This is private RP between LollyxBeans [Kalinka Kovak & Faust] and Impy Kun [Meggie Fairbairn and Shade].
Location: Downtown Tallenpoint

"I don't suppose that you actually know any specific places around here that we can find baby stuff at, huh?" Megg shifted Shade in her arms as she walked along next to Kali, blue eyes jumping from one shop to the next as they headed down the street. After much planning and persuading, she'd managed to drag the redheaded magic-girl out of the mansion with one mission in mind: to get supplies for both Shade and Faust. Zak had been able to provide them with the bare essentials, such as some bottles, cribs, and a few onesies, - Megg wasn't entirely sure if she wanted to know why he had all those things - but they still needed other supplies.
Like some strollers. Strollers would be nice. They'd have no problem paying for any of it either, since Megg had convinced Nigel to lend her some money.

"Like, I know that a bunch of the stores CARRY baby stuff, but I don't know any specific brands that are exceptionally good or anything." The brunette didn't want to buy something that would fall apart quickly - they needed stuff that would last, especially for these babies. For a few moments, Megg paused, looking down at Shade, before she returned her gaze to Kali. "This is weird, isn't it? Me and you baby shopping?" They weren't even in their 20s for God's sake! They must have looked so strange, walking down the sidewalk with a couple babies in their arms.

Kali was a little dumbfounded at everything that was happening. She was carrying a mutant baby, down one of the main streets of Durem, having her ear talked off by a girl she hardly knew. She wasn't used to so much chatter. Zak hardly spoke at all, and when he did, he was either bitching, or something bad was going to happen.

She stared at Megg, walking quietly beside her until she finally started chattering. Years of being around Zak had finally rubbed off on her, she supposed, because as she finally fell silent she stared at her, and said.
"...You talk a lot, huh?"

She flushed as soon as it left her mouth and would have clapped her hands over her face had she not been carrying Faust. As it was, the baby lurched in her hands, and squirmed unhappily at her.

"S-sorry! I didn't mean it like that! Well, okay, I sorta did, but...uh..." She laughed nervously, then beamed.
"Yeah. It is a little weird to be stuck with a baby. But it's not like someone could assume he was mine. He's got bright green hair, blue eyes, and gray skin, not to mention a tail. Not exactly a strange thing to see in Gaia, but I don't know that I could make any of that." She had white skin, red hair, and black eyes; no green, blue, or gray anywhere on her.

"Um...P-playskool is good, I think. A-and Huggies? I don't really know either. Zak isn't really good for suggestions..." Weird didn't cover this, though it had very little to do with their strange babies.

The colour of Megg's faced matched that of her current companion as Kali mentioned that she seemed to talk a lot. A sheepish smile came over her face and she chuckled a little, shrugged. "I guess I do, yeah. Sorry." She didn't really know why she talked so much since Nigel, like Megg, had never been much of a talker. Actually, he'd normally preferred it when she'd kept quiet - maybe it was just because she was finally with someone her age. Who knew?

"It's okay. I'm not...usually like this." She would have scratched the back of her head, had Shade not been occupying her arms - so instead, she just opted for an awkward shrug. "And I guess not...unless they figure that we've been banging other races or something." It was completely possible, what with all the races that were running around Gaia. "You never know - people jump to some pretty weird conclusions." Though she had to admit, anyone who thought that she was related to Shade would have to be an IDIOT.

"Y-Yeah, neither was Nigel...so we'll go with those then!" She beamed, trying to look more confident than she actually was. "We'll just find the nearest department store and look for those then! I think there's one just around the corner...Mabel's, or something."

"...I totally wan't to go to the toy aisle." She couldn't help but giggle. She loved the colorful toys, with all their buttons and their noises. It just made her smile.

Faust's ears twitched as he heard the word 'toys'. He didn't know much, but he certainly recognized that word. Looking around, he stretched his arms out for the blocks, and blew a raspberry when he couldn't find them.

Kali shifted him in her arms and giggled, nodding at Megg.
"That sounds like an okay idea. We'll just go there, then." Sure enough, around the corner, a large department store loomed. She slipped in through the automatic doors, looking back to make sure Megg was still with her. She didn't want to insult her away. It had been so long since she had hung out with anyone her own age...

"I was thinking of maybe having a theme for Faust's room. I mean, I know its' painted, but that's so boring. Do you have any ideas?" She asked Megg, looking back at her and smiling.
"The baby stuff is upstairs, and this way. C'mon."
PostPosted: Tue Nov 16, 2010 11:57 am

"Same here." Megg grinned, just as eager to get to that particular section as Kali was. "I need to get Shade something to chew on other than my old gameboy anyway." As adorable as it was, she doubted that it was very good for the little impling - it would be better to get him a toy that was actually MEANT to be chewed on. "ASAP, preferably." she added as Shade whined in her arms. He was probably getting cranky.

"A theme? Hmmm..." Megg wracked her brain as she and the redheaded girl entered Mabel's, her eyes immediately glancing about for a sign that would direct them to the infant section of the store. "Well, I'd say base it off his interests, but he's probably too young to really have any yet. Maybe a jungle themed room? That'd be really cute." Megg smiled as they happened upon the infant's toys aisle and headed into it. "I thought of making Shade's kind of video game based - I think he likes watching me play them." That, and corrupting him might be easier if she started early enough.

"Thaaat can't be sanitary." Kali laughed, shaking her head as she made her way toward the escalator. All of the baby stuff was upstairs, so that was where they needed to go.
"Jungle might work, but I was thinking maybe music, or something to do with cards. He doesn't look like something that belongs in a jungle..." She shrugged. It didn't much matter. If she found something she liked, she'd use it.

"Do you know what size clothes Shade takes? We could start there. They definitely need more outfits." Plus, the escalator came out right beside that section, if she remembered correctly.

Faust spotted the escalator and began to fuss, though it wasn't because he was afraid of it. He wanted Kali to walk faster. Reaching out with his hands, he waved them at the large mechanical stairway, staring in wonder as it moved up continuously.
It was, he thought, the coolest thing he'd ever seen.
PostPosted: Thu Nov 18, 2010 6:01 pm

"Probably not, no." Megg grinned, then glanced to Faust as Kali mentioned him not looking like he was from the jungle. She didn't agree, exactly, but made no comment and merely nodded instead. "Cards...I don't think I've ever heard of a card themed room. You could make something cool out of that."

"He's about 20 inches." Which she found kind of strange - Shade seemed somewhat small for the way he acted, but she just chalked that up as her making a mistake. Besides, he'd probably catch up in size as he got older if he WAS small. "I'm kind of hoping to find something with x-men on it." Megg couldn't help but grin at the mere thought of the impling boy dressed up in a dark blue onesie with a big red X on it somewhere. Call her a nerd, but she thought it would be adorable.

Shade's expression seemed to match Faust's as Megg stepped on the escalator, though he wasn't nearly as verbal about it as the other baby was. It almost looked like he was examining it, trying to move himself so as to get a better look - this was rather useless, however, because of how Megg was holding, not to mention the fact that he couldn't properly move yet anyway.

"I thought so." She said, shifting Faust in her arms to try and calm him down. He seemed to scowl, and leaned over her shoulder, watching as they stepped off of the magic stairs and almost sighing in disappointment as they retreated into the distance when Kali began to walk to the baby section.

"You'll probably have to make him a onesie if you want it to be xmen. I don't think they sell those anywhere but online..." She giggled as Faust began to chew on her hair, pulling it away from him and adjusting him in her arms again. He seemed to have been 'born' further along than Shade. He couldn't do much, but he could move, make expressions, and semi-clearly communicate what he wanted. Mostly by screaming, or blowing raspberries...but it was still communicating!

"Damn." Megg sighed and pouted a little. "I was hoping to avoid that. Ah well, we'll see what I can come up with, I suppose." Either way, she'd have to settle for whatever they had in the baby section here. The young woman had been switching between the onesie that Shade was currently wearing, and having him sit around in his diaper whenever she needed to wash it, which definitely wouldn't do - he got cold too easily for that.

So naturally, clothing was the first thing that Megg began to look through when they came to the baby section. They had onsies of all colours, with teddy bear designs, stars, moons, blocks...
But no X-Men. So much for that. Well, she'd just have to go with what they could find then. "I think he'd look good in a gold that matches his eyes. What do you th-"

"Good heavens, they can't even be past their first year of college!" Megg stopped as she heard an old woman gossip to her friend and turned slightly to see the two seniors nearby. The women turned away as she looked over, but continued on with their conversation. Apparently, the whole 'racial difference' thing had completely slipped their attention when it came to the two girls and the infants that they held.
"It's shameful, really; and no wedding rings! They'll grow up all wrong, likely." It was then that Megg remembered why she wasn't particularly fond of older people.

"Hey Kali, you know what I don't like?" Megg asked, not bothering to hush her voice as she continued to pick through the baby clothes nonchalantly. "People who don't know how to mind their own business."

Perhaps Kali had spent too much time around Zak, because as the other teen spoke to her, she merely laughed, haughtily and apparently unbothered by what the women had said.

"Oh, you know what I do like! Old women, who get turned into goats!" She giggled, spinning her hand in a circle. Magical energy followed it, spiralling into a ball. One of the women started, but without remorse and quite vindictively, Kali let the ball fly. As opposed to hitting the women, it exploded into bright lights and confetti in front if them as Kali turned and walked in the other direction.

"Really, Fausty, did you know we had such a familial resemblance?" She cooed at her Munster. He didn't really get what was going on; but hey, the lights had been sparkly! He clapped; she should do it again! Chuckling, she flicked through the rack and chose a few items, damning their lack of foresight.

"I think we should have gotten a cart or something, oh fellow whore hooligan." She said, peeking back over at Megg. "I don't think I'll get away with enchanting them to follow me around the store."

Shade squealed in delight as Kali's spell exploded into bright lights and confetti, his form squirming in Megg's arms. He'd never seen anything so bright and colourful before - it was pretty! A whine escaped the little impling as Megg turned away from, and he wriggled about, clearly unhappy about not being able to see the rest of the brightly coloured 'show'. He cheered up as Megg bounced him however, another giggle escaping him. His guardian grinned down at him before looking over towards Kali.

"You know, I like those too." Megg agreed with a chuckle as she peeked at a pack of pull-ups. The other girl's next statement would have made her facepalm, had she not been holding a baby, and she sighed a little. "s**t, you're right." The brown-haired girl frowned, glancing about. "Maybe if we can just get a basket..." They needed a couple of strollers too. That would make carrying the babies around easier. "I'll go look for some. Just a sec." She scurried out of the aisle, and was fortunate enough to find an abandoned cart out on the main floor. She decided that the God of shopping must have been smiling down on her and grinned, adujusting Shade in her arms so that she could push the cart back to the aisle that she'd left Kali in.

"Can Faust sit up by himself? I don't think I can put Shade in the cart seat." she said, coming to a stop next to her companion.

"Yeah. He seems further along than Shade...weird, since he came out second." She dropped her things in the cart and set Faust down in the seat. He squirmed, at first, scowling at how he'd been thrust into this cage like thing on wheels, but as soon as Kali rocked it with her foot, he seemed to cheer up a lot.

"You really lucked out in finding a cart. OH! That's what we can get! Baby carriers!" Perhaps their dilemma was a good thing. Without it, they never would have remembered to get them. At least, Kali wouldn't have. She wasn't known for her amazing memory skills.

"Wow...there really is a lot to get, huh?" She said as she looked around. "I don't even know all of it..maybe we should get a sales clerk...do you really think Nigel leant us enough for it all?"
PostPosted: Tue Dec 14, 2010 11:56 am

"Yeah, I know right?" Megg still couldn't figure that bit out, and it worried her. Was there something wrong with Shade? Or was he just taking his time when it came to stuff like that? She hoped that it was the latter. Either way, the baby currently seemed to be quite content with staying where he was in Megg's arms - she was quite warm, really.

"Yes! And strollers. We NEED strollers." From where, Megg's eyes began scanning the displays around them for both items, deciding that they were now her top priority - it would certainly make things much easier. Now, the only problem was where to find them; they didn't appear to be in this aisle...

"Oh, trust me, he lent us enough." A small, devilish smirk came over the brunette's face. The truth was that she'd swiped his debit card and, unbeknownst to him, knew his pin as well. This made the whole shopping thing quite a bit easier. "We could ask the person who works in this section. I imagine that they'd have some good advice..."
Megg's attention was suddenly caught as Shade began squirming in his eyes, a soft whining noise escaping him. What was with him? Looking down, she saw that the baby was currently reaching for something - upon moving her gaze, she saw that he was trying to grab for a toy. A stuffed, blue elephant to be exact. "What, this?" She grinned and plucked the toy off the shelf, dangling it above the baby and cooing. "Is this what you want? Hmmm?" Shade giggled in response, squealing when Megg lowered it down enough for him to grasp hold of the elephant's trunk. It appeared as though she'd found the gameboy's replacement.

"I'm sure it's just a quirk in the magic." Kali shrugged. "Maybe because he was waiting longer? Who knows. I agree with strollers. Hang on. Can you watch them? I'll go find a clerk.." She made sure Faust wasn't doing anything bad, like chewing on the cart, before walking off down the aisle.

Faust's eyes followed Shade's and he too spotted the stuffies, though he didn't reach out for one like Shade did. He fixated his gaze on a little grey wolf, but made no noise, or other indication that he wanted it. Really, one couldn't be sure that he DID want it, or if he was just looking at them because Shade liked them. He did, however, whine as Kali left, pushing his lip out past his enormous teeth. Truly, a feat to be reckoned with.
