It was the final day of the council, and despite Taith’s previous insistence that she would be able to hold out until they all returned home, her biological clock had decided otherwise. The green’s hide was glowing quite brilliantly by now and her eyes whirled an intense purple. Unless you wish to blind everyone here at the council, I would suggest you get going, Keela remarked to her partner, amused by the fact that her partner still seemed to be trying to hold out despite the more than obvious signs that it was time. May as well invoke her competitive spirit in a different way. Show them all how Benden dragons fly. She was more than ready for it as well.
That was all the encouragement that Taith needed, and a dragonic shriek tore through the air as she dove upon the feeding grounds, catching and blooding her kill. She let out a bugle of challenge to all of those around before taking off into the air. Let any males just see if they could catch her!
Reminder! [copy-pasted from Rown and Shimy]
Green Taith is a large green, so she will be rolling 4 dice ( d20 )
Blue Lerath will roll 2 dice ( d20 ) Brown Milnth will roll 3 dice ( d20 ) Brown Brumath will roll 3 dice ( d20 ) Bronze Pipith will roll 4 dice ( d20 )
The posting order will be Taith, then whichever dragon enters the RP first. After that will be the second dragon, the third dragon, etc, and then Taith once more.
You must match all the numbers rolled by Taith ( 13, 18, 20, 7 ) to successfully catch her. The option for an after-Flight RP is allowed and encouraged, but not required.
Have fun, and take to the skies!

Another Flight, another chance! Not so impressive as a gold's, of course, but Pipith would take anything he could get, especially after that particular failure. He hadn't caught the Queen - that time - but he could certainly catch a green! Answering her bugle with one of his own, the bronze leapt into the air after the Benden dragon.
Surely this one, at least, would be his! He didn't bother to consult with his rider, he just went. There was never any talking the bronze out of chasing.

V’al paused midstride. What are you doing?
Lerath, having just caught the sound of green Taith taking flight, had not done anything yet. He’d frozen, tensely thinking, but when his rider’s question came his mind had been made up. With a bright roar he answered and launched himself skyward. A few short moments later he was at the feeding grounds, circling for a good place to watch the green from.
V’al was dashing for the feeding grounds. He tried rousing his dragon with other questions, but the blue wasn’t answering. Wasn’t Lerath young for this? He’d yet to chase anything yet, why now, why here, and why… against so many larger colors? He stared, half aghast as Lerath settled in relatively close to a bronze, likely one of the many that had failed to catch the gold that had risen before. He frowned worriedly but stopped pestering His. Lerath would have a better chance of not getting injured in the jostle without his rider trying to dissuade him.

(The remaining registered dragons may still join in later if they so wish, but they will be behind in the flight.)
Oooo, was that a bronze among the contenders? Very nice. Taith was quite satisfied by the variety of colors chasing after her. Of course, that didn't mean she was any more inclined to go easy on them. The green let out another bugle as she flew, taunting her pursuers as she rose higher and higher into the sky. She wanted room for when the game got more serious.

Lerath watched the shining figure of the green, wings rustling at her every twitch with eagerness to prove himself. When she tired of her blooding he kept an answering roar to himself, though his heart cried with it, and leapt after her, breaking wing at the peak of his bound. He needed every bit of height his lightness would afford, every breath to catch her. He was fully grown now, but not as mature or deft at chasing as the mature males. Wings pumping, he chased, silently insulted that some of the larger dragons were already outpacing him. A defiant rumble rose in his throat and he pushed his wings harder.

To say Milnth was annoyed with B'nas was an understatement, he'd promised Taith he'd be the first to chase her but because his foolish Rider had to go out of the weyr on ... 'personal business' it had made him late, they had arrived at back at the Weyr to see the flight already in progress.
Roaring his frustration at B'nas, he shot off into the sky the second his rider had left his back. "Taith! I come!" He bellowed, flying hard behind the pack of chasing dragons.
*edit for roll* he caught up to the shining green easily, but there were others just as close, he briefly wondered if he should emulate Galvanth in the Queen's flight, but there was time yet, no need to resort to that ... just yet.

Ha! First in the air, and close for a moment! But greens were fast, and he was going to need to - ugh, there was a brown gaining on him a little! Stupid brown, get back! All but ignoring the blue, Pipith flew on after the female with a powerful sweep of his wings.

That bronze was starting to get a bit too close for her liking. Not yet ready to give up the chase, Taith made a sharp turn on wing tip, spiraling down briefly in a tight barrel-roll to gain some additional speed before snapping her wings back open again. Let's see any of the males try to follow that stunt!

Too close? There was no such thing! Not when you were the one chasing, anyway. But the green was clever, and more agile than he; that barrel roll of hers was difficult to follow, and he fell behind a bit . There were some disadvantages to being large, even if he wasn't as large as most others of his color. Pipith roared, frustrated by the maneuver.

Milnth recognised the small bronze from the Gold's flight and bellowed a challenge, beating his wings harder as he could see the bronze gaining on the green, he strove to get nearer, and lashed his tail out at the bronze, after all this green liked a bit of aggression it seemed.
*edit for roll* THERE, he'd gained a little on the green, whether or not his tail lash was the cause, or just his determination, he didn't care, what mattered was that he was closing in on Taith.

Brumath had been half asleep when the green cried her challange to the skies, and as such found himself a good way behind the pack by the time he managed to get into the air. He wasn't about to give up, however, and strained his wings to gain on them. Soon to leave here. Soon to return to Benden. One last show for the forigners. One last chase before the world rushed down a foolish path.

Lerath pumped his wings furiously. He was falling behind. Too young, too small, too untried perhaps. From a distance he mimicked Taith’s rolling dive perfectly, but the crosswinds he landed himself in were not a favor and he put himself no further ahead. Lesson learned: remember the thermals you’re pacing through. Was it too late for the lesson to do any good though?

The bronze had been successfully thrown off a bit by the manuever, but in his place Milnth was beginning to catch up. She trumpted to them both, egging them on as she showed off with another twist through the air. They had a ways to go yet before they could even hope to try to catch her. So she thought anyway.

Milnth was pleased, Taith's tricky move had thrown Pipth off, giving way for him to catch her up, He gave a mental smile and pumped his wings hard, she was fast yes but he had more stamina, and maybe more determiation to catch her.
*edit for roll* HA! he was closing in on her, if he was lucky he would catch her .. and soon.
