Dragonriders of Pern Shop GREEN CUSITH Lanky and large, green Cusith isn’t a dragon you are likely to forget any time soon. If not for her immense size (relatively speaking, of course, while she dwarfs other greens, she couldn’t hold a candle to a brown or a bronze), it is his peculiar personality that will leave a lasting impression. One of her most noticeable traits, in fact, is the way the green rarely seems to have a voice, but her presence is still keenly felt. Though it isn’t common Cusith adds to the conversation, and even less common that she actually starts it, she still takes interest in her surroundings. While she might not take part, she is well aware what is said and perhaps even more aware of what isn’t.
Her talent for body language is amazing. Cusith seems to pick up on dragon body language from birth, and while she isn’t without error, she’s usually quite perceptive. Humans take her a little longer to understand, especially when she’s young, but she doesn’t seem to ask questions unless she is truly perplexed. A smart dragon, she’d rather come to conclusions on her own, even if it takes her a little bit of time. Her intelligence is something she appears to value, though whether this is because she thinks it's important or her rider does is something only they know.
Because of her tendency to watch, Cusith seems to spend a lot of time "outside the action" so to speak. Though she isn't anti-social or shy, she seems to enjoy silence more than she does endless babble. Her answers, when addressed directly, are short, clear, and concise. The faster she can get to the point the better. Like her rider, the more Cusith does the hungrier she gets, and if she isn't careful she could easily gorge herself. As a hatchling, her rider would have had to monitor her diet quiet closely, lest she end up with thicktail.
When it comes to Flights, Cusith isn’t picky. To be quite frank, she really doesn’t care. Not romantic in the least, a Flight is a Flight to Cusith, and the finest dragon of the day will win. If her rider has an opinion, she is happy to oblige; Cusith rarely rails against her rider. She believes in a union and will support her rider’s decision, even if she does so silently. She does not need to make a big fuss to be heard. WHY ME? Naia's presence is what attracted Cusith in the first place. Being Harper-bred lends a person a certain way of carrying themselves, and this green was definitely looking for someone who understood that. Cusith was further drawn in by conciseness and sharpness of mind, something that she could easily appreciate. While Naia may not think twice about talking down to others, perhaps her dragon could teach her to be more mindful of the feelings of others, which Cusith can more easily ready.

Cusith is based off of the ...
Cu Sith
The Cù Sìth of Scottish mythology is an enormous, otherworldly hound, said to haunt the Scottish Highlands. Roughly the size of a cow or large calf, the Cù Sìth was said to be dark green in color with shaggy fur and a long braided or curled tail. In Irish mythology the Cù Sìth was said to be an immense, coal black hound with glowing or flaming eyes. The Cù Sìth was feared as a harbinger of death and would appear to bear away the soul of a person to the afterlife (similar to the manner of the Grim Reaper).
According to legend, the creature was capable of hunting silently, but would occasionally let out three terrifying barks that could be heard for long distances, including by ships at sea. This was said to be a warning to farmers to lock up their women, lest the beast abduct them and take them to a fairy mound (Scottish Gaelic, sìthean ) to supply milk for fairy (daoine-sìth) children.
Cù Sìth literally means 'fairy dog.' Supernatural dogs in Celtic myths are usually completely black, or white with red ears. The Cù Sìth's coloration is therefore highly unusual, although it may be derived from the green color often worn by Celtic fairies. When men heard its howl, they would lock up their women.
