The hitting he could handle. The shoving he could tolerate.

But it was the spitting into his face that really sent him over the edge. It was the complete and total lack of respect, the teen's obvious desire to have his a** handed to him, his flippant and blatant disregard for someone of Jianyu's status. He hadn't ever given his Captain title a thought when it came to those around him, hadn't ever considered himself to be "above" those he cared about it in anyway. It was a basic fact that he was extremely capable and intelligent when it came to fighting, which was why he maintained his status with such dignity. Or at least, he hoped so. But it was people like Sakngea, irritating, arrogant, little pests like Sakngea that drove Jianyu to the edge, to the limit of his temper. It wasn't that he wanted to fight a brat like the redhead, but Sakngea had practically asked for it, after all.

And he was not about to let him get away with spitting in his face.

With an angry snarl, Jianyu flipped Sakngea sideways, slamming him to the ground easily. The rain made his footing unsteady, and Jianyu slid for a second on the slick, wet grass, barely keeping himself upright. It didn't matter, however, because within a few seconds he had reached down, seizing Sakngea by his collar again.

"Children should learn to behave." Jianyu snapped before throwing the redhead back against the tree as hard as he could.

Sakngea couldn't stop smiling as he watched Jianyu's face contort as the spit slapped his cheek. Couldn't help but feeling proud and brave. That was until something changed in the Captain. Suddenly angry became furious and the redheads stomach dropped. This was no longer as funny as he had thought before, and as light exploded over the city, followed by rumbling thunder, Sakn's face also changed. The smile was lost and he had a nearly blank face on.

What now?

The air was literally knocked out of Sakn as Jianyu threw him down onto the soaking ground. The water-heavy grass provided less then adequate buffer as Sakn's back slammed down. He gasped for air as Jianyu slipped, and was just struggling to his feet when the furious Captain yanked him back up. Why Jianyu had decided to throw him to the ground was beyond Sakn, but he did know that this was definitely serious business now.

And when Sakn was serious, he was angry. Rage was boiling in the redhead's stomach as Jianyu slammed him back against the tree. He bite down hard on his tongue(accidentally) as his head jerked, but Sakngea didn't make a noise. He just spit on Jianyu's arm, leaving a splatter of blood on the older mans sleeve and red rolling down from the corner of his own lip.

And when he realized what Jianyu had said, Sakn screamed over another roll of thunder, "I AIN'T A CHILD!" Then he lifted a knee and pressed his bare foot against Jianyu's leg and pushed off the older man's leg with all his might. He heard his shirt rip, and then Sakngea brought his elbow down, aiming to hit Jianyu on the head or shoulder if he was lucky.

No one would call him a child if he beat a captain of the Legion! No one would say anything bad to him ever again!

The rain was making it much too difficult to see, and the cracks of lightning that split across the sky gave white-hot flashes of light, along with the deafening rumbling from the thunder a split second later. Rainwater mixed with the spit that Sakngea had gotten on his arm, mingling with the bloody liquid, and Jianyu felt a scowl twist his lips.

Why was it that he was turning his beautiful hill into a battlefield? But that was Sakngea's fault entirely for provoking him, for taunting him, for even appearing on the top of Cherry Tree Hill, invading both his personal space and tainting his peaceful sanctuary. Jianyu was not about to let that go, especially when it was that obnoxiously immature brat Sakngea who had been the one to tread onto territory where he obviously did not belong.

"You're certainly not a man!" he shouted above the noise of the storm, and then let out a screech of pain as Sakngea's foot connected with his leg with an excruciating force. Jianyu let out a string of obscenities, most of which he had learned from Bataar and would have made his ex-lover very proud. He dropped the redhead almost instantly, stumbling backwards. The kick hadn't broken his leg - a miracle - but it would most likely cause a horrible bruise come morning. With a feral snarl, Jianyu snapped his teeth together, darting forward to grip Sakngea's wrists, twisting his arms backwards as he raised his knee, slamming it into the redhead's stomach.

"You shitty b*****d - !"

Sakn smiled heavily when that scream broke loose from Jianyu's lips. Knowing that he had actually made a mark on the other man pleased the redhead immensely and he was just about to rinse and repeat, but Jianyu's hands were releasing him, and he landed with a thump on the wet ground.

The boy was up in the blink of an eye, ready to charge, but the Captain had beaten him to the punch, and Sakn's awkwardly swung fist was caught in a painful grip; his other arm was grabbed just as quickly. The fisherboy raised his head to look at Jianyu, confused momentarily by the other mans speedy movements before it hit him-- literally.

For a single, frightening moment, the younger boy regretted this fight. He could die in this fight. Jianyu could easily kill him. Sakngea realized then that he had bitten off more then he could chew.

Bile rose viciously in the back of Sakn's throat as he heaved, gasping for air even as his stomach wished to flip itself inside out. It was a sicking feeling and the boys eyes watered up and he slumped against Jianyu's raised knee, before his water-moist hands slipped through the other mans grip and he fell to the ground; curling himself in as he tried to regain his breathing.

And as Sakn's lungs began to fill with air once again, the angry fire that had been squashed by Jianyu's kick was suddenly ignited once again. How dare that a** think he could do that and get away with it! HOW DARE HE HOW DARE HE!

That was all that ran through the fisher's head from that moment on. His fists clenched, nails digging into the soft, pliable dirt before he grabbed at Jianyu's leg, hoping to knock him down and pin him. Hoping that he could just get one good punch at this jerk's face before the water that poured down washed them away. The whole entire time he bit down on his tongue, tasted blood in his mouth. No time to speak, only time to finish this.

The stupid redhead was too feisty for his own good, too arrogant and full of himself. Jianyu let out a feral snarl, clenching his teeth as he attempted to keep the wriggling, lashing, loud Sakngea from moving. It wasn't doing much good, considering that Sakngea was struggling with all of his might, twisting and shouting. However, the kick Jianyu aimed at his stomach had hit dead on, and Sakngea collapsed instantly, gasping for air as he fell against Jianyu's raised leg.

Jianyu himself felt an odd sort of satisfaction at seeing brash Sakngea weak, but his satisfaction was short-lived, since the redhead threw himself at his leg. With a shout, Jianyu tumbled backwards, Sakngea half on top of him, his fist managing to barely miss his face as it connected with his shoulder. Growling angrily, Jianyu felt a sharp pain shoot through his left side, ricocheting down his arm unpleasantly. He twisted his leg up, pressing his knee to Sakngea's stomach and shoving - hard. The movement forced the boy back, and Jianyu rolled sideways, his hands slipping on the wet grass. Above them, the thunder was almost deafening, the rain making it difficult to see. He scrambled to his feet, nearly falling as he whirled around to face Sakngea, arms raised, hands clenched into fists.

"Is that all you've got, brat?" he shouted, voice muffled by the storm. "I thought you said you were strong!"

Sakngea was growing tired. Very tired.

Tired from the way he couldn't get Jianyu just right; couldn't just knock the mans lights out and get on with it. Tired of the rain that blinded him, making his braids heavy and his clothing tight and uncomfortable to move in. And the redhead was most definitely tired of being kicked, thrown and pushed around by the Captain. As the air was once again knocked out of the teens lungs, he thought of how he had to just keep going(couldn't give up, can't give up, won't give up!), and as he slammed down hard into the mud, all he heard in his head was get up, get up, get up!

It was like some kind of mantra, some kind of spell. And the redhead murmured it to himself as his arms shook and his legs screamed; bones he had never felt ache before now cried out, bruised and battered, ready to throw up the white flag. But somehow Sakngea still struggled up, panting and glaring at the dark-haired b*****d through his rain-soaked bangs.

He gasped with a open mouth as Jianyu yelled, and even over the storm, those words rang clear. The beast in his belly roared and Sakn spit blood onto the dirt and grass beneath them. "<******** you," he managed to gasp before his hand slid back, reaching for the fishing knife his grandfather gave him.

He was strong! Strong as any man. He would prove it!

The enraged fisher boy made another run at his opponent, even though his bare feet ached and his body shivered with cold and pain, the hilt of the small blade clenched tight in his fist. Sakngea had no plans to stab the man, but a hard piece of metal in his fist would make any punch twice as rough, and made his fist all that more threatening.

"I'll show you!" he hollered as another roll of lightening rumbled through, leaving the redhead light-blinded. Or perhaps Sakngea was fading fast; his mind giving up along with his body, even if his ego urged him on.

It was wet. And soggy. And heavy. Jianyu felt as though his clothes weighed three times as much as they normally did. Not to mention that his hair kept sticking to his face in soaked clumps that blocked his vision; he kept having to swipe the thick strands out of his eyes, shoving them aside so he could see what he was doing. The rain was cold, chilling him to his very bones and Jianyu clenched his teeth together, preventing them from clattering noisily as he repressed a shiver. He was not exactly tired - far from worn out, since he was used to years of training to become physically adept and keep his stamina going - but he was growing weary of Sakngea. All he had to do was last a little longer, push a little further and the redhead would be too exhausted to continue.

The knife, however, was unexpected. Surprise ricocheted through Jianyu's veins as a flash of lightning illuminated the blade, glinting off of the silver. Sakngea rushed towards him, unhesitatingly fast, and Jianyu let out a quick snarl of frustration, one hand lashing out to grip one of Sakngea's wrists. Most unfortunately, however, his aim was slightly off, and he wound up grabbing the full blade instead. The sharp edge sliced through his palm easily, leaving a red line, and Jianyu gave a hiss of pain as blood began to slide down his wrist. Angrily he pushed forward, this time managing to catch Sakngea's wrist (wincing in pain as he did so) while his other, uninjured hand shot forward, fingers wrapping around Sakngea's neck. He didn't squeeze, didn't even move except to stand there, holding the redhead firmly.

"Drop it."

When Jianyu's hand closed tightly around his knife, Sakn felt something twist in his stomach. He could almost feel the sharp blade slide into the Captain's palm, and he thought at that moment:

I've never done this before.

Never in his life had the redhead used the simple fishermans knife for fighting, never had he done more then brandish it as a threat. To actually injure someone with it both excited and frightened to the boy. This was all so real now, this wasn't just a brawl, this was a fight between two opposing sides. This was what war felt like. His stomach tightened more and it was like being drunk; a warmth in Sakns belly and a haze over his mind.

Sakngea wasn't sure if he actually liked the feeling in his stomach or the way his mind reeled, but he had no time to think it over because Jianyu was coming at him again; this time his bloody, wet hand clasped tightly around Sakn's wrist as he clutched the redhead's neck tightly in his other. Sakns eyes met Jianyu's sharp, cold blue ones and he glared.

He dared to glare even though how this ended was obvious.

The boy squirmed and he struggled, his legs swinging pathetically as he attempted to get out of the other man's grasp. But each movement was a task, and his air supply was limited. Everything was blurry and it wasn't just the rain any more.

Sakn gave Jianyu one last look and used the last of his strength to do the only thing he could do. Clutch that knife tighter in his hand and spit at Jianyu.

Of course, the bloody drool barely reached past his lips, and his fingers were soon too numb to hold the knife that thunked against the ground, the blade sinking as easily into the ground as it had into the older man's hand.

Damn, he was gunna lose this thing.

His hand hurt like hell. Jianyu was resisting the urge to let out a few choice swear words as blood began to pool where his palm was wrapped around Sakngea's wrist. The cut to his hand had not been deep, but it had been sharp, and as an archer, Jianyu's hands were precious to him, so he was somewhat beyond furious to have injured one of them - again. His hand had barely healed from the fight he had had a few weeks prior to this one, and now he had gone and wounded himself again. Needless to say, he was somewhat less than pleased by this turn of events.

The storm was still thunderous around them, loud and unyielding as it shook the ancient cherry tree beside them, blossoms torn from their branches and flung out into the wind. Jianyu's entire being was drenched, soaked to his skin, and the sound of the lightning cracking above his head was making him shiver violently. Although, given their situation, it was indistinguishable from the shivers he gave due to the cold.

The redhead had attempted to spit at him. Even Jianyu could see that. A stubborn one, he thought, with some exasperation mixed with irritation.

"Give it up," he said. "You've lost."

The thunder was defining; it rang like a thousand roaring voices in Sakn's ears, echoing over and over inside his mind. The boys usually vibrant green eyes were now dull from exhaustion(and defeat?), the lightening shone off them like a mirror. His breath was labored and when Jianyu demanded he give up, the boy groaned and managed to push himself away from the older man, managed to release himself from the grip.

He looked down, then, at the knife in the ground, at the blood that dripped from Jianyu's hand. He felt the soreness of his own muscles, the ache in his bones. Sakn noticed everything around him in that moment, and all he could hear in his head now was:

"You lost."

It was like a nightmare, the way those words taunted him, and the redhead blinked back tears as his body shuddered and gave out. Bit back a cry as he landed knees first on the ground, and he held back his words as those dull green eyes looked up at Jianyu. He just looked at the man before his muscles gave.

As Sakngea lay slumped in the grass, his world fading, tunnel vision taking over, those words kept repeating in his head.

You lost.

Damn.
