A sense of déjà vu filled the stallion, it was as if he had been on this plain before, but his logical mind clearly pointed out that this was a different plain than the one he had been in months back. Perhaps it was the similarities that made the stallion believe he was in the same place; his keen blue eyes took in the detail of the grassy plain; tiny minute details revealed that the plain was different. The grass was not as golden and there was not a lost civilization located in the middle of the golden field.

High in the sky, not a cloud was seen in the vast sea of blue and there was only a slight breeze, if even a breeze at all; it was a perfect day to fly. The stallion flexed his gold and red wings, letting them feel the freedom they had longed for. It seemed like years since the stallion had last taken flight, but in truth it had been weeks; even though the stallion had four wings upon his back, he rarely used them, for in his field of work, it was easier to see the smaller clues while on the ground.

A lone mare stood motionless on a small cliff, some distance - but not too too far - from the red and gold winged stallion. The wind swept past her, blowing her hair off her face and neck. She liked the feeling; it made her feel free. It was times like this, when the wind was so pleasant, that Lusia often felt as though she wanted to fly; was meant to fly. Like it was a natural thing; something she had been born to do.

Well, supposedly that wasn't too far from the truth. She opened her eyes and looked down at her left wing, a frown spread across her features and she snorted.
"I am meant to fly. Whether you think so or not!" She turned to her right wing. "That goes for you, too. And since I'm the boss, I say...we fly!" Her wings, seeming to obey, shot out and thrust down as she took a short run toward the cliff edge, then leaped into the air.

She plummeted, careening downward from the cliff until finally the wind caught her frantically flapping wings. Abruptly her fall was halted, and she began a graceful glide out over the land. As she made her way over a grassy plain, she thought she spotted another Soquili not too far off. Though to her it appeared to be a blur of red and gray and gold. She decided she'd go to investigate.

She angled her body just so...and ..yes! She was now heading toward the figure. Easy enough, she thought. Though really she had no idea what she was doing. So when the wind suddenly changed direction without notice, she was turned at a wrong angle, her wings crumpled against her and she once again began plummeting towards the earth.

"AHHHHHH!" she let out a scream, that was carried away on the wind. She flapped her wings frantically once again to try to right herself, but despite her attempts, she continued to flip and turn, falling quickly and messily through the air, her scarf wrapping around her making it all worse.

Flying is a mixture between art and science; the working of the wings, the current of air beneath the feathers, and the dance through the skies. Just a slight change in the wing could change everything in flight, a flap of the wing would shoot the flyer higher into the sky or if the wings are pressed closer to the body, the flyer could zoom down toward the earth below, then open his or her wings right before impact and glide over the land.

Wystan stood still, enjoying the breeze through his wings, his mind already flying through the skies; he was not on a case, so he had the time to launch himself into the hair and dance among the clouds, as his mother would have said. The grey colored stallion’s muscles bunched, preparing to press against the hard earth and enter the vastness of the sky, when his observant blue eyes noticed a pink speck falling through the clouds. Curious to what the speck could be, the stallion stayed grounded, waiting for the pink blob to become clear. Only seconds passed when the speck turned into a pink soquili flying out of control.

Without a thought, Wystan launched himself into the air and flew with a quick grace to the pink falling soquili; as he got closer he noticed that it was a winged mare. Her scarf was wrapped around her, thus causing her more trouble with the opening of her wings, but it would not stop her from being about to glide down to the ground. “Miss, I am here to help. Stop trying to flap your wings, it will cause your scarf to become more tangled; open your wings more to catch the wind; it will slow your descent.”

As he waited for her to react to his words, the detective looked over the pink and black mare; she was an alicorn, perhaps that was one of the reasons why she found it difficult to fly? Situations raced through the stallion’s mind of what he would have to do to slow the mare’s descent to the earth if she was unable to glide down to safely. His eyes looked toward the earth; they had a few minutes left before impact, hopefully that would be enough.
