Relaxing in her room, Alcyone had been watching the water ripple in the multiple fish tanks in her room and day dreaming about various things. She had attended a few new classes in the past few days and there had been a variety of interesting things that had happened. First, she had met a lot of new students but a few things were troubling her. The fact that they had an emergency sex-ed class because of some sort of baby scare sweeping throughout the school was rather interesting. The class made her realize that she had no idea where babies came from and it was just something that never came up at home. Alcyone lived a rather sheltered life before she came to school here. Her mother made sure of that. Though, that's why you were supposed to go to school right?
And another thing that seemed to be bothering her was the fact that close groups of students were already coming together and she could see herself getting lost in everything. She found herself zoning out often and just day dreaming even though she knew that she had better things to do. The water demon needed to get out of this slump. Alcie had always had her brother to turn to when she was in trouble and now that he wasn't here... she was starting to feel lonely. Hopefully she would get to see him soon.

Sin meanwhile had a very different problem, she didn't have any time to zone out or daydream. Her only therapy was shopping, but even maul trips had become less enjoyable. At home she had gone out with her mother and the two had talked fashion, boils, and demon politics. Here she went out alone and hoped that she'd bump into a familiar ghoul at the maul. Her days were spent running from class to class, attending Fearleading practice, ensuring your wardrobe was up to date. Evenings were filled with homework, extra studying, and worrying over her status as a demon. In Halloweentown there were two groups you tried to get to the top of. The first was of course your normal social group, a nice job, a nice home, friends and neighbors, easy. The second was the secret demon society group, where you formed alliances and enemies and you were always trying to claw your way into power while looking innocent to the unsuspecting citizens around you. Okay maybe it wasn't THAT brutal but it probably had been at one point long ago and it probably could be again someday. Sin's parents were demon elite, they knew everyone, they threw lavish parties, and when city council elected mayor or passed a new law her parents usually helped sway votes one way or another. That was what was expected of her, they sent her to school so she could lay the framework for her future. Hopefully the friends she made, the demon friends she made, would help her to remain in the elevated levels of their society. The normal friends she made, that was to say any non-demons were to be carefully selected so that she could blend in and not draw attention to her demon status. It was all horribly complicated and Sin often gave herself headaches just going to class and trying to pick the right seat.
Not today...today she dropped by Alcie's room, Alcie was a demon, so going out to the maul with her shouldn't cause any huge issues. Besides Alcyone was oddly accepting of...everyone and Sin was curious why. Where her parents not as strict, did they just decide to forgo demon conventions? Was Alcyone somehow rebelling and if so why? Still it wasn't polite to grill anyone so Sin would have to use the subtle arts of manipulation and subterfuge that she had been raised in. She flicked her hair back and softly knocked on the water demons door.
"Alcyone? It's me Sin" It helped that they were band-mates, class-mates, almost ghoul-friends. Hopefully after today they would be closer...or she could drive Alcie off. She bit her lip and reminded herself to be nice, who needed that kind of reminder? Obviously she did...

Alcyone came from a rather wealthy and influential demon family also and she wasn't oblivious to a point where she didn't understand where her family stood in the demon society. The problem was that Alcie never understood the demon perspective when it came to hierarchy in Halloweentown. Her parents would only set up play dates with other demons and Alcie never seemed to be curious to the reason why she never had any monster or undead playmates. Before she left for school, Alcie's mother made a point to tell her to make new demon friends and mingle with different demon families. A part of her understood why her mother had asked her to do this but it's not like she told her not to make friends with other students too?
The water demon continued to lie on her bed and she was rolling her lucky stone around between her fingers not really thinking about anything in particular. Then she heard a knock and a familiar voice outside of her door. Raising a brow, Alcie tucked her lucky trinket in its hiding spot and jumped out of bed and quickly opened the door. "Oh Sin! What a surprise. What brings you around here?" Smiling widely at the other demon, Alcyone was surprised how often they had seen each other. She was pretty happy to see Sin at her doorway considering that Alcie didn't have too many friends. It was nice to hang out outside of classes. First, the classes and then the band. That was a lot of time spent together and it felt like she didn't know Sin at all.

She leaned in the doorway as Alcyone opened up and tilted her head swinging her bat-bag lightly at her side.
"I was about to head to the maul for a little light shopping and dinner, wanna come?"
That sounded casual and confident right? It didn't sound like she was desperate for company, just a nice friendly invitation. Jack almighty why did she overthink things so much? Did invitations and greetings just come naturally to others or did they focus on them as much as she did? The good news was that Alcyone didn't look terribly busy, so hopefully she would say yes. If she didn't get a close friend fast things were going to slide downhill, oh she had plenty of random acquaintances, but a friend was different.
She had hoped to become close friends with her fellow fear-leaders but after the little head to head she'd had with Shehk during tryouts...well that hadn't gone quite as planned. Sin was dedicated to the team, but she wasn't exactly best gal-pals with any of them yet.

Alcyone was actually a bit curious as to why Sin was inviting her on a shopping trip considering that Alcie wasn't exactly the most fashionable ghoul on this campus. Though, she didn't like questioning other people's motives because that just made things a lot more complicated. Nodding in response, Alcie agreed, "Yeah sure. Let me get my bag." It's not like she was doing anything at the moment anyway so getting a little fresh air would be nice. She hadn't been to a maul in ages and she hoped that Sin wouldn't ask her opinion on anything... Having mostly male friends when she was younger, Alcie found going to a maul and just hanging out with another ghoul strange in itself. There were a lot of things that Alcie wasn't used to....
Walking towards her bed, Alcie had a small black bag with fin-like tassels adorning it. Something her mother picked out for her to make her be more feminine... Slipping the strap over her shoulder, the water demon walked back towards Sin and smiled once more. "Okay, ready."

"Your fast..." Sin smiled and turned to lead the way, she wasn't used to anyone taking less then twenty minutes to get ready and that was a real rush job. When they arrived at the maul she looked to Alcie, it was only polite to ask her if she'd rather shop first or eat first.
"I was going to have dinner here...did you want to look around first or are you hungry now?" Hopefully the other ghoul would be eager to shop, Sin liked to work up an appetite after a dressing room marathon. She had to check all her favorite shops and of course do a little window shopping to see if anything caught her eye.
Ah the dresses, the shoes, the jewelry! It was all exquisite and always more and newer and sales galore. She knew every store in the maul, and she even had her favorite dressing rooms picked out, the best mirrors, and nicest lighting. Yes there was an art to shopping and Sin was skilled, yet practiced often to keep sharp.

Giggling slightly, Alcie wasn't what you called a 'girlie girl' and she didn't need to get ready every time she left her room. Plus, she didn't like making people wait on her so it was just easier to grab her things and go. "Sure, shopping is good to work up an appetite. You pick where you want to go considering you invited me." Again, the reason for the invitation was beyond what Alcie could understand but she still wasn't going to question in. Maybe she could make a new friend and Alcie was aware of Sin's influential family so that would keep her mother happy.
Gazing around at the different shops, Alcie wasn't sure what looked good on her and what colors matched well. She kind of wished that she had listened to her mother when she was babbling on about current fashion and different designers and such... Everything was really pretty though; Alcie was still a girl and couldn't help but be dazzled by all the different clothes and jewelry.

"You don't have any favorite stores?" Sin asked curiously surprised yet again by how modest Alcie seemed to be. Maybe she just hadn't been raised in all the hulabaloo that Sin had been. It had all been so tiring and school had seemed like the best escape ever...until she realized it was just another pre-courser too more demon ins and outs. Except at school there was a new factor, different races and trying to juggle friends, alliances, enemies, oh and let's not forget actually making top grades in classes...while looking fabulous. It was more tiring then the endless charity balls, fashion shows, and private tutors had ever been.
She paused at a window where a tight blue miniskirt with a swirling crystal pattern was on display and pointed it out. "You would look amazing in that..." She glanced at Alcie, yes the girl could probably pull off any shade of blue and then some.

Shaking her head slightly, Alcie wasn't sure if it was a good or bad thing that she really didn't go shopping all too often. "Not really. I only went with the mall with my mother and even then, she would handle all of the shopping." Alcie couldn't help but remember all of the occasions and things her parents put her through when she was younger. Surprisingly, she wasn't all too different from Sin in that respect. Though to her mother's dismay, Alcie really didn't show too much interest in the same things that she liked which was shopping and socializing.
Pausing as Sin did to gaze into the window, Alcie stared wide-eyed at the blue skirt and couldn't help but smile. "Oh. It's very pretty." She was definitely a sucker for blue but fashion really wasn't her thing. Alcie knew what she liked and definitely liked pretty things but that was about as far as her fashion sense went. Looking back at Sin and feeling that she was slightly out of her element, Alcie tried to turn the conversation around. "What are your favorite stores to shop in, Sin?" Maybe she could learn a few things from Sin and the other demon was definitely somebody that her mother would like.

"I used to go shopping with my mother all the time as well, never shop alone! Thats what she always told me. You should have someone who can honestly tell you if something looks horrid on you." She laughed and shook her head glancing back at Alcie. "Except I could never tell my mother she looks bad in anything, she always made it work somehow. She could probably make a burlap bag look good." She turned back and smiled glad to have Alcie's company.
"Oh well I know it's a total vampire store, but Forever 2001 is one of my favorite stores. They have everything in black and I adore black it goes with everything. Injustice has something nice every once in a while, Maysees has amazing dresses...I think it's a chain owned by seers so of course they always know what's up and coming in fashion."
She led them into Expresssss where a gorgon saleswoman tried to lure them towards a sale table. Sin thumbed through the racks and then looked over at Alcie half curious. "I haven't had a chance to really mingle with a lot of other demons..." It was a casual starter into the conversation she really wanted to have. Didn't Alcie want to have demon alliances as well, or was she just clueless to the subtle politics of their race? Had she applied to Lucky 13, or was she unaware of the clubs existence? Sin had been relieved when her acceptance had come, there was talk of a party, and some subtle recruiting. Maybe she could join up with Alcie and host a little demon fete.

Giggling, Alcie was sure that Sin's good looks ran in the family and that the Succubus wasn't kidding when she said that her mother could make anything work. "Haha. Looking good all of the time must be nice." Alcie didn't think that she was particularly good looking and it's not like she got extra attention from the opposite sex that would make her think any different. Though, she was too enraptured with her own problems to really care what others thought of her. Pausing, Alcie recalled hearing most of these store names before but she was hardly articulate in the types of clothing that each one had. Hopefully Sin wouldn't think differently of her because she wasn't adept at stuff like this.
"My mother has taken me to some of those places before and I think I've shopped at Maysees for sure." Gosh. This conversation was delving a little too deep into the fashion world and Alcie was feeling even more out of her element. Following Sin into Expresssss, Alcie looked around at the different clothes on display wondering if Sin could pull off any look just like her mother. Probably. Chuckling to herself, Alcie responded to her comment, "Oh, nor have I really... As you saw when you came by my room, I haven't really gotten close with any other students let alone demons in particular. Though, I really should start getting involved and talking with other demons." She spoke nonchalantly knowing that her mother would particularly like her to meet more demons. Alcie didn't want to say anything about that quite yet because she wasn't sure if Sin's family was the same way.

"Oh...I don't know, after a while everyone just expects you to look good and they take it for granted." She pulled out a tight black corset style top and examined it with a critical eye. Then she put it back and tried to think of how to pull Alcie a bit deeper into the topic of demons.
"You know...my mother says it's important to meet other demons, form...friendships early on." Okay those weren't the exact words, alliance was the word her father had used. Bonds was the word her mother used, neither was exactly a friendship. Sin was fine with having bonds and alliances but she wanted some friends too.
"You and I should host a party, a demon get together ya know?" She looked at Alcie trying to gauge her reaction.

Continuing to observe all of the different styles and tops available, Alcie casually responded to her shopping buddy. "My mother says that too. Actually, she kept reminded me constantly before I left for school." Chuckling once more, Alcie recalled the multiple conversations they had had while she was packing about how she needed to mingle and get close to other demon students. Was this what her mother was talking about? Was she supposed to form some sort of contrived relationship with demons like Sin? This may be true but Alcie did want relationships with substance so that she could actually have friends. The water demon had quickly realized that she could have this kind of relationship with Sin even though they were very different personalities.
These realizations slowly came to her as Sin was talking and then she looked at Sin carefully. " 'Friendships' right? I think I know what you mean and it's something my parents told me to... look into while I was here at school. Though to be honest, I don't completely buy into the whole mentality." Frowning slightly, Alcie wasn't sure how much she wanted to divulge about this topic and she had never had a close friend before besides her brother. It made her uneasy to be revealing personal information about herself but Sin seemed to be trustworthy from what they had been through together.
Finishing her thought, Alcie returned her attention to the clothing picking up a black lacy top wondering where in the world she would ever wear it.

So Alcie's parents probably did believe in the demon elite, or at least some elite class. Even if they didn't they still didn't want Alcie to completely ignore the subtle politics of simply being a demon. Sin's mother had warned her of all the terrible things that could happen to a demon outcast. It didn't sound good at all, everything from mere social shunning to becoming reaper fodder. Sin did not want to end up some unknown in the corner, she had been born into a wealthy and privileged home, but she knew that all privileges could be lost.
She turned back to Alcie trying to keep her focus, Alcie wasn't in Lucky 13, Sin was almost certain now. She would have known for starters, but Alcie's words about not buying into the mentality were what confirmed it.
"Sometimes...you just have to go along with the way things are..." She murmured softly looking lost in thought for a moment. Sin didn't know exactly what she believed in anymore she was half demon elite, half monster lover. She felt bad for the others for the monsters, and ghosts, and especially the unwanted undead. Yet, she liked that demons were usually on top, who didn't want to be on top?
"I know what you mean though Alcie, but meeting the rest of the schools demon students really wouldn't hurt. It might even help, we might find some new friends, real friends." She had to add that last part, she didn't want Alcie to think she was just using her as an alliance. Sin genuinely liked the water demon, she was open, friendly, and humble, a contrast that Sin found refreshing and pleasant to be around.

Aware of most of the underlying demon subtleties, Alcie knew that she needed to maintain appearances while she was at school so she knew that Sin was right. She needed to stop being a social outcast and get to it before it was too late. First impressions were nigh impossible to change and she didn't want to get a reputation of being a monster lover among the demon crowd. School could be hell as it was and she knew that a reputation like that would only ruin things even more. "I know."
Alcie had thought long and hard about her position on demon politics and she's finally come to a decision. "I'll play this game that we're stuck in but that doesn't mean I believe in it." Shrugging, Alcie didn't feel like she had the power to rebel quite yet though the idea had been simmering in her mind for awhile now. Alcie was still young and her ideals are constantly subject to change. Perhaps she would fit in with the demon crowd and her stance on this might change someday but who could guess.
"If... that makes any sense." Giggling once again, Alcie felt like the conversation was getting a bit serious. Though she didn't mind, she is naturally a light-hearted ghoul. "But I completely agree. I think that a demon gathering would be good and I would love to help you co-host it if that's what you're asking me." The water demon had been sifting through the rest of the tops on the sale table as she spoke. When she finished, she looked up and smiled at Sin hoping that she wasn't wrong to believe the other demon. Alcie obviously had trust issues.
