NaNoWriMo, if I recall correctly, is short for "National Novel Writing Month," and it happens every year on the midnight signifying the start of November. NaNoWriMo is probably exactly what you think it is. People who participate in NaNoWrimo write a novel that is around 50000 words long, certainly no less (because that's just lame, IMO). And, it must be finished by midnight of November 30. And the only people who will care about how your novel is, or the only people who SHOULD care, are you, you, and you.
What's the catch? There is none! Just write a 50000 word novel by the deadline. Content means nothing, so long as there's a sufficient amount of it! Of course, if you were to start now (and I mean at the time this thread came into existence), you'd be pretty screwed, and probably crying buckets because you most likely won't make it. A majority of the people who start on November 1 don't make it, so you'll have to try again next year. Or, you can try now and just have fun with it.
Because that's what we do. Remember: if you at least try, you're a pretty cool guy who doesn't afraid of anything.

*headdesk* I'm totally not gonna make it. My vocabulary abandons me whenever I need it, and I tend to spend days on the little details of each of the characters, simply because I imagine them as my children. Really cheap, strange, omnipotent, or ironic children. I'm doing this for a bunch of reasons!
1. I'm an English major. Not that this is much of a reason, I say.
2. It's like RPing, but by yourself! (Dear lord, that sounds sad and lonely. Like me, kweh~)
3. It's the only form of art I'm moderately good at. And only moderately. If you catch me sketching, drawing, painting, or whatever, take that art utensil away from me NOW.
....there's more, but I stopped trying to remember them. And I don't remember where I was going with this. >_>
