Heritage Park was one of the smaller parks in Destiny City. Like the better-funded Destiny City Central Park, Heritage Park was infamous, though the reasons were different. Heritage Park wasn’t infested with costumed kids or freaky accidents, but with aspiring gangsters and good ol’ robberies, rapes, and shootings. It’s crime, graffiti, and rusting playground equipment sent a clear message to the few uptowners that somehow ended up there: you’re not in Kansas anymore.
Anyone in Knocktown knew that Heritage Park was safe enough during the day if you weren’t alone, but that when the sun went down it was open season. The sun had set long ago now, and while the occasional gunshot and siren could be heard in the nightly chorus of the city, it was surprising that Heritage Park was not the cause of any of them. Nothing untoward had happened there; at least, not yet.
Lt. Mica was standing under a tree, observing a wreath of flowers placed at its base. The flowers were only slightly wilted, so she suspected they were for the boy who’s friend stabbed him for doing his girlfriend. Report said one of the stabs had been to his lung, resulting in him drowning in his own blood; unpleasant way to go. Mica tried to ensure her killings were swifter and cleaner then that.
Mica’s ears picked up on the sound of her targets approaching slowly. Some foolish teenage couple had decided to try and seek some privacy in the park, thinking that surely they wouldn’t become another statistic. They were partially right. When she was done with them they wouldn’t be a part of the statistics they had been thinking of, but they would add to the body count nonetheless.
It was Mica who the statistics favored: Senshi didn’t seem to frequent Heritage Park as much as the other parks. They were devoted to “good” and “justice,” but apparently only in those neighborhoods they deemed fit. Hypocrites.
Mica listened as the couple slunk into the bushes. When she heard the unmistakable sounds of spit being swapped, she nearly rolled her eyes. Time to intervene before she got an eyeful of scrawny bodies.
The snapping of a twig was the only thing that alerted the two to the approach of someone else. Mica’s cane lashed out, cracking the boy over the head and sending him sprawling. The girl let out a shrill scream, only to be cut off abruptly by a hand delivering a chop to her throat before grabbing it.
“ None of that.”

Maia had managed to get a little lost. Well maybe, not a little, more like a lot. She had never been to this park, but after a few minutes of walking she realized that it did not matter. Senshi were needed to patrol all parts of the city. The negaverse most certainly would not avoid an area for the way it looked. No, Maia needed to expand her horizons. She patrolled parks quite often, they seemed to be loaded with youma and having gotten over the freaked events that often occurred in them, Maia was a frequent sight about them.
She moved keeping to the shadows and even watching people and not just a few conduct rather risky behavior. For the most part they were simply civilians and Maia left them on their own. She was here to make sure they did not end up prey to the negaverse or a youma, not to save them from themselves. Even if she really wanted to stop them.
She watched as a couple guys approached a girl and started pushing her about before holding her and grabbing at her clothes. Her eyes went wide and she jumped out, poised to attack and attack she did. The guy that ran at her froze up and slumped over and the others ran. She helped the girl up, but the girl gave a frantic yelp before running away.
Maia frowned shaking her head and continuing on for a several minutes before she heard a scream and then silence. Maia took off running. She did not know what she was running to, but it could be the negaverse, so ran as quickly as possible toward where the sound came from.

Suffocation was an ugly way to go. The tendons in the girl’s neck stood out, her eyes were bulging, and her face was turning an unpleasant shade of red. Mica knew she was applying more force then was strictly necessary, but since the girl was going to die anyway, she doubted it would much matter.
“ It’ll be quick if you don’t fight me.”
Mica slipped her hand into the girl’s chest, grabbing at the starseed inside. The girl writhed, managing to make choked sounds of pain. The wriggling made Mica’s eyebrows draw together, giving the girl a vaguely annoyed look as she began to pull the starseed out.
Survival instinct got annoying after a while.

Maia got there just in time to see, what was obviously, a negaverser with her had in a civilians chest. Her eyes went wide. In all the times she had met a negaverser she had never seen this.
Maia look around and quickly grabbed the nearest thing to her, which turned out to a be a glass bottle. She chucked it, watching it fly through the air toward preooccupied nega.
"Drop the girl," she shouted to gain the other's attention, hoping the negaverser would turn just into to get a face or chest full of glass bottle. Really Maia's aim was not perfect, but being a senshi it was getting better. She just prayed she did not miss. She really did not want the civilain to loose her starseed.

The shouting was enough to draw Mica’s attention. She glanced over her shoulder in time to see the glass bottle sailing towards her. She was able twist enough so that the bottle missed her torso, but it did not miss her entirely. She had been slow in removing her arm from the girl’s chest, resulting in the bottle smacking firmly into her inner elbow. The leather of her bodysuit lessened the blow, but it still hurt like hell, causing Mica’s arm to fold as it finally came free of the girl’s body.
Shaking her throbbing arm loosely at her side, Mica turned to eye her new opponent. A red-headed white girl in an outfit that would be sophisticated if not for the short skirt. Mica felt a brief flash of puzzlement; since when did Uptown hookers frequent Heritage Park? The thought had barely crossed her mind when she remembered: Senshi.
Now, Mica had some experience with Senshi – the Halloween fiasco came to mind – so she figured it was just her luck that she managed to draw the attention of a Senshi willing to fight dirty. From what she had heard, most were too goody-two-shoes to throw a bottle at their opponent’s back. Granted, that meant this Senshi was a more respectable fighter, but it also helped to solidify Mica’s opinion that Senshi were a bunch of hypocrites.
Dangerous hypocrites. The stories Mica could remember of Senshi in Downtown, especially Knocktown, rarely resulted in anything good. These places had unspoken rules, ones the Senshi didn’t seem to get.
“ Lost?”
A stall tactic. Mica was using her cane to push the remaining chunks of glass from the bottle behind her, making them more difficult for the Senshi to reach. It wasn’t like there was a lack of litter projectiles in the park, but Mica wasn’t going to make it any easier then necessary for the Senshi.

Maia frowned at the girl before her, her look saying did she really ask that? Yes, she had been lost at first, but she decided to go with it and she most certainly was not going to admit to the other girl that she had been. How stupid would that be?
"Please," she said in a voice that clearly said as if I could get lost.
She took a step toward the girl and pointed the the starseed that resided in the other's hand instead of where it belong.
"Put that starseeds back where it belongs, this instant."
Maia knew she did not have time to play games. She wasn't sure if the civilians were still living, but she knew they would certainly die if she did not due something. No it was down to business this time. No witty banter, no name exchanges, not that Maia would give hers anyway.
"Sweet Harmony," she called out the music filling her. She sang out sweet notes in a her lovely voice, translucent notes forming and rushing forward to encircle Mica. If she could slow her down the Maia's action would be to put the starseed back, then deal with Mica.

Mica frowned at the ghostly music notes; they certainly didn’t look threatening. Then again, none of the Senshi she had seen at the Halloween free-for-all had looked very threatening, and yet the kept thwarting the Negaverse. When she suddenly began to feel leaden, Mica knew she had been right not to judge on appearances.
It was a feeling she was familiar with, at least to some degree. Her limbs felt heavy, and her fingers were clumsy as she tried to tighten her grasp on the starseed. The disorienting sensation caused her to lose her grip on the star seed, and it seemed to hit the ground in the blink of an eye. That, or Mica was moving in slow motion, which was the more likely case.
Despite her inner calmness, Mica seemed to have developed an unfortunate tick as she reached slowly for the starseed. Her movements and emotions might be serene, but her body was rebelling against the magically-induced sluggishness. Mentally she began to think - in a perfectly bland and impersonal way, of course - of ways to kill the bothersome Senshi, once she had regained full control of her body.

Maia nearly laughed to see the girl moving in such a slow motion, it was like time had slowed down, but only the girl before her. It was rather hilarious. The starseed dropped with click and Maia frowned at the fact that it was no longer in the girl it belonged to. Her frown deepened when the other tried to reach it.
Maia only though was oh no you don't. She charged forward right toward the girl, jumped up and made to kick the black suited nega right in the chest.
Maia thoughts were running full force and her train of thought was to get the starseed back in the girl's body and getting an ambulance to the scene straight away. She did not how long the girl could survive without it, or if she even could. She hardly have a thought to the fact that once the girl regained control of herself she might be a bit vengeful toward Maia.

A leather bodysuit was great for softening little bumps and bruises, but a kick straight to the chest? Yeah, not so much. Mica flew back, hitting the tree behind her with an "oof." As she slid slowly down, she added "seeing black spots" to her list of current problems.
Fortunately, that pesky lethargy was retreating. She eyed the pile of broken glass thoughtfully, but dismissed that idea; she was recovering, but not enough to do something that required such finesse. She would instead have to stick with tried and true. She twirled her cane slowly in her hand - she didn't want to draw the semingly distracted Senshi's attention - before lashing out with the hooked end, hoping to pull her leg from under her.

Maia had reached down to scoop the crystal up and noticed the cane just as she wrapped her fingers around it. Her eyes went wide seeing it so close to her and she attempted to jump back, but the hooked end of the cane caught her heal and focused on holding onto the precious crystal she fell hard to the ground.
Maia groaned a bit having landed on her back and hit her head on the ground. She was clutching the starseed as she rolled over and staggered to her feet. Oh the nega was going to pay for that. She could have cracked Maia's head open.
Maia quickly tucked the crystal into the side of her shoe and glared at the green eyes negabaddie. She now had every intention on kicking the females butt and she hoped her attack would allow her an advantage, but for now she would save it for the right moment.

Lifting her legs, she swung them down, using the momentum to flip herself up and onto her feet. She stood calmly, resting both hands on the top of her cane as she stared at the Senshi. She didn’t look it, but that little maneuver of hers had left her lightheaded and faintly dizzy; apparently recovering from a run-in with a tree took longer then she thought.
As she waited for the dizziness to pass, Mica assessed her options. This Senshi’s attack was helluva annoying, and she had no idea whether or not she could use it again. The Senshi also had the starseed, which was most unfortunate. What to do, what to do…
Dizziness gone, Mica charged forward, gripping her cane tightly. If she couldn’t have the starseed, she certainly didn’t want the Senshi to play the hero. Given half a chance, she’d crack that starseed before it could be returned. Well, assuming they could be broken; she was a bit fuzzy on that issue, but they certainly looked breakable.

Maia watched as the other jumped, her face pulling a frown. She'd hit the tree pretty had and yet she was up and seemingly unharmed. Maia started to egde to the right in an attempt to make her way to the injured girl, but found herself be charged at by the catwomanesque negaverser. Her eyes widened and she ran, trying to get to the girl, but finding thebother had gotten closer to her faster than she had anticipated causing her to jump trying to avoid the blow she knew was coming. All the time hoping the girl wasn't dead.

Her opponent was on the move. A moving target was more difficult to hit, hence why Mica liked to stun or knock out her targets when given the chance. Her momentum was already propelling her forward, so she hunched over slightly, leading with her shoulder as she attempted to smack the lump in the leaping Senshi’s boot. If she missed the starseed she hoped to at least knock the deluded would-be hero.

She jumped up just as she did the cane collided with it target. CRACK! Maia went tumbling, remnants of the shattered starseed falling out to be sprinkled across the grass. Several shards managed to logde themselves into Maia skin and she winced and groans as she stood.
It a moment before she realized what happened gaping at the tiny starseed pieces scattered in the grasses and knowing the girl that lie a feet away had no chance for recovering. A little piece of Maia broke and tears streamed down her face as she looked up to Mica.
She was sad for the life the other had taken and then she was furious, just like that. Mica had done what she did on purpose, no doubt about that, and that was not okay.
Taking her stance, she readied her attack. "I am going to make you pay for that," she hissed out, before calling out her attack. "Sweet Harmony."

And there was that lethargic feeling again. Mica wanted to feel annoyed, but she simply couldn’t. Annoyance would’ve been a waste of energy anyway. How could she expect one of these self-righteous aliens to understand that this was all their fault? Unfortunately, with her limbs now feeling heavy and uncooperative, Mica felt the need to say something, anything, to prove that she wasn’t defeated, even though she’d probably be reintroduced to a tree soon.
“ Your fault.” She muttered under her breath, waiting for the Senshi to attack or for the magic to wear off.
