..oo1:: A Basic Rule.
- Follow the Gaia Online Terms of Service.
We need not elaborate on this – everyone should have a good idea of what this entails. If not, go read the TOS likenoakplzkthksbuhbye.
..oo2:: Abide these guidelines while role-playing.
- - There will be no god-modding whilst role-playing. It is childish and annoying. God-modding is also something that lacks creativity and realism. It ruins the fun for everyone else and adds nothing to the story. It’s used to feed malnourished egos will not be tolerated by the crew.
- No meta-gaming. In case you were wondering, meta-gaming is the use of information about the role-play in game that your character otherwise should not know. Meaning, you might know a character is evil, but that doesn’t mean your character knows. If you decide suddenly that your character knows everything about this villain that you know, that’s meta-gaming. It takes away from the role-play you're in, and is really unfair to all parties involved.
- Realism is a must in all of the role-plays. You cannot use a super powerful attack without major consequences. You cannot fight without retaining wounds. If you create a huge fissure in the ground, killing a whole bunch of people, you’re liable to collapse exhaustion. Newton’s Third Law of Motion: every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
- Cyber sex is an offense that is not at all tolerated in Scripto Romantique. It’s against the TOS. Sex scenes are for movies and Bodice Busters, not the public forums of Scripto Romantique.
- Do not post your profiles in a role-play or in the OOC forum. If you have a thread, ensure all profiles are PMed to you or placed in the proper forum (Profile Threads. . . in case you were wondering).
..oo3:: Concerning Activity
- Activity is an issue everywhere on Gaia. This guild has been created for several reasons, one of them being to avoid inactive threads. Therefore we have a strict policy regarding activity. The rules are simple really. Follow them and everything should be honky dory.
- -Post in the “Sign In Thread” once during the month. This post, as short and sweet as it is, is incredibly important to you and to us. Why, you ask? We keep record of every member who has signed in. It is, after all, the first sign that you are being active.
- The post-minimum per month is a grand total of two. It doesn’t matter where or when these go up – But they have to go up. If your post count has not gone up by at least three (one for the sign in thread, two elsewhere) by 11:59 on the last day of the month – You’re likely to receive a pm from any one of the crew members, letting you know you’re very close to stepping on thin ice. A warning will be issued. After this, you will be placed under the scrutiny of the crew. If the inactivity continues, a strike will be issued. If this continues – You’ll be banned from the guild.
-Please! If you are going to be gone for an extended period of time, post a message in the Away Thread.
..oo4::- Regarding Literacy
- Literacy: What a controversial subject.
At Scripto Romantique we are looking not for levels of literacy, my dear reader – no. We are looking for Gaians who can simply write. Be you “semi-literate” or “elite,” if you can weave us a scene with merely words and bring to life the world in your mind with your writing, we want you. We want originality and creativity. You are much more likely to get accepted into this guild if we find we like your writing style than if we find pages of work that is cliché and uninteresting. At the risk of being redundant, if you can only get three paragraphs out per post but we like these posts – you’re in. If you consider yourself “elite” and write seven paragraphs on average per post, but we find your writing is boring – you’re not in. If we see potential in any Gaian, chances are they’re in.
..oo5:: Listen to the Crew
- So, here's the deal. If a crew member is speaking to you directly about something, pay attention. If they tell you to do something or to stop something; don't argue it, obey it. They are crew members after all. They wouldn’t be telling you to do something if there wasn’t a reason behind it. If you turn out to be a problem for any crew member, it is likely you'll be banned. That’s all there is to it really. We're the authority in this guild and really we don't ask of much. But what we do ask of you is expected to be obeyed. If you have a problem with that - oh fackin' well. Moral of the story kids? Don’t be a douche, especially when a crew member is around.
..oo6:: Regarding Thread Creation
- You do not need to clear a thread with any of us. Just go with it; let your creative side go wild. But if any of the crew members see the need to change it, delete it, or lock it, you must deal with that as well. Of course, a member of the crew will ALWAYS PM you if there is a problem with your role-play. When a new role-play is created, PM either the guild mule or any of the crew letting us know that it is there. This PM should include a brief summary describing your role-play’s plot and anything else you want your fellow guild members to know about your role-play. We will then post your summary in the Active Role-Play thread in the main forum.
..oo7:: Thread Activity
- If a thread has been inactive for over a good one to three months, it will be moved to the Thread Graveyard, and will be locked. We’ll try to remember to notify you when this occurs. If you do not want it there, well. . . Tough luck. You can always try to start it anew.
..oo8:: Individual Thread Law
- Follow all individual thread rules.
Some might see the need for rules in their threads quite silly because we already have a set of them here. However, some might feel the need to add their own rules to their thread. If that is the case, follow those rules like you would these.
..oo9:: Guild Notifications
- Every member MUST have their Guild Notifications ON. This makes our lives as Crew Members so much freaking easier. It is much more simple to send out one notification as an announcement than to PM every single bloody member in the guild. In case you don't know how to turn you Guild Notifications on, click hurr.
..o1o:: Uncouth Behavior
- Being rude, flaming, and trolling is an offense in this guild that could issue a banning. It is as simple as that. If you instigate an argument with any one in the guild, you will receive a warning at the very least. Harassing anyone for any reason will do the same. Giving any one any real grief is no different. Leave all your anger, problems, and angst at the metaphorical door, and be kind to everyone within the guild. Disrespect for anyone with in this guild will not be tolerated. Simple as that.
..o11::Regarding Plagiarism
- This should be a given; but some people suck. So here we go. NO THEFT OF ANOTHER PERSON'S WORK. And by theft of another person's work, I mean do not steal any person's stories, their poetry, their role-play plots, their art, their character biographies, or any of that. DO NOT take another person's work and call it your own. That is plagiarism. In Windy's book, plagiarism is a greater sin than murder, adultery, coveting thy neighbor's Porsche, and disobeying thy parents put together. Seriously - It's low and lazy. To take another person's writing or art and to call it your own means that, not only are you a no good thief [
