The most striking thing about Kaatje van der Weydin after her brief stint as the Phoenix Empress was the way she acted. It wasn't the rather ragged cuts on her back from being thrown into a deserted section of the audience, or the plethora of vivid bruises, or even the minor concussion. She seemed almost jittery as she sat in Luke's living room, half-stripped out of the clothes she'd changed into on her way out of the Luchadome; her hands were shaking, but that could just be from the attempts to not reach around and strangle Luke where he sat.

Still, she was smiling. "That was a rush," she was saying, "that really, really was--and oh god you're such a wuss, don't think I didn't see you trying to run."

The red-orange mass of her hair was still thrown across her shoulders, curls clinging wetly to whatever open wounds were under the locks. "I still don't get how you're not hurt." He was, a bit, but much less noticeably than Kaatje, who had been in the thick of it. "...Wuss."

"I was trying to run for my own safety. You see this face? I'd like to keep it until I die. Take a deep breath and breathe." Luke referred to her condition, purposely soaking a cloth in more disinfectant than necessary, pressing it to an open wound. He hoped it stung like hell-- That's what Kaatje deserved for failing to inform him it was Don Diablos in the ring. The best wrestler of all time. An enemy that Luke never would have chosen to fight against. He increased the pressure at Kaatje's repeated insult, pasting an innocent smile onto his face.

He didn't see how he got the job of patching up Kaatje like this. He'd rather be patching up some other gorgeous woman at the moment in an entirely different way. But unfortunately, he was stuck with a super scout who had withheld information about his wrestler. He just couldn't believe it--- Why didn't he ask for an autograph? Don was like the messiah of power rangers.

It seemed, since their last incident, their relationship had gone back to normal. Of sorts. While most of their encounters remained like usual, it seemed that Luke put even more of a cheerful effort into playing this role of a superhero but his half-hearted effort showed, especially in the last situation of wrestling. Luke claimed he would never be able to fight Don but in reality, he wouldn't have put much effort, regardless of the situation. This responsibility thing wasn't sitting well with him-- more like, Luke was trying to shove it off the bench entirely.

It did sting like hell, but on her adrenaline high, Kaatje could almost gloss over it. She took a deep breath, held it for a moment and breathed out heavily. There was a hiss of pain and a hey, be careful when he pressed harder to the nice little gash. It also felt like her hair was caught between cut and disinfectant, so she looped her pretty ember-red hair over one shoulder. This exposed a viciously red crescent moon marking just at her hairline; it looked like it had been perhaps smeared with dye, like a tattoo but grounded deeply into her skin. Removing it entirely, ever, would be impossible.

"It wasn't so bad," she told him. "It's not like anyone died." No one had; some people had come close, but those were mostly people in the audience, which she considered to be a general threat of pro wrestling anyway. Largely fake, largely useless... she'd expected it to be a little less violent than it was, really. "Most of that was fake, I didn't know he'd actually be a psychopath. Sorry."

She must have been really high on the adrenaline. She actually apologized.

She was really high. She was also apologizing but for the entirely wrong thing. He spoke in a mock offended tone, waving his hand back and forth in a gesture of adamant refusal. "He's not a psychopath. You should know, everything he does and says is absolutely real." He argued, refusing to allow the other to belittle the image of the great red devil. That show couldn't have possibly been fake. After all, who would have known than an entire army of senshi and negaverse would be there? No, it must have been improvisation.

Especially the chair in mouth part.. Just as he was about to argue his point, something bright red caught his eye.

"Yo Gunn. What, they did your tattoo wrong or something?" He closed his box of medical tools, indicating that he was done with tending to her wounds. With a soft "click," the box was tucked into a nearby shelf once more. He sighed and leaned back against the couch, a temporary reprieve from the week's events.

"That's why he's a psychopath," she explained slowly, as if to a stupid child. It could be she thought of Luke as a stupid child, but the admiring glances she occasionally gave him very emphatically said otherwise. She appeared to be calming down, though, no longer jittering or bouncing her toes. There was one of those admiring glances again, the kind she thought he didn't notice.

She touched her fingers to the brand, embarrassed for a moment. "Oh, nooo. It's a brand."

Kaatje put her hands on her knees, palms flat. For a moment, she chewed on her full lower lip. "What do you know about the Blood Moon Court, Luke?"

Kaatje's looks of admiration did not look like looks of admiration. Especially not in Luke's eyes-- they looked like every other annoyed glance she sent his way. He was kneeling over his fridge when Kaatje spoke, his hand extended to take out two cans of juice.

Pressing the cold can to Kaatje's cheek, the snap of the bending metal could be heard, settling on the couch nearby. "Blood moon?" His tone was laced with a questioning but suspicious hint to it, glancing at Kaatje's nervous posture. It wasn't like her to be-- Luke wasn't sure if he wanted to know it.

"Considering the word 'moon' in there, I suspect it has something to do with this senshi business. Do I want to get wrapped up in an organization that brands people?" Luke raised a brow, shaking his head. It was something intense-- intense enough to brand with a burn.

Luke wasn't entirely sure he wanted to get wrapped up into something like his past. Again.

She took the can of juice, pressed it against the brand. It was almost healed, and the more time she spent as Sailor Gunn the more impressed into her skin it became. Still, sometimes she imagined it aching, and one of those times was right now.

"Well, before that... what do you think about this Serenity person? The one who appeared at Halloween?"

She personally thought that even if the Queen did come back, she wasn't beholden to her. What could some Moon Princess do that Gunn herself couldn't?... Just about nothing, she thought.

"Serenity? A gorgeous babe-- I'm sure she had a boyfriend who matched. Girls like that always do." He whistled, remembering the translucent Queen who encouraged them.

"Nice voice. Flat Chest. Lovely hair. What's to hate?" Luke inquired, envisioning the Halloween Ball in his mind. "Except you know. Branding people with burns-- It's a painful process." He added, shaking his head. He flipped the metal lid to open his drink, taking some very long sips, hiseyes casted downwards in an assessment of Gunn.

"Don't tell me, it has something to do with the fire reports all over the news lately? Personally, I think fireworks would have been more expensive. You could have gone out with a boom! instead of a whoosh. You know?"

Kaatje shrugged. "Don't care. She's dead. I don't hate her, she's just... not here. So I found a Queen who was here, who has goals and is organizing us, and... I'm going to serve her. You know? It's a philosophy that actually uses my powers, and all. Useful."

Plus, she got a certain degree of power, and the guidance she'd previously lacked. Kaatje didn't really have an overwhelming drive; the things she did want took her forever to decide she actually wanted them, so what was even the point there? But Ares, Ares had drive. Ares had a goal, and that attracted Kaatje--Gunn--like a moth to flame.

She took a long sip of her own drink, stood up. "Yeah, it's got something to do with that. We're not a gang, though. We just want to get rid of the Negaverse. You should join us." After a moment, she rubbed the side of her head. "I feel gross. I should head home so I can shower." She didn't even have clothes here, so she couldn't keep on trying to recruit Euterpe.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 09, 2011 1:28 pm

"Useful. You serving someone? You have an oddly obediant quality." He chuckled, shaking his head. It was likely that Euterpe was similar to Gunn in very few ways-- how he completely lacked any sort of drive whatsoever. Attracted to the people who had some-- he could name a few in that category.

"I'll think about it. Depends if it interferes with my fun time. A man's gotta enjoy himself, you know? Like tonight. As soon as you're out of here, I'm going to be bringing these hot babes over. I met them at work and they asked me to give them a call. Oh, how they're attracted to my dangerous and exciting lifestyle. You know?" He spoke, gesturing to his 'attractive' figure with a large grin on his face. He stood in the doorway, watching Kaatje exit the apartment building. Leaning downwards, he whispered a warning to Kaatje,

It was unlike Luke to take concern for her safety like this-- or did he really?

"Don't burn yourself up in one of those buildings you light! Johnny Storm can handle it but he's the human torch. Fantastic four's out of out league by far. Mainly, fiction beats reality anyday." He pointed out, indicating he was an avid reader of comics. Or at least, the movies.

"Fatality." He quoted that famous line from a video game in the arcade, in a low deep announcer voice.

She paused a moment in the doorway as she knotted the belt on her jacket. "Fatality, huh," she enquired, smiling a little bit. He had a good point; he had a great point. But it wasn't exactly one she was willing to acknowledge right now, nor one she really had time to figure out. Instead of gracefully acknowledging his worry (was it worry?) she balled up a fist and punched his shoulder, playfully. "Don't worry about me. I've got people at my back."

A little wave, and then... "See you, Luke."
