Braum felt immediately at ease as he entered the aviary. Ah, there was truly no better place than this. Lots of birds, and winged creatures, the calls of his feathered brethren screeching and squawking, some even chirping and singing like domesticated breeds often do. As soon as they entered, Braum lifted his wing from behind Hadiyya, and let his hand slide off from Junko's back, happy to be among feathered friends. He spread his wings as far as their span could go, and flapped twice powerfully, lifting himself off the ground and then shooting himself up towards a nest that was higher up in the rafters. His spoiler hadn't learned to fly yet and Socrates, his ghostly inclined owlkin, couldn't hold onto physical food long enough to get it to the little chick or help it fly down. Braum's face softened as he saw the little spoiler curled up in its nest, with Socrates snoozing next to it. The ghost couldn't give the little fledgling warmth or food, but it seemed to give its little companion comfort.

Blowing into the ear of his owl, he chuckled as the ghost snapped awake and gave him a disgruntled look, then scooped up the little spoiler, whom only cooed its groggy confusion before realizing the warm hand belonged to Braumithras, and happily crawled into his pocket until Daddy flew him to the ground. Gliding gently back down to the girls, followed by his ghostly pet, he landed gracefully and strode over to them, still tightly cradling his pumpkin. Socrates glided over to Hadiyya's shoulder and perched there, craning his neck this way and that to inspect the pumpkin. Archimedes, the tiny black spoiler, simply popped his head out of Braum's pocket and crawled over his arms to sit on top of the pumpkin there, looking down at it and licking it once to determine it it was friend, foe, or food.

Hearing the sharp 'caw' of disapproval from Braum, Archie decided it must not be food, and eyed it warily as he scurried up his master's shoulder and climbed to rest on top of it. It was COMPETITION for daddy's affection, he decided. He did not like this, and chirruped his disapproval. Braum chuckled, since the little fledgling's "avian" was still not fully developed and the words came out a little strangely, but he got the jist of his little one's speech. He wanted to give the pumpkin back, he didn't need another sibling. Patting its head softly, he looked to the girls, eying Junko in such a way that implored her "do not tell anyone of this" way. Looking away almost bashfully, a strange occurrence for him since he was almost always confidant in himself, he trained his eyes to the spoiler, whom was all but happy to steal daddy's attention away from Socrates and the new pumpkin-thing.

The verdict still rang in her ears, she was condemed to work with Braum over the project and already from claiming the child, to naming it, he was running the show. His 'invitation' came across more like a demand, or even a pathetic attempt at trying to seem pleasant for the sake of getting Cricket to leave them both alone.

For Sammy the aviary was neither good nor bad, she personally didn't have any winged pets. Actually the only pet she really has recently was her Scareon Ixxy who was probably right now flopped over onto one of the many boxes in her room eagerly awaiting her return. Trailing behind the other three she glanced around the aviary and did find herself admiring the whole thing... minus the demon who's wings blotted out the view. The idea that she would be seeing him outside of class was far from appealing.

And so she lingered behind the trio looking off to the side while trying not to look horribly pissed about the whole situation.

The wing curled around her back was a welcome weight as she let the Raum lead her and the other two ghouls towards the familiar heights of the aviary. She'd spent her far share of time there, despite lacking many winged pets or wings herself. She couldn't boast of any avian blood, but she had a crow demon for a best friend, and he quite liked the place. She didn't speak as they walked, have no opinion on their destination, but instead hummed softly tot he pumpkin in her arms, smiling serenely at the gourd as if it were in fact a real babe.

She'd kept tossing bright little smiles at Junko as they moved, encouraging and friendly. Not wishing for her partner to feel left out. Sam, despite their differences and Yaya's complete inability to fathom why the undead detested her so, had even been offered a little smile. Though it was more sympathetic, or perhaps just thoughtful. One couldn't be completely sure.

As they reached the aviary and Braum slipped away, the marid moved to stand a little closer to Junko. Not -quite- invading the hell out of her personal space, but damn close. It wasn't an issue of attractions, Hadiyya simply lacked any concept of personal space. She was, by nature, very clingy and touchy feely, with everybody. She did tip her chin up to watch the Raum as he rose towards the nests, watching for the spectral wings of the ghost owl to peek along the rim before He, and his master, both flew back down to him. She'd half expected Socrates to settle on Braum's shoulder as well, but he chose her instead, and lifted a hand automatically to stroke fingers down his glowing back. "Hello again." It wasn't just the Raum that held her fancy, it seemed the water djinn held a soft spot for all avian creatures.

Peeking around the body o the owl, Hadiyya turned enough so Junko and Sam could both have a proper look at him. "This is Socrates, one of Braum's companions. The little one is Archimedes." She gave the owl a tiny prod. "Say hello to Junko and Samantha, Socrates." Ever the polite demon.

The smile from Hadiyya caught Sammy somewhat off guard. She couldn't say what it showed though her mind suspected it held some sort of pity. For what though Sammy couldn't begin to guess so she simply nodded in turn to the other girl and had continued to remain as impartial to the whole situation as best she could only breaking from this to look at the owl in question.

Till now she had never seen one up close, Siddie had Schinks, and herself a Scareon, but never an owl. "Can't say I've ever seen one so close, I've never been one for birds, the poor things would be more miserable then I am if they had to share my basement dorm... but I suppose they would tell me to keep it here instead." Glancing to the side she took note of the view from building grumbling, "The birds get a better view then we do..."

Braum sniffed at Sammy's comments, but in the spirit of keeping things cordial, played along with Yaa's insistence to be polite to her. Besides, he wasn't QUITE sure how to broach the subject at hand at the moment. He'd come up with an idea on how, that was sure, but talking about avians for now was a much more natural subject. It was something he shined in, and loved to educate others about. There was nothing more beautiful than the subtle grace of birds. Placing his pumpkin in a large, grounded nest where students could nap if they were inclined to do so (he himself had slept there numerous times with the birds, especially when Archie had first hatched), safe and sound, and walked up to Socrates, scratching the feathers of his chest, to which the owl crooned.

Upon Yaya's introduction of him, Socrates stuck his wing out to one side and gave a mighty 'scree' of greeting. He could tell that Braum was uncomfortable, and so shifted from one foot to another, nibbling Hadiyaa's hair while keeping a watchful eye on his master and the new people. Archie, having no such suspicions about others, and mostly focused on how the pumpkin was stealing his papa, chirruped his greeting to the others and slid down Braum's arm to settle in his pocket, his head sticking out. Leaning on the windowframe, Braum made sure he wasn't looking at or REALLY acknowledging Samantha, but was still answering her questions.

"It's not mandatory to keep your birds here......they simply prefer being in flocks, and having quick access to outdoors. And yes. They get a wonderful view, but this building is open practically all hours, to all students. The birds do enjoy company as long as you bring a few seeds or some meat with you,"
he drawled, his speech making Archie remember he was in fact hungry, and it was time for Daddy to cough up some food. Clawing at his pocket, the little Spoiler trilled to get Braum's attention. The raum smiled down at him, forgetting he had three females in the room, two of which were not close enough to see him be so openly gentle with a creature. Fishing out some remnants of a discarded jollymeal, he fed it to the little bird, and it happily retreated with its burger into Braum's pocket.

Junko was somewhat surprised to find she was being guided out with Yaya and Braum, and kind-of-sort-of-Sammy...she was grateful to be out of the sex ed class but she was still surprised. The only demon Junko had ever socialized with was Sin, but she was so nice! So maybe all those stories about demons being total racist snobs was all an exaggeration? Or something. Nevertheless she happily followed alongside them, letting Yaya carry their baby while she tried to think of an answer for her. She'd...never named a baby before! And Yaya wanted suggestions from her so she had to think hard on this, eying it quietly as they walked. It was a pumpkin, it was orange. Maybe...orange? "Daidaiiro would be a nice name, I think. Or just Daidaii. What do you suggest, Yaya?" She chirped to her partner, looking more and more excited the longer this went on. This class hadn't been so bad after all! Junko was making new friends, she was going to get a good grade, but mostly she was making more new friends! That was all that mattered. Grades are totally overrated. Junko was, of course, open to any suggestions Yaya may have to offer and was fine with compromising if they had trouble deciding on a name; She was remaining quiet for some reason, it was starting to worry Junko. Why was She so quiet? Was She waiting for the most inopportune moment to interrupt and make all three of them hate her and think her a freak? Ugh. Whyyy?

Junko blinked, watching Braum leave them to attend to a nest higher up in the aviary. She'd never been here before! Junko had no flying pets so she had no reason to ever come in here, and She tended to scare off any birds that fluttered near her. It was quite bothersome. Because of this she stared around the aviary in awe, her mouth hanging open somewhat. Wow! It...kind of stank but wow! This was incredibly! She could hear some of them singing amongst the squeaks and calls and screeches, giggling and looking around to try and find their sources until she saw Braum's little antics with his own birds, giggling softly and pressing her fingers to her lips as he returned and gave her the 'not a word leaves this room!' look. "We won't tell, we promise." She didn't seem to realize saying 'we' when neither Braum nor Yaya seemed to realize she wasn't exactly alone would make her sound a wee bit crazy. Oops. Well, if questioned she'd have to explain. Junko's gaze turned to Yaya when the owl was held out for her to see and both of the birds were introduced to her and Sammy, giggling and reaching out carefully to pet him if he allowed it.

"How cute! I don't have any birds, I have a couple cats..and the most adorable little foxes! They're very lovely, Braum." She had a few other pets, but those were her favorites. Yes, Junko had favorites. She looked to Sammy standing off to the side all by herself, suddenly feeling rather awkward. She and Braum didn't get along, right? It was clear in class and it was clear now even if one hadn't been in the class at all when they argued, there was so much tension! How were they going to work out this project? Surely they'd have to learn how to be at least civil with one another, right? "So um..." Now what? They were here, they had their babies...what next?

She was impressed, Braum responded to her, and still managed to casually ignore her at the same time. She didn't say anything in regards to the fact that he didn't seem to even look at her or talk to her rather just casually dropping a response to her like a teacher lecturing a student. Something that would not sit well with her if he continued to do so. "I may have to come back once in a while then. It's better then staying in the dorms all day I guess." Her voice was flat, not exactly mad, or happy, just plain and dull as she continued to linger around.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 28, 2010 4:42 pm

Yaya laughed softly at Socrates' scree. "He's such a polite bird." She gave him another fond stroke as he nibbled the loops of her hair before turning her attention to Junko. She hadn't meant to make the other feel she was being ignored. "Daidaii is an adorable name. I think it's very fitting, so my vote will go to that." The gourd in question was shifted a bit in her grip from one arm to the other.

She held her tongue for a moment or two as Bruam gave his explination of the aviary to Samantha, or at least to her inqury, if not directly to her. He didn't seem to be acknowledging her at all, though she supposed it was large step up from desiring her death. At least the fighting hadn't started again. The animosity was.. confusing. She couldn't understand the undead's resentment towards her personally.

She watched the both of them warily. Shifting a bit to the side so the line of her hip touched that of the monster ghoul's beside her. The tension was beginning to get to her. "What shall we do with our lovely babies now?"

"Honestly I don't know, I was sort of just... tagged along." She turned to Braum, "So what is your plan then? We got stuck with this, and you've already seemed to name the pumpkin, what was it you were calling it?" While she wasn't letting it get to her voice her face clearly showed a slight distaste at how quick Braum had named the pumpkin, but so be it, he moved first.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 01, 2010 8:48 pm

Braum sniffed in displeasure. What kind of mother forgot their baby's name? Of course, this only proved to him even more so that Samantha was completely wrong for the position, and he was completely intending to do something about it. Flaring his wings so that they rested along the circled edge of the nest he was lounging in, he held the pumpkin in his lap fondly, stroking the top of it absentmindedly while staring all three girls down. It was obvious he was not going to take any flack for his decision, which he found, quite honestly, to be a good compromise. Neither of them would have to work together, and each of the babies would probably turn out much better and well cared for, thus earning all four of them better grades. Scooping up Archamedies from his pocket and setting him on his lap with the pumpkin, he pet the little spoiler as he nodded softly to himself, as if finalizing the decision in his brain before choosing his words.

"His NAME is Aerrue.
As for what I called you all here for........I think it would be most beneficial if we switched partners for the duration of the project, and turned them in as our original pairs.

Miss Junko......I can attest personally that while Yaya is very sweet and mild mannered, she can be quite forgetful, and is more likely to place the baby outside the door to regain her peace and quiet so she can sleep. Which she does quite a lot, and probably needs, to be honest, her type of magic is very draining.

The carrion and I cannot get along to save our lives, and I absolutely refuse to have any child of mine raised by her, so we would constantly be at odds. That would only make the baby suffer, and thus lower our grade, I'm sure.

So my proposal works for everyone really. We simply raise the children apart from one another, and at the last minute switch mommies to turn them back in. Samantha would turn ours in with me, and Hadiyaa would turn in hers with Miss Junko. It's a win-win situation,"
he encouraged, practically hissing out Samantha's name with distaste, while trying not to sound TOO overbearing, but making it clear he truly believed everyone's grade would suffer with the current arrangements. Forceful, but allowing just enough wiggle room that someone could think they were actually contributing to the decision.

In Sammy's defense, she didn't even have a say in the name, Braum had simply taken the pumpkin and returned to his little pack of ladies in the back of the room with barely any word to her other then the invitation to join them after class. So she stood watching the smug Demon nesting above them, finally he spoke.

"You never bothered to let me contribute on that, you took him before I could say anything and left to bring us here." Slowly she started to pace her face clearly showing distaste at the suggested plan. "You want to cheat? Is this why you invited me here to suggest I cheat in a class where the teacher already dislikes me and has my best friend with her tail between her leg whenever she so much as looks at her?"

Her hand twisted into a fist, clenched and shaking as he continued to speak, "Well the carrion was willing to listen; I came here after all didn't I?" Stooping down she grabbed a rock flinging it at the tree beside Braum sending a flock of pets to take to the sky. "You and the child, can go to hell. Your plan, can go to hell. I'm reporting you and you can enjoy raising your precious. Little. Child. Inbetween trips to detention with Cricket."

She turned pausing to look at both Yaya and Junko, "I suggest you don't listen to a word he has to say, I might have distaste for demons, but I would hope you can see he's going to screw us all with his idea." She turned back towards the nested demon pointing one finger at him, "If you think you can simply switch parents at the end and NOT have a problem come up you're a bigger idiot then I could imagine."

Turning for the door of the aviary she left, the sound of boots crunching dirt and gravel as she left for Crickets. Screw the class, screw the assignment, she was not going to be caught cheating to avoid time with Braum, she would rather fail for rejecting him as a partner and be called a snitch for pointing this out to Cricket.

She could only hope her friends didn't have to deal with as much crap in their groups.

Junko blinked and jumped a little at the sudden touch to her hip, looking to Yaya and then down at their hips. She was awfully close, but then again she had been very close with Braum who had said she was just a dear friend. Maybe this was just how she was? Very strange though, Junko wasn't used to being touched; she couldn't remember if she had ever so much as hugged anyone at Amityville. She was pretty sure she hadn't! She didn't move away for fear she'd upset the demon in some way, but it was rather clear she was a bit tense and unsure of what to do with her being touched. She didn't...dislike it terribly? It wasn't a bad feeling or anything! She just didn't know what to do about it. "I'm not sure, I've never raised a pumpkin before." Was it like raising a pet? She had a few of those! But maybe not, it was supposed to be a baby not a pet, and babies weren't pets. Damn!

But then Braum began to speak of some kind of plan, looking up at him with a furrowed brow. Switch partners? But she liked Yaya so far, why would she--oh. Ohhhh she understood now. He just didn't want to work with Samantha. Junko frowned, her fingers pressed to her lips as she looked to the undead and then Braum with concern. She didn't dislike anyone here, she had no reason to, but this plan really didn't sound like a good idea. "Well...as long as she doesn't hurt it I...I'm not sure that's such a--" Junko gasped and jumped closer to Yaya when Samantha threw a fit over the plan, watching with wide eyes as the birds flew out of the tree with loud cries of indignation, sure she disliked this plan as well but there were more polite ways of rejecting it than losing your cool! She was very tempted to cling to Yaya as Samantha turned to them, almost worried of what she'd do in her current fit of rage. People didn't think when they were angry! She could do something she didn't mean and regret it later! B-but hey! She wasn't an idiot! That wasn't fair!

"She's got a point you know!" She finally interjected, having been awake and listening all this time. She was not going to let some stupid demon screw over Her Junko. Hell no. Junko frowned and put her hands over the back of her head as if to shut Her up before either of the two still left in the room, looking from Yaya to Braum.

"While I...understand you wouldn't want to work with someone you dislike," Junko would be less than pleased herself if she had to work with Mei-Xiu, she felt so bad for that little zombie girl who was stuck working with her, but she would at least attempt to do it for the grade even if she had to raise the baby all by herself! "I'm not sure it's such a good idea...someone could catch wind, regardless of Samantha telling Miss Cricket about it, and then they could maybe say something. I don't see it working out very well, it could get all of us in trouble." She finally dropped her hands from her head now that she'd said her piece, hoping and praying that She wouldn't add her two cents in as well. How could Braum think that plan could possibly work without some kind of consequence even if Samantha had agreed to do it and not instead go to Cricket about it?

Under other circumstances, the marid may very well have enjoyed the raising tension growing in the room. She liked strong emotions, observing them anyways. She so seldom felt anything so very heated herself, she had taken to watching those around her and delighting in the "drama", for lack of a better word. Good or bad, if it was strong, Yaya enjoyed watching. However, one of the people involved was her dear Nevermore, and she would never wish any such misfortune or stress on him. Swimming blues flicked back and forth between the demon and the undead, concern and unease so very clear on exotic features. IT was an absolute wonder she hadn't clung to the monster beside her yet.

Dark brows arched as Braum lay out his plan, then arched further as he spoke about her and her habits. She even opened her mouth to argue, but in all honestly she really couldn't. She'd never shoved one of her pets out into the hall, but they never screamed or cried. What -would- she do if the pumpkin started howling during one of Yaya's many naps. Dark lips snapped shut, pursing thoughtfully. There was also the matter of having Braum as a partner, which she would be very much in favor of. Not that Miss Junko wasn't a sweetheart and quite nice in her own regards, but Yaya just didn't know her that well yet.

Of course, she was saved from having to share her opinion by Samantha's angry outburst. That did have the marid clutching at Junko's arm, dark eyes wide. Not so much afraid, for the demoness was far more confident in her skills then that, but in sheer surprise. The owlkin on her shoulder gave out an angry screech, shuffling nervously from foot to foot, and leaving lovely little claw prints on Hadiyya's skin. She gave him a soothing pet, but really she couldn't blame him. And then the undead was stomping out of the aviary, no doubt going off to tattle to Nurse Cricket. It actually made the marid's jaw slack, mouth hanging open in both shock and .. well not outrage, but something close to it!

"Now that is very low.." Her voice was a quiet hiss, and seemed to be followed by another, more muffled voice. Not exactly in response, but it very well could have been. Curious, very curious. A concerned glance was turned up to Braum still perched on the edge of the nest. This wasn't good.

"It may be moot now. She's already left to go tattle." Was that a hint of scorn in the mild mannered djinn's voice? Why yes it was. Shifting a wee bit closer to the monster(she was already clinging to the other ghoul, what was another inch or two?), Yaya afforded the bundle of black hair pinned to the back of Junko's head a wary glance before twitching her gaze to Junko herself. "I think I have an idea, and it doesn't include splitting up. How about we three just work together as a group to raise our two babies? We'll still be partners, but we can give Braum a hand as well, now that he's a single father." It made sense in her own mind, at least.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 02, 2010 11:41 am

Braum was furious. He screeched his displeasure as she stormed out of the aviary, not only effectively pissing him off, but disturbing the birds, which was the real crime. Poor Archie had almost fallen out of their nest! He trilled quickly to the birds that had taken flight and were squawking in displeasure, in an attempt to calm them down. He didn't own any of them, but still, birds had a habit of losing their feathers when they were highly upset, and he didn't want any of them to suffer because Samantha was an idiotic prat who needed to learn her place. If he hadn't been coming down from a vision, he would've flown higher to check on every single one of them, but as it was, his wings intellectually told him not to move right now as a shudder passed through them. Anger plus lack of motor skills did not for good flying make.

Instead he retreated farther into the next that he was perching on, curling up with the pumpkin and Archie. What he WANTED to do was swoop down upon the girl, tear her to shreds, and then giggle as he watched the various pieces of her body and organs twitch. He took a few deep breaths to calm his more violent nature. Even Yaya hadn't seen too much of that side of him yet, and he wanted to keep most of the crazy at bay at least for a little while longer.

His hearing zeroed in on Junko's agreement with Samantha. AGREEMENT. REALLY? He hadn't been lying, to be honest. He literally thought Yaya would be a negligent mother. He adored the marid, but half the time she slept through class, let alone sleeping through a baby's needs. Who would be there to take care of the child if it had a bad dream? What if it got scared? What if it needed time "alone", and a watchful parent needed to be hovering in the trees stealthily, just to make sure they were safe? Who would be there to explain that ghouls were young ladies to be treated respectfully, except during the rutting season, in which all gloves were off and you could ruffle them up as much as you pleased? Braum found himself having an incredibly strong desire to be that person that was there. Like his father had been there for him, when he had time.

He'd never blamed his father his political career, he was a widely sought out political consultant, and for good reason. He was good at what he did, and if he "saw" your opponent get pushed down a well and fall into a coma, thus taking them out of the race, who was going to question the psychic ability of a Raum? They DID foresee horrible things. But he'd been a good father in the seasons he wasn't helping someone campaign. And even when he was gone, he was only a skellyphone call away, and he always made time to talk to his son.

He clutched the pumpkin fondly, petting it and silently vowing that he wouldn't let Samantha OR Cricket take it from him. He'd grown alarmingly close to it in a short time. He wondered if his father had gotten so attached to him when his birth pumpkin had broken only to show a large egg, meaning they had to wait even longer for their fledgling to hatch. Bartimaeus probably had. Deep down, he was a softie, just like his son. But Yaya shook Braum out of his introspective thoughts.

Both he and Archimedes leaned over the edge of the nest to peer down at Junko and Yaya, raising an eyebrow, which Archie consequently tried to mimic and failed since birds did not have eyebrows. It made Braum smile just a little at the tiny bird's antics, and he pat him on the head for good measure. Swooping up both pumpkin and bird, he jumped over the side of the nest abruptly, spreading his wings wide to simply glide down to safety. He wasn't up to active flying, but gliding didn't require much. He still wobbled a tiny bit when he landed though, a rare occurrence for the graceful bird. He shrugged it off and stared straight at the girls, his confidence not missing a beat and pretending as if he'd never wavered at all.

"..........you do know I don't NEED help? I can be a perfectly fine father on my own......but I suppose it would be good for Aerrue to have a sibling.....and Dai is going to need a father figure....I'll agree to helping you two out,"
he said, his words full of arrogance and denial, but his eyes were warm with thanks and excitement for the idea. It was as good an admittance of fault that they were going to get out of him, and he wanted to see how mothers reacted to their children anyways. His mother had never been around, so he assumed all women sluffed the responsibilities and care off on the males. For some reason, he didn't get that feeling from Junko, though he kept in the back of his mind that Yaya would need to be watched, but that wasn't hard since they were together so often anyways.
