy, you weren't kidding when you said it was a family thing about names. Funny, I once knew a soquili named Fox. Quite the strong lady, she was."

'Yes? You'd want to know that?' Mouse wanted to know it herself, but it just seemed to be who she was. Her father was quiet. Her mother was a fearless warrior.

'Well, whenever I work that out..I-I'll find you. Maybe.' she realised that heading to look for the stallion would be the single most daring thing she had ever done, as she wouldn't know where to find him.

'Oh, no, I mean, you won't frighten me now.' she said, with something resembling a friendly smile. She shook her head.

'I really wasn't.' she tilted her head as he mentioned a strong lady that he'd met. There couldn't be two of them.

'A mare with intricate patterning? That's my mother.'

The male nodded casually to her reply, honestly curious about the origin of names. Was it a family lineage thing? Or maybe just the creative muses of a single parent that were a persistent theme?

"Really now? You can try, if ya be finding the energy too. I don't stay in one location for too long." Manjii merely shrugged, not intending to force or imply such an effort on the bashful individual. Besides, it was information that wasn't of any urgency to discover about. Returning her grin, the pale male walked forward, pacing slowly on purpose as he listened to the other speak.

"Really now?" Manjii quirked a brow as he glanced back at the mare, taking in her appearance. From the dark coat, short mane, and bedazzled torso, it left the male in utter surprise. "Fox is ye mother, you said? I'd never have guessed if untold."
