User Image She nodded a little, still looking really sad. "Okay.." She got up slowly, watching him. "Apparition?"

User Image He got up. As she said, "Apparition?" he was gently brushing some dust off his mane with one paw.

He looked over at her, fearful curiosity in his eyes, "... Yes?"

She hadn't changed her mind, had she?

She moved a little closer to him, studying him. She could tell he was still upset about something. She frowned a little and then tried to give him a reassuring smile. It looked awkward on her though, and came across more creepy than anything. "What did you say your name was?"

That smile set off every warning bell Chane had. She'd flipped back. She'd flipped back! His mind blanked and he stared at her, barely blinking.

"You..." wait. She wanted his name? She'd never asked him that with such a serious tone before. Still, he took a step back.

"My name is Chane..."

"Chane?" She repeated it as if chewing on it, trying to see how it sounded in her mouth. "Chane. I like that."

She reached out to nose at him, then smiled wide and turned to head off. "Are we still going hunting?"

He stood his ground when she approached, not sure if fleeing would offend her or not. From what he'd learned from her... she probably wouldn't notice.

When she touched him his heart skipped a beat. When she turned away he could only watch. Wha... What was that? What had she done just then? He shook his head.

"Yeah. Yeah, lets go hunting."

"Where do you want to go hunting, App-I mean, Chane. Were would you like to go?" She turned to look at him, still smiling, much less creepy now.

Ever so slowly he moved up beside her. "Well..." he said, being sure to keep from touching her, "have you ever tried to take down a zebra?"

He wasn't sure they would be able to do it, just the two of them. But it was worth a try. A zebra for two would be a real feast.

She shook her head. "They're too fast for me," she said sadly, shaking her head. "They look so yummy though, with their stripes."

He nodded, and turned to look out over the plains, wondering what small creatures they would be able to take down... him with his limp and her without a single sensible thought to speak of.

"Neither can I. Can you catch a rabbit?"

"Rabbits? Yes! I eat rabbits all the time. They're hoppy." She grinned at him, her tail wagging.

"I think we could catch a few of those," he was getting so tired of eatting rabbits. "They're not too hard."

She tilted her head at him. "No, they're not. But you don't seem to want rabbits?"

"I'm not so picky that I'd turn down an easy meal," he said, giving her a soft smile. "Maybe we'll be able to hunt something larger another time. With my leg being as it is though I'm afraid I wouldn't be much help in a long or fast chase..."

She nodded a little, looking down at his leg. "Does it hurt?"

Chane lifted his paw, "No. Not enough to complain about anyways. It's just stiff and weak... That's all."

She nodded a little, eyes locked on the paw. "It looks like it hurt."

"It did, when it happened," Chane sighed. "It hurt for a very, very long time after it happened. I couldn't even put weight on it. But... It got better. I've heared so many bad things about humans but I'm so thankfull for the help they gave me back then."

He smiled at her, "I think there's a warren nearby, if it's no different to you."

She listened closely, her eyes never leaving his paw as he told her his story. She didn't know much about humans, and even if she did, she probably would have just passed them off as figments of her imagination like everything else.

When he changed the topic, she looked up at him and nodded. "Yeah, rabbits sound good to me. Maybe we can catch a lot of them!"

He laughed at that, a rare thing for him. It wasn't that he was unhappy, it was just a rare thing for him to have anything to laugh about.

"Five each, a real rabbit feast!" he said, gesturing for her to follow behind him. "I spotted them a few days ago while I was checking out that herd of zebra that has been passing."

She nodded enthusiastically and followed after him, a bounce in her step. "Five rabbits is a lot," she grinned, her tail swishing happily behind her. "I've never had more than one or two before!" As completely out there as she was, she often found herself forgetting what she was doing in the middle of a hunt. She'd never eaten anything much bigger than a rabbit. Welll, except for that time she scared a hyena away from the carcass of a small deer, but that hadn't exactly been her hunt... It didn't coutn.

He smiled. She was pretty when she was happy.

"Me neither. I've had help catching some larger game but these small things are all I can manage on my own," he fell quiet and gestured for her to go quiet too.

"Do you see all the holes? All the rabbits probably hid when they saw us coming. How do you think we could get them out?"
