because of the extreme variety of 1911s on the market, and because the guild needed a thread for them.
this is a place to discuss everything 1911
so GGE, post up what your favorite / ideal one would be.
as well as 1911's that you have or may have your eyes set on or just find interesting or unique.
this coming new year that approaches will make it 100 years since this special pistol's adoption into the US.mil

I'd love to get an original Colt M1911, but I'd be just as happy to get a Springfield or S&W model as well. Hell, I'd settle for any M1911 model, so long as it's not that ******** DEagle-brand M1911. I refuse to buy anything Magnum Research has sullied.

<******** yeah Dan Wesson. Also, you missed Taurus. I've seen good things done with their 1911's also: Personally, I'd never buy a Nighthawk. I mean, ******** seriously, what justifies a Nighthawk being a $3000 gun when Kimber sits comfortably on the $1000 mark?

I watched some vids of them and saw a review just now. they seem like a decent pistol for the money. http://www.gunblast.com/DesertEagle1911.htm

L.A.R. Grizzly Mk 1 Long Slide in .357 Magnum that's my dream 1911.
A weak enough cartridge to where I don't have to change the return spring every 1000 rounds.

Why not a Para in .38 Super? It's easily a more effective round (bridging the .38/.357 gap), and it's one actually made to be used in an autopistol.

Recon_Ninja_985 looking at an S&W 1911PD opinions / objections about this pistol? Price. For that kind of price, get a Kimber and regret nothing. Also, Remington has a new 1911, and given Remington's history of Colt copies, I'm enthusiastic. And for $700, I think it's a pretty good deal.

You're going to combat a .38 Super to a .357 Magnum? Notice my longslide statement and then look at the .357 magnum statement in my post. Why do you think I picked it out? Seriously you think a .38 super longslide compares to a .357 magnum longslide?
