Kingdom of CrysusThe kingdom-city of Crysus is home to the Aphotic faerie population. Much of the city is centered around the king's court and the outskirts of the kingdom are largely farmland that then gives way to nature. To the north lies the Frost, a region of frozen land that is near uninhabitable by the faeries.
Due to its smaller size and a larger population than Ruse, Crysus faces mild overcrowding. Because of this, newer buildings have been designed with height in mind, allowing for the use of sky space. Buildings are also packed close together, forming narrow cobblestone streets and alleyways.
The daylight hours are short here; less than half of a day's hours are illuminated. As a result of being so close to the Frost, Crysus is cold, and snows for much of the winter.
Aphotic faeries not only tolerate, but embrace the dark of their city. Instead of the bright glow of flame-lit street lamps, the faeries have innovated a special sort of powder which emanates a soft glow when exposed to water. This allows enough light to illuminate the roads for travelers, while not going against the nature of the beloved kingdom.
Foreign Policy:Luminous faeries are allowed only on the very borders of the kingdom as a way of defending the king's court from potential attack. If caught within a certain distance of the court, such a faerie is subject to arrest. (Never a promising end.) However, also after a certain distance, Crysus security becomes lax, allowing trespassers into the city. This results in a paranoid populace and many families pay for protective charms.
King:Gregori Carel; a firm ruler who won't hesitate to put injustice in its place and rarely shows a soft side.
