D'lin found himself enjoying the early night hours as he ambled along with Plexith, the newly adult bronze sometimes wandered alongside him and other times soared about overhead. Tensions had been strong in the Weyr lately with this whole Mystweed ordeal and it was nice to just take a bit of time and relax.
'Watch where you are going mine, it is getting dark' Came Plexith's voice, the dragon was currently flying overhead and D'lin paused momentarily to look up at his great flying bulk before replying mentally 'I'm fine Plexy, the moon gives off enough light to see by'
'Plexith' came the dragons miffed reply and D'lin smiled sightly to himself 'If you say so mine but there is a girl up ahead' 'what? Where?' 'Thought you said it was light enough to see...' 'Don't be a smartass Plexith' D'lin remarked to his bronze peering ahead to spot the supposed girl and half thinking Plexith might be having him on.

Lilias sat outside her bunk room, fiddling with a block of lovely reddish wood. She kept placing her knife to it holding it there for a second then with a sigh she changed her mind and removed the knife, only to again repeat the process again in a few moments. She crossed her eyes and tried to think of something to carve. She stared into her room at the pile of fish carvings and decided it definitely wasn't going to be another one of them. If only she had a model of something to look off of....

it wasn't long before an outline appeared before him and as D'lin stepped closer it quickly resolved itself into the girl Plexith had mentioned earlier'Told you' Came the dragons pleased remark and D'lin rolled his eyes a little bit at his partners typical desire to prove the right one in any situation.
She was sitting outside what he assumed to be her dwellings in the weyr and he might have just continued on past her if Plexith - deciding that his needed more interaction with others - hadn't swooped down in a great rush of wings and wind to settle on the ledge in front of her and tilt his great bronze head to peer at her with whirling green and blue eyes 'Tell her hello' prompted the dragon. D'lin sighed 'you probably just scared the heck out of her' he scolded the bronze mentally before offering the girl an apologetic look "Sorry about that...Plexith wanted to say hello" He told her
'That is not what I meant...' Objected Plexith and D'lin smiled 'I know'.

Lilias looked up to see a man walking toward her in the darkness. That was fine people could walk, what she slightly objected to was the tiny girlish squeak that her own mouth emitted when a great bronze shadow plopped down right in front of her, cocked his head and started to stare. When she realized it was a dragon her heart started up again and she relaxed visibly and returned his stare with a respectful nod and gazed into his beautiful eyes, almost forgetting the rider who snapped her back to attention when he spoke. "Oh thats fine, I'm honored that he found me worthy enough to be brought to his attention." Lilias smiled at the bronze rider who she could now see in the light from a nearby glow basket was actually quite handsome. Handsome dragon, handsome rider, it made perfect sense, if a little startling on the middle of the night. She offered the man a seat, ( on the dirt because she didn't have anything else), with a motion of her arm. The block of would lay nearly forgotten in her hands.

D'lin was rather used to people ignoring him when Plexith was around - the bronze was far more commanding in presence then he was and D'lin didn't mind that one bit - he was exceptionally proud of the fine dragon Plexith had grown up to be. Patting Plexith's nose while he waited for the girls attention to return.
Taking the offered seat while Plexith trilled his approval D'lin shook his head slightly "Plextih likes to meet everyone, and he doesn't think I spend enough time socializing" He told her with a chuckle. He assumed the girl was a candidate - though she must be a new one because he didn't recall her from his standing and that had been the last clutch. "I'm D'lin" He introduced himself "And thats Plexith" Though he'd already mentioned the dragon name it seemed proper to introduce him formally anyways. "Whats got you sitting out here in the middle of the night?"

" A pleasure to meet you both, my name is Lilias, and i have an itch to carve something," she held up her block of wood pointedly. " But sadly i was at a loss at what exactly I was going to carve."She jestured behind her at the pile of carved fish,"but definitely not one of those". Lilias gazed at the dragon again, the wheels finally turning in her head. "Hey D'lin she asked would you mind, and more importantly would he mind, if I based my carving on Plexith? He would make the perfect model for a magnificent caving, i can even do relief work for his markings if I'm careful."

Lilia's that was a pretty name, D'lin thought to himself though he was far to shy to actually tell her that, obediently he eyed the piece of wood and then twisted around to look at the carvings she gestured to 'Hey, those are really good" He complimented her sincerely, he wasn't too shy to tell her something like that, he'd hated his time as a smith but he'd developed a like for fine craftsmanship..any craftsmanship along the way.
At her question Plexith whom had huddled his head down to look at the carvings also seemed to appreciate them 'They look good enough to eat' He approved, he'd developed a taste for some fish along the way, which was somewhat annoying given the sheer number it took to fill him up. But Plexith was finicky when it came to food and saying something looked good enough to eat was fairly high praise from the dragon so D'lin passed it on "Plexith say's they look good enough to eat he told her" and then because it seemed more polite to do so he asked Plexith out loud if he would mind her carving him "What do you think Plexith, want her to make a carving of you?"
In respone Plexith regarded Lilias for a few moments before blowing gently 'As long as she doesn't make me look like a fish' He remarked in a tone which made D'lin think the dragon was secretly quite pleased to be considered for such a thing "I think your 'magnificent' description won him over" D'lin told Lilias "He says yes...as long as he doesn't look like a fish"

Lilias burst out laughing. "Of course I wont make you look like a fish, how could you say that. Oh and by the way if he likes fish, (to eat, not to look like), I'm better at catching them then I am at carving them." she laughed again. "I am, was,an apprentice fishcrafter." "And thank you for the compliment Plexith, although these fish my taste a bit wooden." And so she began inspecting the wood for a good starting place, and finally choosing one, asked D'lin what pose his dragon would prefer. As she trimmed the rough edges of the block off.

'I do like fish' Plexith confirmed with a smug look at D'lin "Now you've done it" He told Lilias "Now he's going to be showing up and begging fish from you whenever there isn't a herd beast to his liking" It was really quite absurd Plexith and his eating habits - I mean really who ever heard of a picky Dragon? While most of his clutch mates were more then happy to scar down whatever was presented to them - except maybe Scarath who liked spices and such - Plexith demanded only the best and it could be challenging to find a 'best' that appealed to him from time to time.
'Well she offered'' Plexith pointed out, blowing out a small huff at his partner. 'Yes but that doesn't mean you can pester her all the time' D'lin pointed out to his dragon mentally. 'I don't know anything about carving wood'' fussed Plexith 'How do I know what to pick?'
"He says he doesn't know anything about carving, so I guess we'll leave the pose up to you" He told her with a chuckle. "I was a smith before being searched, do you miss your time as a fishcrafter?"

"Yes I do, i miss my teo brothers and I miss the sea the salt and the brine. but at least i have fish here, and dragons and firelizards, it is reallly quite beautiful in our Weyr. And to be perfectly honest I'd rather fish for your draogon then fight with glowbaskets and peeling tubers." she laughed again and began to shave slivers of wood off the block in her hands. soon a basic dragon shape began to form. She shaped him as he appeared when he had just flown doen in front of her intense and curious with his head tilted to one side.

' There you see she doesn't mind' Plexith injected with a smug tone, of course it made perfect sense to him, who in their right mind would object to doing something for a bronze? Especially a bronze as clearly wonderful as he was. Why it was a wonder he didn't have hordes of lady dragons and humans alike trailing after him. 'Getting a bit cocky there aren't you?' D'lin question his dragon as he caught the jist of his thoughts.
'Not at all' countered the bronze confidently, faceted eyes whirling with curiosity as he watched this carving take shape. "That's understandable" D'lin told Lilias "I missed my family I suppose, though not so much my craft, I've never been on a boat, I've heard it can make you ill"

"Well yes it can but that passes...eventually, one must stay away from to many waves, and some people never get seasick. I have never had it, but one of my brothers did, he turned quite green for a while." Lilias continued shaped and molding the block of wood slowly into a miniature replica of the proud bronze before her, she could think of no better way to spend the night. Finally something to do... besides chores. And her intent model was really quite fascinating, with truly unique markings for a bronze. he was probably the prettiest she had seen up close, of course that wasn't many. bronzes didn't usually bother with new candidates, more so if they were female. But she adored the company of these two. The quietly handsome rider and the curious and forward dragon.

'I'm sure it can't be any worse then how jittery you used to get when we first started flying' Plexith piped up in a humorous tone, and in the way of bronzes and their penchant for doing what they wished when they so wished to do it he surprised D'lin by expanding his words to let Lilias hear them as well.
"Yes..thank you for bringing that up Plexith" D'lin remarked out loud in a dry voice though an undercurrent of amusement was there to show he really wasn't mad at the beast at all - so he'd been a bit nervous at first, did you see how high dragons flew? Anyone in their right minds should be! "Maybe I should try a boat sometime" He pondered "I don't think anyone in my families even been on one - they're sort of the stay at home type"

Lilias stared at the big dragon. "Was that you talking?' she asked and sat there quite stunned. Then she recalled herself and again addressed D'lin. "Boats are rather lovely, but if your nervous get yourself on a big one, less chance of panic or trouble that way. I don't mind heights but I really dislike navigation, i can never picture the map right in my head. I can see easily where i want to go but can't define it on a map easily. It has lead to many headaches and my master laughing that "I couldn't find my foot on a map if I was standing on top of it." Lilias had begun the relief markings on the carving detailing Plexith's unique butterfly-like patterns.

'Of course it was' Plexith confirmed and D'lin shrugged slightly "Just wait until you impress, they never stop talking then" He teased the bronze who turned his head to give his rider a look and huffed slightly before turning his attention back to Lilias and her carving.
"I don't think I'd be nervous on the water" He hazarded a guess " I just wasn't so fond of heights. Flying was a bit nerve wracking at first but Plexith is a fine flyer and we're fine now" Though if he was truthful his heart still fluttered a bit when they dove. Studying the carving which was taking shape in her hands he had to smile "That's really good, looks just like him" He complimented
