There has always been dicussion on wether aliens have come down and helped humans build, and people use this to explain why ancient civilizations have build those large patterns into the ground you can only see in the air, and the one area in, I want to say Russia or somewhere in the Eurasia reigion, the long lines that stop and start in rnadom locations.
I believe that since the universe is infinitely vast that they should be another planet where they exist, but what are your views?

They may exist, but I'm pretty sure they haven't visited our planet.

If you're referring to all those History channel specials, I honestly don't see how most of that is much more than confirmation bias. 'I want to believe that we were visited by an otherworldly race and our societies especially formed.' At least, that's the attitude that seems to be prevalent from what I've seen, not much different from many forms of theistic belief. As far as I can tell it's another attempt to place the human race on a pedestal above all other forms of life on earth in the guise of something that would be more scientifically acceptable than outright claiming a deity shaped our societies.

I agree with Artto here.

Yes I was referring to the History Channel specials for the history part, but I'd still like to know wether you think somewhere they exist or not :0
I agree with what you're saying and I can't believe I haven't thought that, they may have built all those things for their gods so they could see them, until now.

I can't stand it when people look at human creations and automatically assume we were too stupid back then to build such things. It's ridiculous, we should stop taking the credit away from ourselves, away from humanity.

There is more to human knowledge that we have forgotten than we will ever find again.

I do not believe that aliens were necessary to explain the great wonders and mysteries of the world. Nasca lines have been proven to be related more to underground water than extraterrestrials. It was and is possible for stone aged people to build massive monuments aligned to the stars without the aide of extraterrestrials... The Discovery Channel should change its name to the Alternative Mythology Channel... All they ever do lately is "The world could not have come into being without the aide of Aliens" stories or "Your God cannot exist because I say so" stories. I really don't watch them much anymore.

I'm not saying I believe, but it is an interesting take on many of the ancient legends and stories- Beings coming down from the sky (Angels) teaching us arts we don't understand, telling us about the skies, surrounded by glowing lights and noise, and occasionally breeding with us?

I'm not saying it's plausible, but it's not that great of a leap to accept that as a possible explanation for the things these people saw.

I absolutely agree. I hate the whole "they weren't able to build such structures" mentality. razz

Do I believe in aliens, yes. Not only do I think it likely given the size of the universe, but the gods of my religion could be considered aliens themselves. Are they responsible for historical structures and events, well...I think they could have inspired those that built them in a similar way to how the Christian God supposedly inspired people to design and build cathedrals, but did not have a literal hand in their creation and design.

I agree Moth. Buildings thousands of years back were deeply influenced by gods. Like the Incan(?)/Mayan/Aztec temples they had, etc.
People built like that, I'm assuming, becuase they thought a temple or palce of worship like that would please the Gods.

It could be quite possible that at one point or another they had come and visited the Earth, they may not have landed but people may have seen them and it influenced one possible religion or another.

I am still undecided with those documentaries. The Egyptians could have recieved help, but they already came up with a theory on how the pyramids were built. And that theory is rather concrete. The flying chariots in some of the pictures from ancient times? They did a lot of drugs and drank so those could easily be hallucinations from that.

But I do believe there are aliens. However you want to call them, there is life out there somewhere. I do think that some race has been here. How do you explain those videos and pictures? They are not some secret scientific experiment. My husband would agree with that. He also knows that the government is hiding a lot so...

Pictures? Photoshop.
Videos? People have filmed random objects floating in the sky, and it looks like a spaceship. Experts have re-created these events and gotten the same results.
There are some, for example, like ones at night with lights that seem real, however with special effects it it possible to fake that.

Then what about first person encounters. My mom has seen the cliche light with a ring of lights around it and an ever changing line that was "dancing" in space. And don't you dare say something like hallucinations or anything.

No offense, your mother isn't really a valid source. :0
Unless someone else was with her it's like saying that you saw santa claus, hard to believe.
And it is a possiblility that she was if it was at night she may have been due to being tired, happens to me so I'm sure it happens to other people.
