James was working on screwing in lightbulbs, standing on a ladder. Not his choicest job in the world, but the zombies he'd gotten to finish the construction hadn't quite thought of EVERY detail. They had done a very good job, though. He sighed as he climbed down, and sat at the table. His sister started bringing in the mail as he poured himself a glass of wine, and sipped it slowly. "What does the mail say today, sister?" he asked, enjoying the peace and quiet before the store opened. "Bills are to be set inside the white bin, and junk mail in the black to be sorted later."

Gail stepped through the door and listened to the soft chime of the bell and her brother's rambling. "Yeah yeah, same as every day, James. It isn't necessary to tell me these simple instructions every single day I get the mail."
She didn't bother to wait for a retort from her dearest sibling though and promptly plopped herself down at the bar, shifting through the various envelopes. "Bill, bill, magazine, your wine mag, your porno mag, junk, bills...Oh hey..." The old song and dance had been put into intermission as she held up a new piece of parchment and ripped it open. Scanning over it quickly, a mild look of surprise and amusement spread over her features.
"Hey James! We're pregnant! We're having kids!"

James froze mid-sip, and set the glass down very, very slowly. He waited for a few moments... then stood up, rested his hands on the bar to compose himself, and....
"WHAT?! How the hell can you even BE pregnant!? I didn't sleep with you! I'm INFERTILE! HOW CAN WE BE HAVING CHILDREN!?"
He started pacing back and forth, gesticulating with his hands in random places. His eyes were even starting to get yellow, as he was very emotionally wound up... which wasn't that good for his state of physical being... AKA - he was close to changing.

The woman snickered before his flustered panic caused her to bust out laughing, leaning back in the chair and letting loose. "O-Oh gods, the look on your FACE." For a few moments more she laughed and shook her head, finally calming herself so she could try to calm him. "James - calm down, I didn't molest you in your sleep, but we ARE having kids in the house. Look."
Upon her beckoning, she offered the letter up. It didn't actually say anything explicit about kids but she soon elaborated. "I've heard of people all over Gaia getting these. You wind up with a kid - though I'm not sure HOW that happens exactly. But it does say for BOTH of us to come, so I guess we're having kids."

James sighed, and rubbed the bridge of his nose, flopping down onto the bar stool, closing his eyes.
"Do you ENJOY scaring the living daylights out of me, dearest sister?" he asked, voice dripping with a wry sort of sarcasm. "Or is it just a side-effect of liking to cause my heart jump into my throat?"
He shakily picked up the wine glass, and took another sip.
"So... where and when are we supposed to meet these people." he said, voice rather shaky.

Looking it over once more she shrugged and tucked the letter in her pocket, adjusting her false ears a bit, as well as her tail as she stood. "Apparently as soon as possible - and we don't open for another half an hour. We can totally make it if we go now, so try not to get shitfaced for our appointment and come on." Satisfied then with the position of her prosthetic appendages she grabbed his hand and started dragging him out. "It's only a few blocks from here, come on!"

"Okay! Okay! I'm coming!" He slid his coat on, and skittered after her.
The building they arrived at looked... formidable and scientific. It sort of freaked him out, but then again... Just now, he was easily freaked. He looked all the way up, and then over at his sister.
"Are you SURE this is the right place? Maybe it isn't..."

Pulling out the letter, she looked it over once more before nodding. "Yep. Mixers Labs. Now stop simpering and come on." Grabbing him again she stepped inside, approaching the counter and sliding the letter towards the clerk. Offering a smile she inclined her head slightly. "Hi there, we received this letter and decided to drop in - I hope we didn't come at a bad time or anything."

The desk was actually empty, which made the motion very strange. However, a moment later, a woman with large fluffy hair poked her head around the corner to see if people had arrived, or she was just hearing voices.
"Oh, hey. Uhhhhhh well it's not the WORST but we are trying to deal with feeding times for the new litter of mana wyrms so you may have to follow me and just try to stay outta the way." Apoxi commented, adjusting her glasses and motioning for the pair to follow.

James reached up to adjust his tie, as if that would make him look any less nervous. He really, really didn't want to be here. But then again... curiosity was getting the best of him, and he WAS... rather... well.. children? It would be interesting to say the least and... mana worms? What were those? They sounded... strange.
Saying nothing, he followed after his sister, sort of shuffling his feet now and then as he paused to take in what was around him... Marvels everywhere he looked. Both of architecture and nature. Really, really odd though. Smells he couldn't place, sounds he couldn't place... and what was that taste in the air?

Gail shrugged and followed, peering through various doors as they passed by. Unlike her brother - her curious nature was more vocal. "So what does this entail exactly, and what are Mana Wyrms?"
The question would soon be answered as they rounded the bend and she was met with an odd sight. Her blue eyes widened considerably, but a smile formed on her lips. "Cool..."

Apoxi blinked back at Gail a few times. "It's a door." she said with a strange tone before opening it up to reveal a little room where a girl was doing ritual spells surrounded by some rather strange creatures. They were like little snake dragons with no wings or legs, just floating a bit and spinning in a circle, glowing with the magic of the ritual and their eyes all glowing the color of the magic, standing out against their bodies, which were a multitude of colors and patterns.
"Those are mana wyrms - they eat magic energy given off from being around magical creatures." she explained.

James fixed his tie again - which was a habit when he was nervous, and swallowed a bit. Snakes.... He was being tried on his self-control, he was SURE of it... Snakes... Oh, how he'd love to chase and catch those little things, and go crunchcrunch.... NO! What was he thinking? Now was NOT the time for werethoughts. ------------- A child peeeeeked into the Mana Wyrm enclosure, and wagged that draggony tail of his. "Pets!" One of the only words he knew, since he wasn't that good at speaking just yet. He inched a bit forward, and flattened himself to the ground, crawling in every sense of the word. Pets pets pets pets.... The child hid behind one of the counters, and flicked the tip of his tail.

Gail pointed to the sign as she stepped through and smiled. "Cool sign, by the way. One of the kids do it?" Before waiting for a reply to the query she stepped into the chamber and observed the creatures being fed. "I'm guessing those are the Mana wyrms, right? Are the kids past this or are we waiting on the feeding to be over before going on?"
--------------------------------
Pets. It was one of the words she understood. Nodding, a mischievous grin spread over her features as she low crawled next to her sibling. "Pets!" she whispered before narrowing those crimson eyes on a particular wyrm. It was as lively as the others, but it was the color that caught her eye.
Inching past the fuzzykin enclosure she tried to remain unseen as her tiny hand reached forth towards the magical creatures and made to grab onto whichever one ventured too close.

Apoxi glanced at it, before nodding. "Oh yeah Jillian made it. That's the girl doing the ritual. She's my daughter." Apoxi explained, eying the rest of the room. "I'm afraid we have to wait till after feeding to show kids. I have to monitor to make sure no one sneaks in and gets in trouble while the mana wyrms are being fed. Jill's using ritual magic to feed them and that mixed with their defense mechanisms makes them uber deadly if anyone tried to munch on them - which some of the kids, being dragon based, would. Sometimes they also try to sneak in and investigate the pets and I have to keep them out of that too."
Speaking of which, Apoxi spotted a rather rainbowy boy attempting to remain unseen as he crawled past the fuzzykin patches to the dragonfae enclosures. Immediately the little woman strode over and scooped up the boy, one arm around his chest, one around the midsection of his dragon lower half, carrying him back. "Case in point. Soooooooomeone's been getting in trouble again." she cooed at the boy, bouncing him, "and if he is, so's his sister." she glanced around to spot the girl but as she wasn't as draconic it was harder to see her.
