Lilias finished her chores as quickly as she could and scrambled down to the lake almost forgetting her net and fishing pole as she went. There she began to fish ahead of time as she had to feed a bronze, A BRONZE. was more like it as bronzes were very big by dragon standards. She giggled at herself.

Practice had gone a bit longer then they had anticipated and D'lin had barely managed to squeak a few sweetrolls out of the kitchen before Plexith bugling his impatience outside had demanded they go to the beach right NOW. "I'm coming I'm coming" He told the dragon before clambering aboard with his rolls wrapped in a cloth.
'You can't be all that hungry' he bespoke the beast as Plexith took to the air 'You ate not to long ago' He pointed out - recalling well the trouble the bronze had had in picking out a suitable herd beast.'It was a small herdbeast' Plexith complained 'I just want a snack that's different' He continued in a firm tone. 'Alright..alright, just don't make her fish forever okay? That would be mean' He reminded the dragon as the beach came into view.
'I will not be greedy or mean' Plexith promised solemnly and D'lin patted his neck a they descended to land a bit away from where Lilias was fishing - they hadn't wanted to spray her with sand and such after all, sliding off with his pack - where Plexith's scrub brush was sticking out a bit ponderously they ambled the rest of the way towards her. "Sorry were a bit late, practice ran long" He explained once they'd gotten close enough.

"Thats alright, it allowed me to get ahead of the game a bit", she pointed to sizable pile of fish beside the lake, "See? nothing to worry yourself over. Good afternoon Plexith", she addressed the dragon. And swiftly flung the net over her shoulder at the brightly colored school she had spotted out of the corner of her eye. She went to examine her catch and sighed. "Only two, well better luck next time I suppose." She grinned at the rider and his dragon, she loved fishing." So how was practice?" she asked.

Plexith rumbled his pleasure at the pile of fish - and D'lin supposed it was a greeting of sort as well though the bronze had already started rooting about in the pile of fish 'Try not to be too picky' D'lin urged Plexith in a hopeful tone though the bronze seemed inclined to ignore him for the moment and continued almost delicately picking through the fish - well delicate for a dragon anyways
Giving Lilias a wan smile "Plexith says hello" He told her as she flung the net and then went over to see what she'd caught - D'lin honestly hadn't even noticed what she was throwing the net at until she'd already done it, he supposed that was just something you developed an eye for. 'Practice was good - mostly it's allot of repeating this or that but I guess thats how you learn such things..just do it over and over again until you don't have to think about it anymore."

"Believe me my friend I know, you know how long it took me to be able to throw this thing according to my master's idea of perfection, 3 years and it was the second year that I actually caught anything whatsoever." She waggled the now empty net, having tossed the single fish she though was big enough for the bronze to bother with. "Thats a lot of throwing to get it to expand and enfold at the right moment, accounting for the wind and the water skewing the image, honestly I at one point seriously considered burning it one night. I was so fed up." she laughed. "But it all worked out in the end, now I almost don't have to look." She smiled at D'lin, he had a wonderful personality, and was quietly handsome, which she liked, no peacock flouncing with him. "Hey Plexith, find anything you like yet? Is there a specific type you like?"

D'lin smiled a bit as Lilias went on about her craft, he could relate he supposed recalling the hours and hours he'd spent learning things in the forge before he'd been searched - though he guessed that Lilias had enjoyed her craft far more then he had. She'd already admitted to missing it while he himself had practically thrown an inner party at the thought of leaving it behind. 'And now you will never have to return Mine' cooed Plexith as he caught the last bit of D'lins thoughts and D'lin smiled 'you did save me from that' He bespoke the bronze affectionately.
'Tell her I like these ones' Plexith continued on, seemingly back on the subject of his snack and prodding at a largish grey colored one that to D'lin's eye looked just the same as many of the other fish in the pile "Well Plexith definitely appreciates all the practicing you did" He told Lilias with a slight chuckle "He says he likes..those ones" He answered, pointing out the fish Plexith had indicated

"Ahh, good those are a challenge to catch, it will keep my skills sharp." she wandered off a bit and switched from net to rod and line. "D'lin?" she asked. "could you toss me one of the smaller, still flopping ones to use as bait, perhaps that little ornge one, please? The fish he likes are easier to catch if they get to eat something else. It's harsh but true." "By the way I heard there was a hatching at Malvren, did you hear anything about it?"

Obligingly D'lin glanced down at the quickly shrinking pile of fish, it seemed there were more then one type that Plexith liked enough to actually eat - which considering his finicky appetite was something of a miracle really. Maybe he should have tried to get the bronze to try fish sooner.
'They are quite good' Plexith commented to his lifemate 'Though not as fun to chase as a wherry' He continued. 'well thats because your not doing the chasing' D'lin bespoke the bronze before leaning down to pick up a small flopping fish, holding it by the tail with two fingers as he brought it over to Lilias
Plexith lifted his head to glance quizzically at Lilias and her fishing pole 'I don't think I could,it is such an odd way of hunting' 'well we don't all have wings and claws and fangs' D'lin pointed out with a laugh and then explained to Lilias "Plexith believes we have strange hunting methods..though I've pointed out that we don't have the luxury of claws, fangs or wing"

"That we don't," she giggled at how the bronze rider was holding the poor fish. And she cupped her hands underneath his to catch the thing before it went splat. They were slimy gitts, fish were, Lilias checked for spins and seeing none, dug her fingers into the gill slots. A fisherman's trick to ensure the lest slippage. Then Lilias stuffed the hook rather gruesomely into the fish and dragged the hook out of the body cavity to point toward the fishes mouth. "But we make up for the loss of teeth scales and such with our intelligence and craftyness and most importantly our hands, how else to scratch all those dragon itches?"

D'lin smiled "Something I'm sure Plexith would be incredibly lost without" He both told Lilias and teased his dragon who rumbled a hearty agreement at such a statement 'Though I am sure you would find a way to scratch me anyways' He added, arching his neck to regard them both with a prideful look.
"He says we'd find a way to scratch him anyways" He shared with Lilias, wincing slightly as she stuffed the hook down the fish's gullet, before he caught himself - sheesh you'd think he wouldn't even blink about such things anymore considering that of all things Plexith liked to eat the brains.yes the brains of his kills first...but once the bronze was old enough to make his own kills D'lin had tried to keep his distance from the more gruesome of the sights, though he tried to make it seem casual - lest he have to endure some ribbing from the other riders. Big bad bronze rider with a queasy stomach...he could just hear it now.

Lilias saw the wince. "Its alright we each have our sensitivities, for example I've recently discovered I hate tunnelsnakes. But I've been fishing all my life so it doesn't bug me at all," she gestured to the hook and fish. "Well as long as they are not rotten, ugh I just can't stand the smell if they are." she promptly turned green at the thought. To distract herself she flung the bait out into the water and let it flop uncerimoniosly in its death throws, while it attracted the attention of the rest of the lake. And soon she was wrestling with none other than one of the BIG silver fish. "Uh she squeaked D'lin could you help me please, she was being slowly dragged toward the water, as the sand was not giving her much traction, "I didn't realize they came this big.." Her pantlegs were now getting wet.

"Just don't tell the other Riders and Candidates" D'lin remarked with a smile "And i can't say I'm all that fond of any rotten smell, don't know of anyone who is" He mused, glancing at Plexith where he sat still daintily picking his way through the fish - of which there was noticeably quite a few less then before - "Except perhaps the tanners..they work with all sorts of nasty things tanning their hides and don't seem bothered by it much at all.." He let his words trail off suddenly as Lilias let out a Squeak.
'Mine! She is being dragged away!' Plexith rumbled, his giant bronze head swiveling in Lilias direction as his eyes wheeled in worry "Don't even think about it Plexith, I've got it" D'lin warned his dragon before he started bugling for help or some such thing and darted over to where Lilias was still making steady progress into the water, grabbing her about the waist to keep her from being dragged any further with one hand while reaching to help steady the pole with his other.
Seemingly only semi-satisfied Plexith was watching them with wheeling eyes and wings half spread, as though he was ready to snatch them up himself...or tear apart the fish, it was somewhat hard to tell which. Thankfully the fish didn't seem strong enough to pull both of them toward the water even in the slippery sand. "Well...fishing is a bit more exciting then I thought it was going to be..." D'lin remarked

Lilias laughed in relief. "Now you know why I like it so much, I've only had a fish this big on the line once before and that was only on the ocean, I didn't realize that they would ever get this big in the lake." she started to take slow steps back on the sand, careful not to step on D'lin. "perhaps it would be best if we just backed this one up right out of the water." The fish could now be seen writhing at he surface, a huge silvery monster that was almost big enough for a good dragon sized appetite, (well perhaps a small dragon). As the brute was pulled up on shore, Lilias was in no danger of being made to swim for it so she said. " Thank you D'lin, I really wouldn't have been able to do it by myself, and that is my favorite rod," she glanced at the fish, "Good grief look at the size of those teeth, I'll have to knock him out before I get my hook out." she glanced at the jittery bronze, "Really Plexith, I'm all right, I would have eventually let go of the rod... I think," she smiled. She grinned at D'lin again. "I really do like it."

D'lin tried to keep out of the way and help her pull the fish out of the water at the same time, which given how little he knew about fishing he was sure he was more of a bother then a help honestly. Still it was nice of her to say he'd helped and now that they were back a bit and clearly in no further danger of being dragged off Plexith had settled somewhat...though he insisted on padding over to inspect the both of them up close, prodding them with his giant muzzle before D'lin soothed him by scratching his eye ridges.
'This fishing is very dangerous' The dragon concluded though his eyes began to slow at the scratching and return to their typical content coloration. "I don't think it's dangerous all the time Plexith" D'lin commented out-loud with a tolerant smile "And as Lilias said she would just just let go of the rod..I doubt she would have let herself drown" He continued.
'Of course not! And I would have saved her before that' The bronze declared with his typical bronze pride, because clearly no one could be a better saviour then a bronze..well except maybe his rider of course. "And I'm sure you would have been an excellent rescuer" He told the dragon with an affectionate pat before looking back to the fish "I didn't even know that had teeth like that"

Lilias giggled happily, as the bronze inadvertently tickled her with his inspection of her well being. "D'lin is right I wouldn't have drowned and I have every confidence that you would bravely save me if it came near to that." she smiled at the concerned bronze dragon. "And fishing is not always dangerous, just when they bite of more than I can chew so to speak. I feel sorry for that little orange fellow." Disaster averted, Lilias went and kneeled on the big fish with her knees and stuck her had through the gill cover to fish for the hook, because there was NO way she was going too close to those awful teeth. She blindly manuevered the hook until she could pull on the line and the hook popped right out. There was no sign whatsoever of the bait. But at least Plexith would have something to chew on more substantial that the little guppies that she had pulled out before. "There you go, see Plexith a nice big gray one, although today I think I will stick to little ones for a while. Perhaps next time we may again try a big one but I will be sure to at least tie it to a rock, so D'lin doesn't have to save me again.
