Oblivion being the wide open, nonlinear RPG that it is, is one of those games that's fun to role play while you are playing it. Weither you try and recreate a character and act as them during your playthrough, trying to be the epic hero of justice, or a villain who only wants to kill people it's tons of fun.

So I pose this question, just because I thought it'd be cool to see other people's style, but how do you play this game?

I personally find villains fun to roleplay so I created a character who would save the world, but only because she had something to gain from it. Weither it be stoping Merunes just so he wouldn't be the one to plunge the world into darkness, defeating Manimarco to steal his staff and control the dead, or taking down Umaril just to steal his equipment and seal away the holy relics of the Crusader.

And you?

I use my wood elf named dark, complete the main quest story line, become new sheogorath. And does services for people.

I play an Imperial with a custom made class (I call it Homunculus) with Alchemy, Blade, Light Armor, Armorer, Destruction, Acrobatics, and Security for my main skills.

With the alias of Umbarius Donahue, this Homunculus was thrown into jail for consuming the remains of a slain Nord (identity unknown). When the Emperor came through, he was set free (sort of) and went on to save the world. Through his adventures he met many people, and aided them in their endeavours, learning a new respect for life and those around him. After a while, his instincts took hold of him once more, and he killed again. That night, a hooded man came to him, and made him part of the Dark Brotherhood. Eventually, he rose to the forefront of this demonic cult, and then turned his gaze towards greener pastures. With practised ease, he rose to become Grand Champion of the Arena, Master of the Fighter's Guild, and Arch-Mage of the Mage's Guild. Being a Homunculus, he simply went through the motions as were programmed in him at his creation. For the Thieves Guild, he stole more than any before had ever done. And yet, the time came when he was called to do something greater. The new Emperor, Martin Septim, needed him to save the world from Mehrunes Dagon with him. So he went to this calling, and watched as one of his newfound friends died. He vowed that day to never kill as a Homunculus, or a Dark Brotherhood member again. When he heard news of a man in Anvil preaching of the "Eight and One", he investigated, only to be thrown on a quest of great and perilous grandeur. He finished, killing the Umaril the Featherless with his personally made sword, the Lightning of Quel'Daran. As he dropped from the sky into his own body, he saw a gateway opening in Niben Bay. It looked like a face... Or faces... Once revived, his Knights congratulated him on his accomplishment, and he rode on Shadowmere towards the water. After reaching this insane gate, he entered to find a whole new land awaiting him. He traveled around it, not knowing why he could not pass through the gates, and so he slew the Gatekeeper, finding the keys inside. He heard a voice, oddly Scottish sounding, in his head, saying to only enter through one gate, to choose his blessing, of either Mania or Dementia. He chose Dementia, and gained the blessing. He traveled to New Sheoth, the city he could see in the distance, and began his quest to aid Sheogorath in defense of his realm. What he did not expect, however, was that Sheogorath was not Sheogorath, but Jyggalag, the Daedric Prince of Order. He fought for hours with him, and ended up slaying him, setting him free, and becoming the true Prince of Chaos, the new Sheogorath. At this, the Homunculus felt himself filled, that he had finally found his lot in what was to be his life, as he would never wear out like the flesh-and-blood people he knew so well. So he lived forever in the Shivering Isles, as the Prince of Chaos.

I wanted to write that forever. xD I did a lot of sneaky fighting, some bullrushing, and a LOT of spell-sniping. And some enchanting. :p

I generally play an anti-hero a stealth based thief and assassin favoring the sword and regular clothing.A mage who refuses to use invisibility or chameleon and relies on keeping to the shadows the stabbing his victim in the heart. My favorite in game quest is for the Dark Brotherhood I enjoy the mission where you go to the mansion in Skingrad and have to kill all of the party guess.I generally kill the Imperial pig first and save the Nord for last.I vary my race each play through but I liked being an Altmer a lot never got to use enemies explode with another race. The Mages guild questline was also pretty cool but it had a lot of glitches to it such as the necromancers amulet being based on an NPC's level instead of your own.Overall guild quests I found myself enjoying the thieves guild the most perhaps because it eased some kleptomaniac urge within me.Or maybe it was the knowledge that I could set straight the errors of the original Gray Fox.

I play the game depending on the race. For example when I played an argonian I lived in that small house in Leyawiin and decorated it to make it look poor but cozy and I liked to think that she was nice but when it came to humans or anyone that disrespected her kind she hated them. With my high elf I made her wear fancy clothes and live in Skingrad and have only the finest weapons of course xd And she was smart and very involed with the Mages guild or anything magic related. Then with my dark elf I made her very sneaky and of course she was in the Dark Brotherhood and Theives guild. I guess you could say I played the game in a girly way but I kicked major butt ninja

my character is a dark elf aka dunmer named lyens. he is master of all the guilds and the new sheogorath of shivering isles i rule over the guilds well and constanly earn money in the game. i like stealth alot and am always invisible it is rare to even see me unless i am shopping. i am always invisible otherwise. i use enchanted deadric armor in battle. and very heavely enchanted robes and hood when in stealth. i am arch mage so i have access to almost everything and a i have a thing for collecting one of every key in the game so i can unlock anything. i love swords and bows and am a master of both nothing has killed me in the game since i bought it.

I play a High Elf. With somewhat of a back story. I'm kinda developing it as i play the game. The gist is that my High Elf was thrown into jail because he was basically a stuck up a*****e in the Mages guild. He got in too deep with necromancy and was punished for it. I'd post the rest but i dont feel like it.
I need more gold.

Aram the wood elf archer, fast, and nimble, and theif and can kill anything with his enchanted silver dagger

i RP'd him as a lowly hitman for hire who had a grudge with Valen Dreth so i snuck in to assassinate him but the guards came though with the emporer, i figured it be best to go with them and just came another time, not knowing id actually get a contract for him later, much to my delight smile
