How long had it been since he'd actually stayed at his own apartment? The short answer of course was longer than he'd realized. Haevan had always made a point of paying for his portion of rent...but with one thing after another happening it had lost the same lustrous quality. Some how the place seemed emptier then it should have..not that he really knew why.
Months had gone by since Noe's return. The wolf hyte had managed to land a job as a magazine photographer. Idly he'd rather have been working to help people..but at least he was doing something he genuinely enjoyed. Hell anything was better then the convince store..
Walking up the old familiar steps he fumbled around for his keys, shuffling inside. Surprised by the lack of sound, the wolf's ears perked listening. "Is 'any 'un home?" he called, white paw clutched on the door handle.

As was the usual these days, Seth was studying at his desk while Ruby laid perched comfortably on his shoulder. At the sound of keys jangling outside, both Hyte and firelizard looked up. "In here!" Seth called out, glad to hear a familiar voice. The crimson let out a happy chirrup as he stood and padded out of his room to greet the other. "Hey there," he said with a smile. "Long time no see."
Sadly, in this case it wasn't just an expression. Even though they technically lived together and Haevan kept up his half of the rent, they hardly ever saw each other. Most of the time Seth just had the apartment to himself.

The wolf hadn't..ever intended to stay away so long. Maybe it had something to do with the maelstorm of one thing after another, dealing with trying to get his life in order and things with his family/clan always seemed to have him running around like a mad man.
Whatever the actual reason was, it didn't mean Haevan didn't care. Oh, it was quiet the opposite. You never forgot friends, especially ones you'd been threw thick and thin with.
Maybe it was this very notion that led to the conclusion things were off. The apartment...just wasn't either of there home anymore. "Oi!" he smiled at the others emerging, and blinked curiously at the appearance of the little red lizard vaguely recalling having seen it before. At the friendly little chirp, he replied with a sort of half huff like sound tail wagging.
"Eet's been..ages." he sighed, ears laying back guilt replacing his happy expression. "How..are things?" Haevan shrugged his bag off his shoulder and padded over to give the other a hearty hug before taking a seat close by.

"It has been," Seth agreed, not trying to increase the other's guilt any, but merely stating a fact. As the wolf Hyte took a seat he himself sat down on the arm of the couch. "Things have been better, but going alright all things considered. How about you? Busy with work?" Ruby trilled lightly from his shoulder, and he gave the firelizard a small pat. "Ah, I suppose you haven't seen Ruby too much, have you. She was sort of a gift from mom." 'Sort of' being because she had actually been elf's originally, but had become so attached to him for whatever reason that his mother had insisted he take her for his own. He had been very reluctant on the matter at first, but over time had grown used to the small crimson's company.
