It was cold and windy, the rivers were slowly freezing over and it had been cloudy for days. Samael was stocking up on food, having dried out some fish he caught that were still in the waters and had stored them in Nyx's den so they could all eat and hopefully have enough for the pup if he or she should come out during the harshest part of the snow fall.
Which it was, the snow was falling and blanketing the quiet reserve in white, cold powder. Samael was trotting to Nyx's den, not having any luck locating any fish to catch that day, but it was getting darker and colder and he didnt' feel up to staying up outside for much longer.
When he got to the entrance, he looked about cautiously and then slinked inside the covered entrance, desperate to warm himself up.

Nyx found herself highly grateful these days, the weather had taken a turn for the worse, and well she felt it best to keep the little clam that she had grown so fondly of within the den. This however, would have caused great problems if it hadn't been for Samael, whom she found herself growing more and more fond of each passing day. Which in some ways only made her more confused but she was starting to figure things out, now only if she knew how he felt then all confusion could very easily be cleared.
However, Nyx wasn't exactly certain how to approach the topic, sure she was direct but she didn't exactly see it right in finding things out in the means of questioning. Maybe soon though she could maybe figure it out, and she knew the sooner the better really. Afterall, there was a pup on the way.
After spending much time lost in thought about those exact things, while curled up around the little clam, she heard Samael enter the den. She knew now that it was him by the simple sound of how his gate of his paws hit the floor of the den. Though the first couple of times it certainly had sent her on edge and towards the deep end.
Lifting her head up in his direction she smiled at him, in a way that only he seemed to bring about whenever he was around. Noticing that todays hunt had been less then successful she inwardly sighed because she knew the weather was only getting worse, but she also knew that their supply that he had been gathering would hold them a while still.
"Hello Sammy Boy," she purred at him and then gestured for him to come and lay to get warm, knowing it had to be quiet cold outside especially where it was more likely late in the day.

Samael stopped at the entrance and shook the snow off his body, flapping his wings to get the blood pumping in the thin appendages. He knew he couldn't control it if most of the fish and other prey left the reserve waters when the temperature dropped, but he couldn't help but feel disappointed in himself that he couldn't bring anything home....he meant Nyx's den!
But his feelings of disappointment and guilt quickly left when the female greeted him and smiled at him, feeling himself warm up quickly with the feelings he still didn't want to put a name on quite yet. "Hey Nyxy. Sorry I didn't bring anything back, harder to find anything really moving in the waters." he admitted, making his way over to laying down close.

Smiling she sighed lightly, "I know my l-....SAMMY... I know it's fine afterall, you've done so great in pulling together the store that we have gotten, I certainly wouldn't have been able to do this good without you. And Sybil should be by in a few days time with a care package from Dark as well."
She said to him all while her thoughts suddenly rushing like mad through her mind, *was I really about to say THAT?!, please oh please don't question it... let there have been enough conversation there to take the place of thought away from that...*
Though she did wish he had come and laid closer, she always lo-...enjoyed when he would curl up around her and the clam, it always seemed to bring a bit more warmth to the den around them.

Samael did hear Nxy's little slip up, but he honestly didn't know what she was going to say. But he decided not to ask, instead he groomed at his tail, the fur still a bit wet and he didn't want to catch a cold because he still had cold water on him.
He smiled when he say Sybil was coming back soon, but that probably meant he would have to leave soon, the den wasn't going to be big enough for two elder otters, an adult angelic and a clam. "Well, hopefully I can find fish at another river. But it's snowing now, so I don't know how the waters will be." he said, laying his head down.

Noting that he wasn't going to move any closer she decided to rest her head down on her paws once more, and close her eyes, though she was far from asleep.
"You know... with the care package Sybil will be bringing here, there probably won't be much more need to continue to hunt the cold waters, after all I rather not see you catch a cold. There should be enough food and maybe even a blanket or two to help with the really cold nights."
As she said this it was as if a chill came over her at the thought of such nights and she shivered ever so slightly.

He looked at her with half closed eyes, but a frown slowly went on his muzzle when she mentioned there wouldn't be a need to keep hunting anymore. He closed his eyes and rolled to his side, his back to her so he couldn't see the emotion he couldn't stop from showing on his face, "Well, I guess that will be my cue to head back to my own den." he said.

Nyx suddenly startled eyes opening and her head shooting exclaimed, "what?! why?!" A million emotions bursting their way to the surface and the words slipping out before she could phrase them any better. Her heart aching in her chest at the mere thought of him leaving.

Samael almost turned over to look at her, but he didn't, keeping his back to her, "Because, when with all the stores and Sybil coming back, plus a pup coming, there won't be room for all of us here. And I have my own den I need to take care of and make sure no one tries to take." he said.

"Oh..." was all she could manage to say at first feeling her heart sink a little bit more, as her brain slowly took in what he said.
When something he said suddenly donned on her she couldn't help but question, "but what do you mean with Sybil coming back? She doesn't live here... she never has. She just brings me things from Dark from time to time especially now... where we've pretty much frightened Dark from coming any where near this den..." She said realizing that she was rambling on a bit as the words were coming quickly now, with the small glimmer of hope that maybe just maybe he would stay.
*But he did mention he had to get back to his own den to take care of...* she thought to herself that small glimmer starting to fade a bit with these thoughts.

He listened when she explained Sybil really didn't live in the den with Nyx and he felt better he probably wouldn't have to leave. But..."Well...we will have to see....I still need to check on my den. Just not any time soon." he said. If someone did tried to lay claim to his den, he would probably just chase them out and have to stay a few days to make sure his scent was in the enclosed space and the surrounding area.

"Yes... well that does make sense..." she said softly, though her heart still felt funny at the idea of him leaving even for a short period of time, or maybe it was the fact that he still wanted to defend his own den that had her also twisted in knots inside, though she tried not to admit that too much to herself. Though her thoughts had definately already crossed that path, *and why is he laying with his back to me... why won't he look this way...* she thought with a sense of dispair, had she said something wrong.
"Sammy?" she said hestitantly, "is there something wrong?"

Samael yawned a bit, swimming in cold water always wearing him out. He blinked and rolled over to face her, looking a bit confused, "Not that that I know of. Why, is something wrong?" he asked.

Nyx shook her head side to side, "no I suppose not..." she said with a sigh trying to get herself to settle back down into her spot and at least seem to be comfortable.
*Yes! Everythings wrong...I don't want you to leave... why can't this be your home... don't you want to stay with me...* her brain screamed as an ache pinged in her heart.
*Ugh.. you're so stupid... why don't you just tell him how you feel...* her brain then yelled at her after she cringed slightly from the pain her heart seemed to be causing.

He shrugged a bit and closed his eyes, feeling himself starting to doze a bit, still worn from swimming in the freezing water. But it was the squeaking and chirping from the clam Nyx was curled around that caused him to blink his tired eyes open.
