Recently I decided that slowly I am going to go Steampunk. (Ease my friends into it.) And I realized something... Other than some badass goggles and copper, brass, and metal colors... What does steampunk really involve? Does anyone know the best way to go around pulling it off? More importantly... Should I go for a pirate like Steampunk? Or a Adventurer? Or even just try to get it in with my normal black clothing? (Which is black to make people ******** off... It doesn't work unless I like shun the ******** outta them) So all in all... I am asking for help finding instructions on Steampunk clothing, and of coarse, if any of you wish... If you steampunk it out every now and then.. What do you do? What would you do? Please help me! It is either be a steampunk, be a kid who changes their style day in and out. Or *Shudder* Weiring more chains. (Which I can use for steampunk so I win! Right...?) For those of you who do not know what Steampunk is.. Go hereThank you~ : D

Jules Vern is usually the first author that comes to mind when I think "Steam Punk." Really, all steampunk is, is a 1800's/Industrial Revolution throwback. So anything with gears on it, spats, canes, bodices, pocket watches, top hats, widow's veils, garters, boots, lots of pearl buttons, fur (because it wasn't politically incorrect back then), leather, bolts, studs, gloves...all that jazz.
Some good movie and book references (that I enjoy) Steam Boy League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Sanctuary (the series, seasons 1 and 2) Polyanna Howel's Moving Castle
2000 leagues/journey (or voyage, can't remember) to the bottom of the sea Journey to the center of the earth Sherlock Holmes Diana Wynne Jones' Chrestomancy Series

Check closets and attics for: ruffled shirts, lacy accessories, chokers, boleros, curly hairpieces forn updos, ribbons, buckles, old time pocket watches, early 1900's hats, riveted clothing, seamed pantyhose, full ruffled skirts (you can hem them up shorter if you like), bloomers, and any inspiration you can get from anything Victorian era is fair game. Once you get things squared away, post some pics for us. xd
