WELCOME
A QUEST FOR A TEAPOT

This thread is a quest for a Renaissance Teapot plague,
and also features my keeper hopeful
Georgio Di Fusco
____________________________________________

Open for crits. Any and all would
be very much appreciated and loved.
Apologies that this is so horrible. I've
never been very good at these things,
so anything you could suggest to make
these two better characters would be
amazing.

[THE KEEPER]
GEORGIO Di FUSCO
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

XXXXXNAME
Georgio Di Fusco
Italian in origin. Georgio means "Earth Worker"
Easily answers to Gio, and usually prefers it to his full name.

XXXXXAGE
twenty-nine and some months

XXXXXREGION
Born and raised in ECARA
Immigrated into IMISUS with family in his mid-teens
Now lives in MISHKAN

XXXXXOCCUPATION
Potter/Mason/Clay worker.
He makes pots, cups, small decorative figurines, etc.
Usually works with red or white clay.

XXXXXFACTION IDEAS
Still fighting this one.
I was thinking of keeping him general, since he is just
a simple merchant. But it's not promoted, so I'm at a
loss as to what to do there. He obviously isn't smart
enough to be in the scientist guild, considering that,
while clever, he never finished a proper schooling. And
he isn't exactly religious enough to join the cult side
of the spectrum. Ideas on this would be cool.

XXXXXAPPEARANCE
Gio is a tall man of average build, his muscle built from years of work as a potter, not any excessive exercise aside from carrying crates to and from delivery points. His skin is weathered and his hands, large and made for both manual work and the careful detailing of his pottery, have callouses and old scars. Some would say he's handsome, a well defined face and expressive green eyes. Black hair is often spotted with forgotten bits of stray clay, but is almost always pulled back. His hair at the temples are peppering gray along with a few stray strands here and there. The early graying comes from his father's side. Rarely is he ever fully shaved. His clothing varies with the day and the occasion. Some are for special events, and he keeps valuable fabrics (of which he only owns a spare two or three pieces, kept in an old trunk as not to ruin them. Usually he's wearing a heavy leather apron to prevent wet clay or paint getting on anything important. Regardless of the passing day he does usually wear plain trousers tucked into calf-high work boots.

XXXXXPERSONALITY
Polite, kind, and a hard worker. Gio's mother burnt in his morals at a young age. Be polite and respectful of others and they will return the favor. Always help a lady. And work for everything you have and you will eventually get what you deserve. These are morals he follows without much deviation, though certain circumstances can get a rise out of him. With friends and family he's doting and attentive, many would even say he's a bit of a doormat. Affectionate when acceptable, he's a huger, not a hand-shaker, to put it at the most basic. He'll make you a hand-made gift for birthdays and Christmas (should Christmas exist here), he's made breakfast in bed for lovers before, and to his Plague (when she matures into an Excito) he's more a bumbling first-time father than a guardian or anything.

He cares for her and is terribly nervous that she's going to fall behind a cabinet, or eaten by a bird, or trampled. It's why he doesn't own pets. He frets and worries and panics easily about things he's meant to be personally responsible for. Have him watch your dog and he'll have a heart attack before the end of the week simply because he's consumed with the need to watch the dog to make sure it doesn't just up and die. This comes from a horrible experience with his mother's cat. While not directly his fault, the cat did eat a mouse while he wasn't watching, wasn't his fault that the mouse was sick with something that eventually killed the cat. It was still traumatic as a young boy charged with taking care of an animal that wasn't his own and he doesn't want it to happen again.

He isn't a push over regardless of his kind nature though. He's had his share of fistfights and isn't one to "turn the other cheek" when someone comes at him or those he holds close. And he curses like a drunken sailor, in Italian, but the hate sound the same, should he get annoyed enough. Though hard to do, knock into him when he's carrying a delivery without apologizing, breaking merchandise and refusing to pay/trade for them, etc. Just being a jerk will also get you some hefty insults.

XXXXXHISTORY
Born to a family of masons and potters, he was born to make things with his hands. Ecara was his original home, and the reason why he often curses in Italian instead of English. His father made pots and just about anything else out of clay, and was known for his detailed painting work. His mother was, like most women, a mother and a house-wife. She was a good mother, and the one that ingrained Georgio's kind nature and polite ways into him. As a young boy his life was far from interesting. He has the usual childhood fights and school lessons and everything else a young boy goes through. When he grew to about thirteen his introduction to the business his father was in. His grandfather insisted that the boy be a stone mason. "His hands should build this city, like mine did, and my father before him," were common words he heard when the family discussed his future when they thought he wasn't listening. Regardless, he loved his fathers work, and gladly took up the mantle.

When he turned fifteen the family moved to Panymium, Imisus to be specific. It was 1395. The move was more for his father, than the family itself. The trade was better, and after a couple years the family settled in a new shop, his father back to working for himself instead of for another man. When they first moved to the country they stayed with another family of stone masons until they got on their feet. During that time Georgio continued his apprenticeship to his father, improving his skills. Being the only child, his father took it very seriously, and Georgio, being a model son, continued it without much complaint. While smart, he didn't actually complete and entire proper schooling, instead just taking up the family business and making his father proud. All the while his mother was attempting to teach him how a proper gentleman should act, regardless of him being a working class boy instead of a man in the social status to be worthy of the title.

In the summer of 1399, the year before he turned twenty he moved to Mishkan, very curious about the innovation, and very interested in setting up his own pottery shop. He apprenticed to a mason in a town outside the capital until he saved up the money to buy his own shop with a kiln. ((Gonna leave it vague as to where he moved, cause I'm unsure if the capital seems logical, or affordable for that matter, for a young potter)) It was a curious ten years to the current date after that. The same year he moved to Mishkan, rumor to the Plague Doctor and the humanized plague started up, and some years later the closing of borders, preventing him from visiting his family, preventing him seeing his grieving father, but allowing the package of his deceased mother's teapots to make it to him shortly before the borders were officially closed.

XXXXXNAME/NICKNAME(s)
Bambina - Italian, meaning "Little Girl"
Easily responds to Bambi, or Bami

XXXXXGENDER
Female, very much so

XXXXXITEM HISTORY
Georgio's father was the man that taught him pottery. And he was always making tea-sets for his wife, Georgio's mother. When she passed away his father packed up all the teapots and teacups and plates and sent them west to his son, not being able to grieve and move on with them staring at him constantly.

When they arrived he cleaned them, shined them, and put most of them up in a cabinet to remember his mother by. A few pots were sold to women who found his father's work wonderful. A few more used for everyday use. There was one though, a pale yellow pot with navy detailing. Thought he'd been able to shine the outside, the inside held strange black stains, and a scent which, at first, he believed to just be the clay of the inside going stale. The tea made inside it though, never came out, the water turning black and curdling, so instead he set it aside, watching it on occasion, the strange stench growing by the days, a strange death and tea leaf scent. It remains carefully set on a shelf near his work benches. He often swears it's staring back at him. Though it's probably just his mind playing tricks on him.

XXXXXPERSONALITY
Once becoming an actual Excito Bambi will become rather attached to her Keeper Georgio, enjoying nothing more than sitting around on worktops to watch him work or hand over little tools. She loves to watch things being built, like an elaborate figurine from a hunk of red clay. This fuels a desire to take things apart to see how they were made, thought she never really gets far since she is so small. This general curiosity for things instead of people continues on into her Anhello stage. As an Anhello she will actually be interested in lessons in pottery from Georgio, and though she understands how to make things, she doesn't exactly have an artistic hand for it.

The center of attention is not the place she always wants to be. It may seem that way, but really she just wants praise and to know what everyone is doing all the time. She doesn't like to be left out of anything concerning her keeper or those she's made friends with. She's always willing to make new friends and can often seem pushy when she's pulling at any adornments close to her little hands or face. But she's honestly just curious about the make of small items. As she grows she'll actually start a small collection of seemingly useless little bits and bobbles that Georgio helps collect and find for her. This collection would include discarded or broken details of pots that break in the kiln at the shop, buttons, etc. Basically anything she can hold. As she progresses into an Anhello she will enjoy collecting things like cups or little animal figurines. She will also lose the slightly forceful nature of which she attempts to investigate things and people. She will instead ask for permission to view a ring, or offer a pleasant handshake.

Perhaps it is the fact that as a teapot she became used to heat and warmth. But she is attracted to warm spots and gets incredibly cranky when exposed to the cold or when left without a warm blanket to keep herself warm with in winter. Though it's rare, when cranky she talks back, doesn't answer when spoken to, ignores everyone with an icy ferocity and in extreme cases knock projects off the work table or shelf she happens to be perched on. As an Anhello she will still knock things off as a form of retaliation, but she will be better at simply avoiding everyone and locking herself in her room, once she gets one.

XXXXXCONCEPT IDEAS
❖ Soft colors like white, butter yellow, peach, etc. as base colors for her clothing, but keeping some of those rich-blue details from the teapot.

❖ Since Georgio is such a fail keeper and her clothes are actually going to be doll clothes as an Excito ((he tries by god, he tries)), it would be nice if they were a bit girly or lacy, to imitate a doily. (Those little lace circles you sit teacups on.)

❖ She's pretty fond of little doll knit hats. So I'd like her to have one of those if possible. ((Yes, it is a shameless "tea cosy" gag. Sue me.)) As an Anhello her hair should be short and curly, if nothing else this is about the only concrete idea I have for her Anhello stage. ((I understand that women usually had long hair back then, but I just have this picture of really cute curly short hair. I think it would fit her personality a bit more than long hair that needs a lot of upkeep))

❖ When and if she ever progresses to an Anhello, she will favor warm, almost wintery clothes. Vests, cute little lady jackets, tall stockings and boots, more knit hats, etc. But this isn't really a concrete design as it is a request given that she's got a thing for warm places and huddling under warm blankets and into warm pockets.

❖ Possible tekteks below? These aren't concrete details, they're just some fun I had in tektek. Tried to get the floofy sort-of-crazy doll clothes look for reference. Skin-color-coded to alignments, my favorite is the middle one, but I felt the need to explore other color schemes if I get accepted and the artist isn't fond of my choice in schemes. Feel free to ignore them TT u TT

XXXXXEXTRA INFO
❖ Just on the off chance that someone may think the teapot looks like a modern teapot instead of one in the 1400's, it's actually a Renaissance teapot from Poland. Or at least Google tells me it is.

[INTERESTING QUIRKS]
STUFF YOU DON'T NEED TO KNOW, BUT NOW YOU DO.

XXXXXHOMEY TIDBITS
❖ Bambi, once an Excito, actually sleeps in a large ceramic bowl. It's designed to hold water for washing one's hands/face, but instead it holds old pieces of fabric, like shirt sleeves, or thin blankets with a hole in them. Things that Georgio has no real use for, but they're clean and provide a nice warm, comfy spot for her to sleep in without getting lost or stepped on. The bowl is usually kept in front of a window in Georgio's room so he can be close to her should she need him in the night, and because the windows in his room face the side of the building that gets the most sun during the day.

❖ Georgio cannot sew. At all. In the least. To get the clothes he may need for Bambi, since she is so tiny, he often trades a local doll/toy maker his own wears in exchange for sets of dolls clothes that Bambi may enjoy.

❖ Before his home was graced with the pitter-patter of teeny tiny Excito feet, Georgio kept the windows open for fresh air, now he has an irrational fear that while sitting in her little window-bowl-bed, Bambi will be swooped up and eaten by a bird. So he keeps all windows of a room she happens to be in, closed, no matter how stuffy it happens to get.

XXXXXGEORGIO EXCLUSIVES
❖ He often forgets to eat meals, or just have meals that consist of slices of bread and cheese. Other times he could eat half a chicken on his own. Needless to say, his eating habits are far from normal.

❖ In nearly 30 years on this planet he has had a glass of wine or alcohol on two occasions. The birthday he became an adult (whichever age that is recognized in this world), and the day he received news of his mother's death. He didn't enjoy either occasion, and doesn't drink at all otherwise, opting instead for water or the rare glass of juiced fruit.

❖ ----

XXXXXBAMBINA EXCLUSIVES
❖ Often takes beads, buttons, discarded clay and other usually useless items to make her own little figures, using the leftover paint that collects on the tops of the tin-lids to paint them. But she often loses interest in them once she starts to make a new one.

❖ Likes to sit in sunny windows and stare at the world outside. She doesn't often get to go out since Georgio can't carry her in his pocket or in his hands all the time to all his deliveries. When she does get to go out with him to take orders or do a bit of light shopping on market days, she is safely tucked into the large pocket on the front of his work apron.

❖ Yes, yes she does indeed like tea of all kinds. She also likes tea-sets, mostly for the artistic value. It's pretty common to find her perched on an overturned teacup, or inside the teacup, just to keep herself out of the way.

[POSSESSIONS]
CAUSE GEORGIO HAS STUFF TOO

XXXXXSTUNTEDS
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
❖ A curious gift delivered at his doorstep. Has the same smell of the teapot in his workshop. He has a horrible feeling at it'll cause him more trouble than good.
----Whenever Georgio gets to be an actual P. Dr. character, this little guy isn't so much a "possession" as he is an unwanted house guest that runs around on table-tops when no one is watching.
